6 Port iPad sync/charge/storage Solution

We are working on a large deployment across a number of workgroups at different locations. The ideal size of the wall mounted sync/charging/storage solution would be 6 port.(1 for each Workgroup, which would hold 4-6 devices)  It doesn't look like Datamation or Ergotron has anything like that.  Has anyone seen one that might be the size we are looking for? Thanks in Advance.

Hi Bonesaw1962,
I haven't seen anything that small. Most wall mounted cabinets I've seen hold 15-20 and are charge only (no syncing). Here are a few that I've used or have heard good things about when I was researching charging cabinets: Anthro Charging Cabinet (we have a bunch of these in our school district...need the extra hub for syncing), Lock N Charge iQ Wall Cage (this one syncs and charges), Bretford Core 10s (doesn't look like this one syncs so you'd need a hub for that), Griffin MultiDock (I have their old version which offers both syncing and charging... but looks like the new one doesn't)....
Hope this helps. Good luck!
~Joe

  • IPad not charging nor syncing

My iPad stop charging today and I don't know why. It's not my plug or cord because it charges my iPad. I've even tried turning it off and resetting it but it still won't charge. What wrong with it? When I plug it to the computer it doesn't get detected for sync or anything. It doesn't charge plugged to the wall or computer. Whats wrong?

Try a different cord just to rule that out. Then I'd take it to an Apple store and have them look at it. I had the USB port on my iPad go bad on me, so it does happen.
Before you take it in make sure you e-mail off anything you can't stand ot lose.

  • Multiple iPad Mini Sync/Charge

Will this http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/eecf/ Sync/Charge 26 iPad Minis? i will be using a 2.3 GHz Retina MBP with Apple Configurator to Sync them.

The Mondo hub shows an output of 4A.  If you have 28 devices plugged into it, it will provide less than 143mA per port (probably less because the device itself uses some power).
That is a LOT less than what is required to charge iPad minis which need at least 1A.  In fact, it is a lot less than you need for most standard USB devices, which assume 500mA for a standard port.  Hubs like this are not made to provide charge current, but this one has so little that, with more than 8 devices, even syncing might fail spectacularly because it is so underpowered.
For the kind of application you want, you should really get something more professional, such as the hubs sold by Datamation Systems.  Just look them up on-line. I think some are even available on Amazon, but they have other choices that may not be there.  They are more expensive but they assure 2.1A and the right kind of sync current for every port, which is enough for iPads as well.

Well ... the charger is the original charger and just checked and confirmed it is a 5.1V charger. How come? Next is why when i connect my iPad via original usb cable, no response from macbook pro? used to sync with iTunes now totally dead.

How can I get it to charge beyond 1% so I can proceed to troubleshoot?

I have had your exact problem with my old 3GS, now I cannot even get it to turn on, I still see that it is supposed to be charging though, but it never charges any so it seems.
I replaced the Lower Dock Connector Assembly back when it still charged while hooked to my PC, and it found it made no real difference.

At this point I am not sure if I should replace the battery and hope for the best, or just junk the phone, I cannot really sell it if I cannot reset it...

  • IPad no charging/syncing

iPad will not charge! I am using the charger that came with the iPad. When connected it states "not charging". I know it is charging at a slower rate and also when connected to pc, iTunes does no recognize it. I can not sync! iPad will charge with my iPhone charger.I tried using iPhone USB to connect iPad to pc and it still does not recognizes the iPad.

You could try restarting the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up, hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Try to charge now.
You could try resetting the iPad as well. Press and hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time for about 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider. Try charging.
Also - try to connect to iTunes again after restarting/resetting. If you still have no luck ..... Read this about the device not being recognized in iTunes.

  • Can't get ipad to charge in car ups port

Can't get ipad to charge in ups port in car all other phone and others charge

    ups port?  You mean USB?
USB ports do not provide enough power to charge iPads.  iPhones and other smaller devices need less power so can charge.
If your car has a cigarette lighter port you can get an adapter for it to charge the iPad. Those put out more power than the USB ports.

  • "iPad not charging Connect to a power adapter or a USB port on this mac to charge" Maverick issue!

Ever since we updated to mavericks our deployment of 60 iPad's flashes "iPad not charging Connect to a power adapter or a USB port on this mac to charge" on the screen every time one is plugged in. It is a false alarm because the iPad does in fact trickle charge and it does update the device like it is supposed to. At this point it's more of an annoyance then an actual problem. However I would like it to stop popping up every time one is plugged in.
Does anybody have any ideas to stop it?

