5800 xpress music photo editor problem

hi, i've just bought a nokia 5800 and i have faced a problem with the photo editor.
When i try to edit any photo from the gallery i choose edit then add effect the phone close the editor and takes me back to the gallery.
i tried updating the software version of the mobile and restoring factory settings but both didn't help.
any ideas ???

Just check whether your photos aren't damaged or maybe your gallery information is corrupted. Try to format your card first. But keep a backup. Try transferring your images again to the card and see whether this helps?

This is what your product code says: 5800 RM-356 Middle-East_North Africa AE Ramadan Arabic Nav Red v1.
It seems to me that you have bought a 5800 ramadan version which is a special edition device with some ramadan apps. These phones are often stuck with the fw it came with, and will probably not get any updates.
So what you could do is to take your phone to a Nokia care point and ask them if they could update it for you.

Display problem in 5800 xpress music

I had purchased a 5800 xpress music in April 2010. For the last two months there is some problems in the display. Sometimes, the display is gone and only lines are seen, when the key pad lock on. This pevails for long time. Due to this, I am unable to make any call or identify the incoming call. Any solution?

What version of Firmware ? Check for any updates thru' the OVI Suite..
If that doesn't solve the issue, you may try the Soft Reset by dialing *#7370# followed by 12345 (Default security code) when prompted. If you have set your own code, enter that instead... Note that the Soft Reset will erase all data from the phone, so back-up your data before doing that...

5800 Xpress Music Camera & Lcd preview problem

Iam facing the foll problems with my 5800 Xpress Music phone. I always update it to latest firmware.
1. 50 % of times , when I go into snapshot mode or in video mode,
the preview becomes blank and I am unable to operate the camera
2. Worst bug, is recently, some of the stored pics & videos are getting deleted automatically,
3. 50 % of times, the LCD preview shows a blank screen in video play back mode.
please suggest a method to resolve these issues.

Oh I get it. You want for each particular call.
When you go to Menu>Log, you see three icons (recent calls, call duration, packet data). If you notice at the top of the screen, just under the time, and the "Log", there are two tabs. Tap the tab on the right, it will take you to the "Detailed" Log. You can see here a list of all the SMS and calls you have made. Each Item is labeled if its a call, sms, or gprs, and if its outgoing or in going.
Tapping on a call entry will show you call direction (in/out), type (video/voice), DURATION, and number call/calling.

HELP!!! 5800 XPRESS MUSIC INTERNET PROBLEM!!!!!!!!...

Hi,
Im having issues with the internet on my 5800 Xpress music.
I connect which is fine, but then 3 pages into browsing, it freezes the internet, phone and all the menu screens. Then I have to reconnect to the internet and start all over again.
I have already sent one handset back to my network provider, with the same problem, got a new one and now have the same problem.
I have tried to restore factory settings, with no luck!
Please Help!!!

Would suggest that you try deleting E:\cities +.qf file (if present) and re-open Ovi Maps which should re-initialise application and re-create necessary folders to download regional mapping.
Presumably you have the latest version of Ovi Maps installed:http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/ ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk23_b05_s60_5...
Ovi Maps v3.06 uses different map set to v3.04 which can lead to issues and corrupt map data is one of the commonest causes of this application crashing upon opening.

New 5800 xpress music battery problem

soo here goes...
i got dis new new 5800 xpress music just 2 days back...i fully charged it and didnt insert da sim yet....so da phone was actually just on standby mode continuosly.....and yet only after 24 hours it showed battery dead....i again recharged it fully....and again after 24 hours it showz battery dead....wat am i supposed to do?? i faed a similar problem wid my n95 and hence changed da phone and nw dis thing;s again acting up......HIGHLY IRRITTATING!!
wat am i supposed to do....fight with da dealers for giving me a problematic battery or sumthin??

