5800 Really Bad build quality

Well I am now on my 3rd 5800 and they all seem to have really bad build quality. As others have mentioned there is a big gap along one side of the phone (top right hand side running down past the volume buttons) and in the dark light leaks out through the gap
Come on - how can anything like this be put out to the general public - this is a serious issue. If you can get one side of the phone to close properly then why didn't you get the other side to do the same?
As a product designer I know that during the design stage there are several prototypes made, parts checked etc - how could this be passed as ok?
I am seriously considering ditching the 5800 all together - for something that Nokia are classing as a premium model they really need to re-consider its quality.

This is really annoying me as well. This phone cost me a lot of money and it's the worst build quality/design I've ever seen.
People talk about dust getting in through the gap but what worries me is that it is much more likely to let in moisture! I've checked with Vodafone and moisture damage is NOT covered by their warranty. So unless Nokia admit that it's a manufacturing fault you'll have to pay for the repair youself.
Of course,
1) If their wasn't a gap down the side of the case water wouldn't get in so it wouldn't need repairing!
2) If the phone gets water damaged it's almost certainly going to be classified as "beyond economical repair"!
Come on Nokia, admit it's a manufacturing fault, recall all the phones and repair them free of charge.

Really bad text quality,photoshop, is it pixel aspect ratio?

when doing dvd's i often use psd files for menus or title boards, quite often at 16x9, now the problem lies with the quality of the text in photoshop and when transferred to dvdsp. In photoshop with a 1024 x 576 sq pixel canvas the text looks crisp and sharp, however when transferred to dvdsp the text feels like it has gone through a verticle interlace, each letter is chopped up and shifted stretched and compressed. Going back to photoshop and making a 720x 576 comp with a widescreen pixel aspect ratio seems to do the same thing but this time in photoshop aswell. The text quality problem is not the usual dvd compression issue that is frequently discussed on these boards where text looks fuzzy, this looks much worse than fuzzy or jpeggy
Is there a standard, a combination of aspect ratio and canvas size in both photoshop and dvdsp? It is really frustrating.

My issue is particular to the crossover between photoshop and dvdsp, it may also be particular to pal dvd's and relating to the pixel aspect ratio, if you try and create a 720 x 576 document in photoshop with widescreen aspect ratio turned on and try adding text you will notice the issue. This also crosses over into dvdsp no matter what i do unless the image uses square pixels in p/shop the text is awful. I was really wondering if anyone else had found a combination of setups that avoid this wierd occurance in both programs.
The issue is not the standard 'my font looks bad on an apple display' issue which is often discussed on this forum, i understand that apple display resolutions are so far superior to standard def tv's that it is impossible to compare. The typesize on these projects are 24pt bold sans serif so well above the 18pt generally accepted standard and the canvas size is pixel perfect for pal resolution no images have been reduced or enlarged. The font looks almost illegible rather than just fuzzy.

Really bad image quality when burning

Hi, i am very new at this discussion thing and am a french speaker so hope i do this ansking question ok.
I'm having problems with image quality of my 1h46 min movie imported from imovie (initially from quicktime made from final cut pro). I am having pixelly images when camera is moving... Although have read some things about this on the forum none of the answers seem to resolve my problem.
I have selected best quality in my prefs but with no success. I figure it's a compression / codec problem but i do not have a clue about all this technical stuff. I don't know what next move i should make.

I'm using iMac G5 divided my 250 GB in 2 disks wich has 31 Go of free space on my HD at the moment. Using iDVD and i Movie 6.0.2

In FCP i did choose export DV/NTSC and imported from camera with apple firewire NTSC (720x480). Should i have imported material in (640x480/30fps/interlaced...) ?
I have had this problem with smaller projects of 20 min of video also so i don't think it has to do with size... At the moment i am making a disc image of my dvd on my desktop hoping to burn through Toast. Otherwise i am also thinking about exporting movie from FCP to tape then importing back to iMov through camera...
I'm kind of desperate and don't really know what to do... I'm also gonna start reading compressor 2 and maybe forget about iDVD an d just burn it through toast. Wich is kind of dissapointing cause without interface, menu and all...

Really bad image quality on iPhone 6

I took a photo using my iPhone 6 of some kit that I needed to be able to identify later on. I was looking at the photo today and the fine detail is unreadable, it looks like some kind of pixelating filter has been applied to the image. Does the attached seem right? I'm viewing in Photoshop at 100%

Bought Clearance 2.5 Prev. Gen MPB, BAD BUILD QUALITY! Genius appt tomm!

