6/21/2012 - Windows Flash Player Update

Today, the Windows Flash Player plug-in for Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera and other browsers was updated to 11.3.300.262.
This release addresses stability issue found in Mozilla Firefox.  This build does not address the audio issues reported by some customers but we continue to focus on these problems and will continue to do so until they are resolved.
If you continue to have problems with this release, please see this tech note for suggestions and instructions for reporting these issues to us: Flash Player 11.3 compatibility issues with RealPlayer extension in Mozilla Firefox.
For full details on the 11.3 release, please see our release notes.

'Failed to register' is caused by inadequate/corrupted registry key permissions.
One possibility to fix it (does not work in some cases): How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player?
Another possibility that I have just though of: can you try http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/
Also, have you tried to use the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header ?

  • Flash Player Update disables "restore all windows from last session" in Safari on Mac

I am on Mac OS 10.9.5, using safari 7.1.2.  Adobe Flash Player Update loses all safari windows when after update the installer automatically opens safari and just opens flash player website; the "restore all windows from last session" is grayed out in history. The "reopen last closed window" is also grayed out. It has been happening ever since and happened again when I just installed Flash Player ver 16.0.0.257.
For all other normal working situation I can close safari and reopen and see that I can "restore all windows from last session" and there is no problem.  But on flash Player install (set on manual install), the problem is annoying and costs me a lot of time to restore one by one from history.  I do not think this is a Mac or a Safari issue, but will update to Mac Yosemite help if Adobe Flash Player is updated differently in that setup?
    Please help.

Update: I called adobe flash player technical support phone number 1 877-587-1877.  They want $59 (warranty only 6 months) to fix this problem as they use a third party to solve this issue; they themselves provide no support.  Or buy the paid version.  They insist it is my network issue which I absolutely can not believe.
It is adobe Flash player update that forces reopening of safari and wracks the safari losing all windows from last session. That is not my network.  Adobe does not have a proper safari compatible flash player update.
Besides, this is a known problem at Adobe and they are not fixing it and want money to fix it one person at a time!  They also shared that 25% to 30% of the installations have this problem... wow!! and they still will not fix it in a general update!  I wonder if safari has a plug in update that can fix this?

  • After installing Flash player updates, Recently Closed Windows in History menu lost

    Hi Friends,
This is just an annoying problem, not really serious, I guess. Whenever I download and install Flash Player updates, History > Recently Closed Tabs, and History > Recently Closed Windows, are wiped out.
This is a problem for me, because when I log on to my computer every morning, I use History > Restore Previous Session, to get back all the tabs I had open the night before. And often also Recently closed Windows, if I had a 2nd and/or 3rd Ff window open last night. After I install Flash Player, the previous session becomes the Adobe update site. I think I can avoid losing the previous session, by making sure I open my previous session before I start the download and installation.
(I don't use fully automatic updates for Flash. I have the system alert me when it's ready, and then the next time I log on to the internet, the download popup window appears. I don't know why it waits until the next time I log on, instead of right after I click ok (and also ok on Spybot S&D and WinPatrol alerts). And I know you can't provide support for that part. But just to let you know all the relevant info :-) .)
So normally, if I've done something to lose my previous session (with all my usual tabs) (usually when I'm in a hurry and don't notice that I've opened Ff without restoring previous session) I can still get that session because it shows up in Recently Closed Windows.
But after I install the Flash update, Recently Closed Windows (and Recently closed Tabs) are both wiped out.
I'm hoping someone can sort this out, and I can just change some setting somewhere, to prevent this. Or maybe like the previous session, and remembering to open it, before I start the dl, it might just be a matter or altering my habits. I can't think of any habit changing that would work though. So that's why I'm asking all you wise Ff users :-) Hopefully it's not a bug?
Thank you very much for any insight, comments or suggestions :-D
    All best.

hello, this problem happens since the adobe installer triggers the opening of a browser window once the update is finished, which then overwrites the last session...
you could try if adding ''SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1'' to the adobe mms.cfg configuration file addresses that issue, as described here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/administration-configure-auto-update-notification.html

  • Can you provide a link for Flash Player update for Steam on a windows 7 64bit O/S?

