5D MkIII Tethering Problems

Probably has been covered, having issues with tethering using LR4.3 (as well as C1, MacBook Pro. NEW 5D's!  A real frustrating upgrade!
LR & Camera locks up, connection lost, after complete re-start, works for 5-10 frames, lock up!  Tried diff cables, cameras and computers, no go.  Please don't ask if I have updated firmware and OS on Mac, have spent hours trying to find solution.
Have cable rigged to relive stress and movement (All the Right Stuff plate and cable harness), my own rigging (angled cables, stress relief.
The only thing I have not done is send the gear to Canon (CPS member)
Any Comments?

Hello FrankNagy!
You may want to consider trying to tether with Canon's EOS Utility.  We suggest this because Lightroom is not a supported product in our technical support department.  EOS Utility would be able to tether to the camera and provide camera control and also remote shooting.
We wish you the best of luck!

  • Iphone 4 to ipad 2 tethering problem

i got a wifi ipad 2 as i have tethering on my iphone 4 contract.  I have set up the personal hotspot and the ipad finds it and connects via wifi.  But the wifi symbol doesn't appear instead its a a chain link type symbol.  When i try to get online nothing happens.  I have connected an ipod touch to my personal hotspot and it works fine.  Can anybody help?
    Thanks

I do the same thing.  16gb wifi ipad 2 and teather to my ATT iphone 4...  I too get the chain link, and at times it does not work as well.  What I do, is turn my ipad off, and then back on.. And then reestablish my link.  All is well after that.
I have not had a chance to try it since the most recent update to both devices, so unaware if the new updates fixed the problem, but it does seem like a bug to me.
I hope I've been some help

It looks okay in IE7 at 1076 resolution. The issue is caused
    by a bug in IE6
and earlier that causes it to apply padding information
    incorrectly. The
result is that you divs end up too wide for the placement and
    so the div
    wraps down.

  • Camera tethering problem

Lightroom  refuses to recognize my camera when tethered. I'm using a Canon 5DMkII and a Macbook running OSX10.6.8.
This lack of lift off has put me in a state of suspended animation for days. Thankfully I'm doing a still life studio set up so at least there is no talent wilting under the lights or client pacing outside the door! Still it's an extremely frustrating situation. Any clues to a solution would be appreciated.

I have had the same problem with LR 5.7 - actually all LR versions back as far as I remember. Yesterday I tried to shoot some people in my studio - I'm on win 8.1 - with my D800.
The first 100 shots went ok and then suddenly I saw that LR was stuck and did not ad any pictures. I checked and there is the problem again that LR could not find the camera. Changed cable, changed camera, restarted LR, restarted the computer - LR still could no see the camera. Now I know that there is a connection to the computer as I was able to go the memory card on the camera and check out the few pictures I had on it.
I could not find the problem so I just gave up. I know Adobe has had this problem for the past few year - enough is posted on the board all the way back to version 3. We are now in version 5.7 and the problem still exists and Adobe still has no solution.

  • Iphone Tethering Problem

I cant seem to get the iphone tethering option working. All the instructions i have read so far say to go to Settings>General>Network>Internet Tethering. This so called "Internet Tethering" menu does not seem to show up on my iphone 3G. I have downloaded the new 3.0 software. I also have read several people who had this same question, but have not seen a clear answer. Is the problem with AT&T, or with how my settings are set up?

It is currently hidden by the profile installed on US iphones, but it is included in the 3.0 firmware. You cannot unlock it without violating you terms of service agreement with ATT and we cannot give those directions here. Hopefully, ATT will make it available soon so we can legally tether.

  • Android tethering problems

I have a problem with Android USB tethering. It just doesn't work.
I found the wiki page about this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/An … _tethering But it not helped. With normal tethering I can't see the usb0, openvpn simply not working, don't know why, everything seems ok, there is no error messages, but there's just no internet connection, and the proxy is not enough.
Wireless tether is working, but the connection is always dropped by Wicd and by Networkmanager, too. It's almost useless, I have to reconnect in every 5-10 minutes.

