5s iPhone goes to mute or speaker

I have a 5s sometimes during a phone call it goes to mute or speaker

Check to see if the screen of the phone is blanking out while you have the phone to your ear. Do you have a case and/or screen protector on the phone? It is possible something is blocking the proximity sensor and that is causing it not to work correctly. Try a call without the case if you have one on it.

My iPhone 4 has the same problem. Other people I know have similar issues. Other threads in the forum have commented that there could be a problem with the screen proximity sensor that is triggered by your ear being near or touching the on-screen mute or speaker button. They claim that an external case or a screen protector could cause the proximity sensor to malfunction, or possibly the screen needs to be cleaned. I tried putting a non-conductive thin cover over the phone, and it did not help. In my opinion, the phone works as designed. Other than switching to another brand phone or Apple fixing it with a functional iOS update versus a pretty iOS update, I've only found one solution, which is to use a headphone/microphone or a hands-free device. Of course, using a headphone/microphone is often inconvenient.

Have the same problem with every phone call since going to IOS7 - think my face is touching the mute on the screen but I am unaware that it has happened and keep talking until I realise the other side has hung up as they can't hear me - extremely frustrating. Then when the other side calls back, I don't hear the call as it is muted!! Is there a fix for this or a way to move the mute button??

I am having an iphone 4 and it is not working. i am trying to restore it on itunes directly but it stays at waiting for iphone status with no errors and the iphone goes into a mode where it keeps restarting continuously with apple logo on the screen

the iphone goes from recovery mode to some other mode where it keeps restarting with apple logo flashing on the screen continuously. and there is no error in itunes at all which stays in "waiting for iphone" status

my iphone has gone mute. I have check the mute button on the phone and on the left side. They are all correct. I have hard reset it by holding the on/off button at the sme time as the middle bottom button. Nothing seems to work. But plug in head phones and it all works.

I cured the sleep delay which is working normal now. In order to make this happen I had to re-set the printer to clear the hidden item which was not accessible. (It was not in the que) When the printer was cleared/reset it knocked out the fax modem also which now has to be re-installed. Is there an update to cure this or make the printer glitch accessible. Help is appreciated :-)

Take it to the Apple Store where you purchased it from. It is still under warranty. They will replace it if necessary.

IPhone going wild in the middle of the night

my iPhone goes wild in the middle of the night when it is connected to the power lead. I makes call at 1am to random people in my contacts, send text messages with random text, opens internet pages and searches internet with the same random text.
Help! How can I stop this?
Last night it called a friend of mine: my phone was on loudspeaker ringing until she answered! How bad is that? It was 1am!!

Reset your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
That should fix the issue. But I have one other recommendation:
You might consider powering your iPhone off while you are sleeping. That would, among other things, save the battery. But it would also make sure this behavior never happens again.

I had this same thing happen to me. I was using my brand new iphone 5 (texting and listening to music through the speakers) when it flashed the apple logo, stopped my music and brought me to the lock screen.
