hi everyone
please can someone help me
i have a nokia 5800 which up until now has been great.
however i noticed recently that at the bottom of my screen there is a thin solid black line which goes from end to end
so much so it even crosses out the word 'options' and 'exit' - since its solid and black
i dont know why its doing this as it has never happened before
i am using the latest firmware V20.0.012
why is this black line there? why wont it go away?
i have tried everything from removing the battery to resetting to settings to default to changing my themes and wallpapers
nothing seems to remove it
its always there
even on the nokia shut down and start up screens it is clearly visible
please help. any suggestions would be most appreciated

guys
would you believe that when i remove my memory card the solid line dissapears and the display is perfect!
but now when i put the memory card back in and switch on the phone, there is no boot up ie i have my white screen with NOKIA and then it just switches off- no matter how many times i try the same thing happens
but when i take the memory card outand switch the phone on again, the phone boots up perfectly
what is going on? is the memory card corrupt? i have only used 500mb out of 8 gigs and the phone is only a few months old. what must i do? should i try formatting the card? or put in a warranty claim for a new memory card as this BS?
thanks again for your advice
regards

  • Thin black line across Indesign CS4 doc exported to PDF

Hi ... am using Indesign CS4 on OS Windows XP and exporting docs to PDF (Acrobat 9 Professional) then printing on a HP Colour LaserJet CP2025.
I'm getting a thin black line across the bottom of the page when printing - it doesn't show up on the screen though.  The line sits 5mm above the bottom edge of the page and prints whether I have bleed set or not in Indesign.
Have tried toggling scaling, printer's marks settings, printer settings,Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional settings with no joy.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi all,
EUREKA!   Looks like it's finally fixed ...
One of my printer (HP Colour Laser Jet CP2025) has an advanced printer property, under printer features, called "Print Data Optimization" - this was set to "Auto" - I changed it to "Optimise for Text and Vector" and voila!  Thin black line has disappeared and I'm happily reprinting a bunch of documents ...
Thanks everyone for your advice and input - saved my sanity

  • Officejet 6310 prints solid black line instead of text.

Good day. My officejet 6310 has started printing a 3/8" solid black line instead of text. I've replaced both color and black cartridges. I've also run align and clean cartridges. Does anyone have helpful suggestions?

This type of result is often due to errors in the HP printer drivers. Several things can be tried. Sometimes, using a tested driver for an older, but compatible printer will do the job. A lot of folks used the use the HPLJ2 driver even with HPLJ3 and 4 systems. Another option is to try to print as a graphic. At this point, I can only suggest playing around with things. A lot of folks like the graphic driver aspect instead.
You might also consider printing to the printer in a PS mode rather than PCL if that option is available.
I am only suggesting things I have seen tried by various folks. I don't have a good explanation.

  • Solid Black Lines/Blocks Over Personal Data

Some printouts have solid black lines and/or solid black boxes in sections of the printed page.  They generally appear over areas containing personal data (name, address, account #, etc.).  Typically happens when printing statements from third-party websites.  Occurs when printing black and white only and when printing color.  Printer is calibrated and not experiencing other issues. Any thoughts oh what is causing this and how to correct?  Thank you.

Welcome to the HP Forums , I saw your post about some of your printouts having the personal data blacked out when they print out. I have personally heard of some third party websites printing forms like this for security reasons. However, you can try printing them from another web browser, which has worked for some. If you are using Internet Explorer, try Google Chrome, or Firefox. Free Download - FirefoxFree Download - Google Chrome  Let me know what happens! If you wish to thank me for my response lending a helping hand, click the  below!

  • Thin black line across screen

My 5th generation Ipod classic has, in the last year, developed a think black line across the center of the screen that is always there. Is this a "dead pixel" area that has developed? Is there any way to repair this that isn't costly?

This is a fairly common problem and I believe the only solution is to replace the screen or simply live with it. My daughter's old ipod does the same thing. You will notice that the lines only show up when the backlight it on, right?

There is a black line across my safari browser. It just started the other day. Why???

    Hi acolyte39,
Have you tried closing and re-opening Safari by double-clicking the Home button from the Home screen, finding the Safari icon in the task switcher and pressing and holding the icon until it wiggles then tapping the (x) to close it?
Have you also updated to the latest version of iOS (6.1) on your device?

