5D Mark II tethering question

I love this feature, but is there a way when tethered shooting to have the camera not write to the CF card and only transfer the image to the computer?
If you have shot a number of images and shut down the camera, it takes FOREVER for the camera to "connect" to Lightroom when you restart it.
Much appreciated.
Best,
derek

Simply remove the CF card from your camera. LR3 will continue to transfer the images to your computer. This it the way it works on my 5D <non mark II>

    Is there a way to shoot with my 5D Mark III tethered to Lightroom on a Windows 8 computer and transfer only jpg images to Lightroom, and write the RAW files to the SD card?

    And the advantage or reason for doing this?  Aren't all the files going to wind up on the computer anyway?  Where I might add, they are much safer?  I thether to LR a lot especially when I do school yearbook group shots.  Personally, I prefer my files off the camera as soon as possibile.
    As a computer person, I agree with you, at least in principle. But I think the OP's position is that whatever else you do, it's best to capture the image as soon as possible and as close as possible to where it was formed. Sending it to the computer as well is great for redundancy, but sending it only to the computer involves a risk, however small, that it will be garbled in transit. That said, you're apt to notice it right away if something does go wrong. But it you used to be able to send the image to both places, why can't you do so anymore?
    FWIW, I suspect that the answer may be that the computing power of the camera is somehow challenged by the extra transfer, thus slowing the process down.

  • Canon 5d mark III  tethered to Lightroom 4

    Any info on when canon 5d mark III will be able to worked tethered in Lightroom 4

    You know Adobe needs to give money to the camera manufactures so they can have access to a special SDK's that allows ADOBE to develop software that the manufacturers are not willing to develop themselves. The ability to tether in Lightroom with my 5dMKIII is just one of the features that I am missing out on. I have a cobbled workaround, but it is lame. Capture one can tether a 5d mkIII but they have some weird stipulations, for example they cannot bring a Raw M or Raw S file into the application. The Canon SDK for the new gen of Cameras is really a tough nut to crack, so it seems. Speaking to Julieanne Kost in person she say the tethering option is not available and she does not know when it will be available. She didn't give me specifics, she did say if more customers complain about not having the feature that the Lightroom team would make it a priority. So Here goes, Dear Lightroom Team Please get your stuff together and make tethering in Lightroom 4 a top Priority!

  • How to mark my old questions as answered?!

    Hi,
    For some reason my old topics are not linked to my account:
    792341
    After forum was renewed I've got absolutely empty account (Alex.UA) without points and topics.
    Is there any way to link my old stuff so I could mark questions as answered and assign reward points?
    Thanks

    Typically, this behaviour happens when people update their email address used to access their account, and the process that deals with that behind the scenes mistakenly creates a second account for the new email, and somehow prevents access to the old account.
    You will need to contact the email address otnfeedback_us at oracle.com telling them what your problem is and providing the links to your two accounts.  They will then be able to put your new email address/login details against the old account again (though they cannot merge posts from this new account back to the old one).

  • Canon 1DS Mark III tethered shooting confusion

    The Aperture 2.0 manual says it supports the 1DS Mark III: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1085
    The Apple website doesn't include it in supported cameras: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1085
    Does anyone know which is correct?

  • Tethering Question

    Hi,
    I am having an issue with my WiFi access on my Mac - I am unable to connect to my network. My iPhone, however, is able to connect. I am currently tethered to my phone using USB.
    My question is whether the phone is using WiFi or cellular when dealing with data to and from the Mac. I can't really tell from download speed and I want to make sure I am not using my data allowance.
    Thanks,

  • Possible to mark thread as question after marking it as answered?

    I posted this topic a little earlier: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/756129?tstart=0
    I thought I had got all the help I needed, but then followed it up with a further question. Is there any way for me to mark that thread as a question again? Or should I start a new topic? What is the best forum etiquette?

    Salut Nicolas
    Yes you are right especially about the people that are asking something (with the question flaw activated) but it seems that they aren't using the feature of question answered.
    Would it be possible to send an email reminder to the people that have got answers and that they have to response giving the best answer to the questions?
    Unfortunately I have also to agree that it is in deed useless if the questions still pending as non answered, but people have got the correct answer. Sometimes we can see that the people that asked something write back "thanks a lot for your help this is giving me the answer" but the status of the question still in answered.
    regards,
    Hubert

  • Marker/End Jump Question??

    Hi,
    I'm creating a menu where I have 10 buttons that link to a solid video track with 9 commercials on it. There are markers in DVDSP before each commercial. The first button is "PLAY ALL" which, when clicked, will of course play the whole video track of all 9 commercials. The following 9 buttons are each of the names of the commercials and when clicked, it takes the viewer to the marker in front of the corresponding commercial. I figured out that if I set the "End Jump" of the marker back to it's button in the menu, it does so. The only problem is that if I set the marker to end jump back to the menu, when the "PLAY ALL" button is selected, it still "end jumps" back to the menu after the first commercial. Is there any way to have the "PLAY ALL" button bypass the marker end jumps? Is the only work around to also have separate tracks each with separate commercials on them? I will have 4 menus and a total of about 35 video clips if I do this and will take forever and also take up a lot of space on the DVD.
    Let me know if anyone knows a way around this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eddie

    no - you should be able to see and hear the result in simulator.
    You could try building the project to your hard drive and using DVDPlayer to open the Video_TS folder and test it from there.
    Did you create 9 stories with a chapter in each (removing the end jump command on each chapter marker), or did you add one story and add all 9 chapter entry points to is as your play all?
    In my opinion, the latter is the better way to go.

