60GB video ipod labeling system

Anyways, I have a 60GB black Video Ipod and I want to organize my music and videos, etc... but let's say when I want to put music videos, movies, etc on the ipod 'video' folder, it puts them all under the music video folder and not the respective ones (it puts them all in the music video folder)
So, if I wanted to play watch Ladder49 on my ipod, it would have it labeled it under 'music videos'. Along with all of the other videos and movies i have. That kinda defeats the ipod's organizing labels if it puts them under the same label...
Hopefully, that makes sense. Anyone know what to do to fix this issue or how to put them in their respective labels?

Read this, it applies to any video you want to label, except the TV Shows option. Use it and you won't find your videos. You are confined to Movies and Music Videos. I personnally make a playlist and drag my files into them. I have one for Movies, Cartoons etc.
Videos labeled TV Shows in iTunes don't appear on iPod:

  • Help me please! 60gb video ipod will it work on imac g3

I've got an imac g3 333mhz and for christmas got an ipod video 60gb, I was using system 9.1 but have installed 9.2 and 10.1 to run along side each other, however 10.1 is not happy!
I know I need to download 10.2.8 or 10.3.4 but how, none of the updates go from 10.1 that high, do I need to buy 10.2 from somewhere, and will it work if I do, is my mac going to be compatible with my ipod or do I need to buy a new mac, sorry to be so wet, I haven't updated in years but so want to be able to use my pressy, please help me.

The new iPod requires at least OX X 10.3.9 or later.
Any upgrade to a 10.3.x or later will be purchased upgrade for you. There are no free downloads to upgrade a 10.1.x machine to 10.2.x, 10.3.x or 10.4.x.
What are the full specs of your computer? RAM, HD size, etc. You might need to upgrade your computer hardware in order to even install 10.3.9 on your machine successfully.
Macs do last quite a long time, and I'm sure your machine still has life left in it... but you might want to consider purchasing a newer Mac. Yours is certainly outdated.

  • Can't sync game with 60GB Video iPod

This morning I purchased Phase for my iPod. (5thG 60GB Video) And I can not sync this game to my iPod. I get the error {The game "Phase" was not copied to the iPod "mcarrolls iPod" because you are not authorized to play it on this computer.} I normally don't sync my music, just manually add content to my iPod, But I checked Sync Games in my iPod tab and I get the error. Then I went as far as to snyc my entire library, deleting hours of ipod formatted video I encoded myself from my ipod, but still wasn't able to get the game to sync. I decided to try a restore, since my iPod was practically empty, still no luck. I purchased an album in iTunes and am able to both sync, and manually add that purchased album to my ipod. Now I have an empty iPod and still can't get my purchased game on to my iPod. Any help?

Hey mcarroll, how did you get Phase to sync onto your iPod? The same problem occurred with me actually so i probably have to do the same as you did. So, in other words, how did you actually authorize DRM software to be eligible to be synced onto your iPod? Where did you go in settings/preferences that eventually granted you the ability to sync "Phase" onto your iPod? Thanks for letting me know!

  • Ipod updater 2006-06-28 wiped my 60gb video ipod!

i just tried updating the firmware, and now im getting a message on my ipod saying "connect to your computer. use itunes to restore." i dont want to restore my ipod, i just wanted to update the software!! in windows the ipod is recognized as a drive letter, however when i click on it it says the drive is not formatted and asks if i want to format it. all i want is the firmware to be reinstalled. i saw this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303915 but i dont get any message box that asks if i want to update. and yes i have the newest version of itunes. when i try to run the updater again it just sits there forever and hangs. is there any sort of data recovery software i can use to get my songs back? i would like to just update it again without having to lose all my data. thanks.

Same thing happened to me (well my 30gb video iPod XD) And to a lot of people, apparently. My iPod has been comatose (I REFUSE to say it's dead) since Monday after the iPod Update. It's NEVER had problems before, so I lay the blame on the Update. It took forever to "update" (I had it in for hours) and when I finally dced it (prematurely apparently?? I don't know how leaving it in a couple hours and then taking it out makes it premature but okay iPod Updater...) it flashed to the Apple screen, which I then reset, and now it's in its comatose state
I have really nothing to contribute but to say it's happened to me, too XD I've had no luck at other threads so if anyone could help, it would be much appreciated Thanks

  • 60 GB music Ipod Vs 60GB video Ipod

    Hi everibody,
I am planning to buy a video Ipod and I already own a 60 GB music only Ipod.
I have a doubt about the possibility of synchronysing of the two Ipods.
I will be using the same computer and the same data base to do so. Will I experience problems ? Will it be possible ?
    Many thanks for the help.

