6.0.8.13 Patch 4 on RedHat 7.1

Hi,
Have you had an idea where can i download from the patch 4 for Dev2000(forms/reports 6i) for RedHat 7.1.. as it is the only certified product?
As regards the Dev2000 forms/reports 6i .. there is only one available
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/forms/htdocs/linuxsoft.html
Thanks....
Sim

Sim, the link you gave above looks like the web server part of Forms 6i. 6i was the first version to come out with a web forms version. Is there a Forms Developer contained within that release?
If you follow the search method in Re: Forms 6i installed and running on Windows Vista, you can see all the patches for Forms 6i (be sure to search first with "Platform or Language" set to "Microsoft Windows (32-bit)".
That search shows all the patches from 3A through 18. There is no Patch 4 -- it is Patch 4A, with number = 1747364
On that page, when I click the options under "Platform or Language", I see five platforms:
Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
AIX Based Systems (32-bit)
Solaris Operating System (SPARC 32-bit)
HP-UX PA-RISC (32-bit)
HP Tru64 UNIX
It doesn't look like there is a Red Hat available.

According to ORACLE representatives, OAS 4.0.8 isn't their major priority : since Oracle iAS will be available in few days, and many less CPY and memory hungry as OAS, can't you wait a bit longer ?
An other point is that oas 4.0.8.2 will probably be one on their last release of this product ...
Take a look at the oracle iAS white paper, the product will be more reliable and standard : essentialy based on Apache 1.3.12, mod_java, mod_pl and JServ 1.1, and Oracle 8i Cache...

  • How to install patchs in linux

    Hi Friends,
I am new person. How do I install oracle patchs in linux redhat 5.0 system?
Plz show me some steps in detail.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Jim
    Sorry for the late answer.
What patches are we taking about?
Oracle patches? Yes then you have to use
    0. First read the installation note given on metalink it gives your a detailled description what shall be done.
In metalink go to Patches & updates
make a simple search on your patch and read the read me file
Please control also that the file downloaded is consitent by controlling the value of the "patch digest"
    for example :
    File      Digests
    p7369190_10203_Linux-x86-64.zip
    SHA-1      295AF3B7585BB00093CF7DB25A314E750B3A76AE
    MD5      7D1C9C9B36D646E557DE250458067B1B
    i.e.
to list all the installed patches :
    $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory
    unzip p7369190_10203_<platform>.zip
    cd 7369190
    opatch napply -skip_subset -skip_duplicate
And if the patch is changing something in the datadictionary :
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/cpu/CPUOct2008
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
    SQL> STARTUP
    SQL> @catcpu.sql
    SQL> QUIT
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
    SQL> @utlrp.sql
You can check for any invalid objects by executing following statement:
    SQL> SELECT OBJECT_NAME FROM DBA_OBJECTS WHERE STATUS= 'INVALID';
    Voilà !
    more question please ask!

  • Bootsplash : Applying splash on a patched kernel makes a Kernel Panic

    Hi Archers,
I tried to put a bootsplash and for that I first pached the kernel with the PKGBUILD from ABS using this HOW-TO :
    http://archlinux.veloxis.de/howtos/boot … to_us.html
The patched kernel works very well.
Then I wanted to add a splash using the splash utility, following this HOW-TO :
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bootsplash
Then I edited the grub and rebooted.
All I can see is a kernel panic, telling me this :
RAMDISK : Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0
    List of all partitions :
No file system could mount root, tried :
Kernel Panic - VFS : Unable to mount root fs on unknown block (0,0)
This is quite weird since some lines above I can see that the RAMDISK has been initialized :
RAMDISK driver initialized: 16 RAM disks of 16384K size 1024 blocksize
Does anynone have an idea of what could be the cause of the problem ?
    Thanks
    ++++++++++++

I think I've found what is the cause of the problem but this is quite weird.
To activate bootsplash, the bootsplash option have to be activated in the kernel configuration file (config) :
    CONFIG_FBCON_SPLASHSCREEN=y
So I added this option at the end of the config file. The other required options were already activated by default.
After having installed the new kernel thanks to the pacman -U command, I can see in the config file, which has been automatically generated during the compilation (/boot/kconfig26), that the bootsplash option is no more activated ! The entire line has been erased.
How can an option be erased during the compilation ? Where could I find what caused this problem ? Here is my PKGBUILD, which I think is correct : (I have deactivated the Arch logo)

I'm a newbie in the kernel world so I'm a little bit lost in all theses files and options.

