Hi..
Just got the 5800 xpressmusic and was looking up info on the recommended no of hrs for initial charge and unfortunately couldn't find anything in the guide or discussion..
Searched on the net and some said 8-12hrs and others say till the battery bars are full..
Pls do help me out..

You only need to charge it until the battery indicator says that it is full.
Modern phones do not need to be left charging for many hours like older phones needed to be.

5800 xpressmusic vibrates but not turn on

I have had my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic a few months now. I took it with me on a plane to France (from UK). Before taking off I changed the network selection to manual to avoid automatic connection to the French network and incurring high charges.
I recall the process did not go smoothly. I turned the phone off. Once in France I could not turn the phone on again. It vibrates but no lights or display turn on.
I have tried removing, replacing battery, SIM, mem card and fully charging but no change. I think something does go on in the phone because the battery does drain. I have also trid connecting to PC but the PC does not see it.
Can anyone help?

With your 5800 turned off,
Press and hold [Green] + [Red] + [Camera] Keys
Turn phone ON, and keep pressing it until you see the Nokia Shaking Hands Logo

all data will be lost doing this

Update Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software

Hello,
I update my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic through Nokia Suite on my personal computer.
Step 1. Get Started and Step 2. Back up was successfully done. On Step 3. Install, I follow the instructions. Then my phone screen turns white. Then the logo of Nokia and its version was displayed on the screen. Then it shut-down/turned OFF by itself. A message on my Nokia Suite(on my PC) says "Your phone is restarting" and an instructions below says "Take a look at your phone. If it asks you for your PIN code, time and date, or your Nokia account details, type them on your phone. You may also need to choose the Nokia Suite (or Nokia Ovi Suite, or PC Suite) USB mode on your phone. Then wait for the installation to continue.".. So I wait. Then a follow up message show that says "If your phone does not restart, remove and re-insert the battery, charger, and the USB cable. Then switch the phone on.".
So I follow the instruction. I removed and re-insert the battery, charger, and the usb cable. Then I switch the phone on. BUT the problem is.. it doesn't turn ON. Still off. When I long-press the POWER button, it vibrates but it doesn't continue to turn ON. I hear continues pop-up sound on my PC when the USB cable was connected. But still nothing happens.
Your immediate advice is highly appreciated on this matter. Thanks in advance.

Latest version of OVI Maps available here:http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps/free-downloads#/nokia-5800-xpressmusic/
You need to download regional maps to your device with OVI Suite, microSD needed in 5800 and OVI Maps run once with memory card in place.
You don't need a network connection for OVI Maps application to work but the Assisted GPS feature does require network connection for rapid positional acquisition, found in "Location" application.

Problems to sincronize Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic with...

My Nokia 5800 xpressmusic sistematically sincronizes extremely bad with Outlook in Windows 7. Either it duplicates contacts, or sincronizes some and some not, many contacts incomplete but with duplicated info within, or deletes from Outlook contacts that I need, or aborts the sincronisation randomly.
The last time I had erased all the contacts, notes and calendar from the mobile in order to sincronize from scratch with a laboriously just depurated Outlook and what happened? it deleted half of the contacts, the notes apparently sincronized well, and the calendar aborted the sincronization repeatedly. Does anyone have a clue o what is going wrong before I buy another mobile brand?The software in the mobile and OVI Suite are updated. Anyway, this has been happening with previous versions as well. Another problem is that the fields in Contacts do not match after sincronization with those in Outlook, and the information in each contact is partially duplicated and/or incomplete. I can send printed screen of the windows in which the errors have been informed.

I have exactly the same problem.
It is very often impossible to synchronize.
I am able to send SMS-messages (via bluetooth connection), but unable to synchronize.
When clicking on the "synchronize" button or when choosing "synchronize" from the pulldown menu, OVI Suite may or may not synchronize.
I am unable to keep my Calendar in sync.
If this does not get resolved soon, I will get another phone and it will certainly not be a Nokia.

5800 xpressMusic VoIP?

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question - but can anybody tell me, if the upcoming mobile 5800 XpressMusic will come with support for VoIP.

