5D Mk II Tethering...?

Has anybody tried to shoot tethered with A3 and Canon 5D MkII?
In A2 it recognized the camera, but there was no way to release the shutter (it simply did not work),
TIA

I went to a seminar on Aperture 2 put on by Apple and bought in to the whole Apple/Aperture concept. I bought a 27" quad core I-Mac, and a Mac Book Pro. Both machine special ordered with high speed drives, extra ram, the fastest video cards available, and 2 copies of Aperture, one for each machine to stream line picture transfers. Total cost almost $7000.00 to change over from PC to Apple. I go and try and tether my Canon 1Ds MkIII and no go. I spent a day trying to figure out what I was doing wrong only to find out, Aperture does not support the Canon 1Ds MkIII. So now I use the Canon utility to tether, then save the pictures to a flash drive, only to load them into the 27"I-Mac. If the person told me this when I was buying all of this, I could have saved almost $3000.00 on the Mac-Book Pro and just bought some $500 laptop and used the Canon utility. Funny how you only learn this after you buy their stuff. I wonder if Apple would like to refund all this money and take back their custom built Mac-Book Pro.
In any other industry, you'd be sued till you were dead...not in the work of computers.
Canon is also to blame with all their secrecy. Apple markets Aperture as a "pro" application, just don't connect a pro camera to it.
Apple-Be more forthcoming to your cutomers and you'll get credit for being honest
Canon-You'd be a lot more popular if you'd work with high end photo editing software companies like Apple. All would benefit. Now all you'll get from us is, "watch out Canon equipment isn't compatible with third party supplier".
Wake up you guys, there should be no problem these days connecting to each other. Sony tried conering the market years ago, only to laughed at, and turned away.

  • Possible Internet Tethering/Battery Life Issue

When either Cellular Data is turned Off, or Airplane Mode is turned On, Internet Tethering (Settings>General>Network) appears to have some process that runs continually in the background (evident by continuously spinning wheel next to the option). The running process has a demonstratively negative impact on battery life (1/3 reduction in ~ 30 mins). The Apple Genius at my local Apple Store and I verified the issue on numerous iPhone 4s that were on display. Turning Cellular Data On and ensuring the phone is not in Airplane Mode stops the activity. But obviously that defeats the purpose of having those options.
So if you are experiencing poor battery life, this might be your issue.

  • Unable to shoot tethered with a Canon 70D

I am trying to practice shooting tethered for an upcoming shoot. I am unable to get Lightroom and my Canon 70D to connect. I receive the dialog box shown below several seconds after attempting to connect. I went through all the steps on the "Troubleshooting tethered capture in Lightroom" and can shoot tethered using Canon's software. I am using Lightroom 5.3 on a MacBookPro 13 inch with 16 gb ram running system 10.9.1

Lightroom does not currently support tethering on the 70D.

  • Anyone know how to get VPN to work tethering using iPhone 5 (AT

I was able to tether my work computer to my iPhone 4 (Verizon) iOS 4.xxx just fine... I have to tether, then log into my work computer through a VPN.  I just upgraded to the iPhone 5, and switched to AT&T because I was sick of getting kicked off VPN and Outlook every time I answered a phone call.  WIth AT&T and the iPhone 5 I already tethered and talked... and it works great!  Today, i was going to test my work computer... and I can get the computer to tether... but it won't work with the VPN, leaving outlook and sametime useless.  I seen old strands where this problem had resolution, but the new iOS has different settings.. and those past functionality appear to be missing.

Thanks for everyone who read this thread. I came up with a solution to my issue, and I'm now able to tether my work computer to my iPhone 5 (AT&T) and log into VPN and see all my internal work apps. My IT guy at work had me change the settings within VPN itself (so had nothing to do with the iPhone 5 or AT&T) to "Enable local LAN access (if not configured)" under Advanced/Preferences in settings.
I'm super pumped!!! As the 4G offered incredible speeds compared to my 3G Verizon iPhone 4.

wow, this just happened to me. Tethering was working for me yesterday. After my update to 4.1 (not sure if this has anything to do with it) it no longer works. The tethering network connection is there in my network connections, but it shows as disconnected. I run windows 7 64 bit.
Just to rule out things, I tried it on my work laptop which runs windows XP.
I also just tried it out on my girlfriends macbook pro which runs OS X (10.4)
    freaky....

i uninstalled itunes on my windows 7 PC, restarded and reinstalled it.
tethering worked ONLY for the first time. after that it's the same problem, network cable is unplugged.

