5th time in less than 6 months

Dear Blackberry Support Team,
I'm so sad to send this massage after 10 years of loyalty to Black berry smart phone as I bought my 1st blackberry device on 2005 it was the bb curve and then I bought another one for my wife at 2006, then she switched to bb curve 9360 and I bought the bold 9900 at 2012 and I continued to use it for 2 years despite facing delays in updates and models compared to Samsung and iPhone so I started to search for another BB that fulfils my needs so I got Z 10 on May 2014 which is now at the maintenance center for the 5th time.
Now I've decided to switch into another brand and leave Blackberry for good.
And before taking that decision I would like to clarify my reasons for that:
The lack of a real maintenance center here at Egypt
All the bb devices that I used I changed their batteries after less than a year because it heats up the device and affect the applications
And finally my struggle with the Z 10 smart phone which I bought in May 2014 as mentioned before and it went to the maintenance center after just one month of using it and it remained there for 25 days then they told me that they don’t fix BB mobiles and they are going to give me a brand new one instead which was fine by me and I thought my problems have ended … I continued using it for another month and again the same defect appeared again and I had to go to the maintenance center and the same thing was repeated and I received another brand now one after 20 to 25 days … this scenario kept repeating now for the 5th time, I receive a new device , use it for about a month then the same factory defect appears
My question here … is that normal??? To use a device for a month or two and instead of fixing the problem they switch it with another one!!??
I was an old and loyal customer to you but now unfortunately I will not be that customer any more.

I've read posts like yours, so you are not alone. I don't think it is typical, but I don't know the statistics. All I can tell you is I used the Z10 from the day T-Mobile started selling it, and now my wife is using it. My only complaint is battery life at best is not great for a BlackBerry, but everything works on it.

  • 2nd time in less than 6 months backlight of Ideatab Lynx stopped working

Just like the subject says, I've only had this device for less than 6 months and the backlight on the unit has once again stopped functioning. I really can't recommend this product as it has been nothing but a hassle having to get it serviced for a second time already. Aside from not being able to use it for a few weeks while it gets serviced, I have to pay for shipping to send it to the service centre. Somebody from Lenovo needs to suggest a better solution for me as I can't rely on this unit any longer. In comparison, I've had a Blackberry Playbook that's been through way more than this Lynx tablet and it's been over 3 years without a problem and Lenovo is supposed to be the better brand? hmm...

Unfortunately, the same happened to me for a second time with my Lynx. The first time Lenovo only re-intalled the software. I don't know how this "repaired" the LCD screen, but less than 3 weeks later, it broke down again. They only offer 1 month time to return it, so I'm stuck with it. At lease the warranty covers this.

  • Why does time machine go back less than a month?

    clearly, i'm doing something wrong...
i'm in the process of cleaning up stuff from my external drives.  sometime in the fall, i switched my time machine backup to a larger drive.  i did my best to follow the instructions for transferring over a time machine backup, and it didn't work.  i still have the old TM database, but time machine wouldn't recognize it.  so i lived with it and got on with my life, starting a new TM backup.
today, i just realized that it goes back less than a month.  what is THAT about?  before you ask, it's NOT a disk space issue.  on a 2 TB drive, i currently have 1.23 TB of available space.  there's plenty of ROOM for further backups, but it's just not keeping them.  please help... i love time machine, and it's saved my bacon on a number of different occasions.  but on many of those occasions, i had to go back quite a bit further than 3 weeks to restore what i needed.  if that's all i'm going to get from time machine, it's usefulness to me is slashed by about 80%.

Time Machine automatically deletes older snapshots to make room for new ones. If your backup history is shorter than you expect, it may be because you're backing up one or more large files frequently.
Virtualization software such as VMware, Parallels, or VirtualBox creates a large virtual-disk container that is constantly changing, so it has to be backed up every time Time Machine runs. That will quickly fill up any backup destination.
You should exclude the virtual-disk file(s) from your Time Machine backups. To do that, click the Options button in the  Time Machine preference pane. You may also be able to do it in the virtualization app's settings. Back up the files on the virtual disk from within the guest system, using a native backup application.
A compromise solution is to create a "snapshot" of the virtual machine in the virtualization software (not a Time Machine snapshot.) That will give you a single large file that never changes and only has to be backed up once. All the subsequent changes will be stored in a new file that's initially much smaller, but will grow over time. You should still exclude that file from TM backup. If you ever need to restore the VM from Time Machine, you'll have a working setup, which will make it easy for you to restore the rest of the data from within the guest system.
Another common cause of large TM snapshots is native OS X disk images. If you store a lot of data on one or more writable disk images, they should be in "sparsebundle" format, which will be backed up much more efficiently than any other format. A sparsebundle will not be backed up at all while the image is mounted. Make sure you unmount the image often so it can be backed up. Consider eliminating large read/write disk images from your workflow, if possible.

