just bought a new 5800 of ebay it was a upgrade which the person didnt want it was on the t- mobile network. iam with vrigin. The problem is i cant send a email off the phone i can recieve emails but it wont let me send them ,it keeps asking for my user name and pass word for my email account. I have been on to virgin to check the settings and verything is fine with the outgoing and incomming settings for the email ... its driving me mad as any1 any ideas .pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ...help.

sounds like a corrupt memory card to me. Go to camera settings and chng memory to phone memory. Remove ur memory card and now take some photos and see if they vanish too.
If they don't, then problem is with memory card. U could chk ur dsk wd chkdsk function on pc. U cud repost for further assistance.
If even this time ur fotos vanish, maybe there's somethin wrng with ur camera. U can take out batter, sim, card frm ur mobile for 10/15mins and reinsert all and check if ur camera is working. If ths doesn't help a soft/hard reset will solve the problem. Make a backup before resettin, code: *#7370#. After reset avoid restoring settings.

Hello all.
I just bought a 5800 Express Music and am very new to the world of mobile phones.
I have had a Yahoo Mail account for the last ten years and would like to be able to access it
throught the phone's email system.
This is what I've done:
In Settings Wizard, click Email Setup.
-Phone says "Allow application to use network to send or receive data?"
-I say "yes".
-Phone says "Testing network", then "Contacting email server".
-Phone gives me a screen with Yahoo, Gmail, Ovi etc.
-I click on Yahoo, then write my Yahoo email address.
-Phone says "Getting email settings", then "Unable to connect with the information provided. Please try again".
What am I doing wrong? Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Problem with NOKIA 5800 Music Express

Hi all,
My NOKIA 5800 hasnt been working properly for some time. I can not make a call using my phone book (only if i dial the number i can call) though incoming call can be received. Apart from that, when i try to navigate tomy memory card, i cant anything rather than some less important files though i can find those floders when using via pc! Lots of other problems.
From this discussion (/t5/Phone-Applications/Antivirus-for-5800/m-p/426338) i find out that its not necessary to use antivirus if properly used. But the thing is, i let my mom and sister use this phone for like 6 months, there was internet connection. So, i am not sure whether they did something wrong which led to these problems. Before that everything was fine.
Help me guys! I am freaking out!

i agree with farby.. Do a soft/hard reset.. *#7370# code is 12345..
Note: virus cant infect ur device memory.. But it can infect ur memory card nd corrupt it.. So scan ur memory card wd antivirus on computer... If no virus is found and ur card is unreadable, format ur memory card.. Before formattin backup data as much possible..

5800 music express - Gallery Issue

Hi,
I have updated my nokia 5800 software version but after that i started facing a problem.
Whenever i click a new picture from my camera it gets deleted after sometime there are no virus i have already done a virus check of of my phone.
Please assist me with the same asap as i am facing a lot of problem with that.

5800 music express problem with Bluetooth

Hi,
I have recently had problems with my 5800 contacted nokia they told me to take it to a care point which I done. They were unable to fix it so they had to send it off to nokia themselves. After approximately 2 weeks nokia contacted me and told me that your device is ready for pick up from the care centre (which is 30miles away).
I went to pick the device up and brought it home the exact same problems were still there contacted the care centre they told me to take it back down to them which was totally unacceptable for me. Contacted Nokia they said for me to send it back to them direct but I feel that I don't want too be without my phone for another 2 week when they have already had the chance to rectify the problem. Surely if the device was unable to be fixed then a replacement handset should have been offered. Am I being unreasonable???

Ok, so it does seem the problems are related to a malfunction. Have you tried returning your phone to the shop you bought it from, and asking them to replace it?
Failing that, your only other option would seem to be to keep pestering Nokia Care for a replacement...
P.S I don't think you are being unreasonable wanting a replacement if your phone is faulty & can't be fixed under waranty!

Resetting call timers nokia 5800 music express

i cannot reset the timers in log ->call duration
if i try to clear timers the phone asks me for a lock code, i cannot remember if i ever did lock that option.
i dont have any lock codes on my phone, the startup is the standart 0000
please help

it should be a standard nokia default code 12345 unless you changed it. you say no so this should work for you

ok try this application it might solve your issue. good luck , this will work for your messages and bookmarks will not work on gallery files, still something is better then nothing.

