5800 firmware v51 issue

I just updated my firmware to v51 n already having helluva problems.
Firstly battery doesn't last for more than 6 hours on full charge(i used to get 3 days with v50 with similar usage)
Whenever i click on settings,phone hangs
Apart frm these,front camera quality is damn good now and diplay rotation is also fast

You can discuss firmware issues in the Software update section of this forum. What you describe is not normal. I updated to v51 via FOTA and the phone works flawlessly. I think that some background processes are draining your battery. My advice is to hard reset the phone.

5800 Firmware V51.2.2007 Issues

I recently upated my phone's firmware to V51.2.2007 OTA and already noticing couple issues:
1. Music Library will stay in refresh mode and no songs show up. I've deleted all my music and reloaded them, but still won't show unless I sort by "Artists", "Album", etc.
2. Volume control is not working in the music player while connected with headphone. I've tried to adjust headset settings but no avail. Even tried Line Out and TV Out, but only made the volume a tad louder.
3. Auto rotate become very slow. I noticed the full keyboard has come back only in the horizontal mode, but it's a pain that I have to shake the phone hard to let it realize it's in horizontal mode everytime I text or accessing internet.
Need fix!
Has anyone experiencing these issues or something else that I'm not aware of?

I havent experienced these issues. However the music issues I believe stems from the fact that v51 has a new music app. The autorotate may just be your phone having taken up a lot of RAM.
1. Connect your 5800 to you PC in Mass Storage Mode
2. On your PC you will need to have allowed to “Show” hidden files, do this from Explorer/Tools/ Folder Options/ View and select “Show hidden files and Folder”
3. Open your SD memory card/Removable Disk in My Computer on PC
4. Go to E:\ Private there you will see 3 folders 101f8857, 101ffca9 and 10281e17 .
5. Go to Private\101f8857\Cache\E there you will see .dat files. Delete all the .dat file BUT NOT the E Folder. Shown above right
6. Now go to Private\101ffca9 there you will see another .dat file, Delete the dat file NOT the folder.
7. Finally go to Private\10281e17 There you should see 4 files 2 are Mp3 files other are Podcast files. Delete mpxv2_2.db & mpxv2_2.db-journal for Mp3 files list and Delete pcv6_1.db & pcv6_1.db-journal for Podcast files list. Shown above right
8. Close all windows and disconnect your Phone. Go to Music Library and it should automatically start a refresh.

5800 v51 issue

After updating to v51,when i try to start typing,sometimes the onscreen keys become irresponsive.tried with all different keypads(fullscreen querty,mini etc) and problem persists.but the phone doesn't freeze.i can do all other things.either a restart or memorycard remove option solves this.but any ways to prevent it?

yes v20 was buggy thats why Nokia have removed it off there NSU. It shouldnt be long til the next update comes out on NSU. Nokia 5800 is a very demanding phone and Nokia will make new firmware qucikly so users who have v20 firmware can update to later version which will solve handset issues and those 5800 that people purhcase of the net some come with v20.

Reinstall 5800 firmware

I have an original and not hacked 5800.
Some days ago it crasched (changed theme, etc).
Then, it begin a strange behavior with the touch pad, (wrong numbers, etc)
Something happend, and I tryed to reinstall the firmware, witch now is impossible with the Nokia Software Updater.
Some moments the phone simply refuses the "touch work" - almost useless.
Well, what do I have to do?
Does someone has an idea?

Before the "hard reset", I`ve tryed cleaning programs.
I`ve deleted everything I found, till themes,
It was not so easy, but I found a way in a internet blog.
I`ve done a checkdisk in my card with a windows 7 lap top, and I found corrupted files.
OVI should have this kind of tool, as it seems important.
Anyway, Windows XP couldn`t perform the checkdisk !!! Only Windows 7.
Everything checked, deleted, etc, but the problem with touch screen still remains.
Finally, I`ve done the hard reset, but it didn`t fix the touch screen problem.
Two weeks ahead, the 5800 crashed again (it was doing nothing), and chaged the unique theme I've stored in it to the native one.
As the touch screen sometimes works OK, sometimes not, and sometimes 5800 crashes alone, it seems that something is working behind .....It doesn't seems to be a hardware problem.
I don't have a suport from Nokia, as I bought this phone in USA and I'm living in Brazil - not so kind.
Anyway, a Nokia care center surely would reinstall the firmware (40.2.005).
Not so lucky either, as update isn`t possible - my phone ins't able to update the firmware to 5.1.2.007 by OVI (code issues).
I've found a hacked 5.1.2.007, but I don`t know if I should wait a possible Nokia update firmware by OVI.
Do someone have done a forced instalation of the firmware with the internet`s tutorial and files?