Is it possible to get a correct link for the 64Bit Flash Player Update for the Steam programe?
Steam keeps proving a link that only goes to the 32Bit version.
which in turns keeps giving me this page time after time again.

There is no separate 32-bit/64-bit installers.  Flash Player will automatically install both editions on a 64-bit system.

  • Error:  Flash Player  "Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem ..."

I get the following message as soon as I boot up my PC:
"Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
According to Adobe, this is the first time they've heard of this issue.

Unchecking auto updates does not stop the message for me.
Sorry to hear that too.  I actually recommended this to a few friends who were having the same issue, and it worked for them.
But, I'm wondering....  Have you tried disabling the check for updates settings in both the (Window's Control Panel's) Global settings manager and the (online) Global Notifications Settings panel?  (That's the one on this page -- http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l )  On that page, click on the "Globe with the Check Mark" tab and make sure that the box is blank.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Flash Player Update Dialog - Confused

    Hello,
    Configuration: OS X v10.6.8, Safari 5.1.7
On May 29th, I updated to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player:  Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 — from file “Flash Player.plugin” (version 11.2.202.235).
Over the past few days, I keep getting this dialog while using my browser:
I'm confused about this, since the Apple Support Article: HT5271  says:
Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Lion, Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Snow Leopard, and Leopard Security Update 2012-003 disable out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player. Out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player do not include the latest security updates and will be disabled to help keep your Mac secure. If Safari 5.1.7 or Leopard Security Update 2012-003 detects an out-of-date version of Flash Player on your system, you will see a dialog informing you that Flash Player has been disabled. The dialog provides the option to go directly to Adobe's website, where you can download and install an updated version of Flash Player.
This Adobe dialog I'm getting does not seem to follow what the Support Article says.  I have installed Security Update 2012-003.
Do I install this per the Adobe dialog I'm seeing OR do I wait for a Mac (Safari) dialog informing me that Flash Player has been disabled providing me with the option to go directly to Adobe's website (as noted in the Apple Support Article: HT5271)?
And do I need to deselect automatic updates in the Flash Player Local Settings Manager (I can't seem to even find the Settings Manager)?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks for the replies Linc and Carolyn!
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
You can select:  Never check for updates even though it's not recommended and click Check Now at your own convenience for updates. That will prevent the Flash Player update pop up window.
Do I need to uninstall the old Flash plug-in before doing this?

  • Flash Player update constant checking

After a recent flash player update, my Win event log fills with the following events:
The Adobe Flash Player Update Service service entered the running state.
The Adobe Flash Player Update Service service was successfully sent a start control.
The Adobe Flash Player Update Service service entered the stopped state.
This happens exactly every hour. I set the FP Global Settings to "Never check for updates ..." just to see what happened. No effect. Global Settings reports:
    ActiveX Version: 11.1.102.62
    Plugin-in: 11.2.202.228
Can I get the checks or the reports to stop? Is this normal? Thx.

Yes, this is normal; see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981567 and especially http://blogs.adobe.com/spohl/2012/03/30/hello-adobe-flash-player-background-updater-window s/
I had originally disabled the automatic background updater (from the Task Scheduler), but re-enabled it, as it takes only a few milliseconds every hour.
You can also change the scheduled task to run only every 24 hours, or in longer intervals.

  • I can't download/install Adobe Flash Player update version 11.7.700.169.

