5th gen ipod nano not recognized by itunes

I plugged in my 5th gen nano and itunes told me that it could not recognize it and I had to factory reset it. I factory reset it and now it won't connect to itunes. it connects to my computer and it says connected on the ipod screen, but it won't let me sync my songs to it. I have the latest version of itunes 11.0.1. I already reinstalled itunes, restarted my conputer and restarted my ipod. Is there anything else I can try?

I seen this problem a lot. Since you are a Windows user (I can make it real easy). If you don't have the side screen (left hand side)..... look at the Top Right Hand side (under the close button [red X] ).... you should see your iPod there. If it doesn't work, try to reset your entire iPod and it should connect to your iTunes......
if this doesn't help.... click on the link below.....

• 6th gen ipod nano not recognized by itunes on my PC (Windows 7). tried everything to fix, but still not working... please help

I have a 6th gen ipod nano that is not recognized by itunes on my PC (Windows 7). I get an error that it 'could not be identified properly'. I have tried all tips on the apple site to correct the problem, including unistalling and reinstalling itunes twice. Nothing works. Has anyone tried something that worked that is not part of the Apple support page (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3218)? Thank you in advance for any help!

I have followed every troubleshooting page on the apple support site yet my ipod nano 6th gen is not recognized by itunes
I have spent 3 days messing with my pc and have made no real progress.
Then it's time to call Apple tech support while you are still under warranty. Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase. If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

reinstalled my windows operating system and decided to put on windows 8. After loading all of my music back into a freshly installed itunes, my 4th gen ipod is not recognized by itunes. My 1st gen ipod nano works with no problem. I can eliminate any problems with the cable and connection.
I've stopped and started the service, and also have performed cold reboots.
Nothing seems to have helped the situation.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

• Can the new 5th gen ipod nanos be used with iTunes 8?

I have just installed iTunes 9 today and am DISGUSTED with version 9
already. I have a new 5th gen ipod nano on order and would like to go back to
iTunes 8 ... will the new 5th generation be usable in iTunes 8?
With iTunes 9 being such a launch and introduction disaster ... I may sell my new
iPod because it looks like it will only work with iTunes 9. If that's the case I am selling my
new iPod and picking up a 4th generation ipod on eBay.
It looks to a lot of Mac users, like Apple really screwed up iTunes 9 ... and as a result,
may turn many new prospective iPod Nano and iTouch owners off from purchasing any
of the newer iPods until Apple redesigns or seriously modifies iTunes 9.

So are you just going to keep posting this in every incorrect forum?

What exactly are you finding so disgusting in iTunes 9? I have yet to find anything repugnant.
If you want to keep iTunes 8 I would suggest you buy a refurbished 4th Generation from the online iTunes Store and cancel your order for the 5th Generation.

• 5th gen iPod Classic not recognized

Hi, I have a 5th gen iPod classic 30GB that my friend gave to me a few months ago. It was recognized on my computer and itunes at the start and I was able to sync and perform all the needed tasks. I recently had to reformat my computer and now the ipod isn't recognized by USB, or in itunes. The Device manager for Windows XP SP3 says "Unknown Device" and that the drivers for the device are missing. I've tried installing older itunes verions, searching for drivers myself, used 3 different Apple USB cables, restarting the ipod with the center + menu buttons, and checked the format (windows). I also have a 2nd gen ipod nano which is recognized with no trouble. All the tests on the classic, with the exception of firewire, passed and the hard drive works fine. The classic also isn't recognized on 2 other Windows 7 computers. If I try to put the ipod in disk mode, it just says "ok to disconnect" without giving me any other options. Also, the ipod charges on both wall USB and the computers USB. I have also tried all 6 USB ports. I've searched the web for days and have tried everything I could find to fix this, to no avail though. If anyone knows anything and can help, please post whatever you think will work. Thank you!

When you plug in the iPod does it even appear in Device Manager? See this article for more details.

Otherwise, I have a feeling that the USB ports on the Netbook don't output enough power to allow the iPod to fully communiate properly with the Windows Vista O/S.

• Problem with 3rd Gen Ipod Nano being recognized by Itunes

I have a third generation Ipod Nano that was only used once. It takes a full charge and appears to be working fine. Problem is when I plug it into a computer it is not recognized by Itunes. The computer recognizes it but not Itunes. I have tried it on several computers and same situation. I have tried other Ipods and they are recognized by Itunes. I have reset it and reloaded Itunes with no change. Any suggestions?

If none of the solutions found in the PDF user manual and from DIY websites like iFixit and YouTube's How To tutorials work then it's time to take your iPod Nano to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

• Why is my iPod Nano not recognized in iTunes but charges?

I have a Mac Book Pro and an original iPod Nano. I have old music on my Nano that I want to put on my comp, I have a program for that. But the thing is that even though when I plug in my Nano, it lights up and charges but it isn't recognized in iTunes. How can I fix this? Oh and my screen is broken so I can't reset anything from my iPod itself without like step by step direction because the click sound still works and I guess I can figure out what to do if you say like one click down or 2 clicks down... THANKS!!

Otherwise, take the computer & iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

• IPod Nano not recognized in iTunes but as hd in windows

So after running all the so called fixes on this article:
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
We are still not able to get this thing recognized by iTunes. My wife's 4g mini works fine, as well as my 80g 5g. I'm just thinking that this is a hardware issue. My buddy at an unnamed large chain retailer has had 12 of the 2nd gen Nanos come back to his store in the last week for the same issue Will not sync up in windows). Apple needs to get on the ball and get this fixed. My wife is ready to return it and wait for the Zune to come out, but i convinced her to wait to see what we get here.

just turn on terminal services like in:

• IPod nano not recognized by iTunes, why & can it be fixed?

I registered my iPod Nano 3rd Gen when I created my iTunes account. Now that I have iPhone 4 as a device, iTunes no longer recognizes my iPod. I've tried most of the many user-unfriendly steps on Apple Support, to no avail. I want my iPod back & I'd live to know why it's "not registered", or I should say no longer registered.