5800 music problem

so i have a nokia 5800 and i am very happy with it...well except for the music player.
i was hoping that it would be fixed with the new firmware upgrade but sadly, it has not.
so when i'm jamming my tunes at random moments a song will start playing and then stop, now sometimes when it does this it will just skip to the next song on the list and when i try and play that song again it will come up with an error saying something about operation cant be performed(sometimes it says file is corrupt) or something and then the whole library will vanish, and when i'm not so lucky it will just stop playing and all my music is gone from the list but when i use file mngr, all my music is still fine and i can play the music fine from there, only one track at a time.
now i know what you're thinking, refresh library right...yeah that does do the trick sometimes. often right after i do it, half my songs don't show up or when it works the way it should it takes ages to load all my music(of about 1123 songs on the 8GB that comes with it) and by the time its finished i am at home or at work and have gone on without music(well i have a e63 and the music player is just not what the 5800 is...not even close so i don't like using it for music).
so...is there a way to fix this little problem.

i've been facing the same problem.. Nd ths s wat i do to rectify it.. No hard soft resettin needed in the v51 nokia 5800.. It's a very stable firmware..
For other mobiles too, if its a card greater than 4GB,
Make a backup of memory card on computer.. Sometimes this fails..
Connect ur mobile in mass storage mode whn connectin to pc..
Ur card is shown in 'my computer'
Right click, goto properties and u'll find a checkd disc function.. Select it
After checkdisc is done, u can probably copy files now
WARNING, some files maybe half in size, esp those whch played half..
After u r done with backup, format ur memory card
Disconnect from computer.
Open music player on mobile
Perhaps it'l say 'repairin corrupted library' etc.. Let it do it..
If u dnt hv any file on memory, 0 files added wil be shown
If none of these occur, manually choose refresh library from options.
After this is done, reconnect ur mobile to computer
Recopy ur backed up files..
Problem solved..
Advice: if u hv an 8GB card or more, they are a bit different frm 2GB nd 4GB.. Try fillin the 8GB card only till 4GB and see how it works fr a month.. Then slowly increase the nmbr of files.. But if again the error comes, note how much is the used space. Then either get a new 8GB card, or a 4GB card or try to keep nmbr of files in ur old 8GB card below the used space when the error came..

Album art size in 5800 music player

I am experimenting with album art in MP3's on my 5800.
It seems as though the displayed size of album art while the track is playing varies with the size of the original jpeg attached into the mp3 file. Anybody else find this or a solution?
For example if I use the 600x600 pixels art downloaded from the iTunes music store, the pictures come out tiny on the 5800 but if I change them to 500x500 in size then they come up a lot bigger.
Furthermore if I go to a track which is displaying tiny artwork when I play it, in the Music Library and select it and choose Album art in the menu, the artwork comes up a lot bigger, filling the screen !!!! So the 5800 can resize the artwork to fill the screen but then screws up the resizing when you play the track. Very annoying.
I am using v20 firmware. Not sure whether this is an issue in previous firmware versions.

5800 Music- how bad is the freezing problem

I am looking at buying the 5800. However after looking at hunderds of reviews and comments it seems to me that users either love or hate their musicexpress with not much inbetween. Knowing that users will often only vent their anger when things go wrong can anyone tell me how bad the freezing problem is that seems to raise its head often with this phone. Are there many people who have this phone not have this problem or is the problem only occur when thier is some conflict with some app.
One other questions is it possible to use the phone to keep reasonabvle amount of notes- I am about to head overseas and want to use the phone also to replace a notebook and diary and also to use its many other functions

I do not have this problem, then again my 5800 has not been working in anyway except perfect ever since I bought it, except for the crashing browser on v30.
Yes you can keep a lot of notes on the phone, Although you may want to find a "note app" like express note to save the notes onto memory card if you plan to use it all too often.