  • 5G 60GB Video iPod keeps pausing, has difficulty turning off

Please excuse me if this post appears twice. When I clicked on the "Post message" button at the bottom of the page, nothing happened. I hope. Here's the problem I'm having: my brand-new video iPod pauses itself 6 to 7 times an hour, is difficult to turn off and sometimes turns itself on all by itself. I did the 5R's a couple of times and then sent it in for service. It was returned as a Windows iPod, which took a while to straighten out (the Apple person was very helpful on the phone). However, the service people sent it back to me saying that there is nothing wrong with the iPod, but it still pauses itself all the time. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Do videos pause?
Are you using the headphones that came with?
Make sure no alarms are set under Extras-->Clock.
Also, is the software on the iPod up to date?

  • Potential Fix to 1.1 60GB Video iPod issue

I have been looking at ways to resolve this issue, and looking at other sites have come up with something that does work for me. Just want to throw it out there to see if it works for others as well.
The issue with the video playing and then continuing without sound seems related to how the converting programs put together the final mix of audio and sound, otherwise known as muxing.
When I ran my MP4 files through Yamb, a MP4Box GUI, files that did not work after about 20 seconds now play completely through without issue. It only takes about 2 minutes per movie to do this, although I have only been able to resolve issues with MP4 files and not h.264 files with the .m4v extention (Program doesn't seem to MUX the m4v files).
The simple instructions, find and install YAMB. . . Can be found with a search, current version is 1.5.
    1. Run YAMB
    2. On the “Mux” tab, add the old MP4 file in the “Audio & Video” section
    3. Leave all other fields blank except the Output field
    4. Leave the “Output” filename as the default or change the location and file name to whatever suits you
    5. Click the “Mux” button. The progress bar will probably loop through 3-4 times, just wait for the log message “Muxing finished completely”. It shouldn’t take more than a couple minutes.
Please post regarding this if you do try this. I would like to know if this works for everyone. I use Videora, so other converters may or may not work. If you figure out how to accomplish the same thing with h.264 encoded files, please let me know as I have a few of these as well that are preventing me from staying at version 1.1 of the software.

Jonathan, what version of the %G ipod you have? the 30GB version or the 60GB version. Most of the problems reported with video after the 1.1 upgrade are related to 60GB ipod. There is an extensive thread on this issue on the ilounge forums:
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=143446&highlight=videofirmware1.1
Here is a summary of their findings:
This problem only seems to affect the 5G 60Gb iPod
There have been no reports of this problem occurring on the 5G 30Gb iPod
The problem does not occur with content purchased from iTunes
The problem does not occur with content encoded with QuickTime and/or iTunes.
The problem only seems to occur with large video files (in excess of 100Mb)
The problem seems to occur most frequently with content encoded with Videora on PC, although other applications have shown this problem as well.
There have been few to no reports of this problem occurring for Mac users encoding with Handbrake.
Most of the users on the Windows platform use a combination of DVD Decrypter / videora, on the basis that both tools are free and they work. I, for example have a 30 GB ipod with firmware 1.1 I just DVd Decrypter and videora extensively to rip and convert my DVD's and put them on my ipod (R30, Band of Brothers, Serenity to name a few). I have not experienced any of this problems. Then again, I have a 30 GB ipod, and based on the experience form other users, I should not have a problem (and I don't have any).
another interesting point is that there has been cases of Mac users having problems with video encoded using handbrake. The common denominator here is the 1.1 upgrade.
The question should be then: what changed on the 60GB ipod after the 1.1 upgrade that is making viewing large video files encoded with 3rd party tools an impossible endeavor, rather than saying that Videora is the culprit here.
I agree though, that if you set the profiles wrong in videora (or in any other 3rd party tools for that matter) you will get bad results. The fact is though that the videos were working on those devices (60GB ipod) before the upgrade, so definitely something changed.

  • ITunes Video not compatible with 5th generation 60GB video iPod

I downloaded several videos from the iTunes store to my Mac G4 1.67 powerbook. When updating my iPod, I received a message that some of the videos, really only one, was not downloaded to the iPod because the format was not compatible with my new 5th generation iPod. It seems to play fine on my G4. How can there be a compatibility problem with at video purchased from iTunes and downloaded to a Mac and transferred to a 5th generation iPod ? Anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks.

