6.2.9 in 10.6.4, can't scale by percent

I've been needing to get at some drawings done in Appleworks 6.2.9 last year, but I'm finding that I can no longer scale by percent, although everything else seems to work. I get an "invalid number" error every time. I've tried all the usual maintenance stuff but nothing seems to help.
Any suggestions for a way to get this going again?

I tried 6.2.4 & had no problems with a very simple draw object, so I thought the problem might be 6.2.9. But I recreated the same simple object in 6.2.9 & had no problems resizing using scale by percent. I don't have any older AppleWorks draw documents handy to try. Could you send me one or two & I'll give it a try here?

  • Can i scale lineweights so an /existing/ drawing is now at 1:1 (and the lines match the scale)?

    hi all.
new poster here. very happy with adobe CS suite and very grateful for the advice i have received on the forums.
can anyone help me out with the following please?
i have someone doing an architectural drawing (section and plan) that is being created from my original dwg CAD drawings. the publisher has requested the final product to be at 1:200 and the person doing the AI drawing has their file at 1:100 for some reason they explain but which i don't totally understand. publisher is requesting 1:100 in eps or in pdf format.
is there a way for the person doing this work to /scale/ the drawing so that it is ACTUAL SIZE (this is how i draw in autocad) and then have them save out a version as .eps that is 1:100 or PRINT to PDF a version that is 1:100. i mean, multi-part question here but can they scale what they /currently/ have and then tell the lineweights to all adjust accordingly so that what i am looking at now in their pdf plots is what i will see when they plot the drawing again when it is at full size? like - well - like, manually select all lines and pulldown to SCALE LINEWEIGHTS BY 100 or 200 or something?
or does this involve a whole lot of manual reworking of the drawing in some way?
also, is there any BENEFIT to having the drawing at actual size as opposed to some scaled version if - for instance - instead of having a final product that was 1:100 and 1 1/2" wide i wanted a version that was 24" x 36".
anyway, i am very familiar with CAD and raster and vector etcetera but i would be very grateful if one of the gurus would not mind just getting the inside of my head upholstered in a manner that lets me live with AI a little better...
    THANKS

To back to the normal scale you have to disable the parallax.
Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion (turn off)
You won't be able to put the wallpepr out of frame as ios 6 (earlier), but it stop to putting the annoying zoom.

  • Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use.

How does one remedy this Adobe error message? "Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use." This one always gets me. I'll spend more time trying to find the object in question. This has happened in almost al versions, but this time it's CS5.

Hmm, possible solution would be to select your object(s), scale them to 90%, and then hit Cmd+D or Control+D to repeat the transformation. I read that sometimes if you scale down too much and too fast it can cause this message.
    Hope this works for you!

  • I just installed Adobe InDesign CC 2014 and now I can't scale objects/type using Command+Shift Key. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, any solution?

I just installed Adobe InDesign CC 2014 and now I can't scale objects/type using Command+Shift Key. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, any solution?

There is a conflict with third party software or your system keyboard shortcuts. Lately, there have been many postings about conflicts with Chrome extensions so check there first.
It's not a new problem. I wrote about it on InDesignSecrets.com in 2006:

  • Can not Scale Objects

Hi folks. I have an odd issue I can't find a solution for (obviously), even searching the forums and google. I can select all objects in my drawing, I can see that the bounding has selected all objects - but I can not scale them.
    I'm using Adobe CS3, Mac G5 platform

Don't forget the Scale tool (S). You can use it whether you use bounding boxes or not.
Double-click on the tool or option-click on the scaling origin to get the dialogue window.

  • In Illustrator CS5, how can I scale down the length of each line in a selection rather than the selection as a whole?

For example, suppose that I have selected the three lines in the image A below.  From a right-click > Transform > Scale... > Uniform (70%), I can produce B.  However I would like to produce C, in which each line is scaled down by 70%.  (Of course, I could do this by selecting and scaling down each line individually.  However my images have thousands of lines, so an individual approach is not really feasible.)

Go to Object > Transform > Transform Each, then in the Scale section set both Horizontal and Vertical to 70 %.
Edit: Of course, you must first select the lines that you want to scale!

  • Can I scale an oam file in Muse?

It would seem not, as I can't do it.   If anyone knows, please reply.
The pixel preview of an oam does not even match in Muse.  This makes it hard to place the animation with any accuracy.

    Thanks Darrell.
I am still new to Edge. Can an Edge file be converted to a Symbol and that file placed and transformed (ie: scaled, rotated etc) in another
    Edge file?
Let me know if there any links to learn about Symbols in Edge.
On the off-chance that something obvious in the code below let me know. This is in the Edit HTML window in Muse:
    <iframe src="http://www.first-image.com/_anim/MSF_anim_Edge/index.html" width="600" height="600" scale="20%"  frameborder="0" scrolling="no">
    </iframe>
I had tried the "scale="20%" but the size didn't change. It seems like a loop function should be able to be entered in code here too.
    Thanks, David

  • How can I scale just one dimension of a pic? I need to shrink the width only, to fit the frame.

HELP!  How can I shink only one dimension?  I need to shrink the width slightly to fit the frame; the program only allows scaling that is proportional, so when I shrink the width the heigh becomes too short.  Father Mike

I'd recommend using the rectangular marquee and the crop command. This will crop the image to an exact size without any resampling or distortion. Cropping without constraint can cause distortion...like giving someone a cone head.
Check the size of the image first by either looking in the Image<Resize<Image Size. Make a notation of the height since you don't want to change that in this case. (While you are there, change the resolution to the desired output...make notation of height after this step if you changed the resolution.)
Select the Rectangular Marquee tool. Change the setting in the options bar to "Fixed Size" and input the desired size. (Along with the numbers, specify in this box in what units you desire...px, in, etc.
Drag the marquee to the desired location. (As long as the marquee tool is selected, this selection box can be moved around).
Go up to the menu bar and select Edit<Crop.