I have tried several times to download and install Adobe Flash Player update version 11.7.700.169 without success. My OS is Windows XP with SP3 and my web browser is Internet Explorer. My current Adobe Flash Player version is 11.6.602.180. In the Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player IE window I unchecked the checkbox "Yes, install Chrome as my default browser and Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer - optional"  and clicked [UpdateNow]. Then I followed the installation instuctions. When I tried to run the installer I got an Internet Explorer Script Error dialog box.
I then clicked yes on the Scrippt Error dialog box and it closed. The new version did not install. I still have the old version.
    What am I doing wrong?

Download and run the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header (under the heading Progress bar hangs...).

  • Flash Player update install/download stops at 2 of 3

I've never had any problems in the past with installing/downloading Adobe Flash Player updates. Now I am. Why? I know Adobe Flash Player is installed on my computer, I've checked to make sure it is enabled and I have also disabled or unchecked the ActiveX filtering too. If I choose not to install Google Chrome for downloading the newest Flash Player update, does this cause the install/download to not complete and stop at 2 of 3 steps? I believe I have unchecked Google Chrome in the past with no issues, but not sure now. I usually have to go in uninstall Google Chrome because it always seems to mess with my Facebook page. So I no longer want Google Chrome installed on my computer because of this.
The install/download never gets to this point so I can finish the install/download because stops at 2 of 3 steps :
Any advise as to what to do now?

    Hi,
Based on your screenshot, I'm guessing the 'Save File' option never becomes available.  Is that correct.  I also see the file being downloaded has '14' in it, which means this is a version 14 file, which you shouldn't be getting as we're up to version 17.  I've forwarded this to the folks who handle the online installer to investigate. In the meantime, you can use the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.  There are several installer types for various browsers.  You'll want to update Flash Player for all browsers you use, unless you have Windows 8.x in which case, Microsoft embeds Flash Player in IE and prevents installation using the Flash Player installer, as updates are performed via updates to IE.

  • Installing Adobe Flash Player Update 10.3

This is my fist time here. I have a HP Pavilion Windows XP computer. My access to the  Internet is only through the latest version of Mozilla Firefox.
When I try to play a video connected to a news story, etc, I get this small box asking if I  want to install Adobe Flash Player Update 10.3. When. I click on yes, I get another box saying I have to close Mozilla Firefox. Well if I close that, I have no Internet connection. Sort of Catch 22. Don't know why Adobe wants me to close my Internet connectiion and then to try to install its software. Not doable as far as I know.
Are recommendations for dealing/resolving this situation?

You're posting to the wrong forum. This forum is about Acrobat on the
    Windows platform, not about Flash.
However, usually the internet connection is not dependent on the browser.
You have an internet connection and you just use the browser to access the
internet, so there shouldn't be a problem downloading and installing Adobe
    Flash even with Firefox closed.

  • 02/18/13 Flash Player Update Has Scripting Errors

    Win XP
    IE 8
    11.6.602.168
Attempted to install the Flash Player update that apparently released this morning and my install was interrupted by the following scripting error.
    Line 1
    Char 13128
    'ActionGtbCheck' is undefined
    Code 0
    URL" http://127.0.0.1:2318/app/_js/adobe.js
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
I used the link to the install that the Update Notifier gave me. It appears that I actually have a version installed already that is for IE9 not IE8. Not sure why Adobe would have had me upgrade to an incompatible version or why the Update Notifier is telling me to patch if I already have the most recent version installed Either way, this needs to be fixed. My scripting options are all checked as directed in your tutorial. My Java is also patched and active.
Downloads should be quick and pain free. All I should have to do is click Install and it should happen. Whatever is going on here needs to be fixed on YOUR end. Customer service chat told me that they are unable to help and suggested I purchase a $39 phone call in order to notify Adobe about the problems with their install. LOLOLOL

