6.5 Client Connectivity
We have some very strange behavior with our 6.5 implementation. We are running 6.5 on two physically identical Windows 2008 R2 servers. Both servers are logging to their own Citadel databases and operate independently of each other. This way if one server drops or is in need of maintenance, we can restore trace data from the other server and maintain continuity in the trending on each server. On the client side, I have configured clients to monitor a tag on the "Primary" server and if the tag goes to false or bad quality, the client will automatically switch over to monitor from the "Backup" server. In addition, I have given the clients a manual switch that allows them to override this logic and to manually switch over to the backup server. This all works great and as expected. The problems we are seeing are inconsistencies in the communication between clients and servers. Some clients can connect to the primary server no problem. Some cannot. Some can view live data from the primary, but only view the hypertrend data from the backup. Some can view both from the primary and after some time, they will lose that connectivity. The only difference in software between the primary and backup server is that the primary server has Backup Exec Remote Agent installed for backing up data to a tape drive. I have one client in particular that cannot connect to the primary server at all, I have tested with tag monitor and cannot browse the primary server, but the backup server is no problem. Servers both have firewalls turned off and do NOT have any other protection software running (A/V, etc...) that would interfere. I have used the "LOGOS.ini" fix that has been referenced in this forum by others, and we are still having the problem. Logos.ini is configured on both servers and clients as below:
[logos]
Global.DisableLogosXT=True
I have tried systems with and without the above logs.ini fix but still have problems.
Anybody out there have any ideas?
Weird, this is still an issue, but I have an update.
We found a Windows XP computer that was a fresh install. No firewall, no antivirus installed.
Computer would not enumerate tags, nor would it display values or hypertrends in Lookout.
Added the Logos.ini file to the computer and restarted. No change. Could not enumerate tags in Shared Variable Monitor, no values in Lookout.
Registered the IP address for the primary server in Shared Variable Monitor. Once this was done, I could enumerate tags. Opened Lookout and values and hypertrends were working.
Tried the same thing for the backup server, registered IP address, no luck. Could not enumerate tags through the DNS name or the IP Address.
Lookout was still running in the background on the primary server. After about 5 minutes, it stopped working. With Shared Variable Monitor still open, refreshed and tried to enumerate tags under the primary server and it again failed.
What in the world is going on with the communications here???

Remote access VPN clients connected to Internet from VPN
Greetings,
I need to let remote VPN clients to connect to Internet from the same ASA VPN server
" client connects to ASA through VPN tunnel from outside interface then access Internet from the same ASA from outside interface again
thanksyou'll need to configure 'same-security-traffic permit intra-interface' on the ASA .
Also, need to setup the corresponding nat statements for your clients pool range.
i.e.
global (outside) 1 interface
nat (outside) 1 access-list anyconnectacl
where anyconnectacl is the pool for your clients:
access-list anyconnectacl permit ip 172.16.1.0 255.255.255.0 any -
regarding mountain lion server: clients experience intermittent service connections. the server system log has the following error- Client handshake failed (6):113: Server not accepting client connections. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you
Hi Jason
I was getting the same behavior after Apple support had me delete some plist files to get Airplay going. I was also getting the following error:
the error occurred while processing a command of type 'writesettings' in the plug-in 'server vpn'
I went into ~/Library/Preferences/ and /Library/Preferences/ and deleted every plist contating the word server. I had to re-set up my server (meaning walk through some intial steps) but all of my settings were still there after that and everything started working again.
Just a thought, obviously try at your own risk but it worked for me.

How to make the client connect to the server at the command prompt?
I found this code on IBM's website, it was a training session on servers and clients using java.
The code compiles fine and the server seems to start up properly when I use java Server 5000. I think whats happening is the server is running and listening for a connection on port 5000.
When I try to run the client I get the following error.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: main
I see a start() method but no main. As far as I know, applications should all have main, it seems as if the person who wrote this kinda confused applets with application. Not that I would really know what happened.
If you have time, could you tell me if there's an easy fix for this? I would love to have this client/server working if it isn't too much trouble. As I have looked all over the net for a free client/server applet that will actually let me see the java code and none of the free ones do allow getting to their source.
Most of them allow you to customize them somewhat but also have built in advertising that can't be removed.
This is the closest I have come to finding one that lets me look under the hood. But alas it doesn't work out of the box and I don't know what to do to fix it.
Heres the code: Server:

Internal outlook client connectivity in exchange 2010 when coexist with exchange 2013
Hi all ,
on my side i would like to clarify few queries.
Say for instance i am coexisting exchange 2010 with exchange 2013 .Unfortunately if all of my exchange 2013 servers goes down .
Q1 .On that time will the internal outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010 can be able to connect mailboxes without any issues ? In case if they face any issues what kind of issues will they be? Because why i am asking is we should have pointed
the autodiscover service to exchange 2013 during coexistence.
When an user closes and reopens the outlook after whole exchange 2013 environment failure ,outlook will first query the autodiscover service for the profile changes to get it updated on users outlook profile. In such case autodiscover service will not be
reachable and i wanted to know will that affects the internal client connectivity for outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010.
Q2. Apart from outlook internal users connectivity ,what kind of exchange services(i.e owa, active sync, pop, external OA and imap) will get affected when whole exchange 2013 environment goes down during coexistence ?
I have read the below mentioned statement on this awesome blog but still i wanted to clarify with you all on my scenario.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx<o:p></o:p>
Internal Outlook Connectivity
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2010, they will still connect to the Exchange 2010 RPC Client Access array endpoint.
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2007, they will still connect directly to the Exchange 2007 Mailbox server instance hosting the mailbox.
Please share me your suggestions and that would help me a lot .
Regards
S.NithyanandhamHi Winnie Liang ,
Thanks a lot for your reply.