Your computer USB port typically provides only 2.5W of power. iPads require 10-12W of charging power. That's why you get the "Not Charging" message. However, the iPad is charging, but much slower. There's no way to stop it.

  • While charging ipad, not enough storage message appeared. Now ipad is locked and is unresponsive. How can I unlock ipad?

while charging ipad, not enough storage message appeared. Now ipad is locked and is unresponsive. How can I unlock ipad?

Not enough storage space. Do you backup to icloud? When you plug your ipad into charge it backs up to icloud. Your out of icloud storage. Could be the reason.
Locked....hmm... Did you try a reboot? Hold the home and power button(same time) till the screen goes black and apple logo appears. Ignore red sliders.

  • Has anyone ever experienced the situation where plugging in the USB connector to the charging source (high-power USB port or Apple charger) halfway, then pressing it in firmly, results in the iPad not charging?

Has anyone ever experienced the situation where plugging in the USB connector to the charging source (high-power USB port or Apple charger) halfway, then pressing it in firmly, results in the iPad not charging?

It's highly likely that there is a poor connection in the phone - either a pin in the dock connector or internal wiring harness.  No software fixes or "tricks" would work, but I would recommend restoring in iTunes, first using a backup and if needed restore as a new phone.
Otherwise, opening and repairing the phone takes some tech knowledge that can't be relayed here.  Apple doesn't repair phones other than replacing batteries (not inconceivable that you have a bad battery), but offers "out-of-warranty" replacement (refurb) phones for $149 (US).  3rd party iPhone repair centers may be able to fix it for less.  Google to find them,
    Tried soft and hard resets
FYI, there's no such thing as "soft" or "hard" resets in iPhone terminology.  There is only one phone reset. You'll see those terms thrown around by technically ignorant posters, but they mean different things to different people and are actually archaic, 1980s PC terms that have nothing to do with iPhones.
See the User Guide, Appendix B.

  • My ipad won't start up. I downloaded iTunes on my pc while my iPad was charging - could this have caused the problem? I don't want to restore to factory settings and lose data. Any ideas or solutions? Thanks, Linda

My ipad won't start up.  I downloaded iTunes on my pc while my iPad was charging - could this have caused the problem? I don't want to restore to factory settings and lose data. I also recently successfully paired my ipad with a bluetooth keypad. Any ideas or solutions? Thanks, L

FYI, your iPad will charge much faster if you plug it directly into an electrical outlet.
When doing the reset, as Jackkcc suggests, make sure you let go of both buttons fairly promptly after the apple image appears, then wait another 10 seconds or so for the iPad to start up.  Note that a reset does not alter any data or settings.

  • IPad sync connection to MacBook Air flapping

When I plug my iPad Air into my mid-2103 MacBook Air 11", the sync connection begins flapping right away. iTunes recognizes it for a second or two and starts the sync process in and the iPad starts charging, and then the connection drops. And then it connects. And then it drops. Ad nauseum.
I unplug it and plug it back in and it continues. I plug it into the other USB port and it continues. And after unplugging and plugging it back in several times, the iPad locks up. But after I do a reset on the iPad and connect it, it syncs fine.
Has been happening every time I try to sync for at least the last several months.
Looking for a solution or a nudge in the right direction.

iPad starts charging, and then the connection drops
Try a different USB cable from the iPad to your Mac to test.
Have you thought of using iCloud to sync data between your Mac and iPad instead? That way you don't have to connect the iPad to your Mac and sync using iTunes.
Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.
You get 5GB's of storage for free.

How can I import all my gmail contacts into iPad? I use iPad mini and the solutions available on the web are not compatible.

Hello and thanks for the answer.
I meant by "not compatible" that all the solutions that I found on the web did not work, especially the "Microsoft exchange" one.
Fortunately I found on the comments of the first website you mentioned the right answer for me, which I copy below:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDav Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
    Server: google.com
User Name: Enter your full Google email address
    Password: Your Google account password
Select Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.
    Additional Information
Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings), and that the port is 443.
If you are using application based special password go to https://accounts.google.com/Se... and instead of your password put that special code and u r done.

  • TS1286 Hi! I can't get my IPad to charge when it's powerd on. HELP! :)

Hi! I can't get my IPad to charge when it's powerd on. It only charges when it's powerd off and it takes a while. Also, I can't sync at all. PC doesn't reconize it. Has anyone here had this problem that can give me a hint of what is going on?
    Thanks a lot!

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My mini iPad stop charging at 88%

I just purchased an iPad mini online in December. The first few charging of the battery seems ok but lately it will only charge to 88% and stop charging. Did anyone experienced this? Is there a solution for this or I shall return it for an exchange?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
