5d crop removal in lightroom 5

Can someone who has lightroom 5 tell me if its possible to remove the in camera crops from a 5d mark III?  It wasn't possible with 4.4 without a plug in that I couldn't get to work anyway.
I've shot two jobs before realizing the information was gone once imported.
Thanks!

Dang...
Normally I can figure these plug ins out quite easily but just can't get that one to work.
I'm copying from the library as a DNG then running the plugin.  The bar appears and says its working then I go to reset the crop and nothing happens...it stays in the 4x5 format.
Any words of advice MadManChan2000?
Thanks!

  • Manual remove of Lightroom causing problems for re-install with Creative Cloud

Ok. I ran the uninstall of Lightroom 5 from the Control Panel on Windows 7 x64. Re-install from Creative Cloud failed. I then removed all registry entries for "Lightroom", deleted all references on hard drives. I deleted the OPM.db file and relaunched Creative Cloud and I still receive the following error (the same error at every step). Normally I would just ask for the msi and try reinstalling that, but I deleted it.
    Exit Code: 7
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR:

How do I proceed to reinstall Lightroom 5 from Creative Cloud?
    Thanks for your assit.

Thanks Jeff this worked like a charm for me. Anyone else looking, I had accidentally deleted a Lightroom file and I could not run, install, repair or uninstall the program and when I tried to re-install from CC it hung at 42% and gave an error code 7. I tried removing all Lightroom folder from everywhere with no effect. Running the MS Fixit utility allowed me to remove the Lightroom app and then I could re-install with no problems.
    Thanks again

  • Crop tool of Lightroom in CS5?

    Hi,
are there any changes to the crop tool in new PS CS5, that enable a simliar cropping than the cool crop tool in Lightroom?
    Thanks
    Konrad

The only difference between the CS4 and CS5 Crop tools is that in CS5 you can display a rule of thirds or a grid overlay.

  • Add custom crop groups to lightroom 5

In the crop dropdown in Lightroom. There are a couple groups of crop presets. Is there a way to permantly add a group of custom presets? Using the enter custom option only allows you to add so many before replacing previously added custom ones. I want to know if I can add a permanent set just like adding user presets for editing.

This is not currently possible. Your only customization available is the MRU List of the last 5 Custom Crops.

  • Why is the crop tool in Lightroom 5 so sluggish on my otherwise very fast machine?

I'm running a Macbook Pro Retina, new from this time last year.  It's got 16gb RAM, a 768gb SSD (with about 150gb free space), and 2.8GHz processor.  Everything else is lightening fast on my system.  Lightroom is fine otherwise, but the crop tool is almost unusably slow.  When I tap "R", it sometimes takes 5-10 seconds to load into crop mode, and another 5-10 seconds to load out of it.
Additionally, it will show the incorrect preview in crop for the first few seconds, so if I go back to re-crop something, it will act as if I am adjusting the cropped version rather than the original, so if I exit too quickly, it comes back wrong.
I've tried what other users recommended - using both full screen and not, updated to the latest version, restarted multiple times with no solution.  Please help!

I was amazed at the amount of info you put into that post. Thanks for that effort.
I made sure Onyx was up-to-date and ran all the schemes you listed. That did nothing. However, reading further in your support thread gave me some ideas. I started looking into third party extensions and plugins. I recalled installing Silverlight a few days ago, for what reason I have no idea, since I trust Microsoft only marginally more than I trust Google. Which is to say, I don't trust either of them at all. So I threw that plugin into the trash.
I should have checked the performance right there, but I didn't. Right under Silverlight, you mentioned Flash. I decided to check the prefs on it, and found that it was set to allow sites to save info to my computer, and Camera/Mic and Playback were changed from "Block" to "Ask Me". I distinctly remember setting those for maximum privacy. I reset them, cleared all the files, and exited the prefs.
I just checked them again, and everything is changed back to allow Flash to have its way. Looks like I'll be uninstalling that now...
I also installed Acrobat recently, just to have an alternative to Preview. Sea Monkey opened an alert box just now, telling me to watch out for the Acrobat plugins, as they've been known to cause problems. Gotta love Adobe.
Back to the topic at hand, I think it was the Silverlight plugin that caused the slowdown. All my browsers are running at full speed now after I threw that plugin out. (Now if I could just get Safari to allow me to back up a page without re-rendering it every time...)
Thanks very much for the help.

