600 X dvd

I have a thinkpad 600 X running ubuntu and when I try to play a dvd it only sees a cd rom. the dvd info is as follows: SD-c2302 Dec 1999, SN 9Z5W104 213.
Does any one know how to set the dvd up so I can watch movies on this machine? I can accsess any cd rom I put in so I know the drive is working.
Any and all help appreciated thanks in advance.

This isn't all just cut and dried and the folks who know how to do this, that know how to design a workflow for this have spent a lot of time and money on educating themselves. Perhaps you should hire someone who knows what they're doing?

hi, do you have the software installed? http://www.debuntu.org/how-to-play-dvd-under-ubuntu-linux I was able to play dvds gtreat on my a22m with fedora. just because the drive plays cds does not mean it is working. I have had MANY dvd drives that would only play cds, so you might want to look into that. try putting a DVD other than a movie, (windows vista install, a new linux install) and see if you can browse through it.
IBM Thinkpad a22m, 850mhz (697mhz) 512mb of ram, 120gb HDD, dual boot windows xp pro, and windows 7 RC (7100)
    IBM Thinkpad a21m 700mhz (547mhz) 384mb 40gb, Windows XP

    Thank's both for the reply.
Well, i do have another 3 PC's working, so there is not a big problem on using the DVDDecrypter (which extracts the marker list).
Sometimes, i get a DVD-R from customer rather than DVCAM and the dvd-r has been already authored in another country.
My goal is to demux the accets, create my menus, import all assets including import the chapter marker list, and create the subtitles.
My workflow using the DVDMaestro is great, but i allways wanted to use DVDSP + Motion + LiveType for my workflow.
Again, i can't beleive that there is not any utility on the mac, that reads the chapters of an already authored dvd, and create a txt list of it.
For example: Last week i received a DVD i made in 2003, that i had no backup of the assets and i had to re-author it and include another subtitle and re-create the subtitles menu.
My main movie had 52 chapter markers, and it would be very tedious job to put them by hand (putting them in the i-frames).
Fortunately i used the mentioned utilities in my first post and had everything i wanted.
Are you people using both OS's for Dvd Authoring ?

  • What is the best way to set up iTunes to deal with a massive media library?

I have a really big media library...probably 7k-10k digital photos, close to 1,000 ripped CDs, and over 600 ripped DVDs, all stored on 1.5TB external hard disks in a 4-drive enclosure.
Due to a recent technical glitch, I find myself installing a new drive and moving the current library. My question is, what is the best way to set up iTunes' settings to deal with a media library that is both external to the Mac on which it runs, and spans multiple physical hard disk units?
I generally like the idea of iTunes organizing my library for me (i.e. keeping everything in Media Type>Artist>Album folders via the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder), but I'm not sure how that's going to work spanning multiple drives.
I just figure since I'm basically starting over with my iTunes installation, maybe there's a better way to do it.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

You can set them up as a software RAID using Disk Utility.
It'll simply be one large disk for all intents and purposes.

  • HOW TO ACTIVATE PHOTOSHOP CS6 MAC (CD EDITION) ?

so I've bought a Mac Version of Adobe Photoshop cs6 but can't active it
I've installed it and it then at 100% spits the disc out and no photoshop appears so I've reloaded it but it just goes back to the installing screen
how do i activate a cd version through live

Hi Station, and Merry Christmas. I somehow don't expect him to know the fine points (CD 600 MB/DVD 4.7GB typical), but to get the optical media out of the equation, I just got him over to the downloadable installer.
If his serial is valid, it's a go and he is in business.
If not and the serial number fails, he gets his money back (maybe) and learns about counterfeits.

  • Language import for ECC6

    Hi all,
I went along with the installation of French language on ECC6 netweaver 04s. The system was installed as ECC6 SR2. The DVD that I used belonged to "Language NetWeaver 2004s SR2 FR". We see the tcode descriptions and user menu in English and missing in French.
Is this because we require a "Language ECC 600 / SR2" DVD instead of the "netweaver 04s SR2" dvd during language import?
I have been able to locate "Language ECC 600 / SR3" DVD on marketplace. Could I proceed with ECC language import immediately after "Language NetWeaver 2004s SR2 FR".
    Please share your thoughts!
    Thank You,

    Hi All,
Just to add, We have the non-unicode installation!

