5800,Wlan connection appears as 'unknown', however...

Hi to everybody!.
I have an issue with wlan connections. I defined a new access point in wireless connections, and I put it into the 'internet' destination. The access point is saved as WLAN_XX, and works perfectly.
As soon as I disconnect it, and click to find wireless connections, something rare happens. When there is high signal, the connection appears as 'known'. However if there is low signal, appears as 'unknown'. Therefore I have to configure it again as a new connection (retyping the wep password),which as a consecuence, is saved as 'WLAN_X01)'.
I updated the firmware from 31.0.101 to 40.0.005. A saved connection always showed as 'known' (even when i had not enough signal to connect) when i used the old firmware (31.0.101). I don´t know if it´s a new feature or a bug or how it´s solved, someone knows? Thanks.

This is normal. You can delete this access point from the settings and re-save it.

I fixed  this problem yesterday  it's so simple
1-you need to back up you device
    2-remove the memory card
    3- switch off the device
4- it's kinda tricky but you need two people to do this press the red, green, camera and power button
if you do it correctly you will feel vibration and then it will start once again .
And there you have it hope this information was useful

  • 5800 Wlan Connectivity

Hi there all - there may already be an answer to this query somewhere on this forum but I've spent several days trying to get this sorted and its very annoying now
Anywhooo got myself a new phone last week (figured it was time as I had my last one almost 7 years!!) and I've been trying to set up up etc ever since. I'm now at the confused.com point I want to use my phone on the WLAN at home and I've added the service to the phone using the wizard etc however every time it connects its seems to use the futures bright internet and thus I incur download charges, ok they are only a few pence at a time but I don't know why it does this. I've set the phone to ask on connection and I pick the WLAN every time.
Can anyone help me please - fyi this phone has been unlocked and unbranded and  is currently using PAYG, don't know if that makes any difference or not but thought I would share

Hey Keat thanks for your comments for now I have acutally removed the Orange Internet icon (as in deleted) because everytime I connect via my WLAN it was also using that connection as well and even tho its only a few Kbs they will add up over the month. I had changed all the priorities and connection yet the Orange Internet connection was still connecting, I was able to see it in the connection Manager even tho WLAN was active. As that didn't work I figured what the heck I'll remove it for now and I can always add it back in later if and when required but it was just so goddam annoying!! I just wondered if anyone else had similar issues and what they had done to stop it happening.

That is a baseband error. Has your phone ever been illegitimately unlocked? If so, that problem happens. If you haven't jailbroken/unlocked, visit your local Genius Bar.

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    or here:

  • Multiple WLAN connections

Does anyone know of a way to get my PODCAST and Email applications to use multiple WLAN connections?
I spend most of my day in one of two places, each with a different WLAN, and I'd the phone to have the sense to change WLAN connection as they become available.
    Thanks for your time.

Depends, on what your phone is.
If you're using an N97 or a 5800, or anything running on s60v5 for that matter, Go to Menu>Settings>Connectivity>Wireless LAN>Options>Settings>Show WLAN availability. Then you can also set how often it will set to scan for WLAN connections. This would allow the phone to scan for WLAN hotspots around you immediately. Be warned however that this will drain your battery faster.
On an s60v3 phone, I am not very familiar but from what I know its in Menu>Tools>Connectivity>Wireless LAN>Options>Settings>Show WLAn availability.

  • E61i is keeping WLAN connection after VoIP call

I've just upgraded from E61 to E61i, upgraded phone firmware to 2.06 and... I'm very disappointed about some "improvement" in the Internet telephone. My SIP profile is the same as it was in E61, registration mode "When needed". The phone would register to SIP service and make calls okay. However, if a call wasn't answered and I terminate it with the "End" key, I can't drop WLAN connection. I would go to Internet telephone and disconnect from the service, SIP telephone icon would disapper but WLAN icon would be still showing. There is no way to get rid of WLAN connection, even if I'd drop it manually in connection manager it would re-appear in a second or so. The only way to disconnect is by switching phone off/on.
What's amazing, if a call was answered, everything would be working as it should: once I disconnect from the service in the Internet telephone, both SIP and WLAN icons would disappear.
    Any ideas?

I think it's a bug, too! I don't know how to repeat the upgrade process (the Nokia Upgrade says my firmware is up-to-date) but anyway, the upgrade process terminated normally... I don't think the problem is there.
Note that the problem only occurs when I terminate VoIP call with the "End" key. If the call was answered and terminated by remote hangup, everything's fine.
I never had such a problem with E61. In fact, I never had to use the "Internet telephone" application on E61. When I wanted to disconnect from SIP proxy, I just went to Connection Manager and terminated WLAN connection there.

  • N95-Continuous "Create WLAN connection in offline ...

    Hello All,
I tried using the search and could not find anything on this.
Up until now, i haven't had a problem like this. Upon turning on the phone, i keep getting the "Create WLAN connection in offline mode?" prompt. When i hit "NO", my phone resets! When i hit "YES", sometimes nothing happens and other times, the phone freezes up and then resets.
I have WLAN scanning set to off by default. I held down the options button to check for any apps running in the background that may be causing this, but none are open. (Just the "Standby" icon is present.)
Again, this just started happening. I have recently installed programs like Fring, Shozu, and TruPhone. I thought either Fring or TruPhone may have been the culprits so i removed them both, but the WLAN prompt --> restart issue is still present.
I am curious if others have experienced this. My phone is still V 10.0.018.
Please help! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!Message Edited by adamyuki on 14-Jul-200704:50 PM

I haven't had this happen to me, and I haven't seen any other reports in the forum.
One thing you can try is to reset the phone using the instructions you can find in this post :
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&message.id=4007
However please be aware that doing so will wipe ALL the data from your phone such as information in your calendar, contacts and so on.
In order to save your data you can use the PC Suite application to save and restore the data from your phone - this software can be found here :
    http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
One thing to note is that as part of these diagnostics, you should NOT restore any backup or install any software on the phone as you could be putting the problem back onto the phone.
If this doesn't work then it's likely you have a hardware fault and you should approach your local Nokia Service Centre to get your phone fixed.
    Hope this helps.
Please let me know how you get on.Message Edited by edwardquan on 16-Jul-200701:16 AM

  • A network error has occured. This computer's Internet connection appears to

    Hi all
I keep getting this message evertime I try to open Quicktime but I dont understand it! any ideas?!

    To Apple Discussions!
The following also applies to the original poster Richard Woodger:
What type of internet connection do you have? Unknown if that could be part of the problem especially if you both have dial-up service.
Also, which browser & version were you both using? If the browser was not the latest version, update it, repair permissions & see if that stops the error.
I couldn't find anything to directly connect this error to QuickTime.
See the following Knowledge Base Articles. They may be of some help:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106796 Mac OS X: Connect to the Internet, troubleshoot your Internet connection, and set up a small network
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106749 Mac OS X: Troubleshooting a cable modem, DSL, or LAN Internet connection
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30995 QuickTime Streaming Server: General Information
Until others chime in with troubleshooting solutions, you both may want to research this error on your own by going to the top left of this site & click on Advance Search inside the purple menu bar. In the search field of Advanced Search type in the error code A network error has occured. This computer's Internet connection appears to be online.
    Good luck!

  • Qosmio G30-182: Drops Wlan connection & then cannot find any Wlans

I currently use driver v.11.1.0.100 for Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG, which is the latest driver I found here at Toshiba.
My problem is that I randomly lose my wifi connection, both at my home wlan (using WEP protection) and at my university (WPA-Enterprise). After the connection drops, it is impossible to find any wlan nodes unless I reboot.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? It is kind of frustrating having to reboot randomly because I need my network connection!

    There could be different reasons why the WLan connection is not stable;
    - There could be an compatibility issue between the router and WLna card.
    - The WLan driver is not up to date -> in such case update the WLan driver!
    - If you use Vista OS -> install al Vista OS updates and fixes
    - The weak WLan signal could has a bad influence and the Wlan card would disconnect
    - Check the ALL the settings in the WLan card Advanced options like mentioned [here |http://209.167.114.38/support/techsupport/tsbs/all/-TSB001435.htm]
    - Check if the same issue would appears using other WLan cards (USB WLan stick)
    bye

  • Camera flash on e63 also wlan connectivity

Can anyone help - I just got a re-conditioned E63 and when flash is needed in dark conditions all I get is a blue image on screen! Tried night mode on/off and white balance - doesn't make any difference.
Just a general query - am totally new to Wlan connections managed to set this up with my home computer, but when tried to connect to a known wlan in Spain just would not connect even thought put in correct password - should i have altered anything else? Not techno minded so plain english replies please!
    Cheers

I'm not sure what you mean by hard and soft reset. There's only one reset in Apple terminology. A reset involves pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears. If that doesn't solve the problem the next thing you can do is restore the OS. A restore would likely correct any software glitch that may have developed preventing the LED to illuminate. Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support If that fails to fix the problem the next step would be to have the hardware examined by Apple.
Just be aware if you choose the do-it-yourself route as suggested above you'll disqualify yourself from any after warranty Apple support should anything go wrong now or in the future. Similarly a third party insurance company may have you take the phone to a independent phone repair shop which would also disqualify you from any future Apple support. If you decide to take it into Apple to have it diagnosed they'll likely offer you an out of warranty exchange for a fee rather than replace parts. https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/

My ipad is connected to my wifi, however when i try to sign my ipad into facetime is says that it is having trouble connecting. I use my wifi to get on the internet on my iPad so i have no idea what the problem is. Help Me

    - Did it successfully connect to the network before?
    - Do other devices successfully connect to the network now?
    - Does you iPod successfully connect to other networks?
    - Have you reset your iPod?
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset network connections: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Powered off and then back on your router
    - The troubleshooting here:
iPhone and iPod touch: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
-When you restored you iPod did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod?  If not try that.
    - If you look at the network properties on the iPod what IP address is assigned when you think you are connected but actually have no internet connection.  If it starts with 169 then the iPod never connected to the router, the 169 address are self assigned.

Why does my contacts appear as unknown when receiving calls

Anytime you have photos in the Camera Roll album on your iPad your computing assumes you will want to copy them. If you don't want to copy those photos then just quit Image Capture or whatever other program starts when you connect. Then start iTunes and go from there.

  • I have a IPhone 4s. No WLAN connection possible.

I have a IPhone 4s. No WLAN connection possible. Clearly a manufacturing error. After only 2 years: Apple stores and Apple care ignore it. Who can help me, is there any goodwill department? Christian from Hamburg / Germany

This is a well-known fault, which has affected thousands of iPhone 4S worldwide.
Yes it is a "hardware failure" but the fact is that the hardware fails BECAUSE of a manufacturing error. So let's not get too caried away with the semantics. What appears to have happened is that thousands of 4S phones were manufactured with a faulty batch of wi-fi chips that carried a latent (dormant) fault, which only "fried" the wi-fi chip when people upgraded to the latest iOS from Apple. Especially if they upgraded over wi-fi instead of via iTunes. And of course many upgrades were performed when the phones were just out of warranty. If Apple were still a responsible company they would do what car manufacturers do and recall all the faulty iPhones to replace the wi-fi chip free of charge. Trying to say  "once it's out of warranty we don't care about you"  does not exactly endear Apple to the affected, who are taking to social media in their thousands to try to dissude anyone from buying Apple products. Apple customers deserve better than this.