  • Crop and Tethered Question

    At work I have been given a Aluminum PowerBook to replace a 633mhz TiBook. The new PB doesn't have a licenced copy of C1Pro but it has Aperture. How do I lift and stamp a crop? Also when shooting tetherd with model shoots "Nightmare"; If you shoot a burst then none of the images download, just lost forever. Another thing when shooting tethered how do you change projects without going to the workflow folder throwing every thing away, then having to start fresh with automator.

    The same happened to me, well, almost, when shooting with less than 4 seconds between pictures, my camera software did received every single picture, but the problem seems to be from automator being too slow to quickly read the images that are received in the folder and uploading them to Aperture, where I finally received half of the pictures shot. Since all of the images where in the original folder in the desktop, I assume this is an automator bug rather tha Aperture's. Any idea?

  • Tethering Question (Wifi, Bluetooth, and USB)

    I have an iPhone 5 and am able to tether  my LTE/3G connection to other devices. When I enable tethering, devices can get connected via Wifi, Bluetooth, or USB. Let's say I use my MacBook Pro to connect to all of those at once (so now the MacBook Pro is connected to the internet via Wifi, Bluetooth, AND USB). Does it use one of them over the others or does it use all of them at once to provide the fastest speeds?

    Does it use one of them over the others or does it use all of them at once to provide the fastest speeds?
    As has been pointed out above the Internet connection is provided by the phone through the carrier so even if the Mac did connect using all three connections, USB, WiFi and Bluetooth they would all be combined into one connection once in the phone  and out to the net so there would be no speed advantage, the phine and internet connection would be the bottleneck.
    In fact it is possible the speed would be lower as the phone would have to contend with the 3 connections into it.

  • Undo Mark as Junk question

    When I mark an InBox message as junk, it flags it as junk and moves its to the Junk box. But when I "undo" it only removes the junk flag -- it does not return the message to the InBox.
    Is this a feature or a bug?

    Feature. You need to manually move it from the Junk folder back to the inbox.

  • This is a test of mark as question from Spell Check.

    This is marked as a question in the main form. I will go to spell check and submit from there. If it isn't marked as a question it is because that setting doesn't persist to the spell check form and subsequent submittal. If that is the case how do we get that fixed?

    Hi Doug,
    Yes it is. The workaround is that one can go into the post and set the flag again.
    I know this is not great, but works until we find the time to change it.
    Best, Mark.

  • Flash changes apostrophe to question mark when saving data?

    Hi,
    Ok these are the steps I take to create the problem within my Flash application.
    1. Copy and paste a string from a word.doc which contains an apostrophe
    2. I then save this data to a XML doc.
    3. reload that XML data, now the apostrophe has changed to a square box
    4. I then resave this data
    5. I reload this data and now, the square box has changed to a question mark.
    My question is, how do I stop this from happening other than not copying from a word doc?
    Is there something extra I have to do when parsing the string into its saved format.
    Currently what happens is:
    1. Pass the string from the input box to an object
    localTextObject.textData = myInput.text
    2. The object is then parsed through a custom Object to XML parser
    for example:
    textNode.text = "";
    textNode.text.appendChild( localTextObject.textData );
    3. And then an XML file is saved local with this data in it.
    Does Flash do something wonderful along the way as so by the third time around we have gone from a speech mark to a question mark?
    Any help with solving this problem would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Apostrophes from word aren't part of the normal ASCII character set. They've been mucking up plain text forever...
    You can use a RegEx to strip them out, or just change them to regular apostrophes. Something like so should work:
    reg = new RegExp("“", "gi");
    m = m.replace(reg, "");

  • I won't mark my archived, unanswered questions as 'answered'

    The 'My Questions' link brings up a list of questions I've posted, with the as-yet unanswered ones at the top of the list, begging to be marked as answered. But they can beg all they want, because they weren't answered and that's that.

    That's entirely your call. Just curious ... why were
    you thinking that you were required to mark
    them as answered?
    I wasn't. I was, however, noticing that every time I post a request for help with a problem yet receive no responses that solve the problem, the list of unresolved questions on my My Questions page grows by one, and, further, I was thinking that, since those questions eventually become archived and it's therefore impossible for anyone to answer them if they haven't already, it behooves Apple Discussions to allow the option of marking an archived question as 'Never Answered', or otherwise remove such old, unanswerable posts from the most prominent position on the My Questions page, where the administrators seem to have positioned them so as to encourage me to flag them as answered.
