60-minute recorded program stops at the 49-minute mark

On Tuesday, our DVR (QIP2708)- recorded a regularly-scheduled show from 8:00 to 9:00. In the DVR's recorded programs, it showed as 59 minutes, 45 seconds (roughly). Watched the show until about the 49-minute mark, but the recording stopped abruptly and returned to the DVR menu. Hitting "resume playback" results in the last 2-3 seconds playing, then it just returns to the menu.
I tried fast-forwarding and skipping to the end, with no positive result. Once it gets to this 49-minute mark, it just stops, even though the progress bar shows a 59-minute recording. I manually reset the STB with no luck. Even tried watching on a remote STB but the result was the same. There's no error message displayed; the recording just stops.
It seems, just before the issue happens at the 49-minute mark, that the recorded program starts "skipping frames". I'd almost say that the video frames are "out of sync".
We had no power outage on Tuesday, and as far as I know, everything "FiOS" was working fine, as we were watching another program at the time this recording was taking place and we're constantly using a PC someplace in the house. I'm suspecting the recorded file is just corrupt, but I'm wondering if anybody else has seen this problem....?
I can go back and finish watching the show via the broadcast network's online library, but feel I shouldn't have to do that. I'm also wondering if this is indicative of a hard-drive problem in the DVR. (Certainly, if it appears more often, I'll request a replacement.)
Any insight greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Now is this the only program where you've experienced this issue? Can you test a few other programs and see if you get similar results? If the problem is on-going, then yes we can easily ship you out a replacement DVR. It's possible the channel had an outage and went off the air for a short bit aswell so could be a freak occurance.

  • The record has stopped because the audio format has changed

I am using a JVC 9500E onto an XP pro machine with CS3 nothing else large empty hard drive. Firewire.
Bringing a recording which was taken in one go with no changes - at 48Khz. PAL nothing odd - just continually opauses every 5-360 seconds with the error
The record has stopped because the audio format has changed.
    using TAPe and Scene detect.
    anyone got any ideas?

I know this is way too late and not really an answer, but I've had the same kinds of problems with PP2's capture function on 3 different decks on 2 different motherboards and 4 different OSes.
My work involves capturing and repairing problematic and old or damaged tapes of all kinds. I understand that there will be some errors (tape stretch, breakage, etc) that can't be handled by the deck/camera hardware directly, and I have no problems with having to manually cue past such issues.
But for otherwise fine and undamaged tapes, for PP2 to suddenly cease capturing, prompting to save less than 2 seconds' worth of video when all that happened was some minor tape noise or an audio frame missing is unhelpful at best and crippling otherwise. It's got to the point that PP2 is completely useless to me, when only the most pristine tapes with the most minimal of problems can be reliably captured.
Since I've used the same hardware (cables, decks) to capture 1200+ hours of "through" footage (i.e. not MiniDV tape playback) without major problems, on the current system alone, that would seem to indicate that the system/cable/deck hardware is fine, it's the problem frame handling that's broken. When 3 different deck/camera manufacturers all react to the same tape problems in the exact same way (at least, for the few common tapes that I've had the ability to test on all 3 decks, all else being equal), that doesn't seem to me to indicate a manufacturer or model problem at all.
However, Adobe's support response in each case (audio drops or minor tape dropouts) is "get the camera repaired by an authorised repairer". (It would seem that I'm an example of a particularly unlucky customer, buying 3 brand-new top-of-the-line 'duds' from 3 different manufacturers in as many years! What are the odds? I should buy a Lotto ticket...) That kind of support response is a real pity, since using the basic transport functionality outside PP2 seems to work perfectly for all but the most severe tape problems, but only using anything except PP2.
To try to tell me that this is a deck hardware failure each time I've raised the same type of problem is disingenuous at best. But that's another story.
The workaround (and yes, there is one!) is to use anything else except Premiere Pro 2.0 for any MiniDV capture operation. It's much easier to use VLC or Nero to perform flawed tape capture, and then use the otherwise sensational editing prowess of PP2 to fix the problems later.
    Pity.

  • TS1424 The song I purchased stops at the 0:56 mark when I play it. (didnt edit anything)

I just bought a song.  Right after it was finished downloading, I listen to it. At the 0:56 mark, it "ends" and goes to the next song, much like if I went to "Get Info" and changed the end time of the song, even though I didnt.  Any Help? Thanks

  • TS1884 What if the Safe Boot progress bar stops (around the 25%-30% mark)? Any other alternatives I have to get my MAcBook Pro to boot without running into an error?

    Hi,
after starting my MacBook Pro I was faced with a grey screen stating that "an error has occurred, you need to restart your computer". I did that multiple times but the same message appeared each time. So I started the Safe Boot. Now the progress bar is stuck at the 25-30% progress mark since 30 min. Any advise on what to do from here?
Any help and advise is much appreciated!

I doubt that shutting it off will do any harm but don't do it too often.

  • Can't Watch Recorded Programs from Other TVs

I recently had to replace my Verizon box that controls my main TV.  Of course I lost all of my recorded programs.  But the big issue is that now I cannot watch programs recorded on my main TV on the other two TVs that I have.  Before the replacement I was able to watch recorded programs on any TV.  Verizon also replaced my router as I had a very old one that was installed four or five years ago.
Can you help me with the remote TVs with regards to being able to watch recorded programs from the main TV box?
    Thank you,
    Hugh

The iPhone records video in the H.264 video codec, which should be included as part of your install of Quicktime. What version of Quicktime are you running? You might check and see if there is an update that you might need to install. Do you have problems playing videos on the Apple Movies Trailer website? If yes, then you might be missing the H.264 codec for some reason. If no, then maybe the file is getting corrupted somehow when you copy it from your iPhone to your PC. I've has instances where a file said it finished copying and I tried to play it and couldn't (I got the same message you got from Quicktime), so I copied the file again and the file worked the second time.

  • Half way through a recording it stops and I get a can't process message?

I forget exactly what the message says but it has something to do with the processing. The recording process stops and the message pops up.
Can somebody at least point me in the right direction in the manual or tell me what to do. Do I need to clear something out or up the memory or what?
    Thanks

  • Recording unexpectedly stopped

p.s. I should have said in my new thread just posted, also as 'recording unexpectedly stopped', that the issue below refers to a recording made in GarageBand :
I was recording the first part of the Ring Cycle from the Proms this evening, from my radio tuner  via a Belkin RCA Audio Cable into the 'audio in' port.
I selected a 'basic track' and set the tempo to 80 bpm. The broadcast was 2½ hrs long, and I understood 80 bpm should give me somewhere between 5½ hrs and 11 hrs, which should have been more than enough time.
However, about 2 hrs into the recording it suddenly stopped with a message something to the effect that the file capacity of 2GB had been exceeded.
But when I clicked the 'record' button again, it nevertheless continued to record.
The next opera in the Cycle is tomorrow afternoon. If someone could present a solution before then, I would be extremely grateful !

Thanks : the link you gave for sunflower in your previous post opened a completely different site to the link in your latest post.
I'm afraid your suggestions and what I read on the website are above my competence or comprehension
    levels !
If I can't find a way round GB quitting with the message . . .
‘File size limit reached. Audio recordings are limited to a file size of 2 gigabytes. This recording has reached the file size limit. Recording will stop, and the recording up to this point will be preserved'
. . . . then I want an application that is as similar as possible in terms of connecting to a radio broadcast, recording, editing and saving to iTunes or burning to CD.

  • I purchased a song.  It stops playing at the 2 sec mark.  How do I get a playable version without paying again?

I bought a song on i-tunes last night.  It stops playing at the 2 second mark, and then starts over at the beginning.  Now when I preview the song in i-tunes (it says "play" and not "preview" now), it does the same thing--stops at the 2 second mark and starts back at the beginning.
How do I get a playable version of the song without purchasing it again?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Blu-Ray Stops Playing at 1st Chapter Marker