  • Rogers 920 on T-Mobile Tethering Not Working

    Hello,
I bought an unlocked Rogers CA Nokia 920.3 device with pentaband support for use on the T-Mobile network. I entered the APN settings for MMS and internet manually and everything works fine except the internet sharing only works some of the time and other times I get the error "There's no cellular data connection to share right now" even if there is cellular availability. The internet on the phone is fully functional, just not the sharing. I have an unlimited plan with tethering on T-Mobile and should not be having this problem.
I have so far tried the spanish keyboard trick and the foreign SIM configuration trick and they work some of the time but only temporarily. I have tried installing access point which ends up taking me to T-Mobiles website to add tethering (even though I already have it), so that does not work.
Long story short, the access point application does not set up the phone for proper tethering on T-Mobile and the stock unlocked Rogers ROM does not work consistently. AP needs to be updated and fixed or some other setting somewhere else in the phone is awry. Is there another ROM I can use and keep pentaband support with tethering? Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Chris

  • IPhone 4 tethering, but the phone isn't the problem!

Okay, it seems as though the vast majority of people are having problems with their iPhone 4's not connecting, or in Windows, it's causing their systems to freeze. Well, I'm actually having the exact opposite of this. iPhone good, MBP sad.
Problem (Long): Plugging in my iPhone 4 via USB and using tethering causes my new MacBook Pro to freeze after only a few minutes use (a few minutes being about 10 or so). I have used it before without troubles, and I'm noticing that both times I streamed YouTube videos, as well as videos from blip.tv (Flash videos). I can rule out the browser, as Safari and Firefox both locked up (well, the system went kernel panic on me). Essentially, looking at the crash report, a networkUI something or other took a dump, hence the panic.
I'm assuming that the large amount of data that's being streamed through the phone is causing it, since prior times I've just browsed the interwebs, and it worked just fine. I'm on AT&T, I have 3G, and I'm getting about 2-3 bars (the place I'm staying has Wi-Fi, but it's horrendously slow, and the walls here are lined with lead I think, hence the low signal).
Am I right about what I'm thinking? Large data over kinda hokey 3G signal causes OS 10.6 to freak out? Seems most likely.
Problem (Short): iPhone 4 tethering causes my MacBook Pro to kernel panic and it's cause of some networkUI nonsense. iPhone 4 is unaffected.
I'm not super duper worried about a rapid response, as I'm pretty sure this is the reason why. However, I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem, and if they have, was it the same conditions?
Oh, and for those that are curious, my MacBook Pro is only two weeks old, with all updates installed.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!! :-D

Using the supplied iPhone Charger and Cable... Connect to the Mains Outlet for at least 20 to 30 Minutes.

  • Internet tethering from iphone to ipad

    Hi there
Does anyone know how/tried to access the internet via an ipad that doesn't have 3G by tethering the device to their iphone, in my case a 4G?
I have looked up this issue on a number of forums and there is some suggestion it might be possible.  If you go to Settings General Network then an option to tether might show up.  However from what I have read this may not show up if your provider does not suppport this option.  I am with Tesco and it certainly does not show up.
If you have had success with this tethering I'd pleased be know and equally to know who your provider is.
    Cheers
    Chas

Sorry, my initial response was specifically regarding tethering an iPad to an iPhone. I don't believe you can.
As for tethering in general, your carrier has to explicitly support it on the iPhone and you generally have to pay for a tethering plan.
If you're in the UK, Tesco does not support personal hotspots. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937

  • Internet Tethering application missing

I'm delighted with my new iPhone 3GS - a little surprised that it's only 802.11b/g not 802.11n, but I suppose that's to do with battery life.
The main problem, though, is that the Internet Tethering application is missing. Is this to do with my service provider (Vodacom in South Africa)?
Is there somewhere that I can download it? It doesn't seem to be on the iTunes site.

Hallo to everybody. I'm experiencing the same problem. Yesterday morning i received a new iphone 3gs bought from apple store on the web. I connected it to Itunes. It said everything is ok, enjoy. But when i went to settings/network i was supposed to find internet tethering but sadly, very sadly, there was nothing. My carrier does allow internet tethering as i was used to do it with samsung omnia. I bought iphone 3gs expecially for that, and bluetooth which also doesnt' work, but i'm not having nothing.
    Does anybody can help me......
I got it yesterday and i just connected it to itunes. I don't think i made something wrong.

  • "Internet Tethering" won't stop searching when set to "Airplane Mode"

I recently went abroad to Brazil and I set up my iPhone in Airplane mode, I notice that "INTERNET TETHERING" was constantly "SEARCHING" and in turn shortening my iphone's battery life.
I went to the Apple store and show them an I was told " NO it won't use up your battery life..." I know my phone and when I had it on version 3 I didn't have this issue.