  • Using the crop tool in Lightroom 5 I can only move and crop my photos from the top. Am I doing something wrong?

I am new to Lightroom 5 and find I cannot crop my photos as easily as I did in iPhoto. I would like to be able to drag them if I choose a custom size or crop them from the bottom as well as from the top but my two sided arrow disappears when I work at the bottom of the photo. Am I doing something wrong?

I would suggest you trash the prefs.
    Quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following file:
    com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
    Then re-launch Lightroom
It’s then worth clearing each cache. Go to the top menu bar:
Lightroom >> Preferences >> File Handling (tab)
Click the Purge Cache button under Camera Raw Cache Settings; then click the Purge Cache button under Video Cache Settings. Finally click OK.

  • Camera Raw 7.0.3 pixel crop vs. upgrade 8.0.3 ratio crop (pixel/inches crop removed)

    Greeting all,
I just updated my Photoshop CS 6 camera RAW to 8.0.3 from 7.0.3.
I can no longer have the ability to custom crop by pixel anymore. WTF
    Am I missing something?
I have a job coming up where I need to edit/crop over 9000 event images for a client.
    300 x 240 @300dpi
    600 x 400@ 300dpi
    1800 x1100 @ 300dpi
    1920x1080 @150dpi
    1024x768 @96
It used to be so easy, Whay did Adobe remove this simple feature.
Now it's going to take 2x as long for this.
To deal with this will I have to reinall CS6, I already have the standalone ACR 7.0.3.
The cameras are older and older ACR support is fine.
    Brian

    > I just updated my Photoshop CS 6 Camera Raw to 8.0.3 ...
So you updated to a version that doesn't exist.
    > ... from 7.0.3.
... from a version that doesn't exist either.
    > To deal with this will I have to reinstall CS6 ...
All it takes to switch from one Camera Raw version to another is to swap a single file (the Camera Raw.8bi file). But hen, who would want to revert to an older version? The latest version has more features, not less. See the workflow options.

  • Removed from Lightroom; Now, want to delete from Disk - how to identify?

    Here's what I did:
    - I removed a bunch of images from Lightroom, without Deleting from Disk.
    - Now, I want to remove those images from the Disk, the ones I deleted from the catalog
Is there any good, quick way to delete the "un-cataloged" images out of the hard drive folder, leaving the folder containing only the images still in LR? Perhaps, to move the images still in LR to another folder, then clean out the folder of what's left?
Also, am I missing something obvious about this process?  I *usually* just flag images for deletion, but this time, without thinking, I actually deletedthem...but from the catalog only.  Whoops.

A clever way someone else suggested recently:
Synchronise the folder - all the deleted photos will be reimported, and will be added to the "Previous Import" collection
Select all the photos in the "Previous Import" collection and delete them

Yes, if there are a lot of images, that is obviously quicker.

  • Hi can anyone help,  Crop problems in Lightroom

Whenever I work on a raw file in Lightroom 5 then open in CS5 for final tweaks the crops I made in Lightroom are not carried over into photoshop
although all other corrections are. Am I doing something wrong! I work on a Mac and all software is up to date

    Rafael Aviles wrote:
Jim, when opening a raw file from LR into PS, there is no dialog offering the choice of "a Copy with LR adjustments". I believe those options are only for non-raw files.
I tried to replicate the OP's problem, but when I edit a raw file in PS after cropping and lens correcting (upright) in LR, the file opens fine in PS, with the crop and the upright showing up fine. I do have PS CC 2014, though, that's why I wondered if CS5 is capable of handling lens profile corrections. The OP stated that is just the Upright correction that does not carry over, not the crop.
The reason you don't see the dialogue offering the choice is because you are using CC, and everything between Photoshop and Lightroom is in sync. However, the OP is using Photoshop CS5 with Lightroom 5, and should be seeing that dialogue unless they have chosen the option not to ask again. Then Lightroom will simply make the choice that has been made. When Photoshop and Lightroom are not in sync that dialogue should display, even (maybe especially) for raw files. This response is sort of after-the-fact because it looks like the issue has been cleared up.

