5800 XM Contacts Search

Hi! I've upgraded to v50.0.005 and now when searching through contacts by typing only the first letter of a name, it returns all the contacts which name begins with that letter. In the previous version 31.0.101, typing a letter returned the filtered list of contacts together with a keypad showing the available next letters to filter more the list.
Does anyone know if this facility is available in the new version? If it is, how can it be turned on? I could not find any settings related to it.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

That still works on my v50 phone. Go to Menu>Settings>Phone>Touch Input>Adaptive Search>should be set to on.

  • Nokia 5800 contacts search problem after phone swi...

Recently bought a new 5800. Used Phone Switch to retrieve contacts from older Nokia, seemed to work ok.
The problem is that ALL NEW contacts added to 5800 memory appear BELOW the contacts list (not sorted) AND cannot be found via contact search. This is very annoying. How can this be fixed?
    Thanks.

    It sometimes does this.
Unlock the phone, go into the messaging and come back out again.
The "new message" notification should stop now.

  • Passing result list from Contact search to Target group

    Hi,
I have to pass the result list of Contact serch(BP_CONT_SEARCH) to Target group creation component(SEGED_TG). Can you give me the steps that I need to follow.
Note: Here the contact structure is different in each component.
    Thanks.

Yes Srikanth, you need to bind context of result list to SEGED_TG using component controller binding. Let me know if you have questions.
But the question is did you make a navigation from the contact search result to target group creation or is it a standard functionality ?
As per my knowledge we can navigate from Profile set creation creation screen or from Trade Promotions.

  • The chat contacts search functionality is missing

I have configured the chat in thunderbird. It looks well and better but when I searched for a specific contact in my list of contacts(more than 300) by name or Username, I am unable to search the contact and I found it manually.
If there is any addon/extension for chat contact search, Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Jayanti

    I can see nothing.

  • 808 Pureview contact search not working

Hi, i am unable to get contact search to work even after enabling it on the call screen. adaptive search under settings has also been turned on. can someone help?

Try the soft reset and if that does not help, do a hard reset. But remember to back up your device with Nokia suite.
    Hard Reset:
Once backed up, enter *#7370# and when prompted, enter 12345 as the default passcode.
    Hope this helps.

  • Contact search process

    Hello All,
I am trying to understand the process of contact search.
Is it correct that the normal behavior would be:
    - search in Lync adress book (by default in local GalContacts.db)
    - search in Exchange GAL (via EWS)
    - search for personal contacts on Exchange (via EWS)
and then do a merge of these?
And should the filters applied via ABSconfig also apply to contacts found via Exchange GAL (in my situation that doesn't seem to be the case...)?
I am also seeing a different behavior on Lync 2013 (15.0.4711.1002) and Lync for Mac (14.0.11). Is it possible that Lync for Mac doesn't look in Exchange GAL when doing a search?
Thanks in advance for the reponses, I am quite confused regarding this whole search process and cannot find much information about it.
    Gael

I stand corrected. I just read this technet article, https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg429711%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
It seems Lync 2013 gives you results for users that are not SIP enabled as well. It can be changed though. Check the above article on how to limit your search to only SIP enabled users.
"While having full contact records in the Address Book files enables you to use Lync Server to initiate email, telephone,
or Enterprise Voice calls (that is, if Enterprise Voice is enabled on the server) with users that are not configured for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), some organizations prefer to include only SIP-enabled users in their Address Book Server entries."

  • Where is the Contacts Search feature?

I have over 4,000 contacts in my list. I need to be able to search for contacts based on information in other fields besides first and last name. Where can I find the Contacts Search/Spotlight input field or equivalent?

    ** BUMP **
I notice that all the reviews are highlighting how easy it is to SCROLL (browse) the contacts list in the Phone Book, I have yet to figure out how to SEARCH the contacts list. It seems like you can do this when you're entering a Text Message recipient (or, for that matter, addressing an email message), so clearly the ability to perform a "lookup" action is there, but either it's not implemented in the Phone application, or I'm just blind.
So, to illustrate: Right now, I've sorted my Phone contacts by last name. Suppose I want to call "Michael" but I don't know his last name. In Mac OS X (along with the really good smartphones), I would typically be able to enter his first name and have all the Micahels in my contacts list show up. Not only that, I'd also get search results for anyone who worked for a company called "Michael", or even someone who had "Michael" in their notes field (perhaps I'm looking for "Michael's Secretary"?)
I hope Apple is paying attention, because something as simple as a contact search REALLY ought to be part of their inevitable 1.1 release!!

