6.20 - which patches needed?
I recently finished the installation of WebAS 6.20, already updated the kernel successfully (1509), and now got a bit confused by the amount of other files that are listed in the Kernel-download-area.
Some of these files would fit into the exe/run directory, others extract into a directory structure.
My question is:
Which of these files would I need to get into my system now that I got the latest kernel, and how do I apply these patches (if they don't belong to the kernel-directory)?
I have already read through tons of notes, but I hope to get a "simple" answer to get an overview of the patch / support package system.
Thx,
Max
Ok, after some more reading and searching (even at the weekend ...) I found the answer myself, at least the most important it seems.
Just posting this if someone else reads this looking for a solution:
Note 447925 is essential! I first just quick-read it because of its length, which I shouldn't have ...
Same for note 19466.
Hope I will get through the rest of my patching without troubles.

Which patches need to be installed
I recently install 8.1.7.0.0 database sever.
When I search for patches on Oracle Web, there are patches for 8.1.7.0, 8.1.7.1, 8.1.7.2, 8.1.7.3. Under each release, there are 4-5 patches. Should I install all the patches one by one or should I only install the patches with 8.1.7.3?
Is there any official information for my questions?
Thanks,
Haiming HouYou only need to install the 8.1.7.3 patch. Every patch I've ever seen from Oracle has been cumulative but the
patchset readme should always contain this information.
From the 8.1.7.3 readme:
There are no patches that need to be applied from the patch set Oracle8i Patchset 8.1.7.2.0.
Also, if you look further down in the 8.1.7.3 readme it lists all of the bug fixes included in the patchset and what
version the bug was fixed in 8.1.7.1, 8.1.7.2 or 8.1.7.3. -
Hi all,
I have installed form 6i on my machine
I want to know which patch i need to install..... where can i find that patch???
ThanksAre you posting this question for one of your coworkers? What do you mean, "... +which patch i *need* to install+ ..."? Only you can determine if there is a need for a patchset.
If you are not experiencing any problems with this very obsolete version then you don't need to install any patches. If however, you are experiencing problems then your only option would be to install one of the last patches which was Patch 17 or Patch 18 (which was intended for EBiz). These patches are only available for customers possessing current accounts to MyOracleSupport.
If you do have a valid Support contract and do have access to MOS, here is some information you should review:
Note: 228666.1 ; Product Obsolescence Desupport Notice
Patch 17 (ID 4183804)
Patch 18 (ID 4948577)
All of the above are available at: http://support.oracle.com -
How to check whethere apps patch need downtime or not?
hi,
i am going to apply in Oracle 11i.how to that patch need down time or not?
Plz help
Thanks in advanceHi,
Check the patch README file and it should tell you. For the application patches, you need to enable maintenance mode in general before applying any patch. You may use "options=hotpatch" to apply the patch online without enabling maintenance mode but it depends on what patch you are applying, the size of the patch, and modules it is affecting. For patchsets, family packs, minipacks, and AD/FND patches, it is better you enable maintenance mode before applying the patch. For small patches which only need to replace a package with a new one you can apply the patch online.
The best practice is to try your patching on a TEST instance first and see how it works. Please remember you would need to shutdown the application services on Windows if relinking executable files is required, otherwise the patch will fail and you will have to run it again after stopping the services.

Two node Rac cluster
Hello guys, I have a bit of a situation with patch terminology. My manager came to me and told me that we had to find out which patches to be applied and after that we had to go to metalink and find out what patches are available for our systems.
so first off, I logged into one node, went to $ORACLE_HOME/Opatch/ and did the following "opatch lsinventory" and got the following information.
Now my question is, how do I use the following info to find out what other patches to be applied?

{code}You are running 11.2.0.2 The current (latest) patchset level is 11.2.0.4 That requires an "out-of-place" upgrade -- i.e. by installing 11.2.0.4 in a seperate ORACLE_HOME and then running catupgrd.
However, before you do that, you should be upgrading your Grid Infrastructure (to 11.2.0.4)
Since an upgrade from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.4 is significant, you should test your applications against 11.2.0.4 in a test environment first.
See Oracle Support notes
11.2.0.4 Patch Set - Availability and Known Issues (Doc ID 1562139.1)
and
Important Changes to Oracle Database Patch Sets Starting With 11.2.0.2 (Doc ID 1189783.1)
CPUs are documented here : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alerts-086861.html
The latest CPU, for the October 2013 release, is the final CPU for 11.2.0.2 [See Oracle Support note "Patch Set Update and Critical Patch Update October 2013 Availability Document (Doc ID 1571391.1)"]. Subsequent CPUs will be released for 11.2.0.3 and 11.2.0.4
Some customers, to be safe, do not apply the latest patch "until it has stabilised". They might choose to be one patch level lower than the latest. For example, to be on 11.2.0.3 and the July 2013 CPU. Your organistation needs to have a Patch Management Policy that drives decisions on patching.