The SIP stack is there on the N96 at least. I can create a SIP profile and register it to my Asterisk server no problem.
The problem is that there is no front-end application like there used to be in FP1 devices such as the N95-1/2. Some FP2 models such as the N78 have had that functionality restored. The N96 is not one of them, though, much to my annoyance

5800 XpressMusic E-Mail Problem

I used for about 6 days the integrated email client of my new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic but now it doesn't work anymore.
It just stays fol a long time "Connecting to mailbox", and after 2-3 min or something, it says "Operation Time-Out".
I didn't change any of the settings
I can fully access the mailbox from the web browser.

5800 XpressMusic can't set Lock Code

I’m having a problem to set up a password in 5800 XpressMusic. I know the default password is 12345, but I can’t change it. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? Thanks in advance
Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone Management > Security > Phone and SIM card > Lock code > 12345 > New lock code > 11111 > Code error

Try to lock your phone by entering default code. Check whether it's working or not.

5800 XpressMusic Mass Storage issue

I've been quite happily using my 5800 XpressMusic as an mp3 player by attaching it to my PC with the USB cable, copying over the songs/book, and then deleting them when done. Suddenly, I'm no longer able to do this, and the contents of one of the folders on the phone seems to have become invisible. to the PC (Attempting to ls the directory gives an input/output error) I've tried resetting to factory settings and also rebooting the machine in case udev or usbfs was to blame, but the problem persists. Any thoughts?

my 5800 having problem with memory stick, every time after i connect with pc and transfer date from my phone or to pc, the 5800 is unable to access to memory stick sms. error msg shows unable to access to memory stick then its switch to phone memory. why its happen and any solution? i already update firmware ver. 31.x.x but still same problem appears.

5800 XpressMusic SIM Registration failed.

I have recently purchased a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone pre-owned from a local market and when I turn it on I get "SIM Card Registration Failed" and when I try to make a phone call I get "Connection error". I have checked the IMEI using http://www.numberingplans.com/index.php?page=analysis&sub=imeinr and it is not shown as stolen. Can anyone help me please?

Does your simcard function with another device? - Have you tried any other simcard in your new phone?
Whats the productcode? It might be simlocked...

Hi Nokia,
I've using my 5800 XpressMusic for the last 3 years it's old and a little busted, but i never what to change this phone.
I annoyed that here in cambodia i can't buy a new housing and i can't find Nokia Care shop.
It would be great if you can restore my phone to its old glory or atleast show me a shop where can i buy a new housing .

Nokia does not sell parts like housings directly to end users. You may find stores online that sell them but given it's age it may now be very difficult to find them. Unfortunately it's against the rules of this forum to post links to part sites. If you can't find a care centre listed on Nokia's website for your region then there isn't one.
Perhaps now is the time to consider one of Nokia's new low cost new models like the Lumia 520 or 620? You'll be amazed at how much better and faster they are compared to the 5800. Also the Asha models are worth checking out.

5800 XpressMusic - V 50.0.005 - Unable to see all ...

I recently updated my phone 5800 XpressMusic to latest firmware V 50.0.005 (Customer Version 50.0.005.C03.01) but I am unable to see many changes. The only changes that I notice are - kinetic scrolling, change in the way browser displays the page and music library. Are these the only changes? Is there a way to check officially, what all changes, is this new firmware supposed to bring in?

5800 Xpressmusic autodelete data

Friends in my 5800 Xpressmusic there are some problem please suggest me solution.
1. More than 450 message deletes automatically when I connect my handset in mass storage mode in a pc in which pc suite was not installed.
2. I can't view my images stored in my handset some of them displays a black screen or some of them shows a message that image is currepted.
3. Sometimes I can't call any where and got a message "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" while there is full coverage shown in display.
At present I am using version 40.0 and I also hard reset my set several times by *#7370# or by pressing green, red, camera and power button. But all my problems are still there.
Please tell me solution.

No updates received for 5800 xpressmusic

Many of 5800 xpressmusic phones hav received the latest update 60.0.003. But still i havn't received one. I tried checking through software updater from laptop but it says no updates available. When will i receive it? Or is there any other way to download it?

Did you also check if its available thru' FOTA ? Dial *#0000# then under Options check for updates.. Some Product Codes got the Firmware update only this way..so pl. check.
..Else, wait till one is released for your Device.