So I picked up a "brand new" previous generation MPB online a few days ago and got it this past Saturday. I am so disappointed, it's not even funny! The MPB reboots on it's own without any apparent reason; it gets extremely hot just viewing email, internet; when a DVD is inserted you hear it buzz and almost sounds like it's "flopping" around inside the unit; GETS EVEN HOTTER WHILE CHARGING; the binding around the left palm rest appears to be separating from the aluminum.
I have an appointment with an Apple Genius tomm, at the Brea Store, CA so they may check out. I never would have thought that "APPLE" QUALITY would be so disappointing. I am still within my 14 day so I am hoping they will take care of this. I personally am not too fond of the new MPB's and would like to retain the previous version!
Is it me, or do the MPB's have ALOT OF ISSUES? Feedback would be appreciated

I recently got a web camera for my Samsung D series 7900 LED TV. I bought the newer VG-STC2000 camera to enable skype. The good news is the camera seems to work good. My macbook air which is receiving the video from the camera shows it very well. (occasional skips and jumps, but nothing too horrible). The problem is the video that is being received by the television. While I've verified through computer clients that I can receive video on my home network quite well on a home desktop machine, the skype client on the TV seems to have a lot of trouble rendering a picture about 80% of the time. I get garbled pictures. It's almost as if the buffer in the Samsung can't keep up or can't handle network jitter.

Areas of movement get distorted. Any ideas on how to fix it? Is it a problem with the Skype software? My network settings? (I have 30 Mbits down and 5 Mbits up at home through Time Warner Cable). I have no packet loss, but moderate amounts of jitter when I measure my network with a speed test / voip simulator.

It's 100% reproducable. It happens typically a minute or two into the call. If the caller turns the camera off and then back on, the image clears up and then in a minute or two degrades again. But it happens on every call.
Primary caller has been a Mac (using a macbook air with the built in facetime camera). Skype version 5.8.0.1027. The Mac has little trouble viewing the image from the samsung camera. It skips every now and then, but quickly recovers and the audio has no problems.
I've replicated the error from the mac laptop with the laptop connected to my home network (the same network as the Samsung TV). Only other variable is that the samsung tv is connected through wifi, but I've seen other complaints that say that hard wiring the tv doesn't seemt to fix it.
The network speed of the mac typically is over corporate lan speeds (can transfer a 6 gig file in about an hour).

In the last few years, Nokia dramatically decreased the quality of its products. I know of 4 people that bought a Nokia phone in the last 18 months, all of them had to be returned already in the warranty period:
Two Nokia 6110 Navigators: one had a micophone that didnt work anymore overnight, the second was unable to chrge after a few months and the camera wasnt working anymore (screws had to be tightened to fix the camera). On Nokia 6110 Navigator, you also notice the bad building-quality, as you can move the slider, even while closed, at about 2 millimeters, on both phones in same direction. (from beginning!) A known issue.
Thrid phone: a Nokia 3120classic, bought 3 months ago, now speaker not working anymore, phone did never fall down.
Fourth phone: a Nokia 6220classic: tried a firmwareupdate and crashed during the update, had to be returned to Nokia Service Center. curently Nokia is investigating these problems with 6220classic and N82.
Besides the bad quality of the hardware, the firmware/software also got so many bugs. On Nokia 6110 Navigator there are so many known bugs, at the beginning (for a whole year!) there were so many obvious bugs (even the daily alarm-clock didnt work correctly!) that we have to wonder whether this phone was ever tested by anyone at Nokia. Nowadays we got used to the remaining bugs, that are also partly in 6210 Navigator and a few of them are all on Symbian-OS60-Phones. As there are tons of bugs on 6220classic too, if you try to update your phone, it is a really big "chance" to get a broken phone.
Great thing, isn't it? The bad quality keeps ongoing on the new products, if you read some reviews of the newest Nokia phones. No wonder, as phones that are soon 2 years old, still got so many (partly obvious) bugs, how could a new phone work the way it should? And the hardwarequality rarely improves if you build the phones in countries in cheaper, eastern countries...

The old "I never allowed my phone to get wet" story is very, very tired. Anyway, the problems were not at all related to this kind of things, and I simply mentioned that the phones were always kept in save places, to show you, that it WAS not the customers fault. All 5 phones got therefore repaired for free. I am not complaing about their reparation, because that is OK, Nokia service centers are doing a good job.
The fact is, that I wonder how this can happen, and about the quality of the phones from the beginning on, so i notice a very high number of phones getting broken just due to bad quality of hardware or other technical problems that occur. Even if you might purchse the phone, and only leave the phone turned on and charge every time the battery gets low, without touching it or using it, it might get broken. The Nokia 6110 Navigator that got broken over night (microphone) while lying on a table at around 20degree celsius is such an example. How can this happen? I thought it was impossible to happen, but it happened.
This is definitily a result of bad quality, and not of customers usage-behaviour.

