5800 XpressMusic E-Mail Problem

I used for about 6 days the integrated email client of my new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic but now it doesn't work anymore.
It just stays fol a long time "Connecting to mailbox", and after 2-3 min or something, it says "Operation Time-Out".
I didn't change any of the settings
I can fully access the mailbox from the web browser.

Nokia 5800 expressmusic e mail problem

Ok - I'm probably not being very clever, but I have recently acquired a N5800 and have all my e mails sent thru to me by Nokia mail. Problem is I can't reply to them or send out e mails as they all get sent back un-delivered. Don't know if its related, but I can't open attachments to e mails either. My e mail address is talktalk.net which is working as normal on my pc.
Any suggestions please?

When you sign up for Google Labs, a Starred Item folder is created, but hidden. You will first need to log into your Gmail account and unhide the Starred Items folder in the Gmail account settings. After un hiding the Starred Item folder, please use the following steps to allow Nokia Messaging to synchronize with your Gmail account:
1. Log into https://email.nokia.com
2. Select Edit Settings next to the email account encountering problems.
3. Deselect the Starred Item folder.
4. Click OK.

Problems to sincronize Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic with...

My Nokia 5800 xpressmusic sistematically sincronizes extremely bad with Outlook in Windows 7. Either it duplicates contacts, or sincronizes some and some not, many contacts incomplete but with duplicated info within, or deletes from Outlook contacts that I need, or aborts the sincronisation randomly.
The last time I had erased all the contacts, notes and calendar from the mobile in order to sincronize from scratch with a laboriously just depurated Outlook and what happened? it deleted half of the contacts, the notes apparently sincronized well, and the calendar aborted the sincronization repeatedly. Does anyone have a clue o what is going wrong before I buy another mobile brand?The software in the mobile and OVI Suite are updated. Anyway, this has been happening with previous versions as well. Another problem is that the fields in Contacts do not match after sincronization with those in Outlook, and the information in each contact is partially duplicated and/or incomplete. I can send printed screen of the windows in which the errors have been informed.

I have exactly the same problem.
It is very often impossible to synchronize.
I am able to send SMS-messages (via bluetooth connection), but unable to synchronize.
When clicking on the "synchronize" button or when choosing "synchronize" from the pulldown menu, OVI Suite may or may not synchronize.
I am unable to keep my Calendar in sync.
If this does not get resolved soon, I will get another phone and it will certainly not be a Nokia.

Problem updating Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Hello,
First excuse me for my bad English.
I have just updated my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with the USB cable and plugged into the mains. At the end of the update, a window told me that I could unplug my phone and nothing more since it does not turn over: just a vibration but no screen display. I removed the battery and did another test and still nothing. Is there a solution or should I return it to the VAS.

Hi, Did the phone complete the hard reset? I.e. after the phone is completely started up, it prompts for a country selection? To do the reset, the phone must be turned off first, then hold the relative buttons together / simultaneously while turning on, until prompted for the country selection.
If you managed to complete the hard reset, and your problem is still occurring, then please keep me updated as to how you resolved it, just incase I need to also try it

As you have stated.. the phone is locked to Orange - UK.. You will be able to update only when Orange - UK will approve of that..Since when are you having this phone ? You may contact the Operator in this regard and point out that its almost 2 years old version.. Good if they agree to do that....

Hopeless disk-full error of my 5800 XpressMusic

Dear Nokia,
I'm using my 5800 XpressMusic for quite a long time a I like it for many things: long battery life, ergonomics, etc.
There is one terrible bug though that spoils the pleasure. I'm constantly getting "disk full" error.
I have read all forums/discussions/advises about the problem. I have cleaned up the browser cash and the cash of all other applications. The firm fact is that all the files (including hidden ones) in my C drive occupy about 20percent of its size but the disk is full.
Yes, I know that if do the hard reset, it will help. BUT I JUST DON"T WANT! Last time I did it, it took me hours because the new firmware would not want to install or something.
It is an obvious bug of the file system. Why, dear Nokia, are you making updates of the firmware with new graphical features and (sure everyone needs it) dynamic scrolling WITHOUT FIXING THIS BUG? Can you at least make an app that would recover the lost space?
Is it not a proper message for discussion forums? Probably! But there is no support anymore to contact. All "contact support" links end up here. You are not trying to help your customers with their problems, you invite to discuss them. How nice!
Could you please give some response to the issue? So far i've only seen reports of desperate users trying to fix the problem.

We are sorry to hear this. You may try the below fixes:
Close some applications and try again
In this case there are too many applications active at the same time. The problem can be fixed by closing some of the applications:
Long press the Menu key to see the list of active applications.
Select the applications which are not needed and close them.
If this doesn't help, switch off and restart the phone.
Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory
The phone notifies you if the phone memory or memory card free space is getting low. There can be different error messages shown this situation, for example:
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
"Disk Full : Automatic retrieval of mailbox for exchange disabled"
Free your Phone memory
Transfer some data to the memory card with the File mgr application (select Menu > Applications > File mgr.). Select or mark files to be moved, select Options > Organise > Move to folder and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following items:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Define a shorter sync period in Mail settings to remove retrieved e-mails.
Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
Contact information.
Calendar notes.
Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need.
Use the memory card in the Camera application (select Options > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). Or copy images and video clips to your PC with Nokia Suite.