Nokia 5800 firmware v40.0.005 bugs that I faced

I was quite happy to see the new firmware update for my Nokia 5800. Looking at the new features like kinetic scrolling etc.. I've installed the update with no second thoughts. I had taken the back-up of what ever I wanted and ready for upgrade.
However, the below is the experience
1. The update went smooth. Phone has automatically restarted after the update.. I'm happy for few minutes.
2. Basic functionality is fine. Some of the applications like Opera Mobile were missing. Understand that I need to reinstall them. Also, wanted to update the Ovi Maps.
3. Tried S/W update option in the phone. No application was able to install or upgrade. After downloading the application, it just says update failed.
4. Tried through PC Suite. Experience is same.
5. Soft reset the phone. Now applications are getting installed or updated. But there's another problem.
6. Phone restarts itself upon any incoming call or alarm or any calendar alert. This was very annoying!!
7. Soft reset the phone again. Imported the back-up.
8. With zero customizations, the basic functionality is back.
9. Installed Opera Mobile back. Phone is working fine. But the touch key board provided by Opera is gone. It goes to phones default input mode.
10. All the applications like Fring, Google Maps, GMail are gone.
11. Installed Fring (from Ovi store). Phone restarted.
12. The incoming call problem is back. I can't simply take any incoming call. Phone reboots automatically, when I hit any option on the screen.
13. Uninstalled Fring.. Problem still exist.
14. Soft reset again.. basic things are back.
15. Don't have enough guts to install any new software.
Summarizing:
1. The firmware is very very unstable. It seems to have a very narrow happy path.
2. Beware!! Basic things like incoming calls are affected.
3. Some applications are not happy with new firmware. They can break the phone.
4. If you had any security related application like WaveSecure, do not forget to install it again.
Other issues found:
1. Pause functionality has disappeared in the Recorder tool.
2. GPRS / WAP access points are taken in the order of preference.
Other than kinetic scrolling, I didn't find any major difference / benefit from this update.
Do it at your own risk.

Latest Firmware Update Issues with Screen Sensitivity

Hi All,
I synced my original iphone a few days ago and it required a firmware update. Since then, I have had numerous problems with the touchscreen for email and texting. Sometimes, I cannot open a folder on one of my emails or send a text because hitting the "send" icon does nothing. I've restarted my phone and reset it but have not yet tried a restore. Had anyone else had these issues?
And do you have any other suggestions I should try before doing a restore? Many thanks.

Nokia 5800 and AVRCP issues.

First of all I just regret having 5800 in the first place, I really pity nokia , they have lost all the respect I ever had for them.
Starting with the problem I bought a Jabra BT3030 few days back to use it along with my nokia 5800, Nokia 5800 does support AVRCP profile ( atleast they have mentioned it on their website http://www.nokia.co.in/find-products/products/nokia-5800-xpressmusic/specifications ) , 5800 ( Rev : 20.0.012 ) just fails to understand the remote play / pause / forward and backward tracks commands. Which I found to be working perfectly with Nokia E51/E71 and to my horror even the old N73 connects seamlessly.
I have tried with two of 5800 handsets ( even both having the same colour :-) ) and no wonder they had the same problem , I am not sure of the firmware revision of the other handset , but it wont be greater than 20.0.012 for sure.
I had mailed this to nokia support regarding the problem and following was their reply;
"This e-mail is with regard to functionality of headset Nokia 5800. We regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to inform you that Nokia does not recommend the usage of non Nokia enhancement with Nokia product as it might hamper the optimal performance of the phone."
What a pity I must say, the people replying dont even understand the meaning of bluetooth standard's which have been written for AVRCP.
Please advice if anyone elseis also facing the same problem and how should I tackle this.

