60 gb Ipod wiped itself (but is still full) ......

Hey
I've a 60gb video ipod which decided to pretend there's nothing on it even though the memory is still full. Now this has happened before on my 20gb and I used 'longfingers ipodfolder' to extract all the music, reset my ipod and then reload all the music back onto it! Worked like a dream.
My problem now is the videos which I had stored on my ipod. Is there a way of getting those back? Very grateful for any help as I had alot of videos and of course, I've no backup!

You may have some success with this. Not guaranteed though.

Its probably just as you said, it's dead. I mean the battery.
I have a second generation iPod and the battery doesn't hold a charge long. So yours must be really struggling with the battery.
You can send it off for a battery replacement, or as is expected due to the cost of doing that and with standard manipulative business thinking, you could just get a new iPod like a good little customer.

  • Try to take my iPod off hold but it still says its on hold but it's not? I can't use the wheel

I have tried to take my iPod off hold but even though I flick the switch it is still on hold. So the wheel won't work. What should I do?

it sounds like a broken hold switch.  you should be able to google ipod repair and find a place that will replace the switch for you.

  • HELP! iTunes Sais My iPod is Corrupted, But Music Still Plays

I plugged in my iPod, and iTunes sais it is corrupted and to restore it, Windows sais it is corrupted also. But all the music and videos still play. I don't want to restore my iPod because my iTunes library got damaged and whenever I import all the songs again, it just gets damaged in a day. So I don't know what to do. Anyway I can fix it?
It is the 5.5g iPod video, Windows XP, Intel Celeron D, 2.8ghz, Dell Dimension 1100, 1gb RAM. Itunes 7.0.1, and the firmware is the newest on the iPod, when I plug the ipod into iTunes it sais: "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with Itunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.". And when I click on the iPod's drive letter in My Computer it sais the disk is not formatted, and it gives an option to do so. But all the music and videos still play fine on the iPod.

I have the same problem... But after HOURS of trying any and all apple support/user submited suport ideas (all failed) i finaly broke down and restored my iPod. But it did nothing, all it did was instead of my iPod "booting" up and i could listen to my music (that was now skipping thanks to iTunes 7) i get a screen with a picture with the http://www.apple.com/support/ipod URL.... So now i have a $400 peice of junk just sitting their thanks to iTunes... isn't life great?

  • IPod wiped itself, freezes the computer

Hey my iPod now doesnt work, it sometimes turns on properly, sometimes it doesnt. It has wiped all its music, although the info option states that it still has 18.3gb used. Whenever i plug it into the computer the comp freezes up and if it doesnt it slows down until i run anything to do with the iPod which then causes the computer to freeze. Therefore i dont know how to fix it. Any ideas would be very appreciated...

    Hi,
When connecting to your network via the computer, insure you set sharing to enabled. Turning off sharing when connecting to your network in Win 8 can sometimes cause a disconnect

  • Ipod mini erased, but library still there

How do I get the songs from my library back on my ipod mini? Put a new hard drive in computer and now it wants to sync or something and that is how my ipod originally got erased along with the library too. Was able to restore library from old hard drive (transferred to new hard drive), but cannot get ipod to load the library now. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

You should be seeing this when you connect your iPod to iTunes.
If the songs are in your iTunes library, and you have the iPod set to automatic transfer, then click "yes" to that message and iTunes will load the songs to your iPod.

  • IPod is empty but says it is full, iTunes won't recognize it

    Hello,
I have a click wheel 4th (?) generation 80gb ipod. Yesterday my ipod froze so I attempted to reboot it. Instead of holding down the menu/centre keys at the same time, I held down play/centre keys by accident. Anyhow, the ipod restarted fine but when I scrolled down I noticed that there was no music! I thought I must have just erased everything somehow, but then when I checked the settings tab my ipod said it was completely full, not by songs though, or videos, but by "other". I connected it to my computer but itunes won't read it. It does appear in Windows Explorer and in My Computer though, but when I try to open it to see what's on the ipod both the programs freeze. I've tried all the restore methods I can, have switched to disc mode and diagnostic mode, etc, and have followed the steps listed in the reformat/restore articles on this site. I've also reinstalled the ipod drivers to make sure that it's connected to my computer normally (my computer recognizes it, and identifies it as an ipod, but itunes isn't interested in believing this apparently). I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to somehow restore or even format an ipod without using itunes. And also, if I was able to completely reformat my ipod (which would make it a blank piece of hardware, correct?) is it then possible to reload all the menu software, etc., just using itunes?
I realise that all my songs and files are certainly lost, but just getting it back functioning with itunes would surely make my day!
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.
    Adam.

the bar at the bottom of itunes says (when ipod is
    connected)

I have nothing on any playlist or library on itunes
and my ipod had nothing on it. When i try to add
songs the message pops up saying i dont have enough
    free space.
I have the same issue. I have updated software and restored Ipod...but it still says it has 1.82GB available (which is wierd because it's a 2GB model) and will only let me download 1.57GB.

