5G nano free space on iPod and free space in iTunes do not match, help...
Greetings. My 5G nano shows 118MB free in the preview panel when I highlight 'settings' - however when connected in iTunes, when I select the name of my iPod nano, it shows 68.4MB free. Why is this? Thank you.
Well, I reset the nano by holding the menu and center buttons, twice. I dont know what that was supposed to do but nothing changed, not the menu or the amounts of free space. Im going to try a restore now...which I dread because filling an iPod from a library larger than the capacity of the iPod is a pain.

Long audio files (mp3 books) on ipod nano 5 play fine, Ipod remembers playback position (I set the flag in info-options) but after listeniong for a while on ipod, I expect that a sync to PC should update the playback position in iTunes. Thus I should be able to subsequently sync a second device to iTunes and have the position passed along to the second device. This is not working for me. I have now tried turning off Manually manage music and video on the iPod. One of the 3 long audio files (books as mp3) reloaded to the iPod when I made the chnge, but no loss in my case.. Playback position on iPod seemed to load into iTunes (looked good while iPod was connected in Playlists and Library/Music, but as soon as I disconnected the iPod the saved positions reverted to the old values. One more theory shot down. Since my goal is to keep several playback devices in step, I am back to jotting down the latest position and manually forward spacing the alternate device to pick up where I left off.
This seems so logical a use that I am baffled about why it is so hard (impossible?).

I have IPOD classic, and want to transfer all my cd's on to my ipod. I have itunes but my laptop will not support all my music which i want to put on my ipod.
If i transfer music to itunes then sync to ipod - fine - but when i want to delete a cd to enable me to put another one on my laptop (due to memeory)

please.You could use Manually Manage your iPod, but the problem with that is that if your iPod ever needs to be Restored, the procedure will delete everything on the iPod and put back on what it can find in your iTunes Library. So you would lose anything not on the laptop. Also, when you buy yourself a replacement iPod, once again, you will lose whatever is not in the your iTunes Library.
Manually Manage means just that. You manually move media onto the iPod. So if you subsequently change anything about a piece of music, such as modifying an incorrectly spelt song title, you would have to remove that song from the iPod, make the change and then put that same (now modified) song back onto your iPod.
Song Play Counts cannot be used when Manually Managing an iPod, because it's the Sync process that updates that information.
An alternative to this, is buy yourself an external hard drive to plug into the laptop. If you buy one large enough to hold all your existing music and possible future purchases, you could then move your iTunes Library and all the Playlists and song counts (using the correct procedure, which exeprienced users on this forum can help you with) to that external drive and continue to use Sync. Then, all the content of your iPod would effectively be backed up.
Using an external drive does mean that you need to have the drive connected and ready to read before starting iTunes - every time. If not, iTunes will fail to find you music and instead look on the internal drive. -

They've never sussed this out - been a problem the last year or two for me regardless of all the new iOS versions and iTunes versions. Regardless of multiple resets and full restores. Mine showed 3.7 avail on computer, less than .5 on phone. I did a reset and full restore. It helped - but still differs dramatically - now showing 5.8 avail on computer but only 2.9 on phone.
APPLE!!! I have spent 10s of thousands on your products both at my business and home - why? "Because it just works" I've been telling people. Not sure if I can keep on saying that if you don't get this figured out!! -
I have an ipod nano and would like to sync it to a new computer but when I try to do it, it tells me that i will loose all my music and pictutes in my nano to be replaced with what I have on itunes. can anybody help?

Basically you will have to transfer its contents to the new computer and then restore the iPod and then resync. An iPod can only sync to one iTunes library.

I tried to buy an app init the app store with my registered debit card. Due to insufficient funds payment was rejected. However whenever i try to download a free app now iTunes will not allow until this payments completed!!!! this is so frustrating. Help

New computer--do i erase ipod and sync with new itunes library?
I downloaded itunes on my ancient pc and that's where I synced my ipod. i finally put that pc out to pasture and now have a new laptop. i downloaded itunes to the new computer, and when i hooked up my ipod i got the message "the ipod is synced with another itunes library. Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this itunes library?" So do I want to erase and sync or not? I'm scared I'm going to mess everything up if I erase it.
One more question: my daughter got a new ipod; once i figure out this syncing issue with my existing ipod, do I need to set up a new account for the new ipod, or can i sync it with the account i already have?

