5800 - Does new firmware fix auto-rotate problems ...

Ever since V 50.0.005 I've had problems with auto-rotate stopping working after a while (memory leak anyone ?) with a reboot being required to fix it. DAK if this is fixed in V 51.0.006 because if it is I'll go through the hassle of changing my product code to get it early as it's driving me nutzzzzz.

The real issue lies somewhere else.. atleast thats what I think because I did not face such problem on my Nokia 5800 xm with v  50.0.005. It was happenning just occassionaly and not so frequently or permanently as some posts suggest.
Auto rotate should work perfectly when the phone is held vertically.i.e. the top and bottom edges at same distance from the body.. Normaly when the phone is held in palm the bottom edge is nearer than the top edge as it is slanting. The feature will not work 100% in this condition...

  • [iPhone] auto-rotation problems

I'm having a really tough time getting auto-rotation to work properly.
My biggest problem is most of my application only works in Portrait mode, but there is one view (with subviews) and a controller that handles landscape (it displays an image). When I rotate the device to landscape mode while this view is up, then cause this controller to pop back to the previous controller (a navigation controller), the rest of the interface is now in landscape mode instead of portrait, which is messing up my other portrait only views. I expected that popping my landscape-supporting controller would revert the interface to portrait, since none of the other controllers support landscape.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
And is there a way to "force" the device into landscape mode when a landscape image is selected? See I have a image picker controller (portrait), and when I pick a landscape image I'd ideally like to just have my image viewer (and subviews) show up in landscape mode - like how Movie Player does it.
I know this is possible, but I haven't figured out how yet.

I am having the same problem that you have descibed below. Did you ever find a solution? I have tried all types of possible solutions but cannot get the previous view to revert back to portrait as well.

  • Auto Rotate problems when shooting tethered overhead

I am shooting with a Canon 5d mark 2.  When I shoot product into the auto rotate works properly and the image appears rotated properly. Although when I shoot overhead or down on product it seems to get confused. If I rotate the camera twords the horizon and fire it figures out which way it should be the I can reframe my overhead shot.  But if the camera is moved at all it will show up rotated the wrong way and I have to slightly move the camera away from its directly overhead framing again so it can figure out wich way it should be rotating. I have tried all three rotate modes with the camera with similar inconsitant results. What is the best setting on the camera to get consistant results. Or ii I turn auto rotate off is there a way to tell lightrroom to rotate it properly on import like it does for all other settings like white balance.

This isn't a function of tethering, I wouldn't think. Many cameras have a sensor that determines the orientation of images so auto-rotate works. The problem is that these sensors generally only work along one axis, using the force of gravity to tell them where down is. When you orient the camera such that the lens is pointing down most sensors no longer are able to determine whether you are in portrait or landscape, because there is no down -- it ends up being somewhat random.
I've seen this on many different cameras, and all without tethering. It has to do when the sensor is read when composing the short.
Your best bet is to set the camera to ignore the sensor when taking pics like this, and rotate the image by hand that are need to be in portrait. If there is no rotation in the image metadata, Lr will not rotate it. It will have to be done by hand. It won't be that hard to select a number of images and bulk rotate them.

  • New Firmware Fix Cisco bug ID CSCtn23871?

In the Cisco Security Advisory released on May 25th, it said the firmware to fix CSCtn23871 would be released June 10th. That never happened. But now a firmware version has been released with the 2.0.2.1 version number that was supposed to fix the vulnerabilities from this Security Advisory. Does this new firmware update fix CSCtn23871? There are no release notes for this firmware, which was released 5 days ago.
    Jeff

Do you know when the release notes will become available for this firmware version? The release notes were updated for the RVS4000.

  • Why does my 9810's auto rotate stop working all of a sudden?

    My 9810's PIN is: 2978D267
As said in title, the auto-rotate has ceased to work all of a sudden. I've tried removing the battery several times for total reboot and no luck, also tried drawing the keyboard back and forth and no dice. the other anomaly being the inability of recharging its battery with either 1A or 1.5A, wall socket dependant.
I am on the sixth month of use, the place I purchased this handset from is no longer exists so I have no idea how the promised 2 years warranty is supposed to be.
I hope that I can get some clue from here. Thanks.
regardless of race, religion, social status, material, what not

Let's make sure we're on the same page. When you remove your battery, is your phone turned on? Yes = proper battery pull, no = nothing will happen.
If your phone is turned ON, then it's time for an OS reload using BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Try that and post back with your results.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • N82 new Firmware(11.0.117) Problem

After installing new firmware, main camera shows tool bar but both capture and flash buttons are dead.vision is 100% dark room.(only show darkness)
some how secondary camera is working well.three time i have installed newly downloaded update...for rechecking..but all in vain....
    urgent update is needed!!!!
Help from community is highly appreciated.

    Kamrul,
Don't be so furious. Let me explain you something. The first countries to receive the updates are the europeans ones. Then Nokia modifies the same firmware for the APAC regions. They have to introduce  the language packs in it and make some changes to make it suit the APAC. There are even software which some countries get and some not.
That's why there are product codes. We can have several nokia phones of the same model but they differ in firmware. This has always been like this.
Be a bit patient it will soon arrive in your region. Nokia is working on it.