I recently bought an Ipod touch 2nd gen, (Ebay). It's in great shape and seemed to be wiped clean.
When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.
I purchased a song with Itunes on the Ipod itself, and it transferred to my library on the computer automatically .
I have an Iphone 5 and a nano that are still functioning with Itunes thru computer so I'm thinking the issue is with the Ipod touch. I've reset it several times, rebooted it, with no change.
nothing on the internet has helped, I called tech support and got disconnected. Should I take it to a retail store? I just don't know where to go next, I'm of course willing to pay for tech or repair. looking for suggestions.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod wont turn on anymore. I have had my iPod since the end of January of 2012, Last night it shut off on me. It keeps trying to reboot itself, but all it does it show the apple symbol, then the screen goes white and reboots again. I need help. :(

    Hi, My name is Cassie.
I bought my iPod off of amazon just around the end of January of this year (2012). Last night I was playing around on my iPod. Listening to pandora, and editing pictures. I got to a picture and clicked edit, and then my iPod shut off. It rebooted itself and seemed to be running as if nothing had happened. I put my music back on and went back to the picture and tried to edit it again. I clicked the edit button and the ipod shut off again. This time, it kept rebooting. It went to the apple symbol to turn on and about thirty seconds, the time it normally takes to turn on, the whole screen went white and then shut off and tried rebooting again. It kept doing this over and over again. After a while, it did eventually stop, but only to a completely white screen. It was like that all night long because I fell asleep. (gave up on it). It is now the afternoon and after I held the lock button and the home button down the screen when off. I let it sit for about a half an hour, then I tried turning it on again. But it still is doing the same thing. I have no idea what I could have done to make it do this. Unfortunalty, I am not home to connect it to my own iTunes, but regaurdless, it wont even connect to the computer. I did have my ipod plugged in the whole time it was rebooting and shutting off last night. It was connected to my wall jack which normally works fine. But even having it plugged into the computer as it is now, its still doing the same thing. I am dissapointed that I might end up loosing everything that I have on it. I have not been able to sync it to my computer to save all the apps and pictures and music I have stored on it. I really do hope I can get some help or advice!
    Thank You!!
    -Cassie Lawrence

  • IPod Classic wiped itself & is no longer recognised in iTunes

iPod Classic, 80GB, from Dec 2007.
Plugged iPod in to laptop as normal (Acer Aspire 7730ZG, using WIN7 Ultimate at the time) & tried to add an album. Process froze & iPod would not update. It would not respond within iTunes, so I manually ejected via Windows. Upon ejection, the iPod reset itself & wiped all content & settings.
Since then, the iPod is not recognised by iTunes & is inaccessible. The iPod is recognised as a device in Windows, but I cannot format it or run any diagnostics via Properties. Each time I eject the iPod it resets itself as well.
I have tried various solutions that have previously been posted, but no luck so far. iPod can be put in Disk Mode, but just sits at 'Do not disconnect' (again, is recognised by Windows as a removable device).
iPod diagnostics gives me the following:
    Retracts: 201
    Reallocs: 4
    Pending Sectors: 6
    PowerOn Hours: 1007
    Start/Stops: 167
    Temp: Current 31c
    Temp: Min 12c
    Temp: Max 47c
    Any advice/help is much appreciated!

Hmm. I was having problems with one of my iPods recently that in the past I've fixed by simply wiping the hard drive. The DFU restore worked quickly for me once I was told about it but prior to that I had reformatted the drive using EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition (Free). Perhaps that had some useful effects after all. It may also be a good idea to disable any real-time anti-virus products while you do the update in case they are interfering with the process.

  • Ipod earased music but itunes shows that it's still on the ipod

I synced my ipod just two days and listened to it yesterday. I downloaded a song on iTunes and when I went to sync it, my iPod was wiped clean but when I hook it up to iTunes, iTunes shows that al the songs are still on there, to include the new song. I didn't accidentally, or deliberately, erase or delete anything. Please advise.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsyncdelete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Download to your iTunes library and
    - First try syncing to the iPod
    - Next backup the iPod to iTunes and then restore from backup. See:

Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here.
