5th gen I-Pod nano turned black

My 5th gen I-Pod nano suddenly switched off, it has no power, won't turn back on, I can't get it even playing while on a charger or on with the computer.  What's the problem?

Have you worked through each and every suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • 5th gen i-pod wont turn off URGENT please reply, REALLY WORRIED

nothing weird happened to it, just went funny on me. will sync with computer (windows xp) however it sounds like theres some whirring noises inside it. it is playing music. I have spent a lot of time building a library through borrowing from other people and I would be devastated to lose all my music. please please help me through this SOMEONE. I am a complete dunce when it comes to computers so try to be patient.

The latest versions of itunes have not been very stable, so I would not suggest playing music while loading into itunes. If you are not very computer literate, the best way to back up your music is to buy an external drive. They are not very expensive, less than $100 for let's say 150 gigs. I have 16,000 songs in my library and still have about 50 gigs left, so you will have plenty of room for expansion, in the future. Once you do this, all you need to do is connect the drive to your computer. Open up that drive into a half window (top right hand of screen, middle button of _ ()X . Then open the place where all of your music file are, normally the C drive, my computer, my music, and drag the entire content to your external drive. You now have a copy of all of your music. If you do not go this route, it means making a cd copy of all of your music, which you will have to re-load if you lose all of your file (as when a computer crashes). This involves doing everything again. If you have all of your files in an external drive, all you have to do is ask itunes to organize all of your music (in preferences), and the work is all done for you. Depending on which way you go, I am sure that once you do this, it you can ask, and someone will provide a step by step process, or you can ask me when you get to that point.

My iPod 5th gen will not completely turn on it shows the apple symbol then shuts off I have restarted it and tried to plug it into my computer but cannot find it to restart it
Its been like this for awhile and I can not fix it

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS1567 5th Gen I-Pod Touch not Syncing, does come up on PC.

My 5th Gen I-Pod Touch no longer connects to I-Tunes, or Microsoft Sync (In my 2013 Ford Focus) through a sync cable. My computer however, does see the I-pod as a external device, and it does charge through the Sync cable.
I have reset the I-Pod fully, and it still would not connect. I checked and the I-Pod and the version of I-Tunes is the newest version of each.
    I-Pod: 7.1.1 (11D201)
    I-Tunes 11.1.5.5
I ran the I-Tunes Diagnostics for the Device Connectivity test, and Device Sync test both, and received the following.
    Device Connectivity Tests
    Supprt services:
iPod support service is running. (Green Dot)
iTunes Helper is running. (Green Dot)
Apple Mobile Device is running. (Green Dot)

    USB ports verified. (Green Dot)
No FireWire (IEEE 1334) ports found (Green Dot)
No iPod, iPhone, or iPad found. (Red Dot)

I have tried two Sync cables in both my car and Itunes, with the same results.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If the unit has NEVER been jailbroke, first try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...  Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • My iPod 5th gen touch won't turn on after running out of battery and then being charged for several hours

I was using my ipod touch 5th gen, when it ran out of battery. I wasn't able to charge it all night because the lighting adapter plug broke, and so this battery sign and the lighting charger sign kept popping up telling me to charge it. It ran like that all night and when I woke up it wouldn't turn on at all. I tried plugging it into a few different computers to charge it, and after several hours it still won't turn on. I tried plugging it into my computer with iTunes up, but it still would not charge and my computer would not recognize that it was there. Anyone want to give me some tips?
    Thanks

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen Overheating and Wont Turn On

I got my new iPod Touch 5th gen today from best buy. I turned it on, got it all set up, then left it charging for about 30-40 minutes. While I was looking through the features I felt it getting warmer and warmer. Eventually the touchscreen would stop responding for a minute and sometimes shut off. Now whenever I turn it on, it shows the apple logo and then shuts off completely. And when I put it on the charger, it just flashes the apple logo(I presume this is from the charger trying to turn it on, and the ipod turning itself off automatically).
I really want this to be fixed soon because I would like to use this over some long airplane trips i have.

Please help. I cant do anythin!

  • 5th Gen. IPod Nano connected but not plugged in

My 5th generation iPod nano says it is connected even though it is not plugged in. When I do plug it in, it will not show up in my computer or sync into iTunes. Is their any way for me to reset the iPod or fix it?

  • My iPod Touch 4th Gen Camera's screen turns black and nothing is visible, but on FaceTime, camera does work.Help?

When I open up the camera app on iPod Touch 4th Gen, the screen stays black and you are not able to take a picture/video. On the other hand when i'm FaceTiming someone, the front and back camera works fine. I went to the genius bar at the apple store and they restored my iPod and the camera was still not working but FaceTime still is working fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this might be happening or how I could get my iPod working like normal?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Slow Movie Conversion  5th Gen I-POD

Up to now, the movie conversion rate on my I-POD was rather quick. 3-4 minutes for a 25 meg Quicktime movie approximately. Now it takes a better part of a day to convert one, I get so disgusted I usually stop it before it gets halfway done. My music conversions are still as quick as ever (15-20 secs per song). Any ideas? This happened it seemed overnite. I have about 6 meg of music/movies on my 30meg pod. Thanks for any advice.

My view of this is that the conversion takes place on the computer, before it is sync'd to the iPod. It may be a problem on your PC. How much disc space do you have on your computer? If you are low, or there are a number of other programs running at the time, it would affect the processor coverting the movie.

  • My ipod 5th gen wont charge or turn on when plugged into the wall or on my docking station

I have had my iPod for around a year now and it has been perfectly fine........until now. I came home from work to find my iPod was turned off, I assumed that it had just run out of charge. I plugged it in to charge using the power adapter and nothing happens when I put it to charge on my docking station?
Can anyone help? Or does it look like a new iPod is on the cards?
    Thanks
