That one should work, in fact any LDAP client will since it is standards based.

Error installing Oracle Client on Red Hat 4.0
This is the error that displays when it's 80 % already installing:

Please, Help meeeee!!!!
Thanks...I have exacrtly the same problem. I am installing "10201_database_linux_x86_64" on Red Hat 3.0. The error I got, though, is more specific:

I checked the missing library file: libclntsh.so.10.1 it is not in the folder. It seems to me that this file should come with Oracle installation software, and somehow it is not there, so it didn't get copied over to $ORACLE_HOME/lib, which cause this error.
Also, this error seems interesting too:

Please help!

Oracle 9.0.1 client on Red Hat 8.0
If anyone knows work arounds for the following issues I would appeciate knowing what they are.
1) netca - If the test option is selected while creating a tnsname, the application crashes with the following message:
/var/opt/oracle/9.0.1/bin/netca: line 108: 9239 Segmentation fault $JRE -classpath $CLASSPATH oracle.net.ca.NetCA $*
If I say "no" to test, then the tnsnames.ora is created correctly. CLASSPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/JRE:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/network/jlib
2) OEM console crashes when trying to connect to a management server, or when trying to run standalone and specifying preferred credentials for connection. In either case I get
Segmentation fault
Other info. RAM is 128 MB and swap is 512 MB. Kernel is 2.4.20-13.8 and I had the same problem with 2.4.18-14. Any ideas are appreciated. It's hard to tell what might be going wrong without seeing more of the application. Have you tried creating the environment(s) in OCI_THREADED mode?

I am receiving errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 (Administrator) on zLinux. During the install I receive two notifications for File Not Found when the installer tries to create the link for lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1. I hit ignore on the pop-ups and the install completes. The Oracle Net Configuration Assistant then fails to launch with the following error:
Output generated from configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant":

UnsatisfiedLinkError exception loading native library: njni10
Configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" failed
The "/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
I have seen multiple threads relating to very similar errors, but none of the fixes that were suggested have worked. I have double checked the required Red Hat packages and made sure they were all installed on the server. All of the prerequisite checks for the installer are successful. Any assistance would be of most helpful!Worked with my Linux system admin and figured out that we were indeed missing some packages. There are 390 and 390x rpm's for Red Hat on System Z, i.e. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Since we are running a 64 bit os some of those 32 bit packages did not get installed. Since our roles are split up, I am kind of blind as to the OS setup so I was not able to catch the problem. It is truly puzzling as to why Oracle would need 32 bit packages even though Oracle client is 64 bit. Regardless, after adding the 32 bit rpm's the installer was able to perform the linking operation that was failing, and the network configuration script ran successfully.

Error connecting to Oracle on Red Hat 7.2 with WL 7.0
I able not able to connect to Oracle on Red Hat 7.2. I have tried both 9.0.1 and 9.2.0.
I am able to use a very similar configuration and W2k and it works.
Here is the situation:
I have installed Weblogic 7.0.0.1 on Redhat 7.2. It works fine in generic form.
I have also installed Oracle 9.2.0 client files. I have verified connectivity with
a remote database using the Oracle tnsping tool. I have modified the startWLS.sh
file so that the oci901_8 libraries are used by Weblogic. I have added the following
line to startWeblogic.sh:
------ BEGIN code snippet ---
# --- Setup Oracle ---
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${ORACLE_HOME}/lib
POST_PATH=${WL_HOME}/server/bin/oci901_8:${ORACLE_HOME}/bin:

My config.xml file has this entry (which works on NT)

On startup I get this error:

DavidHi David,
The driver for 9.2.0 is not yet out. You may want to use the thin driver.
You can also request this driver by filling a support case.

These are same values I used for the tnsping which does work.
Any other ideas?