  • HT1725 I purchased several books from itunes and on my iphone it shows the book cover, but I cannot open them.  There is a solid black line on each cover.  Any suggestions?

I purchased several books but on itunes but cannot open them on my iphone 4S.  I purchased one without problem.  However, the next several appear in my library but have a solid black line on the cover as though they haven't downloaded.  When I check my itunes account for possible downloads, it shows everything has been done.  Any suggestions?

Could you take a screenshot of this line?
Press home and sleep button at the same time I believe.

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • Thin horizontal black line at BOTTOM of page when scan on HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I owned an HP Officejet Pro 8500 and scanning was perfect.  I recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
When I scan from the HP 8600 auto document feeder, I get a thin (several pixel wide) black line along the bottom edge of the resulting scan.  This line will sometimes be slighly crooked or only appear across half the page, in which case it tends to get thicker toward the edge of the page).  I believe this line is an artifact from scanning the very bottom edge of the oroginal document.  I think it is showing where the bottom edge of the page was when scanned.  If the document is a little skewed, then the black line at the bottom will be a little crooked, probably following the edge of the page.  This problem is consistent, and repeatable.  It happens in both "Scan To E-mail" mode and "Scan To Network Folder" mode.
When I scan from the flat bed, I get a very narrow black line along the very top edge of the resulting scan, but the bottom appears fine (although I've not tested this extensively).
These thin black lines did not occur when scanning from the HP 8500.
I am wondering if there is a setting to adjust this, or if it is a firmware difference between printers that needs debugging.
    This question was solved.

I find it interesting that the issue happens across both printers.  This is what leads me to believe this is something with the software/connection with the PC.  One thing I will note is that you mentioned above using Adobe Reader 10.1.6.  The latest version of Adobe Reader is 11.0.02.  I would advise removing your current version of Adobe Reader and install the latest version.
I am not sure if this will fix the issue as you mentioned the line comes across in jpeg and other scanning styles.  Do you possibly have another PC you could try setting up a connection with quickly and attempting a scan?  This would be another way to ensure if the issue is coming from the printer or a connection/software issue.
I would like to make sure the issue is coming from the scanners on these printers before returning the printers as I would hate for you to get another model printer and the issue remain with this printer as well.  However, I will note that the Laserjet Pro 200 is a nice series printer from my experience.  I have used the Laserjet Pro 200 black and white only edition, the MFP, and the TopShot edition where I am located.

  • HP2055 prints solid black lines how do I clear this?

When printing to HP2055 any html web page results in output looking like redaction (thick black lines running entire width of page - some have texture but mostly solid black). Does not happen with any other printer. Replaced drivers. Deleted and reinstalled Firefox. Wiped profiles folder under /local. problem persists. Can print other apps fine such as WORD. only happens with Firefox to 2055.

    Check print margins.
#In order to check the margins, we need to go to ''File'' > ''Page Setup''.
#Once this is done, switch to the ''Margins & Header/Footer'' tab.
#Check what's set there under ''Margins''.
The following are the default values for ''Margins'':
    '''Right''': 12.7
    '''Top''': 12.7
    '''Left''': 12.7
    '''Bottom''': 12.7
Check these values accordingly and change them if necessary.

  • MacBook Pro (2007) line across bottom 1/4 of screen

    Hi there,
I have a MacBook Pro from 2007 and just recently there has been a line across the bottom 1/4 of the screen that has been flickering. It's now just become a permanent fixture.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it?
I had the graphics card replaced 2 years ago as there was an Apple fault with the card.
Its driving me nuts please help.

Have the graphics chipset (it's not a card--it's soldered to the logic board instead) checked again. There are reports of the Nvidea 8600M GT failing twice.

  • ThinkPad T400 horizontal line across bottom of screen

Hello. I'm running Windows 7. A horizontal, flickering band has appeared along the bottom edge of the screen. When it is flickering I see what looks the top of the screen or window. When it settles down, there is just a thin line across the taskbar icons. This happened after I had been playing a computer game, although I doubt that has any bearing. I replaced the LCD assembly 7 months ago because I was having a problem with full-screen flashing/blinking, and the new LCD had no problems. I have tried changing a BIOS settings (enabling/disabling VT-d) but that made no difference. The line is there from the moment of boot-up whenever the screen is on. Do I have a chip going bad? I don't have an external monitor to test this with.

there is no real easy of testing it once you have done the basic diagnostic.