  • Lightroom 5 not removed after lightroom CC upgrade

    Hi,
I am on CC plan (Photoshop+Ligtroom). After upgrade to Lightroom CC, Lightroom 5 is not removed and still opens up.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    -Pinaki

    Hi Pinaki,
No, your prior version will not be uninstalled.
Lightroom CC will be installed side by side. You may uninstall the prior version one you’re comfortable in the new version of Lightroom.

  • Aperture Crop Features vs Lightroom

I have been running the Aperture trial and I like the look of version 3 and its nice integration with Mac and other significant features.
But, I really like the crop guide overlays in Lightroom (there are about 4 of them). Are there plug-ins that would offer the same overlays in Aperture?
Also, I can't seem to control the brightness in the part of the image that is outside of the cropped area when working on the crop. Is there any way to do this in Aperture?
These seem like small things but for me critical in the creative process. Any ideas/info on this?

The Lightroom overlays are nice. Go to Lr (if you have it), go to crop mode ("r"), and then cycle through the overlays by pressing "o".
Afaik, this is not available in Ap3. Recommend via "Aperture>>Provide Aperture Feedback".

  • Cropping issues in Lightroom

I am having problems in Lightroom with photos not holding my crops.  When I return to a photo that I have cropped previously, it automatically goes back to the original photo cropping when selected.  I have LR 5.  This is driving me crazy!!  Is anyone else having this problem and what can I do to fix it?

I find that sometimes the full image is displayed while Lightroom is reading from the catalog. But the cropped version always displays in less than 1 second. If you want better help, provide some information (OS, Lightroom version, RAM, etc.).

  • Cropping question in Lightroom

    Hello,
After cropping in lightroom, say a 5x7 Ill open it in Photoshop. I just noticed when I check the image size it isnt 5x7. Ive tried this a bunch of times now, and can never get the image sizes to match from Lightroom to Photoshop
    Thanks MG

I have the same problem as reported above. In the past I could simply annotate in the Export window the size. Currently it does not convert from WxH@72dpi to WxH@300dpi. I have checked & unchecked "Don't Enlarge" etc. Must be a simple setting but I am stuck. I want standard print size dimensions 8x10 at 300dpi vice 33x72 inches @72. Must be a simple switch I inadvertently must have changed something. Any ideas?

  • Fuji X-Trans Sensor - Fuji X-E1 Chroma Smearing and Crop Problems with Lightroom 4.4RC

Like others, I found that Lightroom 4.3 caused chroma smearing on my Fuji X-E1 files.  I compared 90 shots I did today processed with Fuji SilkyPix RAW converted and LR 4.4RC.  It appeared to me that the chroma smearing problem is solved.  I did not see the chroma smearing, even at 3:1 zoom.  The .tiff files from SilkyPix and the .dng files from LR, appeared practically identical which was not the case with LR 4.3.
There was some discussion of purple fringing with the X-E1 and the Fuji 18-55 on this forum.  I did not see this in my backlit shots today.  I believe that the problem can be greatly reduced or eliminated by avoiding over exposure in the camera.  I have found when faced with very bright skies and darker foregrounds that I get better results by metering the sky, and then over exposing only 1 to 1-1/2 stops.  If I cannot do this, I get good results by properly exposing the subject.  If both the sky and the subject are over exposed, the fringing appears around the subject.
I was also happy to see that my files are no longer coming into Lightroom cropped.
It looks like I will be able to use Lightroom for my Fuji files with the 4.4RC.

The results of my experiments are different than what is being said, here, and different than I expected.
My DNG Conversion options are as listed, above, and did not include setting Custom with Linear as a conversion option, but merely setting ACR 6.6+ as the compatibility.  If there is some way to set Linear along with ACR 6.6 compatibility I’d like to know how.
My guess would be that either Adobe is making a linear DNG in this specialized case of X-Trans, to make things compatible with older ACRs that have no idea how to decode X-Trans--which is the promise of converting to DNG, OR Adobe is modifying the X-Trans data to have it be more like normal Bayer layout of still one-color-per-pixel so not demosaicking, exactly, just re-mosaicking.
    Anyone can repeat my experiments:
