5Ghz WiFi on E2500 stopped working

I had my E2500 with 2.4 and 5Ghz WiFis with different names working fine for months until yesterday when 5Ghz WiFi stopped working and I had to switch my PC back to 2.4ghz. When I go to the router page -> Status -> Wireless Networks the 5Ghz network shows an empty MAC address, Channel as N/A and Channel Width as N/A, while 2.4 has them properly filled. I've tried using different settings for the WiFi, but nothing worked. I also tried resetting the device and updating the firmware. How do I know that the 5Ghz interface is not defective and figure out the cause of the problem?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Ensure the FW was updated correctly:
To safely update FW, I recommend doing the following: Download the FW file from the support site first.
1. Save router config to file first using IE or FF with all security add-ons disabled.
2. Factory reset the router with all other devices disconnected or turned OFF accept for 1 wired PC.
3. Reload or Update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your local wired LAN PC.
4. Factory reset the router and then set up from scratch first and test with out loading the saved config from file. Check to see if any problems are fixed before loading the saved config from file. Sometimes you need to set up from scratch with out loading the saved config file. Just safer that way.

  • Why have the ports on the left of my macbook pro and the wifi and bluetooth stopped working?

    Hey All,
About a week ago the two usb ports on the left of my 17" macbook pro, soundcard, wifi, and bluetooth stopped working. The power port, ethernet, remaining usb on the right are still functional. I've tried repairing the permissions and other software based solutions but to no avail. I'm worried that this might be a motherboard issue but am apprehensive about taking the ol' girl into a genius because it will probably cost more to repair than the remaining value of the system. Anyone have any ideas, can confirm my suspicion?
    Thanks!

Well I'm using Google Chrome browser on Lion and when I type in that URL nothing happens. Except for the "This webpage is not available" banner.
So it looks like your website is down and what you are getting on your devices are cache.
Oh just deleted the www and now I see the page. Yup all the info looks intact. home about us products Q&A and so on.

  • Wifi has suddenly stopped working. There is an exclamation mark which takes me to network diagnostics. This asks me for network name and password. This is different from the startup wizard which only asked for a WEP key and modem name. What to do?

My wifi has suddenly stopped working on my iMac, after working fine for almost a year. There is an exclamation mark on the wifi bars and when I click it, it takes me to a network diagnostics page. This page asks me for my username and password for the wifi, which I don't have. It is different from the WEP key and modem name, which I originally used to set up my connection. I have not experienced any problems on all my other wifi-enabled devices. Ipod touch, iPad, MacBook all work fine. What should I do?

The name is the name of the network you created on the router. The password is the WEP password. You shouldn't be using WEP at all, as it's insecure and also seems to cause connection failures. Use WPA 2 Personal. If your router doesn't support it, get a new one.

  • ITunes Wifi sync has stopped working

iTunes has stopped syncing over wifi with my iPhone 5S and iPad Mini. It's always been a bit flaky, but has recently stopped working completely. iTunes will not see the devices unless I either reboot them, or plug them in with the Thunderbolt cable, deselect and select "sync with this device over wifi" and apply. If I try to use wifi sync, iTunes gives me a "looking for device" message and then drops the connection.
My set up is a Mac Pro running 10.10, hooked up to an Airport Express via Cat 6. Both iOS devices are on iOS 8.
I have tried changing the IPV6 settings on both my machine and my Airport Express, resetting the network settings on both iOS devices, and flushing my machine's DNS cache.
I see the following messages repeated in my system log:

  • The WiFi does not stop working...

Since I download the iOS 5.0.1 y notice that the WiFi connection don´t stop working when I put my 3Gs to sleep.
After several minutes the phone gets hot and it´s beacuse of the wifi connection!

I've been closed all the apps but the wifi still runs.
Now I'm going to set on the airplane mode to check if the temperature is because of the wifi or cellular network

  • My MBP 7,1 wifi connection suddenly stopped working. It was working fine before until the battery emptied. I turned it on but it froze so I tried to reset it. Then, after that it no longer detect any wifi signal in any areas I go.

