6.2.4

Question

I just read the thread on printing 6.2.9 and if I am correct it was said or implied that one should keep the 6.2.4 update.
My iMac came with 6.2.9 loaded on the machine. Is it possible for me to download the 6.2.4 update and keep that "somewhere" to be used to open old Clariswork files? If the answer is yes exactly how do I do that?

Yvan has written a script that somehow "fools" this stripped version of AppleWorks into getting the Classic component.
The script edits AppleWorks itself by changing the version number to an earlier version number eg version 6.2.9 becomes 6.2.1. Then when you run the AW 6.2.9 Updater it finds this hacked AppleWorks, recognises it as being version 6.2.1, and updates it to both 6.2.9/6.2.8. In short, the Updater installs AppleWorks 6.2.8. You can then use AW 6.2.8 running in Classic to open any recalcitrant files.
Yvan's script is clever, but it directly edits/hacks/cracks AppleWorks itself. When recommending it to people please emphasise that they first copy their AppleWorks, and only use the script on this copy. If anything goes wrong with the script (see Yvan's warranty in the script), or the hacked AppleWorks later behaves strangely, then they will still have the original to use without needing to reinstall from their restore CD (if they still have it).