5800 XM Call log problem, please help!

Recently I got a problem in my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, my recent call are not shown in my call log, Whenever I dial, received or get a missed call....it show's no dialed, received or missed calls...
Ex.I got 9 missed, when I opened it, it shows nothing...blank(no missed calls)
What is the problem and what should I do ? Please help me....

Double confirm ure settings as below,
MENU -> LOG -> OPTIONS -> SETTINGS (Set the log duration to 30 days)
If the above setting matches your phone, immediately, backup ure contacts, messages and do a soft reset *#7370# -> enter standard security code 123456 (unless changed by user)

The SIP stack is there on the N96 at least. I can create a SIP profile and register it to my Asterisk server no problem.
The problem is that there is no front-end application like there used to be in FP1 devices such as the N95-1/2. Some FP2 models such as the N78 have had that functionality restored. The N96 is not one of them, though, much to my annoyance

5800 XpressMusic can't set Lock Code

I’m having a problem to set up a password in 5800 XpressMusic. I know the default password is 12345, but I can’t change it. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? Thanks in advance
Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone Management > Security > Phone and SIM card > Lock code > 12345 > New lock code > 11111 > Code error

Try to lock your phone by entering default code. Check whether it's working or not.

5800 XpressMusic Mass Storage issue

I've been quite happily using my 5800 XpressMusic as an mp3 player by attaching it to my PC with the USB cable, copying over the songs/book, and then deleting them when done. Suddenly, I'm no longer able to do this, and the contents of one of the folders on the phone seems to have become invisible. to the PC (Attempting to ls the directory gives an input/output error) I've tried resetting to factory settings and also rebooting the machine in case udev or usbfs was to blame, but the problem persists. Any thoughts?

my 5800 having problem with memory stick, every time after i connect with pc and transfer date from my phone or to pc, the 5800 is unable to access to memory stick sms. error msg shows unable to access to memory stick then its switch to phone memory. why its happen and any solution? i already update firmware ver. 31.x.x but still same problem appears.

5800 Xpressmusic autodelete data

Friends in my 5800 Xpressmusic there are some problem please suggest me solution.
1. More than 450 message deletes automatically when I connect my handset in mass storage mode in a pc in which pc suite was not installed.
2. I can't view my images stored in my handset some of them displays a black screen or some of them shows a message that image is currepted.
3. Sometimes I can't call any where and got a message "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" while there is full coverage shown in display.
At present I am using version 40.0 and I also hard reset my set several times by *#7370# or by pressing green, red, camera and power button. But all my problems are still there.
Please tell me solution.

How to delete locked files on 5800 XpressMusic

Hello,
I have this problem with my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. There are two files Record1 & Record2 in C: (Phone memory) which are locked and I cannot delete them. They are around 50 MB and I don't have enough memory even to write msg. Please help me.
When I try to delete the files the inscription which pops up is " a file or a folder you are trying to delete, rename, copy or move is protected from access"
Please help me with advice or idea. I hate this files and my nokia.

How do I delete the files that I installed when I used J.A.F installer on my nokia 5800 xm. Please help, some files are deleted when I hard reset the phone but still, the "flash live" home screen theme is there. I installed a Windows like emulator.

Update Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software

Hello,
I update my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic through Nokia Suite on my personal computer.
Step 1. Get Started and Step 2. Back up was successfully done. On Step 3. Install, I follow the instructions. Then my phone screen turns white. Then the logo of Nokia and its version was displayed on the screen. Then it shut-down/turned OFF by itself. A message on my Nokia Suite(on my PC) says "Your phone is restarting" and an instructions below says "Take a look at your phone. If it asks you for your PIN code, time and date, or your Nokia account details, type them on your phone. You may also need to choose the Nokia Suite (or Nokia Ovi Suite, or PC Suite) USB mode on your phone. Then wait for the installation to continue.".. So I wait. Then a follow up message show that says "If your phone does not restart, remove and re-insert the battery, charger, and the USB cable. Then switch the phone on.".
So I follow the instruction. I removed and re-insert the battery, charger, and the usb cable. Then I switch the phone on. BUT the problem is.. it doesn't turn ON. Still off. When I long-press the POWER button, it vibrates but it doesn't continue to turn ON. I hear continues pop-up sound on my PC when the USB cable was connected. But still nothing happens.
Your immediate advice is highly appreciated on this matter. Thanks in advance.

Google maps for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Hi all,
I recently downloaded Google Maps on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. However, when I start the application on my phone, the connections fails to connect to the server. Has anyone faced this problem, or does anyone of you have any solution to this?

Hi, try Options -> Tools -> Connections and select a working connection. It needs at least a data connection to download maps from Google unlike Nokia maps where the maps can be downloaded in advance.
I find that the maps are more detailed in Google compared to Nokia maps though and is more 'eye friendly'.
