5GB in virtual ram with DVD Knoppix LiveDVD

A remastered DVD Knoppix V3.4 with kernel 2.6.3 has been modified to enable booting TORAM . The DVD has 4.9Gb of program material.
The technique to modify the DVD to enable TORAM (doesn't load to ram natively, only loads from DVD disc) involves using the script from the KnoppixLiveCD which does load to ram if 1GB of ram is available. ( Swap is also a possible with the CD version)
I modified the minirt26 scriptof the CD to allow 3GB of TORAM capability and replaced the DVD script of minirt26 with the modified CD script.
The DVD is enhanced by a 2GB swap file provided by a USB hdd having a swap partition of 2GB. This swap was setup by QTParted on a 30GB hdd in USB sda1. Usb 2.0 was enabled in isolinux.cfg for the dvd burn by adding the option...ehci-hcd.o to the USB option list.
The dvd remastered with the CD minirt26 boots to desktop in under ten minutes and the system resource monitor utility reports 5GB of memory + swap.
A 1GB video file loaded to desktop in 50secs. and played without indication of hdd activity.
The remastered..remaster was burned with a Sony DRU530 at 4x+RW.
My system is athlon1900+ with an asus a7v333 with bios 1006.

The Knoppix3.4remastered LiveDVD has been modified in linuxrc to enable ..toram.. option to boot.
Original script had only allowed 800MB of memory size, which when increased to 3000MB enabled the Live DVD to boot.
Subsequent entry into hda3 with tohd option enabled the eventual boot of ....fromhd toram...This produced a load time of one and a half minutes to kde desktop.
The system resource utility confirmed the loading of 2.1Gb into a 3GB memory limit.
My system is athlon 1900+ with 3GB of 2100SDRAM.

How to load data from a virtual cube with services

Hello all,
we have set up a virtual cube with service and create a BEx report to get the data from an external database. That works fine. The question is now:
Is it some how possible to "load" the data from this virtual cube with service (I know that there are not really data...) into an other InfoCube?
If that is possible, can you please give my some guidance how to set up this scenario.

Hi:
I don't have system before me, so try this.
I know it works for Remote Cube.
Right Click on the Cube and Select Generate Export Data Source.
If you can do this successfully, then go to Source Systems tab and select the BW. Here, Right CLick on select Replicate DataSources.
Next, go to InfoSOurces, click on Refresh. Copy the name of Virtual Cube and add 8 as a prefix and search for the infosource.
If you can see it, that means, you can load data from this cube to anywhere you want, just like you do to ODS.
ELSE.
Try and see if you can create an InfoSpoke in Virtual Cube. Tran - RSBO.
Here, you can load to a database table and then, from this table, you can create datasource, etc.
ELSE.
Create query and save it as CSV file and load it anywhere you want. This is more difficult.

Superdrive no longer recognizes CD, but works fine with DVD

my Superdrive seems to have a problem recognizing any type of CD media, but works fine with DVD media.
I reinstalled Leopard and still the same problem. I also zapped the NVRAM (this is an Intel 2.0 Ghz Mac Mini w/ 2 GB Ram.
Is there anything else I can do or do I just need to replace the drive?

Typically when this sort of symptom appears, it relates to a hardware failure, either due to a faulty lens, or dirt. You might try a lens cleaner to ensure it is not the latter.
Since this is a 2.0GHz mini, it ought to be still under warranty - if that is the case it would be wise to have Apple, or an approved service provider, check it and undertake any necessary repairs.

No you cannot do that. You need a physical machine that supports Hyper-V

Hey all. Can anybody tell me how to emulate a cd or dvd on my Envy133 ? My OS is the default Envy133 Windows Vista Business x32. I want to run an interactive language program and don't want to have to always use the eSATA dvd. Thanks.

Daemon Tools is filled with spyware. Use Slysoft Virtual CloneDrive. It has the smallest footprint and works like a charm.

DVD-RAM vs DVD-RW

I recently installed Final Cut Express 4 on my Macbook and I am using a Panasonic AVCHD camera to transfer footage. When I used a DVD-RAM disc the data appeared in the Log and Transfer window with no problems, however I have footage on a DVD-RW disc which I want to transfer. (Despite being RW it won't let me delete footage through my camera) My DVD-RW disc has been finalized and when I plug in my camera it shows the loading color wheel, but no film clips appear in the log and transfer. I look in the actual disc window and all the files for my clips are there, but it doesnt recognize them in log and transfer. Is there some reason that Final Cut Express 4 will only notice DVD-RAM discs?

I have the disc in the video camera (I dont think a Macbook CD drive can use those mini-dvd discs) and the DVD is finalized. (which i believe allows it to be played back on other devices) Panasonic just says the camera can record on DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, and DVD-R discs. It didnt have much to say in terms of other media it can be used with. And Final Cut just says it supports AVCHD but I havent found anything about differences in the type of disc you can use.

Problem with DVD Player

I inherited this computer and have spent the last couple of months upgrading it. Put a gig of ram in and added a PCI card to help with a multi screen setup but now I have hit my first major head ache. I bought a Pioneer DVR - 104 off of ebay and installed it no problem. The only issue is once I went to test out my dvd feature I found I had no DVD player. I tried updating the system but it would not install it. So I finally was able to get 3.1 off of this site and it won't start up. It just blinks on the dock once and dissapears. I checked the specs and this machine came with the superdrive but my father opted out of it, why I don't know, so there should be no issues with the hardware, can anyone help me on this?

