5s,tpm,six sigm aprocess  in sap

how to do 5s ,tpm like tagging and six sigma like DOE
CAN WE DO IN SAP
i hav etkaen some intiative to mould these things to sap
but waitinf for some other experience or else i npost my one

hi
1/ tpm,six sigma,5s are  all methodology or tools that is used in shop floor or else where to improve sysytem perfomance like
1/ six sima to reduce regection 3.4 per ppm
2/5s,tpm,are tools to improve oee,pm effectiveness,smed
i see many times this question and i came across this question during my implenmentation
fiest we will take
1/ 5s  means you have  to  clean,systematic arrangement,sorting
in sap
1/ you can use the actvity report for all these s
2/ you acn also define variuos characterstic and do the observation by measuement document and on the basis of that you can do tagging of tpm
3/ spic and span and cleaning you can do through maintenace item in sap
4/ in tpm we do observe the effectiveness of pm plan
that in sap we can see the planned preventive maintenace schedule vers actula done  so we can check the effectiveness of pm plan
5/oee we can claculte from plant maintenac prespectiv elike using mttr, mtbf, and brekdown analycys
there are other things whic i ahve don ein my current implementation to comply with six sigma nad tpm,5s
here its too long to desribe
the bottom line is this tpm,six sigma practices in company can be do with saps various tools without much devlopment
thats what i have done i ahve seen the result in last 4 month

As a part of the company training i have done white belt certification.
Now , iam interested to take this Green Belt training .
my question is this certification will help me in the future for career prospects considering the fact that I am in SAP cometency..
    please advise.
    thanx in advance,

    what i want to say
    like sap ,six sigma methodology
in six sigma your failure level should be on six sigma level
    means PPM per3.4
    mapping ins ap
you have to design the process
so that you can getth resule at six sigma level
in my previous reply i indicate the sap palnt maintenance as example

  • Six Sigma & SPC

Given the recent article from SAP regarding the creation of DMAIC projects through cProjects & Visual Composer has there been any consideration of the process analysis tools that BO currently offers.  In particular the ability to produce control charts and the automation of alerts for processes out of control.

    Check out:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Sigma
Below is ripped from the OWB 11.1 user guide:
With respect to data profiling, the number of defects and anomalies discovered are
shown as Six Sigma metrics. For example, if data profiling finds that a table has a row
relationship with a second table, the number of records in the first table that do not
adhere to this row-relationship can be described using the Six Sigma metric.
Six Sigma metrics are calculated for the following measures in the Data Profile Editor:
    Aggregation
    Data Types
    Data Types
    Data Types
    Patterns
    Domains
    Referential
    Unique Key
    Data Rule
Data auditors also can produce six sigma for continual monitoring.

    Hi experts,
What is six singma analysis mentioned in xMII training books? Is it SPC Chart?
Under quality action block there are SPC/SQC Chart and SPC/SQC analysis, what's the difference between them?
    Thanks,
    Tony.

    Hi Hu,
In general view the SPC/SQC Analysis means to check the violation of Process or a Product is violated from the quality measures.
In this scenario we can define Upper and lower control limits. If the values go beyond these limits then it is said to be violated the rules. So that user can analyze the process or product easily.
The basic thing is to achive the zero defects, so we can do this by using SAP MII SPC/SQC Analysis Action Block.
SPC/SQC Chart Action block intended to generate charts in the form of images and also for the reports on a static html page.
    Hope this will help you.

  • TPM, Predictive Maintenance and calibration of test equipments.

    hi experts,
can anyone explain me TPM, Predictive Maintenance and calibration of test equipments. Please clear my these concepts with domain knowledge.
    Thanks

TPM: Is Total productive maintenance. It is a standard tool used in different industries. TPM has many parts like preventive maintenance, preditive maintenance , 5S etc. The basic purpose of TPM is to increase the production and decrease the breakdown using 5S, preventive and predictive maintenaace and many other ty6pes of maintenence strategies like Root cause analysis, six sigma. so TPM is a broad term under which all the maintenance strategies, six sigma, 5S etc lies. To get knowledge about TPM here in SDN is not possible. Please follow this lik.
Predictive maintenance: it is the third step after the breakdown maintenace and preventive maintenance.
    The flow is as follows:
    Breakdown maintenance--Preventive maintenance--
    predictive maintenace.
TPM is used to move from breakdown maintenace to preventive maintenance and then tyo predictive maintenance.
Predictive maintenance is to predict the effect of any internal or external factor on machine or equipment and to take precautionary measure before that effect cause any effect on the machine. So to avoid the breakdown maintenance which result in close of plant and zero production , predictive maintenance is the best tool. But it is very hard to implemnt in practical maintenance scnerios.
Calibration of test equipments:  There are certain equipments in industries which need to be clibrated after a fixed time like 6 months , 2 years etc. Such type of equipment are temperature transmitters, sensors, pressure transmitter and sensor, Flow, level, moisture etc. Claibration is to set the instrument against a standard range which we get from master calibration instrument. these are called test equipments. In SAP PM  and QM we have to map that [process of calibration.
Take a example:  i have a temperature transmitter which i am using in milk industry for measuring the temperature of the milk. so When the temperature of milk is 50 degree celusis, the instrument must give me the output reading of 50 degree celseis. But after some time say 6 months the range and span and calibration of instrument get changed. So we need to calibrate it again to get the accurate reading. So we calibrate the indtrument with a standard transmitter.

  • What is the best way to build a career path where I can evolve into an SAP role instead of one that is Customer Service based?

In October 2011, my previous employer converted to SAP, as the rest of the worldwide entities were already using SAP. At that time, I was an Order Coordinator, where my job role was to process all of the Inside/Outside Sales Representatives orders for the US. Because of my keen attention to detail, the speed in which I learn new roles and general IT knowledge, I was asked to be the SAP SuperUser for our Financial Operations team. I quickly began to learn the roles of Order-to-Cash, Customer Master Data, Pricing Conditions, Contracts, some Material Master Data, and even Customer/Material Pricing Audits. I also performed manual customer billing in SAP until the automatic modules were implemented. Knowledge of these roles created a need for me to become a trainer to my team, where the SAP Consultants left off. After only working in SAP for the few months after the conversion started, I evolved out of an Order Coordinator rights of access and was given a not-so-typical role as an "analyst". I had more than a firefighter role in SAP, as my normal log in credentials gave me full rights to all of these modules and even special reporting. Our parent global company realized necessity for my role and followed proper protocol to authorize the access changes to still meet the SOx regulations. Prior to using SAP, I never thought I'd fall in love with it and enjoy my job so much, but it happened! Despite my previous employer's less than perfect data that was copied into SAP, we managed to have an efficient ongoing process to clean it all up.  I became more of a liaison between Financial Operations and our IT Dept/SAP Consultants. I "translated" the technical steps that IT/SAP Consultants were trying to teach everyone and trained my Financial Operations team in a way they would understand. I truly enjoyed my job, even at our most difficult moments.
However, after all of the fun I was having while working in SAP and truly gaining a ton of useful experience and knowledge, "life" happened and I had an opportunity to move from Atlanta, GA to southern California. I've searched for months to find a new career here in California with a company that I could continue my learning experiences and become more proficient in SAP, but I'm a little lost. My search to find jobs have only given me possibilities in Customer Service positions or ones that are SAP sales/programming based. I'm floating in limbo and looking for help from the SAP community on where I can go from here to get back into a career path with SAP.
I'm 28 years old and I'm currently finishing my Associate degree in Business Administration. I'm a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), certified with the Help-Desk Institute as a Support Center Analyst, and also completed my previous employer's Quality Advocate Certification which focused on Six Sigma and Lean concepts. Prior to leaving the company, I was being considered for a company sponsored training in the Six Sigma Green or Black Belt program. I've recently started working a contract position as a Customer Service Rep, processing orders, but the company will be completing an SAP conversion in May 2013; so only a few months away. The problem I have in this position is that I feel frustrated in learning their current software when their entire team seems to have their own personal ways of doing their job. I prefer to have structure and perform job duties the right way, then building on that to make the job more streamlined. I spoke with my recruiter but he feels I may be a bit premature on feelings about working in this contract position. I may be just feeling a little impatient in having to wait another 3 months to see if the company may even hire me on permanently and what role I would have with SAP, beyond Customer Service Rep. I'm hoping to get some direction from the SAP community on where I might focus my attention in learning SAP. My hope is to find a position working with SAP like the one I enjoyed so much back in GA. I'm even considering options to learn the programming side. I think SAP is a great software package once people understand how it's designed, or can be designed, to work.
    Please help!!
I'd be happy to provide my resume to anyone willing to review it and give me some pointers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I appreciate the length and detail of your post. I struggle answering questions from folks who give too little info. It's refreshing to have too much info for a change.
I'll summarize your post and give suggestions:
You have very strong end user experience, almost bordering on support level SD knowledge. You have experience with the way that at least one company implemented SAP SD but don't have many years of experience with different approaches, so you can't pitch yourself as someone who's "been-there, done-that" outside of the SD world and you can't bill yourself as having SD functional knowledge to the extend that you could be a consultant for SAP SD.  (See FAQ: Different Career Paths in SAP for descriptions of different traditional SAP career paths.)
You've moved to Southern California, which is chock full of companies using SAP, by the way, and you're having a hard time finding the right job. Your education is probably going to be problematic at this point. Most SAP related jobs require a Bachelor's Degree at a minimum. Definitely keep on going with your degree. I don't know where you're doing your associate's degree, but you might want to look in to Cal State Fullerton, which has an *excellent* SAP focused business degree program. (http://business.fullerton.edu/).
You've found work at a company but had to start over at a lower level of responsibility. Since the job you just landed will be transitioning to SAP in 3 months, you have an opportunity to repeat your previous rise by volunteering to be a super-user again. Alternatively, you could talk to the group within your company and express your desire to help out supporting the system from the back end. Traditionally, companies lose a few folks immediately following an implementation, so there's a good chance that if you make your desires and skills known, that you'll be able to move onto the support team once a position opens up.
All of the above assumes that you want to continue on the functional side of SD. You didn't mention any aptitude or preference for programming. It is certainly easier to get programming jobs than functional jobs (see How did you get your start in SAP?), but it seems like you really enjoyed the functional side of SAP. I do *not* recommend learning an SAP skill for which you have no desire simply to get a job, hoping that you can switch later. Use the skills you have to get the job you really want, doing something that really excites you. It's far to easy to fall into a job simply because it's there and get trapped and burned out.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
      --Tom

    Hi Vegendla
Technology playing a major role in today's business environment. So many companies and corporations have adopted information technology on a large scale by using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to accomplish their business transaction and data processing needs. And in this technology SAP R/3 plays a significant role when compared with other similar tools.
ERP system takes a lead role because of some of the following reasons:
Many large corporations use several different and separate information systems, often because they have merged with and/or acquired other companies with varied systems. An ERP system integrates these separate information systems and results in improved data reliability and processing efficiency. ERP systems are not only used by large corporations but becoming popular with small to mid-sized companies also.
Simplify business transaction processing and thus work load is reduced.
Some of the main advantages of using SAP R/3 are listed below:
SAP's R/3, introduced in 1992, is the most used ERP system in the world.
The R/3 software package is designed to allow businesses to effectively and efficiently operate a variety of business processes within a single integrated information system.
The software is customizable using SAP's proprietary programming language, ABAP/4. R/3 is scalable and highly suited for many types and sizes of organizations and runs on six different platforms.
SAP’s R/3 has been designed to be the best ERP system in the four areas of human resources, financial, supply chain management, and marketing. R/3 is also an international product, and meets the local fiscal, language, and tax requirements of most countries.

  • SAP QM mdule support to SQC

    Dear all,
I would like to know capability of SAP QM module for statistical quality control tools. Will it support six sigma tools?
By the way I m newbie in SAP.
    Regards
    Parag Kulkarni
    Haridwar

    Hi,
The term statistical quality control (SQC) is often used interchangeably with statistical process control (SPC). SPC is the application of statistical techniques to control a process. SAP ERP supports Six Sigma approaches for analyzing measured values and non-conformance data, e.g., various quality control charts, Western Electric rules, capability indicators (cp, cpk), Pareto analysis, trend analysis, and exception analysis. It provides an interface (QM-STI) to external tools for statistical analysis, for example, if you need verification of a distribution or significance tests.
In addition, SAP xApp for Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) can be used as a front-end to visualize quality data from SAP ERP and execute statistical process control.