    Hey,
    > Do you run into the issue in Photoshop it the case when you use <CMD>+< - > ?
No, works fine. Although its not the best alternative, because my method allows to "specify" the zooming region (due to the mouse position)
    > Did you try to reset the zoom tool (Right-click on the magnifier icon on the option bar?)
I did do a reset, but it didn't influence the "bad" behavior.
    > Do you have a key repeater function activated in the OS (accessibility?)?
None that I know of. Couldn't find any. But if so, shouldn't it affect the zooming in as well (which isn't the case)?
    > If you never use the animated zoom, you can disable it in Photoshop>preferences>general>animated zoom.
I tried both: enabled it causes the mentioned "error" behavior. Disabled the zoom out stops but its remarkably unresponsive: Once I use the key combination and click the left-mouse-btn it takes seconds before the zoom out happes; the process _feels_ quite long.
    Best,

  • TS2756 hotspot is not working on myiPad 3, hotspot tap is cellural data always appear that it is searching, and never stop. Vodafone and tradeline told me that there is no problem with carrier and Sw. Tethering data is never kept.

Hotspot appear always to search and never stop
internet is not working without internet APN data
Tethering APN  never save the data
Vodafone carrier checked and mentioned that the no problem with the SIM
Tradeline checked and the IOS was latest 6.1, but asked to reinstall from scratch
    Please advice

I have this _same_ issue, exactly.  Initial backup goes just fine, but incremental backups fail.  And like you, I replaced the internal drive.
The failures didn't start occuring long after the original drive was replaced--which was about 1 year ago.  The new drive was non-Apple and worked fine--and tests fine now as well when outside the TC.  But suddenly incremental backups started failing when the TC firmware and utility app were updated about 2-3 months ago.  I even swapped the internal non-Apple drive for another known-working non-Apple drive, and same results.
I strongly suspect Apple added something to the firmware to check if it's an Apple or non-Apple drive in the TC and, if the latter, maybe causes incremental backups to fail.  This is only speculation and, obviously, the initial backup still works, so any checksum like this would have to be only during the incremental backup process.
I'll be checking into this thred to see if others have the same issue, or if a solution is found.  Hopefully my hypothesis is just para-apple-noia and it's some small, easy-to-fix issue.

  • 4s Hotspot tethering only works with USB and BT but not with wifi

    Hi,
XP sp3 - iPhone 4s with ios 5.0.1 - on Three one plan
Tethering with wifi works to a friends Samsung phone, wifi on the pc confirmed working with the apple store wifi, tethering with USB and BT works with good connection speeds on my laptop but when i try to tether with wifi it connects to the laptop at 54mbps and all appears well, even claims to have received a small amount of data packets, but no data comes to any browser. The iPhone reports 1 connection to the hotspot and stays connected with a non-pulsing blue bar after the first minute.
In the PC i have tried this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-the-order-of-network-protocol -bindings
I've deleted my firewall (zone alarm) completely and turned off windows firewall to go naked surfing for a second even though they don't cause a problem with USB tethering, makes no difference
I've deleted the network connection numerous times
    "repaired" connection
    dissabled and enabled the wifi
turned off the wireless with a hardware switch and on again
    disabled bluetooth
    rebooted many times
    reinstalled itunes (latest)
loads more things i can't remember
This is causing me a nightmare. I've been through everything i can find online, been to the Apple store genius bar (genius appeared to have sub zero knowledge / interest as it involved a MS machine), been to a Three shop (legally not allowed to touch my PC apparently) and been to a Sony shop (laptop make, not their fault if my iphone doesn't work). All very frustrating.
Please help if you can! Any suggestion will be tried unless it involves sledge hammers or lakes, and only then for a few more days at most.

Turned off bluetooth on phone, turned off hotspot and on again, phone asked if i wanted to turn on bluetooth or go with USB and wifi only, said usb/wifi only. Still nothing. Rebooted PC and iphone. Turned on hotspot, pc seemlessly connects to network, still no data comes.
One odd thing is zone alarm asks me to "select a security zone for the wireless network at ip address: *******.0" every time and doesn't seem to remember the setting over sessions. When i get the status of the connection the ip address is *****.2 and default gateway is same ********.1 Not sure if that's anything.
Also getting a javascript error about an undefinded component (trustcheckermozilla) since i updated zonealarm but as i said even completely uninstalling zonealarm made no difference. I'll update firefox as well but tried with IE and still no data.
