5g 60gb Ipod STUCK IN RECOVERY MODE! LOOP!

when i turn my ipod on it gives me the "Ipod needs to be restored. prestore with itunes" or whatever. so i plug my ipod into my computer (windows vista + iTunes 7 (newest)) then i use the restore feature and it works fine..(or at least looks like it) then the ipod shuts off and itunes ejects the ipod then i unplug the ipod and it does the restore thing with the apple and the loading bar.. then when thats done the ipod restarts and it displays the "ipod needs to be restored" thing again.
i cant figure this out..
i have tryed reformatting with HP format tool (didnt work)
i have tryed itunes restore tool (doesnt work loop)
i have tryed running the ipod diagnostic test (nothing wrong ipod passes)
when i plugged it in the first time i cant recall.. but i thinkk it updated..
maybe i have to downgrade it?
possibly?
please help me figure this out
i will love you forever.
if i can award points i will.
tanks in advance

Didnt Work Man..
Update:
i openned my ipod in windows Drive (Z:IPOD)
and there was NO files AT ALL
not even the normal hidden ipod_control
so i got itunes 6 cause someone told me that i need to downgrade my ipod or somehting..
i now have on my ipod a ipod_control folder but thats it..
i recall haveing like 5 folders before..
anyways... my ipod still is stuck in recover mode loop..
i donno what to do

  • Ipod Stuck in recovery mode loop and must be restored every 2 days

    Hi everyone,
I have a Fifth Generation Ipod Video 30 Gig that I purchased from an Apple store sometime in july and it has given me nothing but problems. 3 weeks into using it, the ipod tells me that it is in recovery mode and must be restored. I restore it and it continues to give the same message until I finally disconnect it and wait a good 20 minutes before it finally allows me to activate it. A week later, the Ipod needs to be restored again and the same incident occurs. I have changed the drive letter 13 times (currently on letter Z), used every version of itunes (old and new), changed the type of files I upload, etc. but nothing works. The worst part is that after restoring it, the Ipod works for a few days before it relapses again. Worst of all, I use it for less than an hour a day.
I even went to the Apple store after i restored it and the "genius technician" synced my ipod and said there was nothing wrong with the Ipod. I have seen many people in the forums cite hard drive failure as the cause of this problem but I cannot convince the "genius technicians" at the Apple store that this is the problem.
Please help me resolve this frustrated, unwarranted, and expensive problem!!! Your help is most appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Ice

I have tried connecting the ipod via the front and back USb 2.0 jacks on my desktop. I have only one external drive connected to the computer. Doesn't matter whether I remove it or not, the same problem occurs. I do not have a network. My drive letter for the ipod is letter z so it is not disk recognition which is a problem. 1/3 of my music comes from I-tunes, the rest I rip from my Cd's (like Linkin Park, Slipknot, Dir en grey). I only used about 650 MB worth of the ipods 30 gig drive capacity. Doesn't matter which version of the itunes software I use, it gives me the same problem. The recovery loop occured after just after 2 weeks of purchasing it from the apple storeand I took it back with only 12 songs in it. The restored it and 10 days later, the same problem occured. Recently, the ipod has been entering the recovery mode much more frequently prompting me to believe the hard drive is malfunctioning.
I have scanned my computer and the Ipod with everything from Norton, AVG, McCafee, and trendmicro and found no viruses, bugs, worms, etc.
Any suggestions to help me resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ice

  • 60gb ipod stuck in recovery mode

    help. please
I have a 60gb ipod, it was working ok, but i loaned it to my dad for a week (he took it on holiday, but took care of it)...
the only thing that changed was he reformatted it for mac os, so he could put on his itunes collection from his macbook.
i run windows, so i brought it home with me, plugged it in and tried to restore it to factory settings with itunes (yup, got the latest version), but it got about halfway (wiped the drive) before giving me an error saying:
"There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod 'ipod'. The requested resource was not found"
now ive looked everywhere to find the problem, i really have. ive sorted all the network settings (although i am on a funny uni network, which could be an issue) - it accesses the itunes store etc fine. ive deleted the old ipod software from that hidden folder. ive scanned my system drive for errors. i dunno what else to do. please, someone help! it was so much easier when you just had to use the apple restore utility!
pc   Windows XP Pro   60gb ipod video 5g... old fashioned 2.0GHz Pentium 4 PC... Yes ive got my service packs.

Well, i fixed it myself. I took a deep breath and formatted my iPod, then crossed my fingers and hoped iTunes would recognise it... Thankfully it did, and set about restoring the iPod to factory settings. Phew. Very scary...

Connect it to iTunes.  If iTunes doesn't see the iPod, try manually connecting the device to iTunes in recovery mode using the instructions in this Apple support document.

  • Iphone 3G stuck in recovery mode loop

okay...i'm sure there a lot of topics on this, but i can't find anything is fixing the issue. i traded my 32gb ipod for a 16gb iphone 3G. i traded it mainly because i wanted to unlock it to t-mobile. i wanted to updated it to ios4 so i wouldn't have to keep unlocking it after each iphone/ipod update. so i updated it, and it went into recovery mode. i tried putting it into dfu mode, and it's stuck in recovery mode. i've tried restoring it and it just loops back into recovery mode. i've tried the whole "hold down the both buttons and release the sleep button but hold the home button until this happens" thing. i'm starting to get really frustrated. i tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling itunes and the same thing happens. NOW.... i'm getting an error that says that itunes cannot recognize this iphone because of an unknown error. do i need to downgrade os? how do i do that? i just need to be able to get it out of recovery mode so i can unlock it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

I had the same issue. After updating to the new OS4, my iphone failed on a restore. It was stuck in recovery mode. You have to hold down the home key for 7-10 secs, connect to PC(if that's what you are using) and plug into iTunes. Keep holding the button down until iTunes recognizes the phone. You will be given an option to restore to old or update and restore as a new phone. I did the update and restore as my old backup file was corrupted somehow. Unfortunately, I lost everything since my last sync. Still trying to figure out how to extract contact and pic data from an old backup i had saved on a thumbdrive. Good luck!