Windows Xp bad sound quality after installing itunes 10.5

After installing itunes 10.5 to be able to get the ios5 update my itunes plays every file with really bad, distorted quality. I try other players even Quicktime works fine. What could be happening?

Try to download, and install the latest Realtek HD Audio driver.

Video quality in scope is really bad and dark

When I send my sequence from Final Cut Pro to Color, why does the video in the scope area come out so bad where I can barely see anything? Basically the video is nothing like the quality in final cut pro and the picture is very very dark.
When I see the tutorials online of the videos being sent to color from final cut, the quality is exactly the same and they don't do any adjustment.
Can someone please help me fix this? I work with AVCHD. Thanks!

Now the quality is not "really" bad anymore, it is bad. ;-)
The quality got better, but still there is a difference between drawing shapes and cell borders. And the difference is causing problems with customers, who are demanding professional quality.
Here is a .jpg of the original Excel table. The drawing shape is the outer one, the cell borders are the lines beneath the data. Both line types are very delicat. This is how it should be.
And this is how it looks after a pdf-print with setting "high quality print" (2400 dpi).
The outer drawing shape is ok. The thin horizontal lines are twice as thick than before.
I know, it is about details. But those details make the difference between a professional and an amateur performance.
Do you have another idea, how to improve the pdf quality?

Quality of printout is really bad

Hi Experts,
I use the system command "print screen", to print my visual composer cockpit (only tables and forms, no charts).
Unfortunately, the quality of some printout is really really bad. It seems that VC does some scaling, in order to fit the form to the paper size. But then, the texts are distorted and hardly decipherable.
As I use BAPIs and special form layouts, I cannot use the printing capabilites of reports, as described in the famous "How To... Export Data from Visual Composer".
When I use the flash print function (right click, print...) or the browser print function (menu: file, print...) my VC application is not scaled at all and only the top left corner of my cockpit fits on the paper. The rest is ommitted...Nothing helps, I'm frustrated!
Who can help me? Any Ideas on how to print a cockpit legibly?

do you hv multiple iViews on a page or all the forms/tables etc are on the same iView? if you're using multiple iViews, you can enable print on each iView and get users to minimize the other iViews on the page that are not being printed, that way you might get a decent-sized iView. also try to hv the navigation panel in a collapsed state by default, so that there is sufficient space on screen.
in addition, try to scale your iViews during design time such that when deployed they fit within the screen so that users dont hv trouble scrolling/adjusting etc..i know printing is not something done easily with VC, but hope this helps..

What program are you using to burn the DVD? What is the original DVD content (another DVD disk or movie files -- what's their format?)?

Image quality really bad on exporting

after creatingt the webpage i export the file into HTML and images. But what i see is that the images are of really bad quality. How can i rectify this problem. Any help is much appreciated.

Before exporting, click on the preview button at the top of the document window, and then open the optimize panel. With the Optimize panel open, click on the slices over each of the images to try out the different image formats and compression settings. When you are satisfied with the way they will look when exported, choose File > Export.

I had the same problem on my iPad v2 IOS 7. But it sorted itself after a hard reset (power and home button) followed by a soft rest ( just power) . I lost all sound at this point. Then restarted again with a hard reset.

You might try listening to the songs from other devices or systems to make sure it doesn't have to do with your computer specifically.
Also try to preview the songs from your computer and any other devices if possible to see if the preview sounds any different.
If you're still having issues you should contact iTunes support:

Once you get there, choose Music Purchases from the list, then choose Music Purchases again, and it will let you Email them directly about the issue.
Give them the names of the songs you bought and as detailed a description of the audio issue as possible.

Why does it look really bad quality when i plug my 13in macbook pro to my 42in samsung tv?

i bought this rocketfish hdmi cable to plug my 13in mac pro to my samsung plasma tv so i can watch netflix and youtube..and for some reason the picture quality is really bad. everyone says it looks great in theirs but why not mine? i put it at the highest resolution which is 1080i. Can i get any help??

it should be 1080p unless your's is only i
netflix and youtube need to have the best picture turned on for it to look good. Some are in 1080p but other only max out at 240p.
if you are in mirror mode, you are unable to change the screen size to the tv independently of the mbp.
What you should try to do is see if you have mirror mode turned on in system preferences> display>arrangement.