New firmware update for nokia 5800 is available for India. We are able to update it through Pc suit software update but nokia care is saying that no such official update is available. Lots of people already upgraded to new version and they are facing many problems. Every1 is posting there problem with new version in "new version is available for India now " thread that's why I am creating new thread to report new version problems here. 1. Same is the case. However, this is not a problem and digitally locked files are supposed to work this way. The solution would be to visit the nearest Nokia care center and have this unlocked, or wait hoping that Nokia would release OTA unlocking similar to N95

5800 firmware v4.0.0.5 problem: will not turn off ...

the stupid firmware had some bug.
once the keypad is locked, try to charge your phone by plugging in the charger.
The screen will light up and it will NEVER turn off unless you unlock the keypad.
this is wasting batery.

The screen won't turn off when you plugged the power. Same that it won't turn off after you unplugged from power.

5800 firmware question

Hi all,
a friend of mine has an 5800 and as soon as she bought it she tried to upgrade the firmware to version 40 (ovi suite said update was availiable). However, halfway through the update failed and the phone crashed and does not switch on anymore. The thing is it was not the pc's fault cause she succesfully uprgaded the firmware for both a n96 and n97 before. Do you know if she will have to pay for upraging and fixing her phone at nokia stores?

If she has not done anything to it that could void the warranty, this should be fixed on warranty.
Have she tried to do a hard reset to see if it makes the phone boot? This will delete a clean your C memory, but it's worth a try if her phone wont boot at all. Pres and hold call-end-camerabutton while turning it on. Keep holding them untill handshakescreen is finnished.

Nokia C3-00 Firmware Updating issue

I am trying to update my Nokia C3 from V 4.45 to V 7.20 through nokia software updater. After 10 min remaining timer shown, I get an error message "Software update failed. For optimum connectivity, your USB cable should be...". I tried updating on desktop and laptop too but it gives me same error. Any idea how to resolve this issue?

Hello nokia, i am very much dissapointed by updating my nokia C3-00 firmware version from v4.65 to v07.20. In previous update of v4.65(which was my first update) everything was working great, but now after updating to v07.20 it shows so many bugs. Even the apps don't run at all, and displays 'application error' all the time. Bottom line - I request to nokia software engineers to take some sudden action and please provide us ( nokia lovers and believers) a new bugs free firmware for c3-00 as soon as possible. Thanks

5800 XM Few Issue

I purchased my 5800XM 2 days ago....so i wanted to update its firmware
After Reading all the problem with v20 i have decided not to get FM update...
But i have some problem with my v11..
1. when i forward a msg it is sent in three part althouth it is only one msg...
2. my handwriting feature was removed from the msg writing feature so i did a *#7370# after that i am not able to play all the music files that were preloded in the card..when i click on them its says licence error get the licence? when i click on yes browser opens but nothing happened( all wap setting are ok i have no problem using it otherwise)
3. the preloaded video are not playing properly when i seek them they stop or the i get a very dirty and crippled video....
4. some time my friend complaint my number is busy although i was not using my cell so i checked it several time and some the problem do happens and when i press red button on the cell it start working that means i start getting calls...

Looks like yours is nasty issues.... I got a call form Nokia Costumer care regarding satisfaction survey (exactly after one month). After listening to my problems (surely she did not understood anything), Costumer care lady gave me nearest Nokia Care number and address.
i'm yet to visit them, although not very hopeful, but I'll update you on response.

I have 5800XM and it is soo good.However, 5800 camera is bad in some phones but it is very good in others, why is that??
can I fix my camera or go to nokia to change it??

I am having the same problem. The camera quality is not 3.2 MP as advertised by NOKIA. I sent my phone in for repairs but nothing got done and issue is still there, various emails/phone calls -no update, they don't want to rectify this issue. In terms of service and support, with my experience, nokia is worst then worst. Best thing I can think of is sell this phone and never buy nokia again.. But again its me. I have an iphone too and had a problem with battery (lasting only 3 hours) but Apple gave me a new phone without any hassle or harassment.