  • Help with SAP xMII

I am an SAP XI developer,I am entirely new to SAP xMII,
what is exactly SAP xMII ,
are there similarities between XI and xMII
    Thanks

    Hi,
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) is SAP's enterprise application integration (EAI) software, a component of the NetWeaver product group used to facilitate the exchange of information among a company's internal software and systems and those of external parties. Like other NetWeaver components, SAP XI is compatible with software products of other companies.
SAP calls XI an integration broker because it mediates between entities with varying requirements in terms of connectivity, format, and protocols. According to SAP, XI reduces integration costs by providing a common repository for interfaces. The central component of SAP XI is the SAP Integration Server, which facilitates interaction between diverse operating systems and applications across internal and external networked computer systems.
xMII is part of xApps an SAP AG product in the NetWeaver suite. Allen Davis a NetWeaver xMII expert has successfully used Six Sigma scenarios as information in real time from shop floor control systems and used in plant quality control lab experimental tests. The technology has been applied to a wide range of industries and applications. It supports SAP's adaptive manufacturing strategy. It has evolved from technology acquired when SAP purchased Lighthammer in 2005.
While not an MES it is typically used to link a shop floor system with an ERP and provide portals to information from plant floor applications and systems.
    Thanks and Regards

  • SAP ABAP certificate revoke

On 23rd December 2013 I joined SAP ABAP training at Atos india pvt. ltd., Mumbai and completed my training on 24th January 2014 under guidance of Mr. Harsha. after completion of my training I prepare for my certification exam and on 7th February 2014 I had given my exam and passed with 90%.
On 18th march 2014 after 40 days of certification exam I got mail from SAP AG
    ‘Dear Mr. Mehta,
We are sorry to inform you that, due to exam irregularities,  we are forced to withhold your certification for the exam you took on Feb 7, 2014 at ATOS Mumbai. We are however happy to be able to give you the opportunity to retake the exam free of charge. Please contact our colleagues at SAP Education India to obtain a scheduled date for your retake opportunity.
We wish you every success with your retake.
    Best regards,
    Sue Martin
    Senior Director - Global Certification
    SAP ’
I was shock after reading this mail, two of the batch-mates have not been issued re-examination who scored below 85%. We contacted SAP (India) personals via email and call but we have not been provided with any info as in why this action is been taken and they force us for re-examination after 2 months of certification exam without any server access by just remembering 4 ABAP books.
On 10th April 2014 I re-appeared for the exam and they played with us by setting up the test which is usually has to set for the SAP Experience professionals but not for the fresher’s like us. only 1 lady passed that exam with just 1% above passing marks who has working experience in industry and rest all other 17 students are failed in re-exam.
Also then 3 students who were failed with us were provided certificates even though they were failed in 2nd attempt with us.
The reason stated to us was exam irregularities which is still (after 6 months ) not been explained to us.
Also as per SAP India, when I asked to them about the scenario they just reply that its our bad luck. So does SAP Certification is calculated on luck basis.
If it was not the test takers mistake then how can SAP AG or SAP India blame us and to add to it they have takes 6 months and still we have no Certificates in hand. My whole career is at stakes.
Now again I am being forced to give exam, I am full of confidence that I can crack the exam as per my preparation but I am lacking trust.
Also I am unable to understand why the people who scored below 85% which were my batch mates were issued the certificates. Is scoring high above 85% is crime in SAP.
With no proper reason for 6 months, i am totally frustrated. The next batch after me from my center also scored above 90% so why were they not put to re-test. For us the 2nd attempt was like a professional level paper in which some questions were out from the books that were provided to me.
I still request SAP to release my Certificate, as they have released three of the batch mates from my center even though they failed as Ms Susan Martin herself confessed that the 2nd attempt paper was tough and totally practical based with 6 months of long time and they were favoured so why not me ?
I am getting company offers but I am just short of my certificate thus i have the necessary skills need for the Certificate and I deserve it as I have already cleared my exam.
Also SAP India says that every decision is taken by SAP AG. So I also request SAP India to take a stand and release my Certificate as we had already had a conversation several times.

