5GBS of free space. Itunes says not enough to sync.

My IPhone says I have 5GBs of free space. When I try and sync my music a message pops up saying I need 2.24 more GBs and that my phone won't hold all of my selections. I have already unchecked 1000 songs that I had on there from my previous sync and it still doesn't work. I had 2900 songs on there before, have cut it down to 1900 and still nothing. Anyway to solve this problem?

Does your phone have 5GB of free space or does iCloud have 5GB of free space?

Don't delete items on the iPhone. Syncing will take care of this.
You need to delete times you have selected to sync.
Create playlist(s) and add songs, You can see how large these playlists are.
You can then sync only those playlists.

Itunes saying not enough space when ipod empty

Hi,
I went to update my ipod mini(4gb) after having to reinstall itunes(annoying) and itunes is saying there is not enough free space to update all files.Even tho my ipod is completley empty itunes thinks there's only about 50% free. Even when i go to my ipod in itunes there is nothing there.it's the bar at the bottom saying ive used 1.75gb with 2.03gb free. Any help would be very appreciated!!!

After reviewing your post, it sounds like the iPhone will not update because it needs more space available. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

What does it mean when iTunes say "not enough memory" and won't let me buy songs?

Everytime I try to purchase a song, I get a message that says "The iTunes store cannot complete your request. There is not enough memory available." I have plenty of space on my computer. What does this mean, and how do I fix it?

Can't sync iphone to itunes; says not enough space but it's double counting content on phone and same content in itunes

My iphone is pretty full but there is still some space.
I tried to sync to update it from itunes and it says it needs 9 more gigs of space to sync, which is ridiculous and wrong. I deleted a ton of content in itunes on my computer and it still says it needs 8 gigs.
So I looked at the content that itunes on my computer says is on my phone - it only sees 2 songs, the last two I downloaded and synced. It doesn't see the rest of the 700 as being on my phone.
I think for some reason the itunes in my computer is not recognizing the identical content on the phone as already downloaded and it thinks it still needs to download all the content from my computer to the phone - thus double counting as it sees that the phone is almost full but isn't recognizing 99% of the itunes content is already on the phone.
Not sure how to get out of this do-loop. I'd hate to erase the content on my phone and start over in case it still won't sync. At least now I have the vast majority of the content I want on the phone on it.

Had same problem. Then I played a purchased song (on my iMac), connected by iPhone and ran a sync, go same message about 27 songs (in my case) not authorized for download, all of which were purchased songs. then went back and went to iTunes store and tried to log in. Then it asked me from my password which rang a bell!!! I'd changed my password last week. Entered new password and voila!! problem solved!

Goodreader and iTunes says "not enough memory available"

I am trying to put 6.3 GB of PDF documents on to my ipad I am running windows 7 32 bit, with 4 gig of ram, and 500 GB HD.
Goodreader starts to copy the PDF files to my ipad. Then I watch the task manager and when iTunes eats up about 1.5GB of Ram it crashes. I can keep this process up until all my pdf files are on the ipad but I am managing 214 ipads. So it takes me about 1-2 hours just put my pdf files on my ipads.
Any help woudl be awesome!

First, make sure your iTunes does not attempt to sync automatically. Open iTunes, and select Preferences under the iTunes menu item:
Then, once you have hooked up your device and selected it, you should see the device Profile pages to the right. Select the Music tab:
Once you get to the Music detail screen, you will see the option to "Sync Music". You can then select "Sync Entire Music Library" or you can select "Sync Selected Playlists, Artists, Albums, Genres". Click on the second one. Then, below, you can select which of your music from the library you want on your device:
Your will show a list of your music. Mine doesn't because I sync with an iTunes library on different computer, but once you have selected the options I have shown you, you will see the music listed. Just pick what you want on your device and then click "Sync" at the bottom.

Pictures, assuming they were taken with the device, can be copied off at any time. This has nothing to do with syncing.
If the pictures were instead synced to the device via iTunes, they are not the original images. Instead, they are optimized copies of the originals for display on the iPhone. There is software that can extract them, google it.
Where is the backup of the computer? And before you ask, the iPhone, like all iDevices, is not and has never been a backup device.

- Because as the message says what you want to sync to the iPad exceed the space available on the iPad. You either have to sync less to the iPad or delete some items from the iPad.
- Also, in the colored bargraph that shows the distribution of storage on the iPad, how large is the "other" category? If larger than about 1 1/2 GB then restoring the iPod should reduce that so you can regain that storage.