Nope, I simply doesn't have usb0 interface. In dmesg output there is my phone, but I can't do anything without usb0.

When I used tethering last weekend I had to manually modprobe rndis_host (after usbnet) for usb0 to appear (using a Nexus One). Relevant lsmod output:

    cdc_ether 3482 1 rndis_host
    usbnet 12942 2 rndis_host,cdc_ether
    Didn't help.
Gusar wrote:There's also Klink. Also requires buying the full version for https, but it's cheaper than EasyTether, is a one-man development effort (so you're "rooting for the underdog") and his main platform is Linux (so you can be sure the Linux client is top-notch), and I've also read it's design - lots of native code, as little Dalvik as possible - makes it the most efficient.
Klink doesn't work, it cannot find the phone. EasyTether is working, but $9,99... f*ck, I think I have to buy it if I can't find a solution.

    Help!!!!!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Do you mean that the USB connection crashes or is it the tethered Internet connection that crashes?
Both MTP drivers and tethering drivers are provided with your OS, so you want to try running a Windows update or check if these drivers can be downloaded separately.

  • Canon 5D MKIII - autofocusing problem

:-)It will only autofocuse in A+ and NOT in any position. I´ve tried with my 24-7mm and my 100-400 mm origianl canon lenses.
What is wrong?? The camera is brand new  Comming from a 40D.. Have I missed something in the menu? and a upgrade to latest firmware didn´t fix  the problem..
    Does anyone has a solution?
    Thank you in advance..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To change you go to C.Fn2 menu (the 2 of 4 menu with the Orange Camera symbol) the go to "Custom Controls".  The first one is the Shutter butt. half-press, choose AF On and Metering.  I'm surprised that "Clearing All C.Fn" didn't work but then I never had to use it yet... .  Please let me know if this solves your problem.

  • Yoga 13 Bluetooth Tethering Problem

I am having a problem with my new Yoga 13 when trying to tether my Samsung Galaxy S3 via Bluetooth.
I go to add a device in Settings.  The devices pair successfully, but the 'Offline' message immediately shows beneath the Phone in devices.
    USB tething works fine.
    Can anyone help please?

    Hi All
Try the following steps which seem to have worked for me (Apologies for the numbering. It went wonky when I tried to past from a word doc):
Disconnect any existing Wi-Fi connections on your Yoga 13.You can do this from your standard Desktop (bottom right) Wi-Fi Signal strength icon:
Swipe from the right to open your Charms menu and select “Search”
    Type in “Devices”
    Select “Settings”
    Select “Devices”
If your iPhone 5 already exists in the “Devices” list, REMOVE IT:
    Highlight the list item
Select the small minus sign and confirm removal of the devic.
    On your iPhone 5:
Make sure you have 3G on and functioning as normal
First make sure Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Personal Hotspot are turned off.
Then select and switch on your Personal Hotspot
You should be prompted to turn on Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth. Just turn them both on.
Keep your Personal Hotspot page open
Back on your Ideapad Yoga 13
Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on:
    Then open Charms menu again
                                                                   i.      Search “Bluetooth”
                                                                 ii.      Select “Settings”
                                                                iii.      Select “Add Bluetooth Device”
Your iPhone 5 should come up in the list of detected devices
                                                                   i.      Select your iPhone 5
Open your standard desktop and select the small bars icon representing your wireless network connections.
Your iPhone 5 should now become available in the Wi-Fi list.
Connect as normal and you should be prompted for the Wi-Fi Password on your Personal Hotspot page on your iPhone 5.
Enter the password and that should get you up and running.
    Best of luck
    Claude

I'm trying to use wifi to share Internet to my MacBook Pro via my Lumia 820.
Though I get disconnected after about a few minutes.
    How can I solve that?

Hi. Is 'Lumia Black' displayed under Extras+Info? What is the current Firmware Revision number of the phone?
Try scanning the QR code for Access Point to check that it's up-to-date: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/td-p/1640082
