5G and album artwork on AV reciever

Guys I have 5G 80Gb iPod and a Yamaha 3900 AV receiver with iPod dock.
When controlling the iPod in the Yamaha dock, its should display the album artwork on the connected plasma display - but it doesn't - it just says "loading" then nothing (plays music fine though)
My partners Gen2 iPod nano works fine. I've checked both using same tracks, new tracks etc - hers displays artwork mine doesn't. By elimination I believe the issue must lie with the iPod as we share the same iTunes library (and therefore MBP) and as hers works it wouldn't seem to be the Yamaha.
All updates are up to date with respect to all devices, software etc.
Both iPods are Mac formatted and seemingly same options selected. I've tried a full restore on mine with no success.
Any other tips?
Thanks

  • ITunes Store does not show author and "album artwork" of my podcast

Although all information is available - the itunes store does not mention the author and "album artwork" of my podcast - if podcast is downloaded, album artwork is shown...
How can I add the informatin (especially that author is not "unknown" anymore)
    http://itunes.apple.com/de/podcast/nie-mehr-schuchtern-der-podcast/id404201576?i =88951302

For reference, you feed is at http://kontaktvoll.de/tinc?key=r5FOIixD
This is not a valid podcast feed for iTunes. It's missing the 'itunes declaration' in the second line. The top two lines of your feed should read as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
Without that, iTunes cannot read the 'itunes' tags which are necessary to carry some of the information, and which in any case are missing from your feed. The author name is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag and the image in the 'itunes:image' tag.
This page contains a basic sample feed so you can see what it should look like and how these tags are formed:
    http://www.wilmut.org.uk/pc
If you are hand-writing this feed it's a good idea to put returns in after each closing tag, as in the sample. At the moment most of your feed is on one line and this makes it very difficult to read when looking for problems, particularly as you add more episodes.

    Hi TheGuru146,
It sounds like the iPod isn't restoring correctly. Try putting the it into Disk Mode manually and then restoring the iPod again as described in the article linked below.
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
    iPod nano (7th generation)
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it has a charge.
Reset the device by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until the display shows the Apple logo. This should take about eight seconds.
When the Apple logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk Mode.

  • ITunes is randomly deleting ID3 tags track number data and album artwork

A few weeks ago iTunes 10.5.3.3 starting deleting the amount of tracks available for an album and its artwork when I would play a song. Thus "4 of 12" would go to just "4". And in some cases the artwork I've had for years and years (since iTunes 6) is disappearing for an entire album when only one song is played as well. There is no pattern or any discernable reasoning of what tracks its choosing to do this with. It's really disheartening when you factor in all the time and effort involved  for nearly 10 years with making all of that data correct and adding customized artwork for 10,000+ songs for it to now just start disappearing randomly.
I suspect my iTunes database file is corrupt, however, how do you fix that without losing all of your Playlists, Artwork, etc.?
I've loved and had zero problems with this software until a few weeks ago. I'm a happy owner of multiple iPods for all this time and now this is disconcerting.

The missing total track count numbers strongly points to Windows Media Player. It has a nasty habit of "refreshing" the metadata when you didn't ask it to. This can happen even if you don't use the program as a rule as it may be launched in the background when viewing certain media content on the web. Next time iTunes has a reason to inspect the tag, e.g. during playback, it will reveal the new data from the tag. In essense the damages is already done but iTunes has yet to notice all of it.
For tips on getting WMP and iTunes to play nicely in future see this thread.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to compare your library with the contents of your media folders.
See this User Tip for a suggested backup strategy.

  • Showing Artist info and Album artwork on TV through AV cable

I just hooked up the iPod through an A/V cable to my TV and the videos / movies look great... I am trying to get some information on how I can get the artist info / album artwork to show through the same system. I am tired of looking at the iPod to tell artist / album when connected through the A/V cable.... Anyone know how this is done?