  • Anyone tried to get Jabber to work with Domino for contact search

I have a customer who has recently upgraded to CUCM 8.6.2.22900-9 and Presence 8.6.4.11900-1 fom CUCM 6.x and Presence 6.x. When they were at 6.x they were able to integrate CUPC contact search with Domino server. I realize this was not supported, but they got it to work. Now they want to attempt to get Jabber to work with Domino. Again I realize that is not a supported LDAP for Jabber, but I was wondering if anyone has perhaps tried this and what their experience was.

  • Contacts search function

Any idea when contact search will be available? It would be great if one could search contacts as easy as in Address Book.

Good Idea! But Apple may never hear of it unless you submit it!

  • 5800 Lost Contacts

I had my Nokia 5800 since March and not experience any issues, but today while creating a Contact from an SMS message I was unable to select done in order to save the new Contact and return to the messages.
After waiting some time and I was still stuck, so I held the menu button down to close the app, unfortunately the phone reported a corruption and I no longer have ANY Contacts in phone memory.
Has anyone else experience such an issue?
Even more unfortunately, I had yet to backup the data on the phone.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
    Thanks

I recently purchased a Nokia 5800 express music and after an update it lost ALL the contacts from my phonebook. Well actually..........it couldn't find them.
    First I panicked !!!!!!
But then I scoured and Googled until I found these instructions.......it worked for me GOOD LUCK!!
    Follow instructions carefully
The 5800 stores its contacts in the phone's own memory. If you have contacts stored on your SIM card, you may want to copy them over to your 5800's contacts list.
In theory the 5800 may ask you if you want to copy your contacts automatically, but if it doesn't here's how to do it manually:
On the phone's front page, press the Contacts icon (the grey button on the right at the bottom of the screen). Select "Options", select "Settings", select "Contacts To Display", tick the "SIM memory" box (and make sure the "Phone Memory" box is ticked too), select "OK", select "Back".
You should now be back to the contacts screen, and all your SIM card's contacts will be visible. To copy them into the 5800's memory: select "Options", select "Mark/Unmark", select "Mark All", select "Options", select "Copy", select "Phone Memory".
You should now see all your SIM contacts listed a second time, because they're also in the phone memory. If you find this doubling up to be confusing, you can hide the SIM contacts by doing the following: select "Options", select "Settings", select "Contacts To Display", untick the "SIM Memory" box (but make sure the "Phone Memory" box is still ticked), select "OK", select "Back".
And voila, you have all your SIM card's contacts now transferred to the 5800's memory
    Hope that works for you
    Steve

  • N6700 slide / Contact search in Contacts and Adres...

    Hallo!
I bought Nokia 6700 slide last week. After the first setup of the exchange mail the contact search worked perfectly: when I started (in Menu/Contacts) to write a name and it was not found in contacts of my phone, nokia immediately offered the possibility to search on exchange server and in same screen returned the found contact (if any).
Now, after yesterday´s nokia sw actualization (current version 061.004, 20-Oct-2010; User version 061.004.327.02, 14-Dec-2010) this possibility completely disappeared!
When I now start to write a name and it is not found in contacts of the phone, nokia returns "(žádné shody)" (I have czech language version; in English it means something like "no records found") ...and that´s all. I must then go to Menu\Application\Email\Adresář (Adresář="Adress book") and write the wanted contact in the "Search in Mail for Exchange" field. Contact is then found (if any), so I think that my Exchange mail is configured correctly. Is there any possibility how to get the search function back as it worked before SW actualization (search in Contacts and Adress book in one step)? Thanks for any advice. Vera

Ah yes, reboot had been tried but to no avail.
Before doing a soft reset I take screen grabs of my homescreens which will make things easy to get back to how I want them.
    Doing #7780 soft reset now...
    ...done.
Ah! Messaging threads now show my contacts and their thumbnails
Brill!  Contact Search in dialler is also fixed.
    @no1_slumko Thanks!! Have *stared* you.

  • Dialing and contact search lacking up

About 3 weeks ago my 3gs started to lock up during dialing or contact searches. It wouldn't respond to pad touches, then would suddenly unlock and enter every key I had touched. Contact searches were useless. I've done complete restores. I've made 2 trips to the genius bar...they've even swapped out the phone. The new phone was fine UNTIL I restored from backup...now it's locking up. Voice dialing is fine, and generally dialing from favorites is ok. I'm running 4.2.1, but this started prior to that. I've ntocied the screens 'staggering' a bit between changes.

So don't restore from Backup then?.
If something is messed up in the backup then starting again will give you a nice clean functional phone - no brainer really.
I did it last week and so far, not a single issue.
