5gen Nano iTunes 10.1.0.54 device page missing "Contacts" tab?

Been having major issues trying to sync Outlook 2010 calendar to 5gen Nano. New version of iTunes does not have the "Contacts" tab at the top bar when you click on the iPod icon, under "Devices" on left side vertical bar. Is this a reason I cannot sync my Outlook calendar? Is Outlook 2010 to new for iTunes 10.1.0.54 running on Windows Vista Home SP2?

OK. This is how I fixed it.
It seems that CoreAudioToolbox.dll 7.9.4.0 is broken. there are numerous topics on the subject on this forum. Version 7.9.3.0 works and is available in the Safari download at time of posting. Who knows how long it will remain so.
Download the Safari installer from the Apple site.
Stop iTunes if it is running.
Likewise QuickTime.
Navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\ folder. (You need an account with administration priviliges.)
Rename the errant CoreAudioToolbox.dll
Use a utilty such as 7Zip to extract the SafariSetup.exe archive.
Go to the resultant SafariSetup folder and select the AppleApplicationSupport archive and extract using 7Zip.
Go to the resultant AppleApplicationSetup folder and find the AppleApplicationSupport.cab (cabinent) file. Open the file in 7Zip and look for CoreAudioToolbox.dll and extract the file.
Copy it to the location of the original file.
Relaunch iTunes and sync as 128 kbps AAC is now well.
WinRar or WinZip etc. should work just as well. However I used 7Zip.

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

Why would my iPod nano suddenly not recognise its USB device? What the???? Cannot sychronise or transfer my music from my PC, had a back up USB & does not recognise this either. Please can s'one advise?
    Thank you

Have you tried restarting your computer?

  • ITunes no longer recognizes my devices

I get this error message:  "iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support.  Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again."  Well, I have tried to do that repeatedly.  Although iTunes will install, Apple Mobile Device Support won't.  It looks like it is installing and then it rolls back and says "Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't install on your computer.  The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured.  Your system has not been modified.  To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again."
Frankly, I really resent the fact that I am going to have to pay someone to solve this problem.  Up until the latest update, iTunes was working fine on my (Vista) PC.
Does anyone have any suggestions that would fix this problem?
What I think should happen is that Apple should have to absorb the cost of my having to pay to get this problem resolved.
Not a happy Apple customer.  I now have two devices that are largely useless to me.

Thanks whatheck, but I've tried all the suggestions on that page.
The only thing I can remember (before losing connectivity with iTunes) was a breif message something to the effect that "device cannot be charged through USB". I thought this may be a loose power connection to my MacBook but that wasn't it.
As an aside I've also had issues when connectiong through my external display, but was plugged directly into the usb's on my Mac, both when connected with the external dispaly and when not.
As I mentioned, I've always been able to update through usb so something changed. I can still connect to my iPad and iPhone wirelessly but need the usb connection for my nano....
    Thanks for any further help.

  • Itunes quits when plug in device

As of a few days ago, when I plug in any of my devices to sync with iTunes, and click on the device, iTunes immediately aborts.  I have tried rebooting, system updates, restored my devices on another computer, using different cables, restarting the devices (ipod touch, nano) and still nothing.  Any advice? suggestions?
    Thank you in advance

I figured out a fix for my issue. Go to my post on this problem and see if it applies to your situation, then give it a shot. The culprit for me appears to be iTunes version 8.0.2. Let me know if the fix works for you.

  • Will Itunes only communicate with one device per computer?

I get an invalid response from Itunes when my iphone4 is connected to Itunes. I also have a nano that connectes and is working properly. Will Itunes only work with one device per computer. I took the iphone to an apple store and it connects with itunes like it should. I have swapped cables and ports, and downloaded the latest version. Thanks for your help

