60GB iPod and Movies

Will my 60GB,5th generation? iPod play movies?

FYI... my 5th gen, 60 Gig iPod was a mac formatted iPod. I was traveling when itunes 7 came out and since I was wanting to download a movie the day they were announced, I restored my Mac iPod using my Windows laptop. This erased all the contents of the iPod and restored it as a Windows formatted iPod (XPlay did not work with 7.0).
I have not had any problems, and since my home Mac reads windows drives w/o any patches, I have decided to leave the iPod in Windows format. Movies work great except I do not have the new search feature.
The search seems something that would be in the software, but somehow Apple has not provided it to us original 5th gen owners!

  • Just Bought 60GB Ipod and how to fix this problem?

    Hi Guys,
I just bought a 60GB Ipod and so far iam pretty pleased with my purchase. I had one question though.
Before transferring any songs to the Ipod it is showing only 16.68GB as free space out of a total of 60GB? i have now transferred even a single song? Any ideas how to fix this problem pl?
    thanks

That certainly shouldn't be happening. Try restoring it using the iPod Software Updater in Programs\iPod\Updater

  • I have 75Gb in ITunes and a 60Gb Ipod and want to move Itunes to a new PC!

    Dear All
Apologies to all if this is an easy question and I am clogging up the forum, but I cant seem to find help anywhere for this scenario!
I have 75Gb in Itunes on an old Win XP Pro PC, and want to move it to my new Win XP Pro PC. However, I only have a 60gb Ipod. How do I move it(other than spending the next 2 weeks burining it to discs!!)?
Thanks for your help and patience in advance!
    Regards
    Chris

There are a few things you could do, networking the two computers is probably the most straightforward. Have a look at this User Tip: Migrating iTunes for Windows to a new PC
If you can network the computers there is also this one: Copying songs over a network to use with iTunes for Windows

  • How to connect my 60gb IPOD and my Mac Mini

I have my trusty 60GB ipod (no video), with the older wide connector and the funny USB or whatever it is symbol looks like a "Y".
    Nice grammer huh.
ANyway the cable I have doesn't plug in to my mac mini or MBP.
What cable do I use to hook 'er up to ITUNES on either system?

    Open Quicktime Player
    File Menu: New Audio Recording....
However... if the headphone/microphone combination has two 3.5mm jack plugs (pink and green) then the microphone output (pink) is "mic.level" - which is TOO QUIET for the audio input on a Mac, which is expecting the much stronger "line.level" signal strength.
Solutions: get a microphone pre-amplifier between the mic and the Mac (not cheap); or a different microphone with a USB interface.

  • How do I take my iTunes library from my ipod and move it to another iTunes on another compuyter?

How do I take the songs on my ipod and download/transfer them to another computers iTune library?

Excellent! Do I need to do anything to ensure the the program installs on the new computer? Do I need to make sure the computer is connected to the Internet when I uninstall the program from the old computer?

  • 60GB iPod and Error 1418

A week or so ago, I was updating my iPod when I was told there was a writing error, and the update stopped. Since then, my iPod has not worked. I've tried to reset and restore it to no avail - when I try to restore it (at which point iTunes states that the player is corrupted and must be restored,) it begins but then pauses and stops, quoting error 1418. I've downloaded iTunes 7 to use the most recent software to no avail, and when I check the iPod diagnostic, it states that it failed to connect to the iPod (in spite of the fact that it can detect it enough to begin a restore).
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, but that similarly has had no effect. I have several times now left it untouched for several days to fully discharge, only to find that when I plug it into the mains I get the "folder" error icon, and there is no charging icon afterwards. When I connect it to the computer, it has the disk mode style "do not disconnect" instead of its normal font and style. The battery was replaced two or three months ago by an authorised Apple Service agent, and has worked perfectly until this.
I have also followed any advice I could find on the message boards (including the oft-referred Ebon Cairn's post for the fifth generation iPod), but find myself stuck. If anyone can help shed some light on this, I would very much appreciate it.

Thank you for the speedy response. I tried to format the player - while capacity came up as 55.8GB. there was no information under the dropdowns for "file system", "Allocation Unit Size" or "Volume Label". I pressed start, only for nothing to happen - after several minutes I closed the box, and I am then told that the drive cannot be formatted (this however could be down to my computer being a many-years old piece of crap).
Beyond trying to format it on another computer, is there anything else you could suggest, or would you think I have a dead iPod on my hands?

  • 60gb iPod and iTunes

I don't know how - but I somehow made iTunes shuffle all its music lists. So 1- 10 is shuffled in different ways.
The shuffle icon (bottom left) is never lit up - so I cannot switch it back to normal.
Please can someone tell me how to return this to normal - so that all music lists go in numerical order starting at 1?
    Many thanks.

I don't think I made it clear in my earlier posting that the shuffled tracks appear in the iTunes Music Store. The shuffle icon is greyed out and I cant get the tracks back into order. Please, if anyone knows how to help me, I should be very grateful. I understand how to turn shuffle on and off for playlists etc.

  • Ipod and Outlook Calendar (help needed)

Does anybody know how could I add the location field (from calendar event's details) in the syncronising data going to Ipod ?
    Many thanx.

The iPod calendar doesn't display the location field although it is sync'd. You need to put your location information into the description field.
I wrote a Perl script that can be used to edit the calendar files on the iPod and move the location into description automatically, and it is available on my website <http://its.usc.edu/~bbellina/downloads>, however you would need to have Perl installed on your Windows PC to use it. It should be compatible with Outlook vcs files. You would use it after you sync your calendars.

  • HELP!!! Itunes recognizes only 22gb available for a 60gb ipod.

I have a 4th generation 60gb ipod and a week ago all of my music was erased and I could do nothing to remove the folder/exclamation mark icon from my ipod. It was stuck in disk mode for a week and yesterday it finally started working. I unistalled all apple products from my computer and reinstalled itunes. When I connected my ipod to the computer it was recognized in itunes and started to add my music library, but then it said I didn't have sufficient space. I restored the ipod to factory settings 4 times and in my ipod summary it says I have a 22gb ipod???? How do I make it recognize my 60gb ipod??? PLEASE HELP.

I restored the ipod to factory settings 4 times and in my ipod summary it says I have a 22gb ipod????
do you have any other drives attached to your system that have a 22 GB capacity, danni?
if so, try checking on the possibility from this document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Problems with importing music into my 60gb ipod

I really need some help.. I just recently got the new 60gb ipod and had no problems imporitn music, i have a windows Xp and installed Itunes in which i registed my ipod, i then went on my sisters IBook and imported music from her. I then sucessfully imported more music from my windows computer. well i am currently visitn her and used her comp for more importing when somethien went wrong. My ipod will only play her music and not mine from my computer. It reads the playlists as if my music was there but when selected, it simply skips it and then when i try to play it on her comp the exclamation point goes up. I dont know what to do.. someone please help me!!!

Melissa, iPods were not made to dock to 2 totally different computers. This was done to prevent illegal file sharing. When you originally docked your iPod to your personal computer, the iPod views that as its "home". In docking to your sister's computer, you would have gotten a message saying something to the effect about " this iPod is linked to another library. do you want to replace iPod's contents with the current music library?" If you said "yes", you have now told iPod that your sister's computer is its "home" & that's why it can no longer access your music. The only way to get your music back is to do a restore of your iPod & allow iTunes to re-sync the library on your computer to your iPod.
Even though you are sisters, if you don't live in the same household what you are attempting to do is considered to be illegal file sharing. PLEASE DON'T STEAL MUSIC!

  • IPod and Canon 350d

    Hi.
I'm going to get an iPod Video (30 Gb) to be used as download tool of my camera using the iPod camera connector.
I have a Canon 350d: on the apple site, this model is not in the list of compatible model: any experiences using canon 350d with iPod via apple connector?
Moreover: when I download picture into iPod, Do the iPod save them using the original format (i.e. size) or is going to manipulate them?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ciao

one reason is to have a simple place to download my photo from my SLR-Camera when I'm far from my iMac: so I'm going to take also a travel charger and the iPod camera connector).

    Hey!
    Roberto,
This is a cut and paste from a reviewer of the Apple camera connector....
"I bought the iPod Camera Connector to use with my 60Gb iPod and Canon 350D camera. Took it out of box, plugged it in and it worked with prompts, downloaded sample of 11 (off) 3 to 4 Mb JPEG photos straight to the iPod and surprise, surprise, I could even view the photos which I was not expecting until next connected iPod to laptop from Appple product information. A good buy and cheaper than extra memory cards for my camera. "

  • 60GB iPod: all keys are always locked.

    Hi there,
Just today I've received my new 60GB iPod and BOSE Sound Dock, with my with great anger and displeasure I have found that the all iPod keys are permanently locked and I'm not be able to unlock it using normal unlock commands.
I've tried to successfully restart it more and more times, using the lock-unlock-holding down the "menu" and central key for 6 secs sequence, without results; I've restored the default parameters using "iPod Updater 2005-11-17" appl, without results. The Mac USB connection is OK and I have correctly uploaded a lot of music. All the music are OK and play very well if I insert iPod into the BOSE Dock an control it by IR remote control.
I don't know what I can do more and so I need "... a little help from my frends..."
    Thanks

I had the same problem with my 4th generation iPod.
I fixed the problem by opening my iPod with a butter
knife and found the clickweel's connecter had come
loose inside. I simply slipped it back and
snapped the case back together. (This will, of
course, void the warranty.) I'm not sure if the 5th
generation is as easy to open and I do not want to
have to find out. Use your own digression. (I also
happen to be good with electronics.)