Oracle 8.1.6 on Red Hat 7.1
Hello,
I have a problem instaling a Oracle 8.1.6 on a old machine
running RH 7.1.
I read all the comments in this group concernig the question
about the JRE, the need to place assume_kernel=2.2.5 and to run
the /i386-...env.sh script.
I also have all the compatibility packages installed.
And it does not seem to work!
I still get a linking problem during instalation and even with
those errors the instaler assumes the instalation is sussefull.
Is there someone that can tell me what to do step-by-step to
install a oracle 8.1.6 (not other 8.1.7!) in a Red Hat 7.1
installation?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
PedroI could not get back to this discussion group before. I apolagize
for that, but as I mentioned in the previous message my problem
is a linking one:
I have follow the step metioned in several discussions in this
group, namely:
I have installed the compatibility libraries:
compat-glibc
compat-egcs
compat-libs
Set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL= 2.2.5
run the environment script ./usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386
...-en.sh
The runinstaller program run ok has metioned previously but it
gives me errors during linking:
After copying the necessary files and all that initial
instalation work the linking phase runs smootly, it even link
correctly several Oracle tools like Oracle intermedia, Oracle
net8 client, and so on.
When the Oracle 8i server linking the problems start.
All errors are like this:
-> Error invoking target install of makefile
And the afected makefiles are numerous:
/OraHome1/network/lib/ins_net_server.mk
/OraHome1/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk
/OraHome1/ldap/lib/ins_ldap.mk
/OraHome1/odg/lib/ins_odg.mk
/OraHome1/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk
Yes, the famous ctx is also giving me problems.
Moreover:The mentiones target .c files refered to in the makefile
script are all in their places!
I do not know what is happenig in this instalation.
Any clue?
Best regards,
Pedro
Note:
I also tried to cover for the ld and gcc linker and compiler to
make sure they are the right version as is mentioned in another
thread... same thing! -

All I'm posting is the info that I got from my Sys Admin on the fix to my problem I encountered when trying to install Oracle 11g (11.2.0.0) on Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5. Since we're mouting onto an NFS, these are the steps he took. I'm not trying to "hide" information or post as little as possible. What other info do you want? I don't know what you are referring to when you mention "Filer, make, model, software version"? Please elaborate. I was just trying to post to others that may have encountered this problem, and I get somewhat attacked by you. I don't assume anyone can read my mind (especially you).

ORA-3115 occuring after migration to Oracle 11.1.0.6 on Red Hat
Our application has been running on Tru64 5.1b, Oracle v9 for years quite happily. Since migrating to Red Hat Linux, Oracle 11 we've encountering ORA-3115 errors sporadically from a Pro*C call.
Our C executable maintains a connection to the database. Once the 3115 error occurs it occurs on every query to the database from that executable (other processes continue OK, something with the connection?). Our proram uses Pro*c queries with dynamic binds.
There seems to be no pattern to the frequency with which the error occurs.
The offending bit of code is usually:
EXEC SQL SELECT
UPDATE_INHIBITED,
LAST_UPDATE_TIME,
TO_CHAR(LAST_LIVE_UPDATE, 'HH24:MI:SS DD-MM-YYYY'),
LAST_TRANSACTION,
LAST_TRANSACTION_DG
INTO
:sql_update_inhibited,
:sql_last_update,
:sql_last_operational_update,
:sql_last_trans,
:sql_last_trans_dg
FROM SET_DETAILS
WHERE SET_ID = :sql_set_id;
This code has been unchanged for years. The fact that it usually occurs here probably more because this is the first database call completed as part of a scheduled process.
This problem is having an operational impact (as the updates do not occur) and I really need to get a resoltuion before the Christmas break.
As I said we've just migrated to a new server. There may be configuation parameters that are not perfect. Any suggestions on what we could double check?
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas how I can work around this?
Thanks,
BeckIs your client is also 11g is not upgrade to 11g Client and try.

Installing Oracle Database 10g on Linux Red Hat 5.1
While inslalling Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Linux x86-64 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.1 (Tikanga) we've got an error
Checking operating system version: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2
Failed <<<<
Could we install Oracle Database 10g on Linux Red Hat 5.1 or we need only Oracle Database 11g?Verify that the redhat-release RPM is installed on your Red Hat system:
rpm -q redhat-release
This RPM is important for RHEL since RHEL AS 4, RHEL AS 3, and RHEL AS 2.1 are Linux releases supported by Oracle. Without this RPM, Oracle 10g OUI won't be able to recognize it as a supported OS. However, the installer of 10g 10.1.0.3 does not recognize RHEL AS 4 as a supported release yet. This means that you will have to edit the /etc/redhat-release file. You also have to change /etc/redhat-release for unsupported releases like Fedora Core and RH9.
I do not recommend to execute "runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs" since this will disable other checks you probably don't want to.
On RHEL AS 4 (for 10g R1), RH9, and FC 1 you have to change the /etc/redhat-release file to make Oracle 10g believe it's running on a supported release.
Regarding RHEL AS 4, the installer for 10g 10.1.0.3 does not recognize RHEL AS 4 as a supported release but 10g R2 OUI does.
To change the /etc/redhat-release file, you can simply copy/paste the following commands:
su - root
cp /etc/redhat-release /etc/redhat-release.orig
cat > /etc/redhat-release << EOF
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3 (Taroon)
EOF
After you are done with the Oracle10g installation, undo the changes you made to /etc/redhat-release:
su - root
cp /etc/redhat-release.orig /etc/redhat-release