Here is a strong possibility of what the problem is - I have noticed how easy it is to leave some application still running when you shut it down by using the slide switch. Maybe maps or bluetooth - anything really. Before you use that slide switch; display the main menu and look carefully for any item with a little circle near it. Any you find should be turned off by clicking onto that item and then exiting from it by clicking "exit". Now check that menu again to make sure that all items are now turned off.
As a separate precaution; if you keep your 5800 in a flexable pouch; you will find that there is plenty of room for a spare battery (only about £5). The spare would be needed on a long flight or when using the unit as a satnav if not plugged into the cars cigar lighter

Ovi maps problems with Nokia 5800 xpress music

Since Ovi updated the maps I've had trouble using it. I have version 40 firmware which was installed by Vodafone when my device expired. Despite the update, Ovi maps just crashes the phone when I try to use it. The screen goes blank and I get all coloured lines flashing down one side and the phone reluctantly restarts. Any advice please?

I am having exactly the same problem with my 5800 xpress music having updated to version 40.0.005.235.10 and installed the new version of OVI maps and the software Own Voice.
I have also tried reinstalling the sotware, restoring my phone to factory settings and resetting my phone by pressing the green, red and camera button whilst powering up. The problem persists. I will be making a call and within a few seconds of the call being connected the phone switches off and back on again. I also get the the coloured lines flasing on the screen.
Please Nokia Support, help us out.

Problem with Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Hello. I have a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music for about a year now and been taking great care of it. I don't know why but a while ago it started freezing at times when i would try to turn on the camera..had to multiple times restart the phone and remove the battery in order to make it work (In the open applications menu it would show the camera running but you wouldn't be able to use it). Then i noticed that the two touch buttons it has in the main screen (dialing and phonebook shortcuts) wont work either, no matter how many times i press them nothing happens. Same goes for the Green and Red button on the left and the right side of the phone (Accept/Decline buttons), they won't work either when i'm on the main screen (wallpaper), they do work in the main menu though. I tried resetting my phone to manufacturer settings but nothing happened. What is wrong with my phone? Can anybody help me with it very please?

When you say restored "factory settings" I don't know whether you mean that you backed up essential data then keyed in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself); I would remove any memory card first and see if any difference before restoring device.

5800 Xpress Music Time of Call Problem

My previus phone was Nokia 5610 Xpress Music, I had an option "Call log>Options>Time of Call".
Where do i have this option in my current phone, (5800 Xpress Music)?
(I do see the call time durring and right after the call.)

5800 Xpress Music - Supporting software install fa...

I'm using Windows XP SP3 and the latest version of PC Suite downloaded on Nokia website. My phone is a 5800 Xpress Music and I did upload the firmware yesterday.
I'm running into trouble to connect my phone to the PC and transfer data (any kind). I made a clean install of the latest version of PC Suite, then connected my phone to one of the USB ports of my PC and selected "PC Suite" on the phone when asked for connectivity type. Windows recognized the device and installed drivers successfully. When I started PC Suite, it recognized the phone too, but it said that it needed to install some "connectivity supporting software" or something like that. There was also a message saying that I should accept every request appearing on the phone. However,after a few seconds, the installation window said "Failed to install supporting software" without any further explanation. There was absolutely nothing appearing on the screen of the phone. I've tried to install the supporting software again by right-clicking on the phone icon, selecting options and chosing the appropriate action, but the installation keeps failing.
Therefore, I cannot sync any data between my PC and the phone. Also, if I start Nokia Music and choose "multimedia transfer" connectivity mode, the phone appears in the interface, but when I try to drag and drop any song on the phone icon, the transfer immediately fails.
Please tell me what I should do next (I already uninstalled and re-installed the whole Nokia PC software suite twice, which is quite boring and time consuming)

Hi there. Unexpectedly things started working better (but not yet perfect).
I HAD been trying updating the drivers related to the phone yesterday, to no effect. But after giving up and disconnecting the phone I saw a disabled/broken device driver in the device manager tree (under portable devices) and deleted it. Then today I attached the phone by bluetooth and saw NOS start up and say that it HAD installed the supporting software!
In the System event queue there are a few messages about drivers being installed:

Photos, music and messaging seems to have synchronized nicely. Contacts have synchronized with Outlook, but the Calendar is failing to synchronize. After a Sync All I'm getting the message:
"Sync cancelled//Completed syncing the following content types: Contacts and Photos and Messaging.//Failed to sync the following content types: Calendar and Notes.//Reconnect the USB cable to your device or connect vis Bluetooth. Then try syncing again."
I get a similar message syncing calendar alone, with the error code 80043bd4 attached.
Same results if I'm using USB or Bluetooth.
Got reckless and upgraded to Ovi Maps 3.0, which proceeded cleanly.
So partly solved, but calendar (important for me) still not syncing.

Hello, I was wondering if there is any solution on the issue that when the speaker function on 5800 Xpress Music is activated the microphone of the phone makes the interlocutor hear the conversation interrupted or with large differencies in volume. Can the phone be used on speaker at all? Thank you.

Getting "Expired Certificate" message while trying to install some application or games is due to Symbian security consideration
Guides
1. Try re-setting phone clock back by 2 years or so. But this often does not solve the problem in most cases.
2. There are 3rd party tweaking tricks to make ure fone to install using hack method, however, Nokia forums does not entertain this and will never guide u in the negative side of the road.
My best solution is, for u to have a visit at http://store.ovi.com and download some free and also purchase apps and games, even widgets for ure usage. The items from OVI store are pre-signed legally by vendors, so u do not need to worry about 3rd party signing issues.

5800 xpress music messaging has gone very slow aft...

I have recently updated by 5800 xpress music OS and since then the messaging has gone very slow.
it takes lot of time in loading the SMS editor and lot of time in sending a msg.
can some body please give me some solution to improve the speed.

The brass contact that springs into taper on jack plug is on the vertical surface adjacent to where battery charger 2mm pin is inserted, away from all the other electrical contacts which are situated at either 180°or 90° to it for your information.

5800 xpress music issues....!!!!!!

My 5800 xpress music doesn't run videos (movies , format: MP4 & others). It gives the below msg & runs only audio.
Unable to perform audio or video ..., what could be the reason. My file size is 800 MB, which was in memory card.
and also every time it shows memory problem. how do solve this. do i update the software..? if so, how can i update the software in 5800 xpress music..?

I cannot remember the exact settings and using which program, but the problem is the conversion. I've tried a few coders which had suggested settings for 5800 but output on PC can view, transfer to 5800 comes with audio only (well, it did suggest that the 5800 is the first Comes with Music phone ) .. ok ok.. lousy joke..
Anyway, having audio only means the conversion settings is wrong. I'm not a expert in what is the settings.. even the screen size output must be compatible..

Changing MTU in 5800 Xpress Music

Is there any way to change the Maximum Transfer Unit (MTU) on a 5800 Xpress Music phone? My Broadband provider (TalkTalk) requires an MTU of 1432 and from searching the net I believe the 5800 has a default value of 1500.
This is causing my phone to have problems when browsing the internet with some site not loading at all.
Ordinarily this could be changed on the router, but unfortunately my Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-W-G1 does not allow this setting to be changed and on my computer I had to edit the registry value.
The 5800 has the most recent 51.0.006.235.10 firmware.

Not Enough Memory [Nokia 5800 Xpress Music]

i have a nokia 5800 xpress music mobile phone.
recently, i've been facing an error while trying to change my ringtone from the profiles
when i tap on the screen on the ringing tone tab in general profile (or any other profile), an pop-up tells me the following "not enough memory to display all ringing tones, only read-only memory tones will be displayed"
then, when i tap again , the ringing tones menu open but for sure not listing all of my music files !!
i thought it's a firmware problem, i updated my 5800 to the latest v30 firmware, but the problem still persists.
please, feed me back

take out your memory card and consider the first two options. make sure you have a back up and read carefully
1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345
2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)
3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working.If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