  • My 27" iMAC is less than 3 month old. Many times regardless of what application I am in the screen will start shifting  back and forth left to right. Then I can't do anything until the screen stabilizes. This takes anywhere from 5 to 25 secs. Any ideas?

why don't you take advantage of the free 90 days of AppleCare and utilize the free, professional telephone support from Apple instead of asking in the forums?

  • Less than a month and its already broken

    Dear BT and Forum users,
I am not very happy with my BB service right now and have come on here in the hope that I might get more that platitudes and fob offs.
So...  a few weeks ago my husband finally gave into the sales calls and agreed to have Infinity installed. Our reason - not so much faster internet but in the hope we might get a consistant service. The service we had before that was tempermental at best and we were sick of having to reset the router every other day.  (in hindsight we should have just gone with an alternative ISP).
It was installed a couple of weeks ago and worked well until last Wednesday, since then the service has been a comedy of errors.  To start with my husband confirmed from the outset that they problem was not coming from inside the house but the customer service operator insisted on booking an engineer.
We agreed to the Friday morning appointment. I booked the morning off work (using annual leave) and the engineer didn't show up. My husband called at 12.30 (they won't take calls from me as I'm not on the bill) and he was assured the appointment was booked in. Shortly after 1 I took a call at the home to say the "system" had lost the booking and the engineer wouldn't be coming.
I said I was in all day, he could come now but that was clearly off script and the call centre operative wouldn't enterntain the idea (annoyingly there were 2 BT vans in my neighbourhood that afternoon). Instead they wanted me to rebook another 4 hour appointment. I couldn't stop in Saturday and wasn't going to lose more leave. I said I would discuss the options with my husband.
What followed that afternoon was a series of coversations with them, some with me at home and some with my husband at work offering the same options and us giving the same response. I don't know if the operatives weren't talking to each other or didn't understand but it was really irritating. In the end they said they would call my husband at 4pm. They called some time after 5 and said the would try the exchange first and call us Monday morning if they needed to access the property.
Saturday 8.30 the engineer called to say they were on their way, we had the time so we waited. He arrived and was in the house all of 15 minutes before confirming the problem was in the exchange (all that time wasted for that!). We got a call Sunday to say they needed a new part at the exchange then today my husband got an undecipherable voicemail and a text saying the service will be fixed in the next 72 hours. He has spoken to them this evening and we're still non-the-wiser as now there's a fault further up the line.
Whilst all this is going on we have tried to find out if they expect us to pay for the Infinity and BT Vision whilst the services are not working. All they will say is they won't look at refunding losses until the issue is fixed. I realise they can't give us a total but it was a pretty straight forward question - am I paying for this non-service. One operator has said I can have £10 to cover the missed appointment (I value my time and annual leave a little higher).
In all honestly the loss of internet and BT vision is frustrating but what has really dissapointed me is the lack of customer service. No one in the call centres seem to have a clue what's going on (we've had so many versions of what's wrong) and are too tied to a script. There's no sense of inconvenience - I'm supposed to be ready and waiting for 4 hours at a time but they will fix it sometime in the next 3 day.
Right now I'm not even sure its worth waiting to get this fixed.
I'd love for someone to come on here and fix this for me but I'd settle for a little peer support/shared experience.
    Thanks
    L

OK, so I was being a little optimisitic. We're back online (yay!) but now the bill is just more of the same. Apparently we have to wait 48 hours before they will tell us how they are adjusting the bill  I understand that they cannot confirm the problem si fixed yet because of some internal policy but they won't even tell us how much they would calculate as of now - a pretty straight forward question.
So with that, we threw in the towel... said if they can't asnwer a simple question we were off. Of course when I told then operator this he said he's put me straight through to his boss and then left me on hold for over 20 minutes before I gave up!
Called back to leaver dept. to be told we have to pay £200 to cancel (funny they could give us that figure pretty easily). I don't know what was said when he signed up but I am going to be investigating this further. We've had the service less than a month and its been broken a week.

  • Macbook (mid 2012, 9,2) has very poor performance since the day I bought it (less than 2 months ago)

    Problem description:
My macbook is extremely slow since the day I bought it (which was less than 2 months ago)…Came preinstalled with Mavericks and 4GB of RAM. Upgraded it to 16GB hoping that would help, but that did very little…then upgraded to Yosemite. That just made it worse. Formatted the whole thing and installed clean Yosemite. Still, every time I right click, I get the rainbow loading icon and it hangs. Every time I open any file, or click any app, it hangs for a few seconds, again with a loading icon. Every time I play a song on iTunes or even VLC for that matter, it stops multiple times, every few seconds. Feels like it’s “buffering” while I’m playing a song off my hard drive. It’s been bothering me for too long now…Any idea what the issue is exactly?

  • Can't upgrade with less than a month on contract left....don't want "The Edge" program either

My husband and I are both due for upgrades May 14, 2014 (less than a month away)- we were refused a new 2 year contract with the purchase of 2 Samsung S5 phones yesterday in store and told to call customer service and they would adjust our update date.  After 45 minutes on the phone with them, mostly on hold waiting to speak with a supervisor because their cs rep was rude, we were told they would approve an early upgrade for any phone EXCEPT the one we want.  They would rather makes us wait to upgrade 30 days, with my husbands phone not holding a charge, and allow us time to decide which provider we want to move to than sign us to two new two year contracts.  Is this how loyal customers are treated?