Thank you, lllaass.  Of course, an apple user remarks to this fact in their review. Are all courses going to have reviews attached? Why do I have to read reviews on courses to get this information?  Who is writing the review?  It's not an apple official. How reliable is information in reviews?  I've read reviews that have incorrect information. Why not put the fact that a course is incompatible with iPod right in the course description. It would save a lot of time and wasted bandwidth. Why was the book allowed to be downloaded onto an unsupported device?

  • Can't get my 60gb video iPod out of "Restore with iTunes" mode

I reinstalled Windows the other day and my iPod was still connected to my computer. By the time I noticed this, it said "Connect to computer - use iTunes to restore." I know using "restore" will erase the contents of my iPod, but I don't want to do that. While using my backup iTunes discs, I realized that certain cd's didn't get reloaded, and none of my playlists came back either. I want to recover these things using an upload from my iPod, but all my iPod does is show the "connect to computer and restore" screen. How can I get my iPod to work again without using restore? I've put it into disk mode, but the software I have still doesn't recognize that it's there, and resetting it doesn't do anything either. I also tried changing the letter drive, but that didn't do squat. Help! What can I do? Thanks. PLEASE I need help with this!

Well here's what I've tried so far:
    1. Repair Disk Permissions
    2. Opened a new iTunes account
    3. Checked whether I had the updated tabs in itunes (photos, video, games etc) after syncing iPod with my wife's iBook. It did, and I was able to restore. Switched back to my G5 and still only 4 tabs as if it was the onld 2nd gen ipod I used to have.
    4. Tried installing iTunes 6 and still no go on being able to push that dang restore button
    5. Searched for and deleted everthing iTunes on my hard drives and still no go.
    6. Thinking of re-installing OS 10.4 and starting from scratch. (I'm that determined to fix this)
I still ask the Apple community, of which I've been a part of for 19 years, if there's anyone out there who might have a fix for this.

  • Nighmare with 60GB Video Ipod - PLEASE HELP!!

My ipod is driving me crazy:
I can only charge it via firewire or connecting it direct to the mains.
When i use the USB connection, NOTHING happens - The ipod and Windows just don't react.
I've tried resetting and putting into disc mode with fruitless results - There are quite a few people with a similar problem, but at least their PC says there's some kind of an issue - Mine just sits there.
Everything was working fine up until i installed Windows Vista to see what its like - I am now back to windows xp.
Any help would be much much appreciated

  • I cannot play videos on 60GB Video without it halting and muting

I have used several programs over the last few days to convert different videos to MP4 format, and while the videos play fine inside of iTunes, they mute after a couple of minutes on the IPOD itself. This has happened for 100% of my converted MP4 files. I even used a muxer/demuxer to run the MP4 files through before putting them on the IPOD.
Basically, they'll play fine for perhaps 2 minutes, but then the sound will go, the video will halt... and although the video will start back up again in 10-15 seconds, the sound won't... at all. I can rewind or fast forward a bit and the sound will come back, but it'll mute again within a minute... every time. It doesn't matter what the converting program I've used... it happens to every one of them.
Yes, I have tried converting before I used the Update tool and after. Same problem before and after. The thing that gets me is that all my video podcasts work fine. They work all the way through without error. However, converting or just finding an MP4 file from somewhere and putting it on... will not work. It will halt 100% of the time.
My iTunes is up to date. My firmware is up to date. My Quicktime is up to date. Some help here would be nice to get. I hate to have spent all that money for a 60GB Video IPOD and basically be worthless for the main reason I got it.. play all my videos on. Thanks.

    Eric,
The problem is most likely software version 1.1. You will want to go back to 1.0

  • Display size 60gb video

    hi guys,
i have a question about the display size of the 60gb video ipod. I just notice that there is a black outline around the actual display. I'm not talking about the screen size, but the actual picture that is being displayed. It does not completely cover the screen. so the actual display is smaller than the screen size. Is this normal? I have updated mine with the 1.2 firmware. I don't remember before the update. is it because of the update? thanx

    thanks for the fast reply.
ok the black outline is very small. and it did this to all of the display, video, pictures, main menu, etc.
After looking at it again with display and nothing on (black screen) I think it's normal, because when its on blank screen i can see the outline of the actual display.
    thanks