I'm sorry the extras is in OS 10.4- my mistake. In OS 10.3, I believe the DVD player is in the main package. I couldn't find it to install seperately. So.......
Let me recap-
1- The DVR reads install discs
2- DVD's won't play because DVD player does not run
3- DVD-R discs show no response
So-
1- The DVR is reading
2- The version of DVD player may not be compatible
3- There is no burn support
To check burn support, in System Profiler, check if under Burn Support "Yes" is showing.
My current thinking is, that since there was no DVR in the origional configuration, you may need to reinstall (Archive and install) the OS 10.3 to get the proper DVD player installed. this should also configure burn support.
The other way to get burn support is to use the patchburn that I gave you the link to.
BUT, I think you should do things one at a time. My advice is to first get the DVR to read, play and burn in that order. There is obviously a problem with DVD player, so, unless some else can advise differently, I would try the Archive and Install of the OS 10.3.
It may also be good to run the OS 10.3.9 Combined Update:

trying the combined update now wouldn't hurt. If it does not remedy the situation, try the Archive and Install, then update.

Report issue on Virtual cube with services

Hi,
I'm following a how-to document to report on a virtual cube using a custom function module and everything seems to be OK except it is dumping at the following line which is included in the How To document "How Tou2026Implement a virtual InfoProvider with Services".
Both <l_s_data> and E_T_DATA are of same data types as discussed in the how-to document.
append <l_s_data> to E_T_DATA
These are the declarations which are same as HowTo document

Yes, I've a g4/466 with two disks. In the first there's system 9.2.2 and the DVD player goes perfect. In the second I've system 10.2 and the 9.2, and the DVD Player (3.0.1) on the system 10 begins to jump in the dock, but stop and nothing happens, I can't open it...
There's any way to reinstal it form system disks???
Or any download to check the error?

1. Try using Pacifist to extract it from your Mac OS X 10.2 installation disks, and then run the combo updater for your version of Mac OS X and any applicable DVD Player updates.
2. Open the Console application in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and look for lines relating to the DVD Player.

PDF issue with DVD Stu Pro

Hello,
I wish to add a PDF that opens automatic with DVD@ccess.
I've made a menu with only text and a back button, in the options pane I've added a url in the @ccess pane:
file:///CINDERELLA/techsheet/cinderella.pdf
My disk name: CINDERELLA
The DVD folder is CINDERELLA and contains the _TS folders + "techsheet" folder
the pdf file: cinderella.pdf
It doesn't work in the simulate or in DVD Player after a build....

Mixing Ram with different CAS latencies in K7n2 Delta-L?

I have been using 512mb Kingston Value Ram in my computer, pc3200, with CAS latency of 3.0. I just purchased some Corsair value select 512mb ram pc3200 with CAS latency of 2.5. I know you are not supposed to mix ram with different speeds (like 400 vs. 333) but does it matter if the CAS latencies are different?
I'm running an AMD XP 1800+, K7n2 delta-L, nforce2 motherboard from MSI. Someone at a computer shop told me they tried mixing Kingston 3.0 CAS with Corsair 2.5 CAS, and said his computer wouldn't even post. So I'm wondering if this is an isolated problem, or you will always run into this problem if you mix ram with different CAS latencies.
If anyone has experience with this issue, please share with the board. Thanks!

The age old question, will the components I bought be compatible ? There are those that have bought identical matching memory that didn't work. In my case, I had an ECS K7S5A that used PC2100 Crucial memory, the sticks neither matched (at one time they did, but one stick died and they sent me the closest thing they had.). Neither of these Crucial sticks was identified by a configurator as being compatible with the K7N2 Delta L that I decided to buy. In the end, not only did both sticks work, but I put them in as single channel mode (ram slots 1 & 2), but later changed the configuration to dual channel mode (ram slots 1 & 3, even 2 & 3). It worked flawlessly in all three configurations. Sorry for the long answer, but in essence, there are no guarantees and your worries will drive you crazy. When memory is mixed, you reduce the likelihood of compatibility, even when you go beyond the recommended products that were specifically identified.
That guy at the computer shop, did he ever indicate or isolate the true reason why the memory wouldn't work ? Maybe, maybe not. I would think with a disparity in memory, the bios is the key to setting the settings for the worst stick of the bunch. Then again, the products you get might overclock to what the better sticks run at. My assumption is that mixed sticks, the bios retards settings to this in "auto" mode. When you force it manually, it may work or it may fail. One thing you oughta know, each and every stick has the manufacturers id encoded onto them at the very least, just like the firmware on other items indicates a manufacturer code and other data that allows these things to be compatible. So know you face that battle going in with any of them. If the bios programming doesn't allow it to work, from that perspective, there'll be problems.

We have two InfoCubes FIGL_C01, FIGL_C01, based on which we have two Virtual InfoCubes with services. FIGL_VC1, FIGL_VC2.
What is the necessity for maintaining these InfoProviders as we are already having the base InfoCubes on which we can derive the queries.
What is the basic use of Virutal InfoCube with Services.

Note 673564 describes exactly why the virtual Infocubes 0FIGL_VC1 and 0FIGL_VC2 were developed. (because BW cannot handle the FI fin. statement hierarchies)
