5D mark3 -- does it need to be "optimized"?

I am importing media (as files, since I cannot get FCPX to recognize my camera/card archives), and I am not sure if I should be having the footage transcoded, or what effect that will have. When I try it, it does not seem to make a difference (beyond the big file size), but I might be missing a step. I am not having performance issues but rather the footage I edit looks less "crisp" then the final output, even when viewed on YouTube. I have selected "high quality" (vs. better performance") in preferences, but other than that... why does the footage look muddier now in FCPX than I am used to seeing, despite much higher quality output outside FCPX?

I got an additional question bout this topic:
is it possible to use both at the same time? in my case cable-connected speakers in the living-room and an Airplay-speaker in the bathroom and/or kitchen?
so I select the Airport Express as Airplay-Output on my iPad and from there it's shared via cable AND wireless? this would solve the problem of being able to only select ONE Airplay-Output on my iPad at the same time...

Need help in optimizing the process

I need help in optimizing my process. Here is what am I doing:
I have two tables table A and table B. table A has list of names and table B has name and ID. Right now I am loading name into cursor from table A and for each name from the cursor I try to match with name in table B to get the ID. This process takes very long to complete. I need help to replace PL/SQL with SQL if possible. I am using oracle utl_match to match the best possible record in table B. table B sometimes returns multiple matching records. I take the top nearest match name and ID for my use (there is not always one to one match)
Any idea or help will be appreciated. Thanks

always provide create table and sample data instert statements when asking a question. also, provide your database version.
because you're using utl_match, you can't really use an index, there must be a cartesian join on the two tables so it may always be slow.
however, here's a sample SQL that you may be able to make use of:

"that clip needs to be optimized"

I'm trying to add a clip to a movie trailer, and every time I select video, I get the "Alert - That clip needs to be optimized" window. I've optimized it multiple times, both "full" and "large" but it gives me the alert every time. I can't delete the shot from the trailer (ie, and just bypass the need for another clip), but I also can't add any of the video in.
Help?

Right-click on the clip (or Control-click) and see if it offers to optimize. If so, say Yes.
You can also right-click on the clip in the Event and see if it offers to optimize. If so, say Yes.
If it does not, come back and I will give you a different way to optimize.
If you want to understand what is going on when you optimize, your camera shoots in a very compressed format. This is usually either AVCHD, h.264, or MPEG2. These are called Long GOP (group of pictures) compression techniques. See my post here for why it is good to convert to i-frames (or optimize) before editing.

Need hints for Optimizing Photoshop CS4 on Leopard / Intel MacPro

Just wondering if anyone had any hints for optimizing PS CS4 performance on Intel MacPro ( I have the 2.66 Dual-core Xeon) My MacPro has the upgrade ATI 1900 video card which I think is GL enabled. From what I have read CS4 now accesses the ATI 1900's GPU memory for increased performance. Is this correct? Does anything need to be configured or does CS4 automatically detect the ATI 1900 GPU?
Any other configuration in CS4 that need to be set?

Open Photoshop's preferences (Command+K). Click on Performance at the left. The lower right portion of the settings will say if PS detected a compatible video card. If it did, the check box for "Enable OpenGL Drawing" will already be on.

That may help you decide whether or not you want it on. Personally, I turned it off. One big reason for me is paths. I have to create a LOT of paths for client work. With OpenGL on, paths can be difficult to downright impossible to see as you draw them, depending on the color of the underlying pixels. With OpenGL off, PS uses the standard complementary contrasting colors. Much easier to use.

You can use XP but it has to be in a Virtual Machine and OS X as the host instead of as a dual boot system with XP in its own partition. That is how I run Windows on my Mac, in a Virtual Machine.
Take a look at VritualBox from Oracle. It's free and works very well.

Reporting Services Add-in for Sharepoint- does it need an SQL Server license?

In a new project we will be creating an SSRS in Sharepoint integrated mode. For this we'll need SQL Server and Sharepoint on that box.
We'll also have one or more SharePoint Web Front End (WFE) servers. To allow them to connect to the SSRS-in-sharepoint-mode box, and to present the user with the right user interface for doing so, I believe we can install the Reporting Services Add-In for
Sharepoint on the WFE servers.
The question is, do we need to have SQL Server license for each WFE server where we use the Reporting Services Add-In, or is it free to use?
We've had advice that we need to buy a SQL Server license everywhere we use the add-in, but I am not sure this is correct.

The Reporting service Add-in for SharePoint can be downloaded free on Microsoft Download site. That means it does not need any license on the add-in.

Does everyone need to use the same Apple ID/password for iTunes & App Store in iOS 8 Family share?

I just set up Family share on my 5S and my wife's 5, both running iOS 8. I am the organizer.
In order for my wife's purchases to be charged to my CC (per Family Share setup), does she need to be signed in under my Apple ID and password under Settings -> iTunes & App Store? Or, can she use her Apple ID (that she used with her previous App Store purchases)? Additionally, if she makes purchases in iTunes or the App Store under my Apple ID, does she need to enter my password?
If she's logged into "iTunes & App Store" on her phone, using her Apple ID, will it work?

3G coverage and overall performance between Verizon and AT&T varies depending on where you are, and depending on where you are you may have no 3G service at all with any carrier.
The other consideration is the price-points of various data plans, they differ between size and cost.
But all plans are month-to-month, meaning that you can turn the service off anytime you want, and for as long as you want, but when you activate 3G service you pay for 30 days of service regardless if you turn 3G off (so turn it off on the 29th day if you won't need 3G next month). You can do all of this right from the iPad, and you don't have to set anything up at the time of purchase (other than choose your carrier). But in Adobe Flash Media Administration console, It is missing the License(Serial Key)

This Activation Key is only for identification purposes. In most cases, you will not have to use it. Once you subscribe to FMS on AWS, you are ready to go and use FMS AMI's.
Also, FMS on AWS does NOT require any License or Key. It works on a separate Licensing model.

How to create an OAF page that does not need login to access

We have a lot of Oracle users, and everyday there are some users forget there username or password and need reset. I really want to use a web page to let them reset their passwords automatically. The web page will call the API to reset password if it found the user request is legible.
So based on the situation, the users should not need a login to get to this page, can I do this using OAF?
And idea is welcome, thank you for your help!

Thank you for your response, I think we need to go back to my original question, is it possible to create an OAF page that does not need login, how can I do that.
I think I said too much and led us to go to a different direction I did't want to. But I am still glad to texplain why I need a custom password reset process, that is all about business requirement, here it is:

I already have a solution for that. Create a custom OAF page, ask user to input his SSN / Date of Birth.... then I can figure out what his real username easily. And I can reset his password as his SSN or something which only this particular user knows. Then he can login.

no need to go for an expensive HDMI cable as Varjak Paw rightly suggests.
Pretty much all of them come with 1.4 standard these days.
The difference in price is made by additional shielding and material used for the wire - hardly ever needed at home installations - unless you get interference from other devices.
on the other note.
one HDMI in your TV is obviously not ideal as well as using HDMI splitter or hub - but it should work.
Also I know cases that some LG TV models do not work with Apple TV - which was confirmed by LG technical support.
Those are rare cases and i do not want to worry you at this stage.

If you want to use 3G services, then yes you will need a sim card in your 3G/wifi iPad - but if you just want to use wifi and/or the GPS capability of the iPad then you don't need to activate a 3G service with it