  • New GTX 770 in existing system won't boot

So I thought I upgrade my PC with a brand new MSI GTX770. The system just won't start. Screen shows B2 in lower right hand corner and a solid cursor upper right. After a while the cursor starts blinking and B2 dissapears. Still a black screen. No possibility to enter bios, no bleeping, all fans are spinning.
When I put back in my good old MSI GTX580 all is fine again.
I am an advanced (MSI) user but never ever experienced this before. Highly frustrating and surely no plug and play experience. What to do? Underneath you'll find my systems components:
OS: Microsoft Windows7 64bit Home Premium Gold (SP1)
SSD (boot): Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB
    Memory: Corsair Vengeance BLUE,1600-8GB KIT
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 720WATT

    BIOS Version Mobo V10.1/21020208
VGA (new): MSI Geforce GTX 770 2Gb
VGA (old): MSI Geforce GTX 580 1,5Gb
    CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K, 1155, 3,4GHz, Box
CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB - 3.5inch
    SSD: Crucial m4 , 128GB, 2.5", SATA 600, SSD
DVD: Sony Optiarc DVR DL 24X,SATA
    Casing: Corsair Graphite 600T
PS: I did not manage to find a similar problem on this forum let alone a solution to it. I tried BIOS A vs BIOS B to no avail. Somewhere else I read I may have to flesh the new cards BIOS but how to do so if I cannot even get it to work?
    Any help is welcome!

Today I received the following I was like really???!!!!
    "Dear Sir/Madam,
Thanks for contacting MSI Technical Support Team!
Regarding your concern, there are many possibilities on why the system could
not boot up. Therefore, would you kindly please refer to the suggestions below to
    troubleshoot the issue?
    1) Unplug all the components and devices on the MB, and then reinstall the CPU,
RAM (one piece), VGA card and power supply only. Please add some thermal
gel on the CPU, and then reinstall the CPU fan correctly and tightly.
    2) Clear CMOS (How to clear CMOS, you could refer to the manual), and then
enter bios to Load Optimized Defaults->Save & Exit.
    3) Try to boot up the minimum system. If it still cannot boot up, please change
    another more powerful power supply for a try;
    4) If the problem still persists, please change another RAM with different brand to
    try.
    5) Please confirm the processor installed is compatible with the MB as well as
    the BIOS.
    6) If these attempts above does not work, we have to suggest you contact your reseller (The place you bought this MB from) and have them test the MB completely for you to check if this MB is faulty or not, then ask for some help.
If the reseller for some reason can not help, you could try to contact MSI distributor from below http://www.msi.com/service/wheretobuy/ near your place or MSI office from below http://www.msi.com/about/contact-us/
    Best wishes,
    MSI Technical Support Team!"
So adding a MSI card to my MSI Board mean I have to brake down all of my system, even remove my CPU (running fine) and buy some thermal gel. And while I am in the store buy a more powerful powersupply (mine already meets the specs) and/or ask my reseller to help me out checking if my motherboard (working fine) is faulty?
Well I just RMA'd my 770. So much for plug and play; even MSI parts are not compatible. A real bummer.

  • 10.4 install woes!

    Hi All!
Installed 10.4 and having a bunch of wierdness:
    - icons do not show correctly and when they do they looked splattered
    - attempts to mount a dmg will not show on desktop
    - when using Disk Utility it shows that the dmg is mounted, but still can't do anything with it.
    My system:
    -G3 BW (r.1)/ XLR8 G4/600
-300 Gig Maxtor HD (SATA)/ Firmtek/1s2 HD Controller
    Any advice?
    Thanks, sam

I updated this old mac over the last few years..
Added a G4/600 processor, DVD/ CD writer and have been using OSX since it came out with no issues.
Just upgraded the HD from 9gigs to a SATA 300 gig drive (firmtek/1S2 HD controller card) and am awaiting some ram to get this up to 1gig, so I'm kinda stuck with this for a while.
OS is currently at 10.4.6 and everything appears smooth, but I have nothing installed, which will be the real test.
Looks like my firewire HD has some issues as an older dmg that was working previously isn't mounting now. Any thoughts on how to repair this external firewire HD?

  • Radeon 9600 for mac g5 driver problems

I have a g5 power pc with a radeon 9600 pro. When I hook it up via dvi/hdmi to my 1080 p projector, the projector recieves the correct resolution 1920/1080 but dvd's play choppy. If I change the resolution to 800.600 the dvd's play fine. Why???

Hi Glenn, the 9600 isn't fast enough...
    1920 * 1080 = 2073600
    800 * 600 = 480000
    2073600 / 480000 = 4.32
The higher resolution requires 4.32 times as much VRAM, & 4.32 times the speed Gpu to display the same thing on a larger screen.

  • DVD burner no longer working on Touchsmart 600

I hope this is the correct forum. I have a Touchsmart 600 series and my DVD burner no longer reads DVDs or CDs, either digital, music or video. When I attempt to burn a DVD through Windows Media Player, WMP goes through all the motions of burning it but the CD is still blank. It had been working intermittently up through September and stopped working in November. The DVD burner didn't always work since I got the machine 2 years ago. Sometimes it would stop reading the disk but would work after a reboot. Now it won't even do that.
I have updated the drivers for it and it didn't seem to have an effect.

  • External dvd drive 600s

I have just bought the pavilian x2 and the 600s external drive. I can find the dvd drive in device manager but that is as far as I can get. I works on my daughters HP laptop but not mine. Where can I find the solution.

    Hello Mikeaelgraham,
Did you mean to say "It works on my daughters HP laptop but not mine"?
If so, it shows up in the device manager but not as a drive in This PC (Computer) in Windows 8.1?
I would go back to the device manager and uninstall the drive there, restart the computer and let it reinstall again when you plug it back in.
See if in will play a disk with any dvd player like VLC Player, Cyberlink DVD or whatever you have installed.
If still no joy and considering its brand new, you can contact HP Support directly and get further support or a replacement.

  • DVD from multiple flash files shows "loading" across 8/600 swf files

I got tossed into the middle of editing  a training dvd that is composed of several swf files.  I've made minor edits to content (spelling, grammer, etc), when I re-burn the dvd there are 8 files that display "loading" in blue upon opening (all files do this throughout the dvd) but with these particular files it never goes away.  It remains on the screen and visible underneath or behind the text.  Nearly 2 months ago, a round of edits was necessary and these same 8 files behaved normally.  Three of the eight files were not edited in either round, were fine on the last burn, and are now displaying the "loading" constantly. Would anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

The DVD is throwing a bit of a twist into it. I'm assuming you mean data DVD first off and this is all executable projector based content?
The best thing you can do to start is play the content in the Flash IDE so the debugger has a chance to show you any errors. Load the project and then run the debugger (CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + ENTER) and let us know if you see any errors show up. Chances are you're hitting a snag and it's no longer running code properly.

  • HP TouchSmart 600 PC Windows 7 64-bit TS-T633P CDDVDW Drive wil not read CD DVD Media

Is there a firmware or driver for the TS-T633P CDDVDW drive that will allow it to read CD AND DVD discs.  Have tried troubleshooting resources from HP and Windows with no results. The CDDVDW drive make a loud huming sound  and stops
trying to read. The drive is recognized by windows and windows states the driver is up to date. I have review many suggestions from other sites and thought I would seek help here. Any good suggestions?   Also tried to change the region to 1 which is the USA and for some reason it will not allow me to reset it from region 4.  I am not from South America. Dont know how this happen.
Have uninstall driver and get the same results.

    Hello again,
Try to do this, press F11 to boot into your recovery manager when you reach the options for your recovery press
ALT GR+D, a admin command prompt should appear.
Insert a CD/DVD and try to find the drive letter for your drive, either E,F,etc...try to insert a data CD and type "dir" to show you the content of the drive.
If this fails, you must replace your drive.

  • Re: Problem with TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D TO04 stoped burning CD and DVD.....

Hi everyone! The problem is basically it just doesn't want to write/burn any brand of cd/dvd anymore . It worked just fine for little more than year and recently developed that problem. I'm sure its not the media brands as I've tried with many. The problem persists with Nero, Alcohol120%, MagicISO, PowerISO, Burn4Free, no matter what I try to burn- ordinary data, audio, programs or images. Note that I'm able to write with Alcohol successfully but there's actually nothing on the CD and Nero burns the data also but fails to verify afterwards and gives an error. Writing on DVD R/RWs is completely unsuccessful creating coasters. Also the drive opens itself with no reason and whenever it wants. I have Toshiba A200-1MB notebook running original Vista Home Premium. Here is an error report, hope it'll help. Thanks and any help given is much appreciated!!!

Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
    1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
    2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
    4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

Also remove any dust on the lens using a clean microfiber cloth.