  • ITunes and Album Artwork question on Mac with two users

Hey everyone, I have what I hope is a pretty simple question. Right now, on my iMac, I have 2 user accounts, one for me and one for my wife. I wanted us to be able to share all of our music, so when I was setting up the computer, I put the iTunes Music Library in a /User/Shared/Music directory. Then, inside iTunes, for both users, I pointed to this new library. Everything here works great. When I add a song under 1 user, I just have to go to Add to Library under the other user and the songs are added. Works fine.
My main question is about the album artwork. I recently spent a lot of time under my user account going through and making sure I have all of the album artwork for every song we have in our library. I never thought about checking this on my wife's account, but when I did I realized that all of the stuff I added is not there. Anyway, I did some checking and found out that the album artwork is stored in each users Music directory. I did some reading on the web, and what I did was move my album artwork folder to the /Users/Shared/ directory, then created a symbolic link in my user directory to the shared folder. I did the same in my wife's account. I thought this would do the trick but it hasn't changed anything. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks so much for your time.

The artwork is stored in Music/iTunes/Artwork.
iTunes handles everything in that folder when iTunes adds it to the database.
This info is maintained in the iTunes library file in the iTunes folder.
iTunes will not do anything by copying or pointing to the artwork folder in your folder.
Unless you are both using the same iTunes library file, you will need to get your own artwork.
I put the iTunes Music Library
Do you mean the iTunes music folder?
Here's a way to do what you want.
Move your *iTunes folder* to the shared directory.
Open iTunes holding Option and select *Choose existing library*.
Select the iTunes library file in the Shared directory.
    Everything should work fine.
    Quit iTunes.
Move the *iTunes music folder* from /User/Shared/Music directory into the *iTunes folder* you moved into the Shared directory.
    Start iTunes. Everything should work.
    Quit iTunes.
    Log into your wife's account.
Start iTunes holding the Option key, select *Choose existing library* and select the *iTunes library file* in the iTunes folder you moved into the Shared directory.
Everything should be there including all artwork.
Each user needs to quit iTunes before the other user can open it.
Shouldn't be a problem since you are using the same computer.

  • ITunes 7 Errors/Glitches and Album Artwork Not Displaying on iPod

Looks like a lot of people are having problems with the new iTunes 7. After downloading iTunes7 and the new ipod updater, and having iTunes go and get the album artwork I was missing, some of the album artwork that displayed in iTunes would not display on my iPod (Gen 5). Very weird. I then tried to follow the suggestions on this board to deselect the "display album art on ipod" (in the Music tab of iPod preferences) so that I could then reselect and resynch (which supposed to fix the problem). It was very difficult to achieve this, as iTunes repeatedly had problems recognizing my ipod (even though it was sitting there in the source list). Managed to somehow get it to work, only to discover that while some missing album artwork had been added to ipod and properly displayed, others that had been there before were now gone (but were fine in iTunes)!!! And trying to repeat the deselect/reselect steps only resulted in more error messages ("The Settings were not saved for the iPod ___ because it could not be found." and "iPod update failed. disconnect and reconnect, then try again.")
I happen to have Apple Care for my iPod. Was on phone for ONE HOUR with rep who, while friendly, had no idea what was going on.
Okay Apple, I hope you're reading this, PLEASE FIX THE BUGS. I thought I escaped the problems of buggy software releases when I switched from Microsoft to Apple.

MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM

    UPDATE on previous posting:
Okay, with help of previously mentioned Apple rep, I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7 AND restored my iPod G5. After resynching my 5000+ songs, ALL the album artwork not displaying per previous posting is now displaying. HOWEVER (and Apple employees please take note here), when I tried to change the iPod settings AT ALL (e.g., deselect Synch Movies, TV Shows, Games, etc.) and then select APPLY, same problem!! So it appears this is where the problem lies. Somehow making any changes to these options and then hitting Apply causes the error ("...iPod could not be found" etc.) My workaround (since I am not intending to use iPod for movies or TV shows or games) is to change the Main Menu listings in Settings so I don't have to see them.
APPLE: PLEASE STUDY AND FIX! Thank you....

  • I NEED HELP! IPOD AND ALBUM ARTWORK ISSUES

I can use the music store and surf the internet fine. BUT, I try to use the ministore and with the new itunes, update mmy ipod and download album artowrk, it says itunes cannot connect, please make sure my connection is active. I tried the network diagnostics and it said network failed, but in the report, it says it connected to the music store. I dont understand, this shouldnt be because I can use the music store no problem. What is odd is on my other accounts on the computer, this issue doesnt exist. I dont recall changing any settings. Can someone help please?