CAUTION: If u currently have an UNLIMITED DATA PLAN... then, u do NOT  want to use your upgrade, because u loose it, after the upgrade!!! ... I still have the old UNLIMITED DATA PLAN, because, they told me, I'd loose it, if I upgraded... only way to keep your unlimited data plan, is to get a phone from online... Amazon, ebay, or pay full price for a phone, which stinks, but it's better then loosing unlimited data!

  • My less than 5 month old imac 21.5 desktop is causing me some concern,it is slow to start, problems with bluetooth.problems with wi fi.whe its turned off i notice a graying in the four corners of the screen, this is i think the effects of overheating.

my imac is less than 5 months. old tommorow it goes to murcia for ¿repair?.a 25.1 1mac desktop is a formidable piece of workmanship but thatdoes not stop anything going wrong,as ive found out.in the last month it has begun to heat rapidly thus i think causing a graying in the 4 corners of the screen, this is ugly.as i keep my mac in pertfect grace ie free of dust and prints, also it freezes frequently and downright frustrating.has anyone else had similar problems.on a footnote i beleive apple care will come thru shining, but an answer to my question, wich is why in only 5 months has my imac gone wrong.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your Mac, but just like pretty much everything else, things can go wrong.
The key is what Apple will do about it now that it has gone wrong. Because you are under warranty, contact AppleCare and explain the issues you are experiencing. There is a chance that your iMac may have to be sent in for repair.
My iMac has had issues since first bought in late 2009, in one form or another and has been repaired three times. AppleCare are going to replace the item sometime in the future, I have no idea when, but I have been without a working Mac for over three weeks now, actually it might be over four weeks.
As you said, AppleCare will sort the problem out for you, let's hope it's not a lengthy repair and they get you up and running quickly.

  • My buttons won't work!!!! I've only had my nano for less than 3 months!!

I've had my Nano ipod for less than 3 months. Today at work while I was listening to it, I accidentally spilt water on the table that the ipod was sitting on. My Nano ipod has a plastic case for protection and I leave it on at all times. A little bit of water may have penetrated the Ipod. But I wiped it dry straight away.
I have tried EVERYTHING prescribed on this website. The backlight comes on everytime I shift the hold button from left to right. The PROBLEM is with the main buttons. I have charged it for several hours. I'm stuck on the main menu. I cannot get the buttons to work at all.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to rectify this problem? I don't want to send it to the service centre until I am 100% sure that there's nothing that I can do to fix it.
The other thing, my friend bought my nano in New York city and brought it back for me in Sydney Australia. Do you think I'm going to have any problems getting it fixed here?
    Thanks a million!!

I was listening to my iPod with a friend of mine. We were listening to a Maroon 5 song, and we wanted to change it, so I hit menu. It freezes up. Mine occasionally freezes every now and again, so I tried to reset it. It does it, but the main buttons don't work. I can reset it, but that's about it, and the hold works. I tried restoring it, and I don't know what to do now. I had brought it to the beach, but I kept it in a beach bag and its case the whole time. It did work before, then it just froze.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've had it since January and don't want it to be dead yet..

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • OS X Yosemite made my Mac Book Pro really slow. Please Help. I've had this Mac for less than 6 months and worked fantastic until now.

I've had this Mac for less than 6 months and worked fantastic until now. I'm not 100% familiar with Mac so any help would be helpful. Thanks!

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The better your description, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What other changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.

  • My iPhone just goes dead. It's not low on battery and this is the second one I have had do it. I have a 4s less than 4 months old. Anyone else?

This is the second iphonev4s I have had to just turn off and can't get it to cone back on. I charge them to make sure it's not battery but they still won't come on. The first one did it within 30 days so they replaced it. My current one I have had less than 4 months. Anyone else?

Unless you have another USB cable, and if that fails another computer to test the connection with, then I'd suggest you take the phone into an Apple store.

Seagate FreeAgent Go is making a clicking sound and the light is rapidly blinking. My Macbook is no longer recognizing it. Is there any way to pull all the songs I have saved on it? The SeaAgent is less than a month old!
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Or at least recover the lost data?
    Thanks!

How to fix: the drive is in warranty, so contact Seagate for a replacement.
How to recover your data: Do you have backups? (If not, you really, really, should.)
You can try downloading Data Rescue, which will run in trial mode and let you know if the data is recoverable. (You can then choose to purchase the full version if it works for you.) A clicking drive, though, is usually (though not always) a sign that the drive cannot be recovered.

  • How can I get my stereo to play music videos from my Ipod Nano?  It comes up with the message "This device not supported".  Strangely my Iphone IS recognised.  The stereo, Ipod, and Iphone are less than 4 months old. Any suggestions welcome!

Check with the theater system vendor and see if their system is compatible with the Nano. The resolution on the Nano may be too low for the system.