During coexistence mail.domain.com will be pointed to exchange 2013 cas servers . I mean to say if we try to resolve the mail.domain.com it will get resolved in to the exchange 2013 cas servers.
So on such case if anything happened wrong to the new environment or else if entire environment goes down .Do we face any issues while outlook users connect to existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 ?
Because why i am asking is ,on the below mentioned article i have read all the autodiscover request will go via exchange 2013 cas servers during coexistence. That means all the existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 will also have to query exchange 2013 cas
servers for autodiscover request.During the whole exchange 2013 environemnt failure whenever the user tries to close and open outlook .Outlook will first queries the autodiscover service for any changes happened on that particular mailbox and it will try to
get it updated on user profile.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx
Would it be possible to make the exchange 2010 mailbox users to query only the scp points which belongs to the exchange 2010 cas servers for autodiscover request ?
Scenario 2: For exchange services
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2010 services (i.e owa, activesync, external outlook anywhere, pop, imap)
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2013 services (i.e owa, activesync, external outlook anywhere, pop, imap)
What about the above services will it get affected during whole exchange 2013 environment failure ?
Note : We are not facing this issue , i hope everything goes well in my environment while doing coexistence i am just asking this question on my own interest?

How to get clients connected in WMS on windows server 2008 with c# coding
Sorry to bother anyone about this question.
Can anyone knows how to retrieve amount of client connection to Windows Media Server in real time same as WMS does on server console by c# programming ?
I got logfiles of WMS in system32 directory for details but it must be off-line of all connections which will able to get those informations for doing anything, but in this case I want real time client connection
at online when a client connects to WMS that I will get amout of that client also.
I have tried to search Windows Media Service SDK to develop this on my Windows 7 OS,but I did not find that really.
Can anyone knows this,please ?
Regards,
BigBermHi SYaGCi,
Denis is right this is actually documented in the Supported Platforms Documentation:
"Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are new platform support additions in Service Pack 3 which are only available for support on the SP3 full release install of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. The SP3 patch only release of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise does not provide support for these two new platforms."
Kind regards,

Hi,
Trying to connect to a remote database which worked in 10.1.3 developer preview gives now:
Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12518, TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
From sqlplus I can connect. I don't have access to the remote database server/configuration. I tried the workarounds specified here
http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=139775.1
I deleted
ojdbc14dms.jar ojdbc14.jar
from jdeveloper and copied ojdbc14_g.jar from Oracle 10g release1 (renamed it to ojdbc14.jar). Then it worked.Hi,
Can you please check the below link from the forum too.

Unable to create SASL client connection for authentication mechanism [PLAIN
I have problem to use dscc to admin my ds/dps servers, since I the dscc can't contact dscc agent. Though the agent is running on the default port number with network-bind-port of 0.0.0.0, there is nothing I can do to fix it.
I debug the problem, and found following errors in server.log under dscc (deployed on SUN AS 8.2):

ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
guys,
i have a problem here with the connection between a client host and a server database, using a new non-default listener LISTENER_BKP_1. The error showed is:
ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
i had learned about this error here before, and i toke some notes as follows:

this means that it didn't reach the resource limites yet. What i can do to solve the problem ???
another important information is that connecting by the default listener LISTENER instead of the LISTENER_BKP_1 listener, the connection is completed successfully. There's enough SGA memory space too.

ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connectionDon't do Oracle on Windows, so I'm not sure how the following relates to the Listener dealing with a dedicated server connection request on Linux/Unix.
On Linux/Unix, a dedicated server request means just that - a dedicated process has to be started to service that client. The Listener does it by using the parameters of the configured listener.ora service to execute +$ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle+. This process then starts up, and the Listener hands off the client connection for this process for servicing.
If there is a failure somewhere on this series of steps fail, the Listener throws the ORA-12518 exception. For example, the +$ORACLE_HOME+ has been incorrectly configured in listener.ora and it fails to execute and startup a dedicated server process.
And this relates to the underlying error you are seeing:
TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directoryI think that the Listener on Windows uses the CreateRemoteThread() Win32 call to start up the server process thread. However, it needs a valid process identifier (of the existing Oracle instance) for this call - and thus needs to first identify the Oracle instance process. Could be that this step uses a ORACLE_HOME reference. And if that directory path is not valid, it is unable to identify the process id of the Oracle instance and thus unable to spawn a dedicated thread to service that client. -
Hi again,
I'm on my enterprise management console and Database Instance and Listener shows the green arrow, but the Agent Connection to Instance shows a red downward arrow and the error:
Status: Failed
Details: ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach)
My OraClrAgnt service is up and running (using winxp pro, oracle 11gR2), I'm on my home pc, all my ports are open (my machine's name is "abigail" and it is dmzhost)
Any suggestions to resolve this error?