You can get album artwork from various other sources as well as Amazon. You can even locate artwork using Google image search by using the artist or album name. I find this site is a good source of artwork: CD/Album Cover Art Search from SlothRadio.
Locate the album from any of those sources, right click on the image and save it to the desktop, once it's there drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Once you've added the artwork you can either delete the original file or keep it in a folder somewhere in case you need to use it again. Alternatively there are programs like these that help locate artwork: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag

  • A 'mixtape' cd and album artwork

    hello-
i'd like to make 'album artwork' for a music cd mix. I'll design the 'album' cover. What are the steps to take to have it in itunes and on someone's ipod. Is this possible?
    thanks

Once you've created the art work open iTunes, select all the tracks from your mix, hit Apple/I and in the window that opens drag and drop your art work into the Artwork window. Then synch the iPod.

  • Imported music and album artwork

i've just imported all of my music into my itune but i haven't got any of my artwrok and when i click download album artwork it says that it can't be found. what sould i do??

ID3 tags are not part of the podcasting structure, they are associated with the audio files that make up your podcast. If your audio file is an MP3 formatted file, you can use a tag editor like iTunes to add various "meta-data" descrptions to the file. The tags are part of the file, and players like iTunes or Windows Media Player read and display the tags. iTunes uses the tags to organize your music display.
So, when you create your podcast's audio file, you can probably add ID3 tags using the tool used to make the file. It probably added some by default.

  • Nano and album artwork

Now that iTunes allows you to "get album artwork" for cd's that you have imported, I have done this...but how do I get the album artwork to show on my iPod when I play the songs?
      Windows XP

When you sync the iPod next, the album artwork will update automatically. When the song with the album artwork is playing, press the centre button twice to view the artwork.

  • Why are my emojis and iTunes album artwork green

All the emojis and album artwork on my mac are green, I don't know how to change it back i don't even know what i did. It's really irritating me.

I tried posting my own version of this question but was restricted from doing so, thus I am bumping this similar problem.
Many of my album covers in iTunes (songs purchased both through iTunes on Windows 8.1 and through my iPhone) are tinted green but only when viewing in the "Albums" view: if I pull up individual song info, the artwork is no longer tinted. I suspect that they may have just been processed or displayed with an incorrect colour profile. Album artwork appears fine on my iPhone which is synced to this same computer. Is there some solution to this or perhaps a way to delete and redownload all album artwork? I removed all of my colour profiles on this computer, one of which I know had errors since Adobe Photoshop would always ask me whether to ignore the colour profile, and that did not solve the problem.

  • Correctly tagged album names, but no album artwork found?

And I'm 100% sure that these albums are correctly tagged because the artwork for these albums were found before on my old PC. I bought a new PC, installed iTunes and transferred all my music to my new PC. Files that had previously recieved album artwork will not recieve any anymore. And it's very random. For example, Evil Empire, the Rage Against The Machine album will NOT get album artwork. This is happening for around 100 random albums that have gotten album artwork before on my old PC. What can possibly be wrong?

Are you writing about the iTMS? All sorts of people are having problems, probably busy servers due to all the video downloads.

  • Album artwork not showing up (yes there is some in itunes)

Ok i'm having trouble with my iPod and album artwork. I googled the problem and some guy was having the same thing happen to him. The idiots replying though didnt understand and started telling him how to put artwork on it. I know how to do that, its always worked fine. Except now some songs have black artwork? its got artwork on it in iTunes and iTunes works fine with it. But when I sync my iPod doesnt show it, it's just black. Not even the grayish "note" artwork.

    Hello there,
Try rebuilding the iPod's artwork cache.
To do this, hook your iPod up to your computer, and when it appears in iTunes, head over to the Music tab and remove the check mark next to "display album artwork on this iPod." Then go ahead and Apply the changes to your iPod to remove any existing artwork from it.
When it has finished, go ahead check the option to display album artwork on this iPod and again Apply the changes and see if that helps.
    Worth a shot.
