6.61 GB taken up by 16 apps?

I foolishly upgraded to iso4 on my 3g. First the disk space on the phone read a huge chunk was taken up by "other" now I it is telling me 6.6.gb is taken up by 16 apps. The largest app I have is 26.8 mb , 24 mb, 18.4 mb, 16.2, 14.7, 5.3, 5.2, 4.6, 3mb, 2.2, 1.2, 1.1, 98kb, 880kb, 628kb, and 316 kb. Maybe it adds up? but prior to iso4 I had alot of apps I used with no problem! now my phone is slow and I have no space to adding anything else.

That much other indicates a corrupted sync. Some people claim that syncing another song will clear it up. Most likely, you will have to restore your iPod. You can restore from your backup and all your settings will be retained. Music, videos and apps will be reloaded from iTunes.

  • When looking at how much room is taken up by audio, apps, etc. on your phone in iTunes, what is the "other" category?

When looking at how much room is taken up by audio, apps, etc. on your phone in iTunes, what is the "other" category?

"Other" contains documents and app data associated with apps.  It can also contain things like stored emails and browser history.  It's usually around 1-2gigs.  If it's any more than that, there's a chance that you have corrupted data on your iPad.  The only way to fix that problem is to restore your iPad to factory settings and start anew.

  • I Have an iPad 2 that is not sinced to anything and I don't use iTunes or icloud. I have only taken pictures using camera app. I have successfully deleted all pictures in the app, but my settings show 94 photos and 3 videos. Where are they?

why is my iPad showing that I have 94 pictures and 3 videos when my camera app shows zero? How do I locate the items the settings is indicating I have on the device? I have never sinced, I don't have any iTunes, and I don't use icloud.....

Thanks so much! My grandaughters played games on the iPad over Xmas and one of their moms said shed restricted their access! Guess they forgot to enable again. Thank you again! Karla

  • Settings general usage doesn't see space taken up by videos app.

settings-space-usage is not displaying space occupied by videos app.
consequently videos apps keeps eating up space. the only recourse is to backup the ipad and restore it.

  • I tried to open a file using reader 10. Now reader has taken over all my apps including explorer and live mail and nothing will open unless I uninstall reader. System is windows 7. How can I reverse this?

I was trying to open a file, the box came up saying that windows could not open the file and choose another program to open the file, I chose reader as it was the first option offered. Reader could not open the file either but when I closed the file I fount that nearly all the desktop  icons had changed to reader icons and when I tried to open them a box comes up advising that reader cannot open that file. The only way that I can open my apps is to uninstall reader. When I uninstall reader the Icons return to normal. As soon as I re install reader all my icons change back to reader icons. How can I reverse this?

    Hello rbmc25
If you are using iOS 7, then no they cannot easily just turn off Find My iPhone. If they do, then it will ask for the Apple ID password. If it is not showing up, then that means the device is not connected to the internet through cellular or Wi-Fi. Check out the article below on Activation Lock.

  • Looking for a specific photo app.

It is an app that's used along with Instagram.   The photos I've seen are clearly edited with instagram, then there is a square white frame around it with "May 82" at the bottom (just an example, I believe the months change).   As you can see in the picture, the instagram frame has been applied. They must have taken it to another app and added this border.  I think it's a neat effect and have asked the person whom this picture belongs to, and they ignored me.  So after a long time browsing the app store, I hope someone here can help!

The outer brown outline is just the background from the website I saw this on.  Only look at the white frame.  Then you can see the black frame around the photo.  Please help!!

  • Ipod Touch Gen 2 App Update Issue :(

    Hi,
I have an iPod Touch gen 2, recently it has stopped updating my apps. When I click on "update," it will ask me for my password, the it'll say "waiting" with the little bar, then the icon will return to normal, but no update has taken place and the App Store icon will show the original number of updates. I have turned the wifi on and off and rebooted many times.
If I do a restore from iTunes, do I lose all game progresses?
    Help please.