  • Does anyone know what the new firmware fixes

The question is in the heading wink
    Thanks
    Mark

    "it must fix something"
I'm not sure that's accurate. As I recall, the old iMac G3's had a firmware update that was not a fix, but a modification, a preparation for the then planned new OS X. There are some of those old machines still operating flawlessly today even without ever having had the firmware update ..... they just can't run OS X without it!

  • Sluggish Mac - why does new user fix it?

    Hi everyone,
I bought my Macbook pro less than a year ago, and already it's really sluggish. I run Avid, Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Firefox and Thunderbird constantly (though not at the same time) as well as many other applications.
But it's started to take a long time to open each program, and I get the beachball all the time. I noticed that my wife's user account is really quick however, so made a new user and everything's really quick for me now.
However, with all the program preferences, user settings, etc etc, it's a pain to have to migrate everything over the my new user account.
Is there an equivalent 'flush' I can do to an existing account that gets rid of all the gumph that's slowing it down? Or do I just live with creating a new user every few months?
Thanks for any help you can be...
    John

Not to be argumentative, but defragging a drive on a new computer is a waste of time and unnecessary. If your computer is sluggish there may be other more likely causes. See:
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    ynchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
Plus consider you may have too little RAM for the memory hungry applications you are using concurrently. See:
About OS X Memory Management and Usage
Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor
Memory Management in Mac OS X
Performance Guidelines- Memory Management in Mac OS X
A detailed look at memory usage in OS X
Understanding top output in the Terminal
The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.

  • Does anyone ever fix this headset problems?

Why is there no contact number or email doesn't work for creative. It gives me error on page. I'm ticked off that my mic doesn't work properly or perhaps faulty, it has no instructions or troubleshoot or says why the led light on the line control does not light up or suppose to even light up, i'm ticked off, will never buy another creative product, they have horrible customer service, to make it better, i can't even get a hold of them.....

Ok, after talking to the so called tech support people, they tell me I need to either revert back to winxp sp2 or use vista since creative does not have a driver for sp3.
Now, does that make sense to anyone? How can a company the size of creative not be in the loop when it comes to a upgrade like a service pack for a major operating system. And also, why does the microphone for my 3 year old platronics still work when a brand new much more expensive system does not.
By they way, this is about my microphone on my brand new fatal1ty gaming headset not being seen by windows. But I can hear it in the headphones so I know it works. Just windows and other applications will not see it.
The tech support people said that if I was not able to down grade my system then I should return the item. Hows that for tech support.
UPDATE: I was able to fix it myself with out degrading my system. So much for creatives solution!

  • Mid 2009 macbook pro battery is dead and fan is constantly ramped up (not due to heat). Would installing a new battery fix the fan problem?

Battery icon has an "x" over it and I need to have my laptop plugged in to be on. I've ordered a new battery to install, but I was wondering if it's possible that something else might be causing the fan to be on over drive constantly. I've tried resenting the SMC and the PRAM, but nothing has stopped the fans from running at higher than normal speeds.

If you've updated to Mavericks, you'll either need to use the original install DVD containing the AHT, or download the right one from Apple's servers, then replace the hidden /System/Library/CoreServices.diagnostics   folder.
I think that replacing the battery is likely to stop the fan problem anyway.

  • IPhone auto rotation problem

I am trying to create an app with multiple views. I have a seperate nib file and view controller for all the views. I have created methods in the app delegate that call up the different views as well as add a transition. I then call that method from the view controller subclasses. My problem is that I want the device to only support landscape mode in some views, and portrait in the others. I modified the -BOOL should autorotate to interface orientation, but, the only view that rotates correctly is the first view loaded. The subsequent ones launch in portrait mode and will only flip into landscape if the device is rotated into portrait then landscape, and sometimes I have to repeat this. Am I missing something here?

I guess I'll need to build a test bed to be of any more help. I still suspect this project would be easier for you if you changed your app's structure to use a single root view that remained over your window for the life of the program. In fact, the Utility template might be a good starting point for you. You might use the MainView for your splash screen, and the FlipsideView for your GameView, replacing the info button with whatever is calling exitSplash and removing or modifying the FlipsideView's Nav Bar depending on where you want to go from the GameView. Per my previous thread, using the Utility template with landscape views has its own set of problems, but at least the comments in my thread would then apply, and others could help you without building a test bed from scratch. In particular, you might want to try xnav's suggestion to start with the Tab Bar Application template which you'll find near the end of that thread.
One more snippet of code that might be useful to you:
    - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation {
// Return YES for supported orientations
    UIView *rotatingView = rotatingViewController.view;
return [rotatingView superview] != nil ? YES : interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait
    || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown;
I put the above in my RootViewController.m so that only one of its subviews would rotate into landscape orientation. To avoid using the undocumented setOrientation method of UIDevice, I then ensured that users could only switch away from the rotatingView when the device was in portrait. Of course if you choose to use setOrientation, that would offer you even more flexibility.
Best of luck on your app!!