  • Dmraid with raid5 on 2.6.24

    Hi there,
I have a raid 5 array on a rocket raid 2600, I also have ICh9 so I can run dmraid. Im really not fussed about performance too much so Im happy to run fake raid.
I have found the rocket raid drivers under linux to be pretty unreliable (they just released a new version that also give me nothing but trouble, it does not work on 2.6.24 even though it says it does)
So Im kind of happy to move away from rocket raid. Anyway for the question, has anyone had success with dmraid and raid 5 under 2.6.24? Last time I tried I got a complaint about a missing raid45 function in the kernel or something (it has been renamed to raid456)
    Thanks
    Sam

Looks like there is a kernel patch, http://people.redhat.com/~heinzm/sw/dm/dm-raid45/
I'll try it out and see how i go

Here is the error message :
    [10/Dec/2008:17:35:24 +0100] - ERROR<12289> - Connection - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - PR_Accept() failed, error -5971 (Process open FD table is full.)
    [10/Dec/2008:17:35:24 +0100] - ERROR<12289> - Connection - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - PR_Accept() failed, error -5971 (Process open FD table is full.)
    [10/Dec/2008:17:35:24 +0100] - ERROR<12289> - Connection - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - PR_Accept() failed, error -5971 (Process open FD table is full.)
    Parameter from the dse.ldif :
    nsslapd-maxdescriptors: 1024
    System parameter :
    ulimit -a | grep open
    open files (-n) 65536
Common error rfering to sun's documentation :
12289: PR_Accept() failed error variable (variable)
    Cause:
The problem depends on the variable and is based on the Netscape Portable Runtime (NSPR) error layer.
    Solution:
If you determine that the cause of the problem is that the TCP port to which you are attempting to bind is already in use, consider the following actions.
    * Restart the server, using a different port.
    * Stop the application bound to that port and restart the server.
But it doesn't explain my problem because the port (389) is not in use. The problem is due to the number of open file...
What is the best practice on this parameter ? (sun directory + operating system)
The process slapd runs using another user as root
    Thanks

Well, you should monitor your number of concurrent connections to the directory and where they come from in order to determine if they're legitimate or not.
Then, among the legitimate connections, may be some of them are idle, something that you can also easily see through the console or the cn=monitor tree.
If so, consider using idle timeouts at the user or directory level.
Finally, if you really need to have a large number of simultaneous open connections, increase nsslapd-maxdescriptor to something your hardware can afford,
up to the configured system limit (a bit less actually).
Also notice you can sometimes lower the number of fd's used by the directory by adjusting (to a lower value than the default of 2 hours) the TCP time wait timeout.
It could help in the situation where you see lots of connections in this state .
    Hope this helps .

  • Csngen_adjust_time: adjustment limit exceeded

    Hello !
    sun directory server patch 6
    linux redhat 3.7
I have an error message on my master server :
    [08/Dec/2008:21:00:58 +0100] - ERROR<38994> - CSN Generation - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - Internal error csngen_adjust_time: adjustment limit exceeded; value - 39780731, limit - 86400
Master and Consumer are synchronized using ntp.
The problem is that someone has "played" a few weeks ago with the time of the server to make some tests.
I have tried to export / import the database using db2ldif/ldif2db but nothing repaired the directory.
I have deleted the changelog directory with no result too.
I have seen such a problem on this forum but nobody gave a concrete solution to it.
    Does anyone experienced that ?
    Any idea ?
    thanks
    Regards

    Hallo ,
i have the same entry in the error-log. l havr no idea to fix.
do you fix it? What do you do?