Can you update the apps pn your computer?
Your game progresses are part of the backup data. In order to save them before you restore, back up manually by right clicking on your device in the device list and choosing "backup". A backup without a sync process will be performed. See what else is part of the backup here: iPhone and iPod touch: About backups
Saving data and restoreing "as new ipod" is also described here: How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • App Store and 10.6.8 - What a Mess

I know this appears in many discussions in this area, but I have searched the web and tried everything I could find to no avail.  I will note what I have done below, so if anyone has anymore ideas that have worked, I would appreciate the lead.  Hopefully, Apple will be working to fix this in 10.6.8, as I am seeing the same problem all over the web.
I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro.  My intention was to dload Lion, excited to install the new OS.  I launch the App Store, and it launches fine.  I go to purchase and dload Lion, and it just sits and spins.  Nothing ever is purchased or dloaded.  I check the "Purchased" applications in the store, and it indicates I have not purchased anything yet.  Out of curiosity, I try to dload another app, a free one, from the App Store, and I get the same thing.  This is an App Store problem generally, not specifically related to the purchase and dload of Lion.  Based on ideas from the web, I have tried the following (none of these have worked at all - problem still exists exactly the same):
    1.  Dloaded the 10.6.8 Combo updater.  Installed.  Rebooted.  Didn't work.
    2.  Deleted the App Store application.  Rebooted.  Installed 10.6.8 Combo updater.  Robooted. App Store launches - still same problem.
    3.  Edited my apple.com.Boot.plist in Libarary/Preferences/SystemConfiguration as suggested online - also deleted the NetworkInterfaces.plist (in the same folder).  Rebooted.  Started the App Store.  App Store launches - still the same problem.
    4.  Logged into the App Store with a few different usernames (even created a new one).  Still same problem.
    5.  Logged into the App Store and re-verified my security code on my credit card (on all of my iTunes accounts).  Still same problem.
    6.  Started iTunes and made sure I was logged out of the account I am trying to purchase with in the App Store.  Lauch App Store with that username and try to purchase.  Still the same problem.
    7.  Started iTunes and logged into the account I am trying to use on the App Store.  In iTunes, re-verified my security code on my credit card there.  Logged out of the account in iTunes.  Lauched the App Store using this account.  Still same problem.
    8.  I did successfully purchase, dload, and install Lion on my Mac Pro at work.  I have logged into the App Store from my MacBook Pro using this same account.  When I go into Purchased, it does show there with an "Intall" button adjacent.  When I click the "Install" button, I basically get the same reaction.  The App Store sits and spins, but nothing is dloaded or installed.
Again, I know there are a lot of posts on this issue.  However, the summary items above is a list of ideas I have found on the web.  Each item comes from suggestions I have found on the web.  I have tried each to no avail at all.  I have rebooted diligently as system changes have taken place.  The App Store launches fine.  The store basically just spins and no purchase or dload occurs.
P.S. When I go into the Console under Utilities, I do get an error message over and over from the App Store.  It is the following:
    7/25/11 8:52:09 AM          [0x0-0x29029].com.apple.appstore[337]          Mon Jul 25 08:52:09 MacBookPro.local App Store[337] <Error>: CGBitmapContextGetBitsPerComponent: invalid context 0x101b86680
7/25/11 8:52:09 AM          [0x0-0x29029].com.apple.appstore[337]          This isn't a bitmap context. Forcing destination format to ARGB_8 for CGContext.
    7/25/11 8:52:09 AM          App Store[337]          CGBitmapContextGetBitsPerComponent: invalid context 0x101b86680
I have searched this error online and tried a few suggestions.  However, I still receive the same error in the Console and the App Store behaves the same.

Actually, your suggestion is one of the first I tried.  I created a brand new user account using my wife's email.  It had the same problem.
However, if anyone has the exact same issue as mine (e.g. you have installed it elsewhere successfully), it looks like I have sucessfully worked around it.  Here is what I did (am doing):
    1.  On the computer where I successfully accessed the App Store, dloaded and installed Lion, I logged back into the App Store with a different username.  From there, I re-purchased Lion (which I am fine with, as it is not overly expensive and I will be running the OS on two different computers).
    2.  Lion successfully downloaded
    3.  Lion will then try to begin installation - which you won't want to do (at least I didn't as I already having running on this machine)
    4.  The Lion installer will show on your dock.  If you right click it, you will be able to select Open in Finder.  When finder opens, I moved the "Install Mac OS X Lion" application to my desktop (just easier for me to find)
    5.  Next I used Toast (or any other CD/DVD burning program) to burn the "Install Mac OS X Lion" application to a DVD.  You will need to use a DVD as it is about 3.5 GB.
    6.  Once complete, I put the DVD into my MacBook Pro and copies the "Install Mac OS X Lion" application to the desktop of my MacBook Pro (remember, this the computer I could not access the App Store from)
    7.  Once the application is copied to the desktop, simply double-click it and it will begin the install.  From there, just follow the instructions on the screen.
A bit convoluted - and I'm sure there are more efficient steps to do this.  I just wanted to outline how I did it.  In any event, I am now running Lion on my MacBook Pro after three days of trying to figure it out.  Good luck!

  • Non iPhone camera app photos not showing up in iPhoto

When I connect my iPhone 4 to my MacBook, iPhoto only shows thumbnails of photos taken with the camera app.
Thumbnails taken with a third party app show up as empty hash border boxes and I am not able to import them. Why is this? It's dam annoying. I should be able to get hold of any images on my iPhone regardless of what app I used.
(Note photos are always stored on the iPhone in the Photo Gallery)

It's a bug, I think. Many people have reported it on the iPhoto forum, so you might search for a solution there.
See if Image Capture in your Applications folder lets you download all the photos to your hard drive. Worst-case, copy and paste them into an email to send yourself.

  • On iPhone 6, How do I display the date, time, and location where a photo was taken

On my previous iPhone (4S), I used the "Info' option in iPhoto to see where and when a photo was taken. I have a new phone (iOS 8.3) and iPhoto is not supported, so I have to use the Photos app. I cannot figure out how to see where and when a photo was taken in the Photos app. Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.

    Hello there, marklewis.
When wanting to find location information of photos on your iOS device in iOS 8, the online User Guide provides some great information for how to search:
View photos and videos - iPhone
View by location. While viewing by year or by collection, tap . Photos and videos that include location information appear on a map, showing where they were taken.
While viewing a photo or video, tap to show and hide the controls. Swipe left or right to go forward or backward.
Search photos. From Albums or Photos, tap to search by date (month and year), or place (city and state). Search also keeps your Recent Searches on hand and gives you a list of suggested searches.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Photo app is showing right order while iPhoto app isn't

    Hi,
Today I bought iPhoto for my iPad. I really like the app and the features it has! I imported a bunch of photo's from itunes (aperture) to my iPad. The normal Photo app is showing the events and the photo's in it in the right order. The date the pictures were taken. The iPhoto app is not showing this right order. I don't know which order it does show, but my photo's are in a very strange order. It is also not sorted by title.
When I make an album in the photo app (because this isn't possible in the iphoto app) this is also showing the right order. When I open the iPhoto app the album shows up, but the photo's are in the same strange order as the events folder.
Not only the pictures in my event folders are in disorder but also the events itself are not showing the right order. The normal photo app is doing this fine.
I hope someone can help me with this!
    Best regards

This is a common complaint for iPhoto for iOS. Photos arranged one way in albums in the Photo app are arranged differently when those same albums are viewed in iphoto for iOS. So far there is no way to correct this. I was hoping the an iPhoto for iOS would correct this. Perhaps it might some time in the future but the iPhoto for iOS update that was released recently did not address this problem.