  • Ipod stuck in recovery mode and won't restore. says it can't connect to the network.

My son tried to jailbreak his ipod touch like an idiot and of course it did not work. Now his ipod is stuck in recovery mode and I can't get it to restore. I get a message that says:the ipod software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later. I have internet access and everything is working but itunes can't connect to it. Why? I have been having issues with itunes for a couple weeks now. I can't connect to the store and redeem itunes cards either.

Make sure the setting for your security software allow iTunes to contact Apple servers:
iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues
As for the iPod, since he tried to modify the software, the only thing that could help would be DFU mode , we can't help much more, problems with jailbroken devices can't be discussed in theses forums, due to the Terms of Use.
Your son has to ask those people for help, which encouraged him to jailbreak his device.

  • Mac formatted ipod stuck in recovery mode when rescuing tunes onto a PC

    Hi
I have an ipod Nano (6gb) that is Mac formatted. I tried to recover the tunes from it to a PC desktop with Xplay. It started ok and then the ipod entered into recovery mode so it could be reformatted for Windows (I think itunes started doing it).
At that moment I couldn’t recover my tunes. Now whenever I use Xplay again it says "not accessible. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.” So it’s stuck in recovery mode.
I know the tunes are still on the ipod because the amount of disk space taken up hasn’t changed, despite the ipod not actually showing the songs on the UI.
How can I fix this so I can grab all the tunes off the ipod before I restore the ipod in itunes and thus effectively formatting it?
    Cheers,
    L

  • Iphone 4 stuck in recovery mode loop (non-jailbroken)

This is frustrating me to no end!! I tried to update my iphone 4 to IOS6 via itunes, didn't work because my mac needed at least itunes 6.3.1 but it said everything was up to date. So i tried using a newer mac with an updated itunes, failed after about an hour, & got stuck in the recovery mode loop. Everytime i try to connect to itunes & restore my phone to update, a message pops up saying "could not be restored. this device isn't eligible for the requested build". I've been watching youtube videos for about this for an hour now, nothing. I'm about to go insane, so if anyone has any idea of how i can get out of the loop, that'd be great!!

Apple doesn't fix phones they replace them.
The iPhone warranty is NOT international.  You need to return the phone to the country in which it originated (the EU is considered ONE country for warranty purposes)

  • Ipod Stuck in Recovery mode help!!!

my ipod was fine, working brilliantly, tll a few days ago, it had a white screen, that said "connect to computer and restore in itunes" in many different languages. so i did, but itunes didn't pick up my ipod. so forced it into disk mode, and itunes recgognised it, and the message "Itunes as detected an ipod in recovery mode, you must restore this Ipod before it can be used with itunes" came up. so having restored it, i reconnected it, and the whole thing repeated itself, now my ipod maybe stuck in recovery mode, as every time i restore and connect, the same message comes up... HELP!!!
    thanks

Sorry, must pay more attention to the profiles:>) Unfortunately that link is the only one I know of that refers to the recovery mode problem. I'll have another dig around and if I find anything else I'll let you know. The only other thing I can think of is to run Disk Utility repair on your iPod and see if that helps. It's a shot in the dark I'm afraid.
Set up iTunes "not" to open when you connect the iPod.
Enable Disk Use on the iPod
Eject the iPod and shut down iTunes
Reconnect the iPod and open Disk Utility
Click on your iPod in the Utility pane and choose Repair Disk.
Close Disk Utility and open iTunes.

My ipod is stuck on recovery mode, whenever I go on itunes to restore it, my ipod's screen goes blank and is unable to restore it. A message also pops up on itunes stating that itunes is unable to restore the ipod error (40). I have tried the application Reboot yet it is still stuck on recovery mode.

  • IPod stuck in recovery mode with home button not working

Hi, I was restoring my iPod and everything went fine until it was restarting with the apple logo and loading symbol. My iPod's home button hasn't been working in a while so I use assistive touch. Now the iPod is stuck in recovery mode and I can't press the home button, I don't know what to do. Pls help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Whenit says place the iPod in recoivery mode:
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod stuck on recovery mode cannot restore error 3004

    Hello,
My iPod Touch 5th gen is stuck on recovery mode for two days now. I have lost all of my important files, but I am hoping to make it work again.
I was updating to ios 8 the other day and suddenly my iPod turned off and was stuck on recovery mode. No big deal, but then, as I was to restore it, iTunes only says that "The iPod 'iPod' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3004)."
I'm here now because I have tried all of the fixes. I have tried to put it on DFU mode (didn't work), changed my DNS settings, updated my iTunes, uninstalling, reinstalling it, turned my PC on and off, used another PC, but nothing has worked. I used some external programs that can get my iDevice to get in and out of DFU mode, but it has not worked.
I am on PC, Windows 8.
    Hope anyone can help.

    DId you try:
