6021+PC Suite 6.83+Infrared = "no phones connected...

Used this 6021 before with PC Suite 6 on previous W2K SP4 laptop. Installed latest version of PC Suite on this new Dell Latitude D620 laptop running W2K SP4.
Problem: PC Suite won't connect to 6021 via Infrared (I don't have cable or bluetooth available) - "no phones connected". Get Connected wizard fails to connect and displays the Troubleshoot page. Wireless Link sees the 6021 and I can use Wireless Link to send a file to the phone ok. Wireless Link will also send/receive files between this laptop and other laptops ok. Why can't PC Suite connect?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled PC Suite lots of times, reinstalled Infrared driver.
Please help!

Topics seem to either get resolved early or fizzle out with no resolution so here's my findings if anyone's interested...
I had PC Suite 6.? working fine with my Nokia 6021 using infra-red but my PC was changed. The change was done by applying my existing profile on a clean cloned Win 2000 system. This needed PC Suite to be reinstalled but there was probably old stuff in my profile which got in the way.
I tried many versions of PC Suite, borrowed phones and cables etc - wasted lots of time getting no-where!
Today, I got my PC rebuilt again. We took steps to clean up my profile before I started plugging in any cables or installing PC Suite. When we were ready we did this:-
1. inserted CD with PC Suite on it - it happened to be version 6.80.22 and go as far as connectivity setup (but not PC Suite itself)
2. plugged in CA-42 cable to USB port and my phone and waited for it to search for hardware. Make sure it picks the right driver. My phone came up with "enhancement not supported" but after unplugging and replugging the phone it seemed to find it!
3. Carry on with the rest of the PC Suite install.
I also enabled infrared and that works too now!
Cheers

    *Win XP home SP2
I bought a nokia 6021 on 25/10/05. the bluetooth function worked fine till a few days ago, although I’d only used sync & sending texts from my pc. Then I found that when I enabled b.tooth on fone no icon appeared on fone screen, but sync & txts still worked. I took it to have the software reinstalled/upgraded – icon appears & it worked ok for a few hours then the following problems started:
    1) If I try to connect to internet via pc suite - “no modem found”
    2) If I try to connect to internet from the fone i get "packet data connection not available" then that's replaced by "connection not available"
*I've downloaded standard settings (via nokia.co.uk) for
    -Mobile browsing (WAP/GPRS settings)
    -Multimedia messaging (MMS settings)
    -Internet access point (Internet settings)
    3) nokia audio manager – “no supported phone connected”
    4) sometimes can’t synchronize, sometimes can’t send text messages
    5) occasionally phone lights up & “pc disconnected” appears on screen, even though bluetooth is enabled. if this happens the connection sometimes works but is v. slow, sometimes fails
I’ve uninstalled & reinstalled bluetooth software & pc suite – either doesn’t make any difference or only works for a while before going wrong again.
i've just tried again to synchronize & found that NOTHING is working in pc suite - when i open pc suite it has "no phones connected" at bottom left, but when i try to get connected i get part way through the wizard the i get an error message "cannot use connection type. check all needed hardware, software & drivers are available". if i try to send text i get the phone selector dialog box with no phones listed. first time either of these has happened! Rebooted & still nothing working, though pc suite has “nokia 6021 connected via bluetooth at bottom left” & the error messages are different this time!
i called the shop where I bought fone – they’re saying it must be my pc, but if it is why did the bluetooth icon disappear from the fone?
anyone got any ideas about any of this?
    TIA, JeffK

No, it's not as simple as that (see my original post). some functions don't work at all & there seems no pattern to when sync & txts do work, although reboot does help sometimes.
I have the free Sygate Firewall (version 5.6.0.2808) & the Bluetooth Stack COM Server is allowed. I’d already thought it might be the firewall, but couldn’t see how if the bluetooth is allowed in it. (the XP firewall is disabled).
in control panel/bluetooth configuration/local configuration it lists the b.tth serial port as being on COM 3, but on the next tab, control panel/bluetooth configuration/client application it’s listed as being at COM 4
in control panel/bluetooth devices there are no devices listed at all, even though b.tth IS working partly, some of the time.

  • PC Suite says no phone connected, but working

After updating to 6.82.22 (from 6.78) I couldn't connect to my 6233 via Bluetooth (Widcomm 4.01.700). It hang's after entering authorization code on the phone. I uninstalled PC suite, used PC Suite cleaner and rebooted. After installing from the scratch I could complete the pairing process. After next reboot PC Suite says "no phone connected", no cable driver installed, no supported BTstack found - but every component of PC Suite is working and I have full access to the phone. OS: Win2k Server SP4, BTstack: Widcomm 4.01.700 PC Suite 6.82.22

Yes - thanks. Now it says connected and gives the BTstack Version in system information. Seems to be a problem with startup, even if the BT tray icon launch up before PC Suite and PC Suite seems to be the last to launch.

  • No Phone connected DKu 5 and CA 42 with Nokia Suit...

Hi I am trying to connect my mobile to my PC.
I am running Windows 98 SE.
    My phone is a 6110i
I also tried it on my daughter's 3220
I bought a DKU 5 connector of the internet and installed the drivers.
    Then unstalled Nokia suite 5.8.
    Both operations went Ok.
Connected the phone and cable but when I open the connection manager, I just get No phone connected.
Have tried searching for a com port identification, but nothing there.
I have now bougfht a CA42 cable for £29.95 from a nokia shop.
Removed all the other software and started again.
    Then installed Nokia suite 5.8
I still have the same report of no phone connected.
I have noticed that with the new cable, once I plug it in after the software is loaded, it finds new hardware like Nokia Modem and various other connections and supposedly installs the drivers.
    I am totally disheartened now.
    Can any one help Please

I'm afraid the problem is with the PC Suite version - 5.8 will not work with a 3220 nor a 6610i (I suppose you meant 6610i instead of 6110i?)
So you need 2000/XP and the latest 6.x version to get both your and your daughter's phones connected.
    Thanks for the feedback.
The PC is fairly old, so I will have to look at the cost, verses the functionality.

  • Ovi Suite: Managing albums on the phone

    Hi all,
Anyone out there know if there's a way to manage your (picture) albums on the phone via Ovi Suite?  My main goal is to get folders/albums that I already have on my computer onto my phone into an album/folder with the same name (e.g. 2010 Birthday Party).
The albums can be created on Ovi Suite, but I don't see any way to transfer them to the phone.  (I can send all the individual pictures to the phone, but then I'll be stuck w/100s of pictures and no way to organize them w/o going to each one manually and assigning it to an album created on the phone).
Any ideas guys?  If there's even a way to do it in Explorer I'd be open to that too
    Thank you!
    Phone: Nokia C5-00

I have a 5800 XpressMusic with software version 51.2.007. I am using Ovi suite version 3.1.1.90 on windows 7. every time my phone connects to ovi suite and automatically syncs, 2 "bluetooth messages" are recieved (just like when I send a picture to the phone via bluetooth).when I attempt to open the message, an error message shows up on the phone that says "Messaging: feature not supported".
This seems to happen just after contacts are synched, and began happening with the latest update to Ovi Suite.
I would prefer to not have to delete these messages constantly.

    Hi All,
For assistance about any unresolved concerns or complaints about your device, we highly recommend that you use the "Contact Us" link at your local Nokia website or get in touch with your local Nokia Careline.

  • PC Suite 7.0 fails to recognise connection

    Hi,
I have installed the latest version of Nokia PC suite (version 7.0.8.2) and I am using Windows XP home edition with service pack 2.
My problem is that whenever I try to connect my phone (6500 slide) via the “connect your phone” link on the pc suite main screen, it fails to recognise that my laptop has any connections whatsoever i.e. USB, Bluetooth or infrared. Therefore, I cannot connect my phone and it directs me to the Nokia PC suite FAQs section which I have visited and I have tried many solutions from there. Whenever I connect my phone via the USB cable(CA-101), my laptop recognises it is connected but PC suite doesn’t. My phone also prompts me to select either the pc suite mode, printing or usb mass storage mode. When I do select the pc suite mode on my phone nothing happens.
Strange thing is that I was using PC suite before and it was working perfectly for a day or two.
Here is the list of things that I have tried:
    1) Uninstalled and re-install pc suite program, did not work.
    2) I have tried the 10 step solution posted by “mcrasm” which includes taking the sim out of the phone but pc suite still doesn’t seem to recognise a connection.
    3) I have downloaded pc suite cleaner v3.6 which is not compatible with the latest version of pc suite v7.
    4) I have tried to repair the usb cable drivers but this has not worked.
    5) I have tried to repair nokia pc suite via control panel but this has not worked.
    6) I have done a clean uninstall, i.e. using pc suite cleaner and then re-installed the program but the same problem still flares up
I would be grateful if you could help me out with this problem. I have looked in this forum for people who have similar problems but could not find any. I apologise if I am repeating a thread. Many thanks in advance.
    Kyzer

Thank for your reply. I am using VISTA HOME PREMIUM, Dell Insprion 1525, 32 bit. Well, PCSuite tells me that the requested back up has been done. But when I sync the phone it only installs the contacts, applications and some other settings. But not the calendar and notes. I did this before with another laptop (also Vista) and it went well. Has this maybe to do with the new 30.0.015 ? Rather frustrating. Because as I said before,I can see the calendar and notes back up's in my files and more and less read them with notepad. But thats all.

  • "No Phones Connected"

My Nokia 6101 won't correctly connect with my computer through the Nokia PC Suite. Windows recognises my dongle (even down to the make and model) and installs the drivers successfully. Windows recognises the Nokia phone (ie I get a 'Send files to another computer' icon on my desktop), and when I go through the 'Get Connected' wizard the software identifies my phone (even with the correct model number and connection type). But the main window of the Nokia PC Suite just says "Please select the Get Connected button to help you connect your phone to your computer" (in bold, underneath all the icons) and "No phones connected" underneath.
What version of Windows is being used?
    Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64-bit
    What Service Pack is installed?
    None, as of yet.
What version of PC Suite is installed?
I was using 6.83, but that didn't work. I downloaded the latest version (6.84.10.3) and upgraded, and it still doesn't work.
What is the connection method, cable, bluetooth or IR?
    IR.
My phone is a Nokia 6101.
I searched the FAQs for over an hour, but I couldn't find anything of use. I kinda get the feeling that I'm searching for a needle in a haystack in there.
Anyways, any ideas that would help me connect my phone would be greatly appreciated.

Yes... although at first the topic didn't seem to apply to me, the solution worked. Thank you miksu! I was able to put the 'Speed Enable' up a little though (9600 was slow for file transfers). For anyone else suffering the same issue as I, try this...
    Direct quote from maclurek:
Firstly, make sure the PC Suite is the correct version for your model of phone.
For Windows - in Device Manager go into the properties of the specific infrared transmission device installed into your PC. In the Advanced tab, change the infrared tranceiver type to Vishay TFD, and reduce the speed significantly by changing the Speed Enable to a value of 9600.
Reducing the speed is likely to help if you are experiencing Infrared drop-outs in Windows. Nokia PC Suite has higher standards than Windows though - so it won't connect at all unless it has infrared conditions it's happy with. You may wish to alter the minimum-turn-around time if the last two suggestions don't work.

    Thank you all in advance.

I had the same problem as this on a Nokia E51.
The general solution to this problem for any phone.... from first principles...
1... Delete the Modem entry for the phone, in Phone and Modems,
           Control Panel.
2... Delete the RFCOMM Protocol TDI in Device Manager.
3... Delete the pairing for the phone in Nokia PC Suite.
4... Unpair the computer in your phone handset
5... Re-Pair the phone, and test its paired and connects
           in PC Suite.
6... Rescan for devices, Device Manager.
This will reinstall the 'RFCOMM Protocol TDI' in Device Manager.
7... Check you are connecting to the correct access end-point for your network.
           You can...
7.1... enter the correct network address in the PC Suite
'Connect to Internet settings', Access point box.
If you configure the connection manually,
there is a greater chance it will work, as opposed to auto.
                          OR
7.2... enter the correct network address in the modem Properties,
                          Advanced, 'Extra initialisation commands' box.
Extra Initialisation commands for the UK Vodafone network would be
          +CGDCONT=,,"wap.vodafone.co.uk"
If you choose the 7.2 option you don't need PC Suite open to connect in future. You can simply find the connection in Start Menu, 'Connect to' menu. Either 'double-click', or 'right-click | connect' and you will be connected.
This network connection is normally created by PC Suite. If you play around with it and connections start failing, you could 'right-click | delete' and set it back up in PC Suite. to reinitialise it back to sensible settings - remebering to re-enter your network access end-point.
That should deal with any hosed connection, whatever the reported reason on connect.
    Happy browsing :-)

  • Can't browse store without phone connected

Why Can't I access without the phone connected to the computer?  Not being able to do this guarantees that I will never purchase apps, music, etc. from Nokia as I will only hook up my phone if there is something I want.

Can you provide more details ? May sound silly but...Is your PC connected to Internet and have you sign-in in the Nokia Suite ?