Hi Everyone. My MBP 7,1 didn't have any wifi issues not until 2 weeks ago. The laptop's battery got empty and when I tried to turned it on, the computer just froze. So I tried to reset it. However, I noticed that the wifi or airport can no longer detect any wifi signal. There were instances that it wouldn't turn on when I shut it off but now, it seems okey. I tried the zapping of PRAM and deleting all the things needed as I saw in different threads but it still not working. The ethernet works fine but I still need the wifi. Its been 2 weeks already. I don't have an Apple Store near me coz I am in southern part of Philippines. Can someone shed light on this? Thank you so much.

Hi!! To add more to the issue, the other day, my airport card is nowhere to be found. It now says no airport card installed which is really crazy. I also noticed that my MBP freezes during start up and I had to zap the PRAM so it would open up. Anyone there who experienced the same thing? I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

  • My home wifi has just stopped working

All of a sudden I can't connect to my home wifi network. I have tried resetting the network settings, and also resetting the ipod, none of which work. It comes up with the name of the network, with the strength of signal etc, but when I put in the password, it says 'unable to connect to network.' Please help me! (My ipod is a 32gb Ipod Touch 4th generation)

What make/model router do you have?
What ISP are you using? (Some ISPs periodically update router firmware)
What type of security are you running? (WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Is MAC address filtering enabled in your router?
Do other devices connect to your network? (Note, this does not mean stay connected but, rather, can they reconnect if disconnected.)
Does your iPod connect to any other networks?
Have you made any router changes?

  • Ipad wifi 4g lte stopped working

After not using my iPad for a couple days (while away), both the 4G LTE and WIFI no longer work on my home network. My phone and laptop still work fine so there's no issue w/ the WIFI network itself. I've seen some posts about a recent upgrade maybe causing issues (??). Is this true ... and more importantly is there a fix ?

Restart your WiFi router by removing power to it for 30 seconds.

  • IPhones WiFi Connection Suddenly Stopped Working

Woke up this morning and my iPhone is failing to connect to my home WiFi network (Uverse through a 2WIRE 3800HGV-B router, WPA Personal security). My Macbook and my wife's iPhone are still connecting without any problems, so I know the network is good. I've tried reentering the password; rebooting the iPhone; and turning WiFi off, forgetting the network and building the connection anew, but no dice. I also made sure the iPhone's software was up to date (it was). Haven't had a chance to try any other WiFi networks yet.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Nate

Tried #1; didn't work. As for #2, since I synced after this began, wouldn't that just restore that last backup and thus be ineffective? And for #3, what's the best way to do so and then restore everything I want to keep (accounts, pics, etc)? (I don't want to try any of these more drastic measures before having a chance to see if the iPhone connects to other known networks, hopefully Monday or Tuesday I'll be near some).
As for the router/MAC thing, this iPhone has worked on this network without problem for five months, since I first set it up. There have been no changes to any part of the configuration.
    Thanks,
    Nate

  • Data Services through WiFi have suddenly stopped working

    Hi there,
I own a Blackberry Curve 8900 on o2 UK. I have a data plan and everything was working fine. As I live in a rural part of England where some areas are black spots for signal, I realised that I can use all data services through WiFi.
I am currently in a region of Afghanistan where there is no GPRS/EDGE coverage, my phone only shows as GSM, however untill last week I was still able to use BB Messenger and email through a WiFi connection.
If I open my browser on the phone, I can still use it to access websites, however when I try to send an email or PIN, I straight away get the red clock symbol. It does not even seem to attempt to send, as the red clock is almost simultaneous with pressing send.
The only event that coincides with this problem is the installation of OPEN DNS on the WiFi network I am connecting to. Is it possible that OPEN DNS could be blocking 'data service' or 'blackberry internet service', if I am right in saying that these features use BIS even through WiFi? What would I need to tell my network administrator to look for?
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Kind Regards

    Okay after some research I have found that;
    - The Host Routing Table should have entries in it,
    -Mine doesn't.
It certainly used to have them as I remember checking it, I'm thinking this could have been wiped by changing the SIM cards. Therefore I'm going to need to re register next time I'm an area covered by GPRS/EDGE.
So my next question: Is there any way of registering the Host Routing Table through WiFi or manually adding data? I have registered before and I do have the BB data plan.
    Thanks again

  • Wifi spontaneously stops working on Blackberry 8530

I recently purchased the Blackberry 8530. The wi-fi turns off on its own and when I try to turn it back on the message "Unable to turn wi-fi on" pops up. This can happen anywhere I go with wireless internet access, so I know it isn't specific to my router. One second it's on, the next it's off. The only way to fix it is to reset with a hard reboot. I have to do this at least once a day, more often it is several times a day. I have seen other forums with similar posts but can't find any solutions. Anyone know what the problem is or have suggestions? Thanks!