Nokia 5800 music uploading problem

Hey there, I have had alot of trouble transfering music to my phone. It transfers and plays fine, but when i transfer the songs/albums, most of them aren't what I named them on my pc and a few of my songs get sorted in with random albums
I posted on here a few days back and I was given a solution which worked perfectly (Transfering by inserting the phone memorycard into my pc, and refreshing library when transfer is complete.) the albums were exactly as i named them and so were the songs. Once i tried to upload more, it all went wrong.

I have the same issue with track playback.
Although I hear the popping only occasionally, it does not matter what format the file is in, it happens from time to time randomly and although disappointing, it does not detract too much from my enjoyment of the music.
A more serious and fatal error that is now occurring is the freezing of playback once a file completes and tries to advance to advance to the next track.
This became a problem only recently as of July 2010. I have owned the phone since October of 2009 and have never had any issues with the handset. And indeed, have recommended and gushed over the features and ease of use of the 5800. It should be noted that the player freezes only when I play “All Songs” either randomly or from a playlist. Or, when playing even by Album or Artist, when I select next track or previous track, the player will freeze and not shut down. I am left to turn the phone off and on again to reset the player.
The phone is fully updated with the latest firmware released to the Americas market. And I use the latest Ovi Suite program for phone management. I have tried the suggested fixes of reset, restore, re-update, and even have reformatted the memory card. All of this, to no avail.
I have noticed that the Americas market is behind an update or two as to firmware and I cannot access the latest and greatest thru any Nokia website. So if I must I can be patient and wait my turn. But, if someone has an actual hard fix for this specific problem, I would be most grateful. Please, no guesses or “it may be” suggestions as I have gone thru them all already.
I know I’m not the only one with this problem as the boards threads are becoming dense enough to knit a sweater.

5800 music store issure

ok i'm having issues with my 5800, i've had a few problems with the touch screen recently so i had to take the phone to a nokia care centre and they formatted it and problem solved.
but now i can't log into my music store account on my phone, basically it tells me i have to pay for me music now which is a load of rubbish as i've only had it 2 months and its a comes with music phone but apprently when i log in it isnt.
but also there's 4g's of music on there that now i have to re-license apparently but i cant do it because i cant get into my comes with music account so how do i get access to my comes with music so i can re-license all my music?

5800 & Music Store

i'm having a lot of problems purchasing music on my 5800 through the nokia music store.
I set up the nokia music account on my phone and added my Debit Card.
Whenever i search for a song on the phone itself and try to download it, i get "Download interrupted, An error has occurred during your download. please press the back button at the bottom of the screen and try again".
if i log in on my pc and purchase a song, it goes through ok
if i purchase a song on my pc, i can download it using my phone by going into the Purchased music option on my account, so there is no actual download problem. it just seems to be a problem with purchasing

I found this problem just after updating firmware to v40.0.005 but have discovered that whether or not error message is produced depends upon how fast you hit the "middle icon" (My account - key symbol) after selecting WLAN for connection as in enclosed screenshot below.
Another solution is after establishing internet connection via WLAN point your browser to music.nokia.com.sg and then enter username and password which is what I think Nokia Care meant by operator asking you to use other way to log in music store.

5800 music prob

I live in india and i have recently bought a 5800 Xm From the Nokia Priority Store
but today compared the audio Quality With N81 and N73and wat i feel is that 5800 has poor on its part
i used the same pair of earphones and the music was Bomblastic in N81 but bad in 5800..
can anyone say anything on this..
wat can be the problem..

1. Plug your device into MASS STORAGE mode.
2. Copy out all your data from memory card to computer.
3. Use Windows Explorer to format the memory card (use FAT32) and dont use QUICK FORMAT.
4. Copy back all your backed up data from computer to memory card.
5. Now to refresh ..
- Open Windows Explorer
- Open E:\Private folder
- Open 101ffca9 Folder
- Delete harvesterdb.dat file
- Delete the E:\Private\10281e17
- Disconnect phone from PC
- Turn device OFF then ON back again
Remember: Media library refreshing may take somtime to load for the first time depending on the amount of songs you're having on the device. Please be patient.
Tips
- For the best result, recommended SD/SDHC is of Class 6
- Use songs with 128kbps with 44100KHz for the optimised result.