I am battling an issue I cannot get my arms around.  I have a 3-hour video that I have sent From Premier Pro (CS4) to Encore via Adobe Link.
In Encore I rendered the video as a Blu-Ray image and set the play parameters to make the disc auto-playing.  That is the DVD has no menu start page.  The First Play is set to the beginning of the timeline, and the End action is STOP.
I do not have any Overrides set at all in my Encore project.  I have checked both the disc and the timeline panels, and Override is set to "Not Set" in both cases.
I have Encore Chapter Markers at the origin of the timeline and at every day thereafter of an 18 day trip.
The .iso image file produced by Encore was then copied to discs using CyberLink Power2Go.
When the (Blu-Ray) DVD is put into a player, it starts fine but then terminates play at the 1st marker after play starts (this is actually the 2nd timeliine marker, as the first is at the origin, or zero point) about 9 minutes into the DVD.
When I examine the Stream file  (BDMV>STREAM>00000.m2ts) on the disc, it does contain the entire video, and it plays just fine.
Thus I am assuming that something has not correctly constructed the playlist scripts causing the playback to start at the beginning but STOP at the first Chapter marker it encounters after starting play.
Any thought on how to debug and fix this issue will be GREATLY appreciated!!
PS - I just opened this Encore project and used the Preview function to play the video.  The preview STOPS also at the first chapter marker (9 minutes into the video) exactly as in the finished DVD.
I can find nothing unusual about this marker, but it is obviously the culprit!

OK.  I think I found the issue but not sure why!
When I set the project up in Encore in the Flowchart window I set the Timeline icon (linked to by the disc as the 1st play item) to an End Action of STOP.
Since it was the entire timeline that was my 1st play asset, I assumed that the STOP End Action would be at the end of the DVD.
BUT, apparently it Stops when it encounters the first Marker.
If I go to the Timeline in Encore and click on the individual Markers, all of them but the first one have an End Action of "Not Set" but the first one has "Stop".
I have just changed that 1st (at the timeline origin) Marker's End Action to "Not Set" and the last Marker to "Stop"
I'm guessing this will fix it.  Will report back after I preview things.

Trying to copy ANY file from my MacBook Pro to an external hard drive spins for 45 minutes then fails. I hate this computer and WISH I never would have wasted my money. Any ideas? WD My Passport 2TB Drive, had to buy a program to make the POS read files. Copies that would take seconds from a Windows based machine never complete. I have to close the transfer or shut off the machine half the time. Worst computer I have EVER owned, crashes non-stop, constantly freezes, and seems like EVERY operation is more complicated with this thing. Literally, my 1997 Compaq was FAR MORE reliable and user friendly.

This is one of the messages I keep getting; The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in -- File Whatever -- can’t be read or written.(Error code -36)
I have copied things to the hard drive in the past, but it has always been incredibly slow, and now just seems to freeze and fail

  • "recording stopped because the format of the source media changed" Error

I am trying to import video from my digital camera via firewire to quicktime...
the New movie recording screen appears and works, but after a random amount of time (normally just around 4 minutes..) the recording stops and the message appears..
"recording stopped because the format of the source media changed"
I have plenty of disk space, and am sending the output vid to the desktop..
please help.. I have spent 3 days trying to record the vid...
I cannot import via imovie because I want to have the sound come from a different source then the movie.. i.e. Quicktime lets me get vid from DV and sound from "saffire" sound card..
    Thanks

So does the HC3 and I have to re-set the camcorder output to match the capture settings each time I switch modes. However, I don't use QT for capture since the ability to maintain frame rate is dependent on the platform's CPU power. As you feel the problem is tied to your use of QT Pro, why not download and try the free Vidi dedicated capture utility.
I'll check out vidi. I'm not familiar with it. I've been using this same method to capture clips for several years. I pretty much set the camera once and never have to mess with it again. I don't switch the mode at all during the day.

  • Audio Recording automatically stop every 5 minutes

    Hi there,
I use Torch 9810 to record conversation (client meeting) , once I press "record button" it works fine but recording automatically stop every 5 minutes, e.g. if meeting last 1 hour I will have to press "record" button 12 times (every 5 minutes). So annoying!!!
Does anyone know if it is possible to disable this constraint (5 minutes) in 9810?
    Thanks in advance
    Lee

  • I have 29 days left of the trial version of Creative Cloud. Why did the program stop functioning? No output whatsoever...

Just downloaded the 30day trial version of creative cloud. I still have 29 days left. All of a sudden program stopped functioning. No output whatsoever. What happened?

Okay, let's assume that it opens, and that the transport doesn't work. If this is the case, then there's only one thing that stops it - no valid sound device found. Go to the Preferences menu and look at your hardware, and select something relevant (probably an internal device). If the answer isn't obvious, report back on what you see there.