In order to use email services on the BB 8520 you MUST have a BIS plan on the account, even when using wifi. When you have no BIS plan EDGE will be edge. My guess is that the system momentarily sees your device and gives you EDGE until it fully sees your provisioning and then drops back to edge, where it should be with no BIS plan. Your problems are from not having a BIS plan.

  • My ipod touch 5th generation keeps wifi signal for 10-30 minutes and then just stops working.

I've had my ipod for about a month now and it worked fine up until this week.
This week I noticed probelms with the wifi. I would be just on facebook or browsing the web and the wifi would just stop working. Every time I turned wifi off and the on again it would give me about 5-10 more minutes of wifi before I had to do it again. I've never expeiranced this with my other 4th generation or 3rd generation ipod touches. The wifi itself is not the probelm because it works just fine on my laptop. Today I updated my software and the probelm was not resolved.
I need help sould I got to the Apple store and have them check it out?

Does the iPod have the problem with other networks?
    Do other devices work OK?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - DOes the router have the latest firmware?
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Macbook Pro wifi stops working, won't turn back on, requires restart to fix?

So for the last two days my Macbook Pro's being doing something very strange. At random times, the wifi will just stop working (as in it thinks I have wifi but no webpages load anymore and my dropbox can't sync) and when I go to turn the wifi off and back on (in an effort to restart the chip thinking it would solve the issue), it won't turn back on. I go into the System Preferences, hit "turn wifi on" and nothing happens. I hit it about 10 times and that does absolutely nothing. I've then tried putting my mac to sleep and waking it back up, which delivers even stranger results; The wifi turns back on, but can't find any networks, both using scan and manually inputting the details of my network. So far the only fix for it is to just restart my Mac and then the wifi works just fine like nothing ever happened (until it happens again, usually a few hours later). I'm currently running OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 on a 15" early 2011 Macbook Pro (MC723LL/A) with 2.2 GHz quad-core i7 and a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD. The most recent modifications I've made are just installing GDB debugger and creating a custom certificate for it to be able to run Eclipse C/C++ IDE on my Mac, but I seriously doubt that would have caused the issue (especially since that was running for a few days before this happened). Has anyone else had a problem like this?

So many people are having this problem. I believe I have solved it. I posted it on another thread, but I will post it here:
First - let me say that I tried trashing the bluetooth preferences and restarting. That worked for about 10 minutes, then I also tried reorder the connections in Network Preferences, that didn't do much either.
Here's what worked: Open System Preference, click on "Energy Saver", uncheck "Wake for network access". This has totally worked for me. I connect flawlessly and immediately to my network and to my printer.
My order of connectivity of network devices is still ordered where Bluetooth is near the last of the devices. But really, try deselecting "Wake for network access"

    Hi there,
I have not had any success. I took the ipod to the nearest apple shop but as it was out of warranty they could do nothing to help - not even send it to apple to repair for a charge. They put me in touch with an approved apple tech support/repair place but they have just got back to me saying it is unrepairable. I'm pretty hacked off. It is only 18 months old, has been well looked after, and a 16GB ipod touch was not cheap, and now I can't replace it with the same as they don't do 16GB anymore, an 8GB is not really big enough for my daughter, and the 32GB is way too expensive. I really am pretty gutted. We were just considering buying an apple mac, but I've seriously lost faith in apple. My son's 16GB touch of the same age also has had a problem with the headphone socket, this has just been repaired for £45! I am going to get the extended warranty for my 3 month old touch 64GB, in case a similar thing occurs, though when I went to buy online I see they add £5 for delivery - to deliver what? a piece of paper saying I've got the warranty? hmmmm!
    Disappointed and hacked off !