It is mean to work with multiple devices, although not simultaneously.  However I have had exactly the same issue with iTunes 10.7 and Windows7 and a new 16GB iPod touch on iOS6 just this week.
iTunes detects and displays the iPod classic fine, but won't find the iPod Touch when it is connected.  The connection is working fine as the Windows OS can see the iPod touch, just not iTunes.
I had a 2nd PC, which has a copy of the iTunes on it and the same media collection - this PC immediately recognised the Touch, so I have gotten around this issue, although I suspect reinstalling iTunes on the original PC may have also fixed it - I have kept a copy of iTunes 10.7.exe so I can reinstall and avoid that POS V11.
I suspect iTunes gets tetchy about hooking in two devices.
Actually as a mostly Windows / Android user, I don't get why on earth do Apple force you to do everything via iTunes anyway?  Seems crazy to me.  I sort of like the way I can hook up the Android unit and just drag over the files I want without all the darn hoop jumping Apple wants me to do.  Anyway... I digress.
So Not sure.  Happy I found an easier solution than a reinstall of iTunes.  Of course, using a 2nd (mirrored) PC might not be an option for you.  Good luck. Wish I had a better / more useful suggestion for you.

  • How do I use the time capsule to share itunes music between multiple apple devices? Also, is it possible to control the music on one device using another, and how do you set this up?

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

that is odd! that should not be happening.
Are you syncing your songs right off of itunes itself? because it should be syncing over to the ipod however it is listed in itunes.

  • How do I get iTunes to recognize a new device if I accidentally did not hit new device when I first hooked it up? I hit the button that said I wanted to back it up from my old info

How do I get iTunes to recognize a new device if I accidentally did not hit new device when I first hooked it up? I hit the button that said I wanted to back it up from my old phone. The new phone is my husbands and I don't want to back up my phone info on it. I re connected it hoping it would prompt me with the option again and it doesn't , it just shows up as a back up to my phone. How can I get it to give me that option in the beginning again

First of all, I think the first time you sync an iPod that's formatted for Windows on a Mac, the sync process reformats it for Mac. You can check what it is now by looking for the iPod with Disk Utility. If it's Mac OS Extended, it's formatted for Mac already.
Also, there is no current iPod updater app these days. iTunes handles it through the Restore button. If you are not able to use the latest iTunes because of your Mac, I can understand. The latest version of iTunes should run with 10.3.9 or later, if the hardware can handle it.
You said the battery was low so let it recharge for a while.
You should also reset the iPod. It's part of the 5Rs, which you should go through as the starting point for iPod trouble-shooting.

  • Iphone 4 randomly came up with a grey screen showing 'ios6' and then said 'connect to iTunes'. However iTunes won't pick the device up and states there is an error with the device?

My iPhone was working fine yesterday and then showed a grey screen with the message 'ios6'. When I tried to use the phone it came up with the error message 'connect to iTunes'. When I got home from work I did this, at first iTunes could not detect the device and then it suggested a system restore. Once the restore had completed I selected the language, country/region and then came back to the same error message 'connect to iTunes'. When I tried to connect the device iTunes could not detect it and stated that there was a problem with the device.
I have telephoned my network provider to request a replacement device on my insurance but they have said they cannot authorise until I have had the fault diagnosed my Apple. Only problem is there are no genius appointments free until Friday!
Any help would be massively appreciated!

  • HT4623 how in the world do I have my children 1 ipod & 1 with iphone be on my itunes (My iphone) so 3 devices account without our devices getting each others texts etc. etc.???

How can i use 2 iphones & 1 ipod on my itunes account without all the devices getting all the texts bewteen all three devices? It also looks like I've lost about 82 songs that have been purchased as they aren't showing in purchased?? Not happy Thanks

When you say "use the same purchasing apple ID for both to share books/music apps"- will this allow him to see what apps I download on his ipod (don't want)? will this allow me to continue to see what apps/games he gets on his ipod, on my phone (do want)? and do I set those changes on both devices?
    To do this:
iPhone: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
         Music: ON
         Apps: ON
         Books: ON
iPod: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
now you decide what he gets automatically.
He doesn't use game center, imessage, facetime or anything else (mainly just games, music and picture taking)- so does he really need his own apple id and email address? also- if he wants to start getting text messages, would i still have access to all of them if he has his own apple id? would i have access to them if he stays on my apple id?
Then he doesn't need an Apple ID.
    Switch in
    Settings > Messages >
         iMessage: OFF
Send & Receive > Apple ID: > sign out
Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime: OFF