I recently had to restore my computer (as if it was new due to, to many viruses) Afterwards itunes was still there but the music i have on my ipod was not previously purchased through itunes but they were on my computer and placed in itunes library and sent to my ipod. Well after restoring my pc, itunes opened up when i connected my ipod and it asked me to update. So i updated to itunes 10. Now it is telling me that this ipod is registered to my fiance' and it is running off a different itunes library, and that I would either need to erase and sync to the new library in itunes 10, or transfer to itunes 10 library. I tried transfer and restarted itunes, but it just asked me the same questions again. It wouldnt let me create new place lists either. im scared to erase bc i have so many songs i wont remember what there all were to go back and download if it actually erases all my current songs or applications. I assumed when itunes updated to itunes 10, it would update with all my information. And although the ipod is registered in his name or however he did that, I also have sum form of account with apple/itunes because it uses my email address and my credit card during purchases for this ipod (his name is just there). i dont understand what I am suppose to do to fix this problem. These songs are still on my computer and the program where i downloaded them from but since i had to restore the whole computer, its like they are probably hidden files and arent being detected i guess. I really dont know. I have been reading and I see many ppl with the same issue. Any suggestions that wont cost me anything or a little of nuthing to resolve? I heard of Tansee Ipod Transfer but it charges you to move your files from your ipod, into a folder, to your computer, and then to be added to your itunes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The ipod 'harms ipod' is synced with another itunes library.Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this itunes library? An ipod can be synced with only one itunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replace the contents of this ipod with the contents of this itunes library.
I don't know what to do? I should save my library before I replace the contents, but I don't know how to do that! - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or conbtinue to show off-line.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

- If not shown/or off-line, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

Connect iPad to MAC computer and get this message: iTunes could not connect to the iPad because the device timed out. What is the likely problem???
Eject the iPad, quit iTunes, restart the Mac and reset the iPad and try again. Use another USB port on the Mac if you have a free one to use.

IPod doesn't sync with iTunes anymore!! HELP!!
I am in complete despair - my iPod doesn't sync with iTunes anymore. It all started a couple of days ago, after installing the latest updates of both, iTunes and iPod. After that, I noticed that the iPod wasn't synching the changes and new additions I had made in iTunes.
I tried everything so far with no success. I did reset the iPOd, reinstalled the iPod updater, than did a RESTORE and now my iPod is completely empty, but refuses to download my music from iTunes.
When connected, it shows up, start "updating iPod" and several seconds later shows "update complete". In the iPod window I can all the songs (in grey) from my library, but they are not being transferred to my iPod!!!
Please, help!!I think I know the problem and it's solution. The iPod "thinks" it's linked to a different library and therefore does not synchronize. No idea what happens in the background there, but here is what I did:
First, I went back to the previous update on the iPod (not sure if that's necessary at all, but I just wanted to go to where I started from.
The UNinstalled iTunes (to be safe I backed up my tunes) and reinstalled it. Then pasted backed up tunes into new iTunes music folder and overwrote newly created iTunes library files.
Then I connected the iPod, which now told me that I had an old version and needed to update, which I did.
Then a window popped up and told me that my iPod was connected to a different library and if I want to connect to this one, overwriting everything on the iPod, which I said yes to (it didn't matter anyway, since it was now empty after the RESTORE I had done).
iPod then downloaded all the songs from my library again and we are as happy together as we've been before
I think what happened was that after installing the latest update, that window with the "different library connection" had popped up as well and I must have clicked NO because of the "overwrite" comment which scared me. Unfortunately, even with "reset warnings" it then never popped up again and until I reinstalled iTunes.