  • 6230 DKU-2 - "No phone connected"

I'm using Nokia PC Suite 5 for the first time but my PC doesn't seem to connect to the phone.
    Here's my setup:
    Nokia 6230
    Windows XP Home
    DKU-2 cable
I downloaded and installed the cable driver [nokia_connectivity_cable_driver_rel_6_81_1_eng.msi], then installed the Nokia PC Suite as supplied on CD. I now have a Nokia Phone Browser on my Desktop, a Nokia PC Suite icon in the System Tray and lots of shortcuts in my Programs folder.
Plugging in the DKU-2 cable to a USB port, then attaching my 6230 caused a 'new hardware detected' icon to appear in the System Tray. After a minute or so the messages stopped, one of which seemed to indicate that it had found a generic Nokia USB driver. Plugging in the USB cable results in the usual 'bing-bong' and the 6230 screen says, "Data enhancement connected". So far, so good.
Double-clicking the PC Suite Icon reveals a Nokia Connection Manager wizard, with four buttons. I click the 4th button (USB connection) and wait, but nothing happens. The message says, "No phone connected".
What have I done wrong/do I do to fix this please?

  • Nokia PC Suite + XP SP3 + N70 + CA-53 + Connect = ...

I have XP SP3 with all updates from Microsoft. I am using the latest Nokia PC Suite (7.1). I use my Nokia N70 as modem to connect to the Internet using GPRS and the USB cable CA-53.
I did not have problems on XP SP2 but on XP SP3 my computer crashes and reboots as soon as PC Suite tries to connnect to the device and send the username/password. Modem diagnostics work fine using modem driver from the device manager.
I have older mother board Asus P4S800MX with SiS chipset on a desktop system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, repaired and tried many things but it always goes back to this problem.
I thought I fixed it and it worked but then after reboot it failed again. I think problem must be related to what Nokia does when connecting to my N70 as a modem for GPRS connectivity to the Internet via the CA-53 USB cable.
I can communicate with the phone using contacts and see messages in the Nokia PC Suite when it is started, so it appears that the USB driver is working well to communicate with the phone but using the phone as an Internet modem, I get a crash (no blue screen just a reboot).
Here is the funny part, I ended up installing Linux Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid on my same Asus P4S800MX desktop and had no problems connecting to the Internet using linux and my Nokia N70 using the same USB CA-53 cable... without the use of any special linux software... just the standard installation of Ubuntu. So I have confirmed that my problem is not hardware related. Also did extensive memory tests of my computer and no failures.
If anyone as any ideas of how I might solve this problem or even how to go about troubleshooting.. that would be greatly appreciated. I have ensured all driver files exist for Nokia Suite related devices as well by examining driver details. I even installed a clean version of XP and all the updates for SP3 and the problem still happens. I am thinking that perhaps SP3 and Nokia PC Suite has some problems with my older N70 phone.
I have searched the Internet for anyone else having my problem but it seems hard to find so I am left with either giving up on Windows when needing the Internet and converting to Linux (Ubuntu) permanently.. and loosing some of the windows things I enjoy.... like video chatting on MSN and Yahoo.
If you can give me suggestions, please don't be scared to include advanced debugging techniques because I am a programmer/analyst.
    CONCLUSION:
    Nokia PC Suite + XP SP3 + N70 + CA-53 + Connect = CRASH!!

Hey...sorry if you are expecting for an answer but I would like to inquire to you my problem, hoping that you have through this also or someone asked you of the same problem
This is my problem...when I used NokiaSoftwareUpdater, my memory card then have a password which I never remember putting...I have gone through the discussions and I have found out that many too have the same problem... What am gonna do..plss help...

  • 5130 cannot get phone connection, using as modem

Recently purchased 5130 to use as modem for my laptop.  Am using sim card from primary phone to access internet (primary phone has internet service), and connection with USB cable.  Downloaded PC suite, have Vista OS.  Have set specs to phone and internet provider (AT&T) but cannot get connection.  Error display says cannot get phone connection.  Phone works in phone mode, although cannot see contacts.
( I have a new bluetooth USB adaptor, but do not want to open package if I can get cable to work.  No point in opening blue tooth yet as cannot even get phone connection.)
    Any advice?

  • Multiple phones connected???

    Help please
Why does my wifes n95 now says multiple phones connected when connected to pc suite, also non compatible mode in bottom tray-also won't allow back up as files being used,I must have altered a setting somewhere, althuogh i seem to be using the same connection procedure, any help appreciated

Mac OS X > System Preferences > Bluetooth > Devices > select desired device > Create Serial Port (at the left) > + > enter a name you like > select the Dial-up Networking profile > tick all checkboxes > OK
This should create a new port within System Preferences > Network which allows you to connect to a different phone just as you like.