    Respected Sir/Ma'am,
Today I completed six months after joining SAP course on 9th December 2013 last year. I gave my exam on 7th February 2014 which was the extended 2 weeks date from scheduled date so that I can prepare better for such a huge investment career.
I gave my exam on 7th February 2014 and my hard work paid me and I cleared my exam in first attempt itself. In 6th week when I was expecting my certificate in hand I received a mail stating that I had to reappear my exam as there were irregularities in exam. I and my batch mates were shocked and thought that somebody is playing a joke with us. I called SAP India Education Head in Bangalore and she said that its a direct decision from Germany AG team in Germany. I just asked her to explain meaning of exam irregularities but she just replied us that even she doesn't know anything about this.
Not satisfied with her answer we communicated with SAP Mumbai business Head he also was unable to explain the exact cause of re-exam. me and my batch mates had decided not to give re-exam in any case as it was not a case of cheating from our side and it was just exam irregularity which was not our concern.
But SAP India asked us to give the exam saying that its not test takers fault and definitely the exam will be cracked by us. Also they told us that same level exam will be conducted. Suddenly we got the exam date 20 days before the exam date which was on 10th April 2014. We left everything (searching jobs , giving interview, etc.) aside and again we started preparing for our exam though passing in 1st attempt keeping in mind that it may just be the same level test as it was not test takers fault.
On 10th April 2014 our exam was scheduled which was Thursday (instead the exam takes place on Fridays only), 16 students failed and only 1 passed (the test takers were actually a group of three batches with 17 candidates) with just 61% just one percent above the passing marks and also she was a professional from esteemed company. We were totally confused and deep sorrow. Since from 10th April 2014 till date today we are not clear with what exact forensics SAP AG team is forcing us to give the exam again. It is crystal clear that though there is not any mistake of test taker we are being forced to give the exam again.
In second attempt exam though everybody failed 3 students who were actually failed were declared passed stating that the exam was tough and completely practical based. The only difference between me and those students was the difference of just 2 correct answers but we bolt were actually failed. They were favored then why not us ?
I am from a middle class family. I have paid 3.70 lac on loan basis and again paying 30 k for the next attempt is tough job for my family. I really want to know is there any other course where somebody is failed or treated guilty only on the basis that he/she scores high percentage.
I am very confident that I have the required skills and still sure that I will crack the any test but I am lacking trust.
I still want SAP to take all the conditions under consideration and release our certificate as I really deserve it because i have worked hard for it. I have received an offer letter for SAP ABAP Consultant post in one of esteemed company in India and this proves that definitely I have the required skills to work on a live system.
Providing us the certificate which we already deserve for our 1st attempt will definitely release pressure on our minds.
    Regards,
    Akshay.

  • Need clarification on SAP NetWeaver Certification

I am having six months experience in SAP. Now I have planned to take NetWeaver certification. I know the following ways.
    1) Attend an Instructor-led ABAP Certification Academy(25 working days, 8hrs/day, 5 days/week, approx Rs.3 Lakh) at an SAP Education Center or Partner such as Siemens, Genovate etc.
    2) Attend an e-learning course at an SAP Online Contact Center(flexible times, no instructor, approx Rs.1,25,000)
    3) Get your company to endorse your ABAP Experience and sponsor your certification(approx Rs.28000, exam only, no materials, no training!)
    4) Register for SAP TechEd and hope they offer a complimentary certification like they do every year(3 days, lots of fun, should be around Rs.15000, no training, a few materials)
But I heard that there is one more way of doing that, without affording such a big amount and having less experience. Is that true? Can anyone help me out?
    regards
    prabhu

    Hi Ravi
Suppose a note X says corrections are delivered in the attached correction instruction, then its enough if we implement that specific note X.
=>Before implementing those correction verify whether that X note applicable to your system release. Also verify is any manual code correction instructed in that note.
If we go to correction instruction then it may have several other notes, do we need to implement all those notes specified in correction instruction 1st and then implement main note or directly we can apply Main note X.
=> Before implementing those correction verify whether that X note applicable to your system release or its already implemented in your system. All these Prerequisites need to implement before final correction.
If we apply main note obvisoulsy all the notes within correction instructions will be implemented.
=> No we need to implement Prerequisites notes before main notes.
    Thank

    Hi Ashish,
There are several options for you. With the process list that is part of the Process Desk, you can display all running, completed, and canceled processes that are relevant for you.  [Displaying Processes in the Process List|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/d1/6d5ee426da4a84951c5acad77a1911/content.htm ]
In addition, with SAP NetWeaver Administrator, if you have administrative rights to a process you can find out if the process completed successfully or not, who executed tasks in the process, what is the data in the process context, etc.  [Managing Processes and Tasks with SAP NetWeaver Administrator|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/58/c325d5323b447ebb9d020c7fbaa5be/content.htm]
Currently there is not a public API for accessing the native process metadata, but this will come with wave 2.  However, if you have important process metrics that you would like to track today, you can always add an automated activity to your process model that posts process data to a web service.
    Kind regards,
    Michael
