5th Gen iPod, seen by Windoze, not by iTunes

I've been too busy lately to hang out keep up with the iTunes 7 issues, but I still have to stop the iPod service, attach my iPod, start iTunes/start the service every time I want to sync. Is there any hope that this is a temporary condition or is this just how it's gonna be from now on? iTunes 7, 5th Gen iPod w/1.2 software, XP Pro SP2.

I have a 5th gen iPod. When last connecting to iTunes, videos and movies disappeared. Purchased a new movie that iTunes says was compatible with 5th gen, movie won't transfer to iPod. My settings state that I will manually manage videos and music. Performed all 5 "R"s and iPod still won't accept movies "...can't be played on this iPod"

iDevices do not get authorized, computers do.

5th Gen iPod freezes on "Do Not Disconnect" screen when connected to Mac

My iPod freezes on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen (partially backlit) when I plug it into my computer. I have a G4 eMac with standard USB connections. The ipod firmware is up to date.
This freeze doesn't occur ALL the time....just occasionally. The iPod does not appear on my desktop or in iTunes when this happens. I have to wait until the iPod discharges its battery completely before I can use it again (this sometimes takes a couple of days!).
Does anyone have any ideas? Or is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks for the replies.........I can't seem to find a solution to this....its annoying to say the least. Its just happened again this morning, though it's successfully sync'd on the last few occasions....it seems to be quite random.
One thing I've noticed is that it synced OK when iTunes wasn't open when I plugged it in. It appeared on the desktop, then I opened iTunes. This morning though it froze when iTunes was already open, so there may be an issue with iTunes (I updated this weekend to see if it was any different with the new version). I guess this will happen if you've got the ipod set to open iTunes automatically when connected too.
So, no solutions as yet.......I'm gonna get onto Apple to see if they have any answers. I'll get back to you all on this one.
PS: why no firewire capabilities on the new ipods?

My 5th Gen iPod Nano won't connect to itunes or computer, just keeps resetting. Reinstalled itunes to no avail, other ipods connect fine...help please

I re-installed i-tunes but this didn't solve the issue. Other iPods including additional 5th generation nanos connect and sync just fine. When it's plugged into the computer, it says "Connected...Eject before disconnecting" but doesn't show in itunes or the computer, then the ipod resets and the cycle begins again. It plays music just fine. It also plays fine when directly connected by USB to a Toyota Avalon. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Thanks!

Ipod seen in profiler, not in itunes

I recently used my ipod as a backup harddisk, this involved erasing the whole ipod hd. The backup worked ok; then I restored the ipod software and loaded my music on it. It froze, after some erratic behaviour (split screens, and quickly jumping from song to song, etc.). I reset it by pressing menu and play; still frozen. Now it won't show in itunes, and won't show as a disk on the desktop, (but it does show as a firewire device in system profiler ! so the ipod exists, and the fw cable must be ok). I can sort of reste the ipod by pressing menu and play, as prposed by apple; than everything on the pod works, but connecting it to the computer freezes the wheel (and later the buttons). The ipod disk checkup says it is fine. I tried to use ipod updater, but the buttons on the dialog window are grayed. All actions Apple proposes and all actions I can think of require that my Ipod appear in itunes. It is irritating that Apple keeps adressing the 'not appearing in itunes' issue by proposing things that rely solely on its appearing in itunes:
“If you reformatted the hard disk on your iPod, or if something has damaged or altered the disk's format, iTunes or the Finder may not recognize iPod. To resolve this issue, restore iPod.” (from the Apple website). Boy, would I love to.
After clicking the ling to restore I get this:
“How to restore iPod
1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
3. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.”
So fas so good.
“4. After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.”
But it doesn’t.
And it doesn’t appear in disk utility either.
Any clues and/or solutions would be very welcome.
I use an old clickwheel ipod (which has been working fine for years) and a quicksilver 876 G4.

5th Gen iPod won't sync using new iTunes and new Firmware

I updated the iTunes software and firmware for my iPod, and I was excited about how cool it looked. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. It synchronized once. Since then, it hasn't worked. iTunes just freezes up and the "Do Not Disconnect Screen" never goes away. It will just sit there for hours doing nothing and telling me that it is updating, when it fact it is doing nothing. I have even gone through all of the steps of reseting, re-installing, and reformatting it. It still won't sync, but now I have the pleasure of having a 6-month old 60 gig blank hard drive. Has anyone else experienced syncing problems? Any ideas on how I can get this to work again?

I am having the same problem. The difference is that mine was syncing and then suddenly it won't sync anymore. Hope someone answers your question.

IPod seen by windows, not by iTunes+ weird error message

I have a first generation 2GB iPod nano and i use windows xp. I can't load any music because iTunes doesn't see my iPod and an error message pops up that reads like this: "iTunes: iTunes.exe corrupt file. The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes is corrupt and unredable. Please run the checkdisk utility." I've tried everything, reinstalling iTunes, different versions, reinstalling OS, resetting iPod, even on another computer, same problem. Other than that, the iPod works normally, it's just lacking music..

5th gen ipod is connected and seen on itunes yet will not sync

My 5th gen ipod-nano is connected - visual and accessible on new version of itunes (using PC, running Win 7) yet will not sync. This only started happening after the last update from apple and I have spent HOURS trying to figure out how to fix including removing all apple apps and software and reinstalling 6 times now!!! Even when a diagnoses is run it shows my ipod is connected yet when I try to sync.. it tells me that disk is not found?

Well, nothing has worked yet. Same Itunes account. When I try to download from the App Store app on the touch, I downloads all the way to the end of the loading... installing phases. then says, "Unable to Downlad Application: app will be available for download when you log in to the Itunes Store on your computer."
But Itunes on the computer will do the same thing... load it all the way up, then give an error code of OxE8003FFE.
I tried restoring the Ipod, so now it only has the factory apps, music, videos, and no apps. And I can't add even one app.

5th gen. ipod not recognized by Mac

My 5th generation 30 gb ipod is no longer recognized by my Mac running 10.3.9 and iTunes 7. I've tried all of the standard troubleshooting except for restore since it can't be recognized to be restored. When it's plugged into the computer, it's charging with an animated icon but the ipod never shows up on the desktop or in iTunes. Help!

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.

5th Gen iPod Touch w. iOS 7 not recognized by iTunes 11.1

On Wednesday I updated my 5th gen iPod Touch to iOS 7, and ran the latest iTunes 11.1 update on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5.
For two days, everything worked fine, but today, when I plug in my fully charged iPod it is not recognized by iTunes.
Some salient facts:
     1. My iPod shuffle is recognized by iTunes without problem when I plug it in to any USB port on my Mac.
     2. I tried all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions - restarted iPod and computer, tried connecting to different USB ports on my Mac.
     3. My iPod touch will still charge when plugged in to my Mac.

It didn't occur to me to suspect that my still-new, Apple-brand cable went bad the same week Apple released two major software updates.
