Hi all
I have a 5800XM and I love it. My wife also wants to get one and I need to know if it is possible to sync. 2 5800XM's with one PC where each phone has differing contact lists and calendars? I've looked right through the book and it appears to suggest it is possible but until my wife gets hers I won't know. Also, if it don't work then we could foul up our back-ups and lose info.
On another point, is it possible to change the awful red on grey font that displays for names and numbers etc in texts? That is the only fault I've found with my 5800XM. I find it extremely difficult to read under any lighting conditions.

Just create a separate user account on your PC for your wife and you will be able to sync and backup both phones on one PC.
The font colours are determined by your current theme. If you don't like the default theme install an alternative.

If you are using Microsoft Outlook and syncing different contacts is your concern, you can set up a new Contacts folder for your iPhone (like "Jeff's Contacts") and set iTunes to sync that folder only to your iPhone. Create a second new Contacts folder for the other iPhone's contacts and do the same thing. Works great for my iPhone and my wife's iPhone, both synced to our home computer.

I have the following situation. 1 Apple ID. 1 iTune account. I have 2 ipads and 2 iPhones
1- I would like to have a set of 1 ipad and 1 iphone (mine) sharing the same contacts and calendar entries (synching from outlook)
2- I would like to have another set of 1 ipad and 1 iphone (my wife's) sharing contacts and calendar entries but obviously these would be a different set of contacts and calendar entries than mine

CheersHave your wife log in to her user account on the laptop. Launch iTunes, then connect her phone to the computer with the USB cable. Sync. That should put back all apps and media. Since you already upgraded her to iOS 5 she'll have to manually enter all her settings and preferences, and organize her home screens.

Associate your mobile numbers with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

how do you change apple id on icloud on iphone 4 if you already have chosen an account?
itunes accounts are not the same as icloud accounts. It's okay to use the same ID for the itunes account on different devices owned by different users. That way you share purchased items. But for icloud, each user should have their own account if they want their own data, otherwise data is shared among all users.

Set up an additional user account and use one for work and one for personal stuff - each will have a separate address book. Turn on fast user switching for easy switching between the two.

I synced my sisters phone with my itunes and now all her contacts have disappeared and been replaced with mine and also photos... she has never done a back-up is there any way we can get all her contacts and pictures back?
Look under iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is there a backup listed for her phone? First thing done when you sync is an iPhone backup. If you have not synced since screwing her phone up, restoring from that backup(if it exists) should restore her content. Do not sync after you restore her phone, eject it. So, first disable auto-sync on that same device pane in iTunes before you proceed. If this doesn't work, is your sister bigger than you? If so, run 'cause her data is gone .

There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer. Each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes on the same computer.
If both iPhones are synced with the same Address Book under the same computer login account, then the contacts on each iPhone will be the same. With the Address Book on a Mac, you can sync select Address Book Groups only with an iPhone instead of the entire Address Book and all groups. You and/or your wife can create an Address Book Group or multiple Groups to be synced with each other's iPhone only. You can transfer the settings for one email account to one iPhone and the settings for another email account to the other iPhone. -
I have 2 iphones registered under same account, but both phones had different contacts in them, somehow icloud duplicated, exchanged them, and I turned off the icloud on one of them, while doing that it asked me if I want to keep them on my phone or not. I pressed the one saying not to keep them. The iPhone's passcode lock feature is completely separate from another iPhone or iOS device.
All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps. If some apps were downloaded with one Apple ID and then a new Apple ID is created, in order to download an app update that was installed with the original Apple ID requires using that Apple ID and password. -

If you have been previously using iCloud with your old phone, then when you login to your iCloud account with your new phone all the data from the services you were using will be added to your new phone. -

No! Apple is not law enforcement and therefore does not have personal investigating lost or stolen property other than Apple's own.
Even if they had the information data protection laws would prevent them from giving it to you or anybody else including law enforcement. -
Can you have different I cloud accounts on different devices. Like 4 phones with different numbers while keeping them all on the same I tunes account? My family shares one I tunes account but it would be nice to be able to have a different I cloud for family member. Is there a way to do this. Because the I cloud part on the setting on the phone and I pad are greyed out on the phones so you can't change the user.
If they are greyed out then usually this means that the account is not validated on that device. The Delete Account button at the bottom should still work and allow you to remove the current account form the iCloud Section of Settings.
To answer your question, yes. There are four places you can use an Apple ID on an iOS device:
Settings > iCloud
Settings > Messages
Settings > FaceTime
Settings > iTunes & App Stores
The iTunes & App Stores is the only one you want to use a shared (family) Apple ID account. The other three you will want a unique Apple ID for that person to prevent info merging or messages getting shared, etc.
