5800 : Screen protector damages sensors on touch s...

Hey everyone!!!
Is it true that putting a screen protector on touch screen phones damages the sensitivity of the sensors on the screen of the phone?

Its not the sensitivity on the screen which may be affected, but the ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor on the top, near the secondary camera. The user's manual even said to not cover them with protectors. If you're really concerned about your protector if it is not compatible for the 5800 sensors, the just cut the protector so as not to cover these sensors.

  • Nokia 5800 Screen protector

    Hello all,
Can anyone tell me good screen protector for Nokia 5800 to avoid finger print smudges? I have googled but all I found are the screens whcih have to be cut to 5800 screen size. I am looking for screen protectors designed for nokia 5800.
    Help appriciated.
    Thanks

I recommend those too but they need to be modified as the protector covers the proximity sensor.
Review taken from the Mobilefun site.
Not a bad product with the exception that you need to modify the screen protector itself in order for your phone to work correctly. Specifically, the 5800's proximity sensor does not like being covered by anything, even this thin protector. The resultant effect is that when applied, you will not be able to hold/mute calls etc when on a call as the sensor senses the protector and activates the key lock. Similarly, it means that you cannot see who's calling, as the proximity sensor kicks in as soon as the phone starts to ring. I'm not happy at having to modify what is otherwise an expensive protector but other than that, it works well.

  • Should I buy a Screen Protector for my iPod Touch 4G?

Hi, in a couple days, I'm going to be buying a iPod Touch 4G 32GB, and I really want a Screen Protector, but I don't know which one to buy. I have been looking at the ZAGG Screen Protector, but not too sure.

I say yes.... get a screen protector
    keeps scratches away
you have no problems throwing your device into your pocket with keys
when the glass breaks, the screen protector keeps you from getting your hands cut
    With regards to Zagg...
do your research about installation..... check out YouTube for Zagg product installation
do you feel comfortable doing this yourself, spraying liquids on your device
consider a professional installation service with cheaper alternative products. There's lots of these guys in malls around my neighborhood
there are matte and glossy films.... I like glossy

  • Can a screen protector damage an iPhone 4s screen?

Just purchased a new iPhone 4s and have heard different views on whether or not to use a screen protector.   Some say it can damage the screen, other say it is not necessary.   Others say use one. Looking for more answers.

Hi Paddler... I've always had screen protectors on all my iPhones, never had any damage on the screen because of them. I know people that don't use them on there iPhone 4 and 4S's and there screens still look imaculate (apart from the occasional smeer or finger print). However I dont wanna take the chance, not after just paying out £600.
Here's a link for the one's I have always use, they sell them in the apple store and you get two in a pack.

  • Will screen protectors damage my iPhone and iPad?

Hai I'm new to Communities so bear with me
I just got my first iPhone, and iPhone 5, back in May of this year. I also have an iPad 3 and an iMac 2012. I also just learned about the oleophobic coating Apple puts in every product to avoid fingerprints and scratches. It *****, because I've had a screen protector, and adhesive screen protector mind you, installed on my iPad for a full year, forgot the brand of the protector, and I also have a standard Tech Armor one for my iPhone. I was wondering, will removing the screen protectors now also remove the oleophobic coating in each product? Tell me that I can at least save my iPhone from this.
    Thanks in advance

  • Screen Protector for Ipod Touch

    Hi Guys
Does anyone recommend a good screen protector for my ipod touch?
    Thanks

[Power Support AntiGlare Film|http://store.apple.com/us/product/TU300LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA4Mg&mco=MjYzMTU2N g] straight from the Apple Store and Apple website. However, if you are in the market for a protective skin or case as well, they usually will include the screen protector.

  • Screen Protector--Essential or Unnecessary?

Doing research online on iPhone screen protectors like the Zagg Invisible Shield, some folks say the iPhone's glass screen is not easily scratched and a screen protector is unnecessary. Others say that a screen protector can inhibit the touch-screen performance. Still, I'm a bit of a klutz and a little anxious to leave my pristine screen naked. (Regardless, I will opt for a body case like the iSkin Solo.)
So what say those of you who have had an iPhone for a while. Screen protector or no screen protector?

From the sounds of it, I've put my iPhone through a year's worth of wear and tear in only 2 months then...
I do look after it, i clean it once a week (it's a white 16gb, and i hate the sight of dirt on it :O) but i have dropped it a few times on concrete and it survived without a single mark (im 6' 1", so its quite a big drop for such a small device...)
I advise precaution for the touch screen, as i know a few people that have quite long and sharp nails. and aslong as you don't put your keys in the same pocket as your phone, the casing should be fine too.
The only reason i see for a case, is basicly as a grease deterrent. after just 3 days of use, the screen is very dirty and there are a few pockets of dirt in the microphone/speaker/sim card slots/holes.but a cotton bud takes care of that.

  • 5800 case and screen protector

I bought my 5800 a week ago to use as a music/media device in addition to my n85. The 5800 came wit a nokia branded caseand the 5800 has a thinly striped screen protector on it. I have found that i can listen to my music whilst the phone is in the case without it affecting or muffling the sound. Great construction/invention there nokia.  The screen protector does have a cut-out for the sensor and the front camera usage.  Funnily enough i cannot actually feel the lines on the screen protector via my finger but i can if i use my nail or any of the provided stylus. Anyways, i digress. Can i keep this protector on the phone or will the ridges that are within the screen protector affect my phone's screen ie making scratches on the screen via my use either by the back of my nail or the stylus' and does anyone else have the problem i do that the screen doesnt seen particularly finger friendly to my touch, it likes to sit their looking at me or is it a case of my touch being too light? And is it easier to use for the majority of you with the tactile vibrate on or off? I have it on at the moment as i cant recognise whether  my touch has actually been recognised or not and lastly does anyone know if there is any rhyme or reason that would tell me when a menu or option requires two clicks or one. Its driving me mad. I wish it were all one way or all the other way.  I am running v20 by the way and looking forward to a version that has a faster ui recognition of my touch.  Many thanks.

I took mine off straight away might replace it with a protector from Martin Fields.
And i don't use the case either as i've heard from others that it can scratch rim around the screen.

  • What is the 2nd sensor on the front, right next to the ear speaker for, and can I cover it up with a screen protector?

I received a package of screen protectors from Tech Armor today that were advertised to work for the iPhone 5, 5S and 5C.  They don't have a cutout for the second sensor on the front face that is to the left of the ear speaker.
What is that sensor for?  And can I cover it up with a screen guard without reducing the functionality/effectiveness of the hardware?
    Thanks,
    Pete.

That's the proximity sensor, senses when you have the phone close to your face, turns off the screen to save battery and prevent accidental input from face touching the screen.
It's ok to be covered by by a transparent screen protector. I have used screen protectors that cover up that sensor, no problem.

  • Is it save to apply invisible sheild screen protector with the provided liquid? I'm worried about water damage to my 4s

Is it safe to apply a invisible sheild screen protector with the liquid provided? I'm worried it will cause liquid damage to my 4s

Avoid the dock connector and the headphone port. That's where the water sensors are located. Just apply a very small amount of liquid for the InvisiShield or whatever it is.