If Adobe is one of the few non-public sector companies left in the US who still observe President's Day by closing their doors and giving staff a holiday then kudo's to them! If this was the case, then might I suggest that releasing a patch the day before the holiday closure might not have been the wisest course of action?
Pat, I could begin with the on-line chat individual who tried to sell me troubleshooting for a properly functioning system when I was trying to report an issue with the patcher and perhaps also receive some acknowledgement that the issue was known (or not) and being addressed. But let's not go there. I will suggest, that if you believe ignoring those who have questions about your product for an extended length of time is an acceptable way to engage in business, then perhaps you have a bright and promising future at the local mall. End of that topic.
Chris, I don't understand what you mean by "appropriate stand alone Windows installers". I clicked the link embedded in the update notification and it took me directly to the installer that I attempted to use and that subsequently returned the scripting error. So how could that not be appropriate? But comparing the version the site says is already on my system to the version numbers given on the patch it appears that I already have the most recent version installed.
If this is the case then perhaps the error was actually in the program that checks for the patches thinking I even needed a patch? Also when I checked the system specs for the download I don't think it listed it as being appropriate for IE 8, which is the most current version available for XP, so perhaps that's causing errors? So I'm confused as to what's going on.
At this point I'm not certain I need to do anything other than wait for Adobe developers to troubleshoot the patcher? The version of Flash I have installed, though it has the memory issues that have been the topic on this thread for months (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5089040#5089040), seems to be performing the same as it usually does. It still takes 15 minutes or longer to load the thumbnails on the Netflix homepage and Hulu, but I can at least use the Hulu player if I'm willing to ignore the flickering and occasional freezing. Silverlight, as always, runs beautifully.
Of more concern are potential security loopholes that might still be unplugged if my version isn't correctly updated. I was actually hacked just viewing a fan site and had a game account stolen about a year and a half ago June, when a newly released Flash version left out a security correction included in the older code.
Thanks to both of you for taking the time to respond to my posts. I realize I was not at my sweetest and most adorable while posting.

  • How do I trigger a Flash Player update?

On Vista machine, when (limited privledges) Visitor loged in, there was an "Adobe Flash Player update available" pop-up.  I do not do any updates as Visitor and so logged out and back in as admin.  But I cannot seem to get that pop-up message.  I have looked at the Global Notifications Settings Panel and Notify me when an update to Adobe Flash Player is available is checked.
There is an update, the settings is set to notify me, but I don't get a notification (I presume that's what the pop-up was/is).
Or does the notification only happen once a day and only for one one account on a PC?

    3 years later...
    In Windows 7,
Start -> type "cmd" into the search box (without the quotes)
Windows should find a program named cmd
Click on it to start command prompt.
A black text window should appear, with a prompt and cursor.
At the prompt you want to run the FlashUtil program with the -update plugin argument but the problem is that
The version number changes with each update, and
Over time, adobe changes where in the file system it stores this file
So, you will probably have to search for a similar program.  Once you find it, replace mine below with the program you found, and the path you found it in.
The following command works today on my system. As you can see i'm currently on version 14.0.0.145 (I will be upgrading to version 16.0.0.235 today.)
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil32_14_0_0_145_plugin.exe -update plugin
Running this command (with the right FlashUtil exe file, once you find it) produces the familiar flash update notification window popup, which looks like this (for the v16.0.0.235 update):

  • Flash Player update 10.3 unable to download and save flv files

    Hello,
Since the Flash Player update to 10.3.183.10 it is no longer possible for me to download and save *.flv files. A file of only 2320 kb is saved along with a meta file of 1 kb. The 2320 kb file has a flv extension but the file will not play in any of my media players. Files of mp4 type still download and play fine. The problem only occurred following the last upgrade and even though I uninstalled then reinstalled Adobe Flash Player I cannot overcome the problem. My PC runs MS Windows Vista Home Premium Version: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. Browser Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421.
Your assistance would be much appreciated.
    Dibloc

    Thank you.
The problem only occurs when downloading flv files from YouTube. For all video downloads I have been using RealPlayer and experience no problems when downloading flv files from sites other than YouTube.
Have been able to download these files now using the site http://www.savevid.com/
Perhaps YouTube are blocking the use of RealPlayer from downloading flv files?