The story is like this - we got frequent spamassassin connection problems which gave "error reading status line" in mail_log. So we decided that it's time to turn on spamfilter1_optional=4, which supposedly would retry the whole thing if SA got errors.
The problem is when SA dies, we got the following reprocess error:
    17-Apr-2008 23:14:56.18 tcp_local    reprocess    E 1 [email protected] rfc822;[email protected] email@ims-ms-daemon <[email protected]> mailsrv helo

That user has email forwarding setup and if SA works both email forwarding and mail store work as expected. If the user turns off email forwarding, the relaying error is gone, but the unknown host or domain @ims-ms-daemon error still remains.
Is there anything that we need to setup the reprocess channel correctly for it to work?

  • Installation of XI 3.1

My experince has been in CE10, so this is quite a jump.
I have just installed BO XI 3.1. Everything seems to be working in the Central Management Console. However, when I want to log on to the Web Intelligence as a user I just created, I am receiving the message "License not Valid". I do not understand this as I have received valid license keys from SAP. Am I entering the correct location to schedule and view a report?

    Hi David,
If you have  installed BOXIR3.1 in linux enviornment then following information might help you to resolve the issue.
Installing Data Services XI 3.1 on Linux 64bit
    Environment:
    Data Services XI 3.1
    Any Linux 64bit supported platform
    Cause
Our license manager on Linux (which is called from the installer) requires some third-party libraries that are part of a standard 32-bit Linux install. However when you install on Linux 64-bit, only the 64-bit versions of these libraries are installed, while our license manager requires the 32-bit version. If these libraries are missing, the license manager will fail to start and unfortunately the installer will interpret this as "License code not valid".
    Resolution
To find the missing libraries, run the following command from the CD root:
    ldd setup/utilities/license/libfl_qt-mt333R2_32.so.3
If you have missing libraries on your system, the dependent libraries
can be found as operating system patches. As an example on Linux, the respective patches are:
    Linux RedHat 4:
    X Window: xorg-x11-libs-6.8.1-23.EL or higher.
    OpenGL: xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL-6.8.2-1.EL.13.20, xorg-x11-
    Mesa-libGLU-6.8.2-1.EL.13.20
    SuSE 10:
    X Window: xorg-x11-libs-6.9.0-50.58
    OpenGL: Mesa-6.4.2-19.12, Mesa-6.4.2-19.12
This note we added to the XI 3.1 Supported Platforms document.
For XI 3.1 SP1 we made a fix (ADAPT01146336) to the installer to have a better error message in case the libraries are not found (so not saying anymore that the license key is invalid).

  • Redhat 6.1 and 8.0.5.1 EE w/ patch

Just wondering if anyone has been able to
get Oracle 8.0.5.1 EE to run on Redhat 6.1 with the glibcpatch. All the docs talk about 6.0 but say nothing about 6.1. I patched but the error it gives me is:
error in loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to the $ORACLE_HOME/lib dir and all that jazz. And the patch process relinked everything without errors of any sort. Trying to run svrmgrl, sqlplus, imp, exp, etc all give me the error.
    Thanks
    Phil

I have seen this error in many platforms. I am not sure it relates to your specific issue. When this happens, most of the time the environment is not set up correctly. In particular, make sure that your ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID and LD_LIBRARY_PATH variables are set correctly. If the libclntsh.so.1.0 actually exists in your $ORACLE_HOME/lib and you still get this error, maybe try to move that particular library to /usr/lib (make sure this is also in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH) and see if that works. Just some thought.

  • Patch for Oracle 8.0.5 on RedHat Linux

I cannot find the glibcpatch.tgz under ftp://ftp.oracle.com/pub/www/otn/linux. Please let us know where we can find this patch.

Install the rpms!!!! You obviously haven't learned how to use
rpm. Type "man rpm " and that will help. To install the packages:
    rpm -Uvh compat-?????.rpm
(replace ??? with the actual words)

  • LD_ASSUME_KERNEL casuing havoc in Redhat ES5 when installing oracle patches

    Hi guys
I have installed oracle 10.2.0.1 on a 64 bit Redhat ES5. I am trying to install patch 5689937 which requires the #export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19
However I am unable to do anything when I do the export. I get the following message and i can't run any commands --> "error while loading shared libraries: librt.so.1"
If I try to apply the patch without the required LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 then I get a ton of errors about "occiBytes.cpp:", "undefined reference to"..
May somebody help? I don't have such issues in Redhat 3,4 32 bit.

Use Redhat 4 or, better yet, Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.