  • Can't scale effects with image resize in Photoshop CC, why?

I'm trying to resize an image, size it down from the 600ppi I work in
to a preview 300ppi size. But I can't get any option to resize the layer
effects to work. In that little cog, in the top right, there is a menu
item Scale Effects, but it is always greyed out and unselectable.
I've tried just scaling it in different ways, percentages, the actual
size rather then the ppi. No luck. Anyone know why?
I'm desperate to get this file (which has a tonne of layer comps in it) to print.
    Thanks!

Adobe hid the option in its new dialog making it inconvenient you have no idea of how it is currently set till you click on the gear to see the status of the check-mark.

  • Spark Image can't scale embedded SWF symbols?

Can anyone help me make sense of this?
Using Flex 4.5.1 (Spark only compile) I've found that the new Spark Image control works inconsistently when loading SWF at runtime and embedding SWF symbols. See these two situations:
    1) OK - Spark image loads a whole SWF in runtime. Swf loads OK and scales up to desired size with perfect smooth anti-aliased edges
    2) Not OK - Spark Image loads an embedded swf symbol as follows:
    <s:Image source="@Embed(source='embedded/GeneralSymbols.swf' , symbol = 'komodoDragon')"  x="250" y="35" height="200" />
    ( or using a bindable class )
And the image is pixelated and totally unusable.
It seems unfortunately that when embedding Swf Symbols ( which is a big element of the Adobe Flex - Flash - Illustrator workflow ) the "vector" images are reduced to bitmaps at their original size and don't scale.
I know spark swfLoader is a possible option - but surely it's too heavy for loading many images?

    Hi Ged_mc.
Did you find the answer to this?
I'm using Flex 4.6 SDK and having the same problem. It's kind of dumb, isn't it?
Especially since I'm migrating an application from Flex 3 to 4.6 and it worked perfectly in the previous version.
    Thanks!

  • Can't scale a 1920x1080 movie to 640x360??

Not only does quicktime sometimes stop playing videos, now it won't scale a HD video down to 640x360. It just comes out black. I can scale to 960x540 no problem... How strange.

It's a prores 422 HQ file, trying to convert to a h264. The question is, why does the video come out black?
Not sure why. Believe I have read that some users have had problems with ProRes 422 HQ when layering/compositing with certain other track data (e.g., PICT with alpha)—not something I have personally tried. Moreover, it doesn't explain why the problem would only appear at one specific target resolution. (I.e., does the same thing happen if you export to a 960x540 and then re-export using QT X or QT 7 Pro or export using an anamorphic strategy?)
Still have no idea what system OS or app (FCP 6, 7, X, QT X, QT 7 Pro, Compressor, etc.) or if you are using an export preset or custom settings. For instance, what is the actual H.264 video data rate for finished 640x360 file? That is, is it excessively low as if exporting only the "black background" or does the data rate look normal as if the video data was normally encoded but not being played back properly?

  • Bridge on a windows 8.1 hi DPI display (3200x1800), can I scale the UI?

Hello, lightroom seems to be fine scaling the UI on my hidpi laptop display, however Bridge is essentially unusable sadly.  Hopefully I just have not found the setting?  Can anyone help?

I have this issue too.  Windows 8.1, and my new monitor is a Dell UP2414Q, which is 3840 x 2160 on only a 23.8" monitor so it's a very very tight pixel pitch / small pixel size.  This makes the problem quite severe -- I find Bridge essentially impossible to use in this condition.  Scaling through Windows settings does not help with this product, just as it does not help with Photoshop.  Oddly, Lightroom does not have the problem.  Apparently the Lightroom team took a different programming strategy from the beginning and did not run into some of the Windows API compatibility issues that Photoshop and Bridge did.
Over in the Photoshop community forum, users have been complaining bitterly about this for over a year.  Fixes are forthcoming but it's been a very long time.  The temporary fix in Photoshop is to go into Experimental Settings and check the box for a simple, on-or-off, 200% scaling of the user interface.  There is no range of choice, only the 200% option or nothing.  And this temporary workaround has a pretty major side effect: PS tool windows that you put on other (lower DPI) monitors will be huge. I
Unfortunately Bridge does not seem to have received the same temporary workaround.  I cannot use it until this is solved.
4K displays are accelerating in sales very rapidly... Adobe will be facing a mass exodus of CC users if more heat is not applied to the scaling issues.  It doesn't matter if the ultimate fault rests with Microsoft and Windows.  The majority of software companies have managed to get their apps out for Windows 8 and 8.1 without crippling hi-DPI usage.

  • ¿Can I scale to fit my whole website to any browser, screen resolution or both?

    Hi everyone!
First, i'm not a programmer, but a graphic designer, a have a huge respect for programmers. I need help with some code and thats why i'm here.
I'm using Adobe Muse to create an website, but my website it's on a huge resolution and i can't change the design to make it more efficient, it has to be like that.
I want to know if there's any way to re-size or fit-to-scale width my whole website to a browser windows size, screen resolution, or both with some code using Dreamweaver.
I'm not talking about responsive, it's justo scale everything automatically when the window browser change or the website where open on another resolution.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Ben.
I try to put the code on the <head>:
    <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1">