Does Peopletools patches need to be applied to PS_CFG_HOME?
Hello,
I am using Peopletools 8.52 version.
Need help to find out whether Peopletools patches need to be applied on PS_CFG_HOME also along with PS_HOME?
ThanksThe *cfg are not touched by the patches, so PS_CFG_HOME is not directly touched until you reconfigure the domain.
On the other hands, the patch may or may not modify the cfx/ubx (in PS_HOME)... which are used to create/reconfigure the domain configuration files (in your PS_CFG_HOME), in that case only you'll have to reconfigure your domain.
I do not see any reason to apply patch in PS_CFG_HOME, and if it happened, then except it is dirty, it will probably do not harm if and only if you continue to use PS_HOME to run psadmin.

Which patches to apply for 11i Demo Instance?
Who can tell me which patch must be applied for 11i Demo instance after install completely because I found many errors from 11i Demo such as Oracle Managemnet Module can not test the functionality.
You need to apply the 11.5.3. level of code and Patch set D before you do much with OM. Even with 11.5.3. you will still not be able to complete a full order cycle. Shipping still gets blocked with errors that are being worked on at Oracle Development as we speak.

Any patch need for Grid control 10.2.0.5 to install Application management
We already have ORACLE Grid Control 10.2.0.5 (X86 version) on Linux server. Due to we have EBS, We plan to install ORACLE Application Management Pack 3.0 into Grid Control 10.2.0.5.
I heard there have patch need apply to Grid Control 10.20.05 before install Application management pack into it. Anyone know which patch?
Thanks.when you click on the tab "Application Servers" on the far upper left site of the GridControl (right next to Hosts, Databases, ...) then
you will see of which components the Oracle Application server exists (HTTP-server, OC4J, WebCache, ...). Therefore the HTTP-server is just
part of the application server - and if the application server gets shut down it's meant that all components wil get shut down...

I recently upgraded to Mtn Lion 10.8 and can't load any of the myst games: Myst, Riven, Exile, etc. Is there a patch needed?
BookCamp will not help
PowerPC is the processor that Apple used prior to switching to Intel. It is a very old version of Apple for which support has been dropped.
It is not Windows which is what BootCamp will allow you to install.

Ensure that you have the most recently updated patch list by consulting http://support.oracle.com (My Oracle Support). Search for the knowledge document 1004881.1 - Live Upgrade Software Patch Requirements (formerly 206844) on My Oracle Support.
The patches listed in knowledge document 1004881.1 - Live Upgrade Software Patch Requirements (formerly 206844) on My Oracle Support are subject to change at any time. These patches potentially fix defects in Live Upgrade, as well as fix defects in components that Live Upgrade depends on. If you experience any difficulties with Live Upgrade, please check and make sure that you have the latest Live Upgrade patches installed.
If you are running the Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 OS, you might not be able to run the Live Upgrade installer. These releases do not contain the set of patches needed to run the Java 2 runtime environment. You must have the recommended patch cluster for the Java 2 runtime environment recommended to run the Live Upgrade installer and install the packages. To install the Live Upgrade packages, use the pkgadd command. Or install, for the Java 2 runtime environment, the recommended patch cluster. The patch cluster is available on http://support.oracle.com (My Oracle Support).
For instructions about installing the Live Upgrade software, see Installing Live Upgrade.
Required patches available via MOS ( My Oracle Support: http://support.oracle.com).
But for access to this site you must have active service contract.

Which patch to apply in ONLINE mode
How can we judge which patch to apply in ONLINE/Hot mode...??
Is the patch readme only option ??
or there is some other way ??Hi Vicky,
General Patch readme shows you that if patch require down time or no? other than that you need to assume from your server performance wether you will able to apply patch online with sufficenet worker or not? and how much time will it take? also consider the size of patch you need to apply. And then take decision wether to apply patch online or not?
Thanks,

In Icloud on my imac I can't see my "numbers" icon which i need to select "tick" to transfer data to my other devices via icloud. any ideas why it's not showing up?
You have to do it app wise, which means that the icon won't show up in settings, but you will be able to move files from your local drive to iCloud via the Numbers app (move... > choose the iCloud option).
It requires that you set up the same iCloud account on all your devices and that you have the latest version of Numbers on all your devices as well. -
FPC wont let me render! I'm a video editor and have over 70 gb worth of videos on the imac which all need to be kept for various clients/backup/original versons but now beloved imac is full, only had it for 5 months! Will Ineed external hard drive every 5 months?? This can't be I've already resorted to getting rid of unsed applications such as garage band, iTunes, address book ect. I've trashed everything I could. what next ???
My video files are massive, converting them to a different format doesn't reduce the size of them it just turns them into mp4 or apple pro res ect
This iMac is for work only so there's no pictures, no music, no conacts, no messenger, no games, nonothing but videos!!Have a look at this: http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/
It will show you exactly what is taking up all of your space.
You also may want to consider some kind of external storage just for your video projects.
