60W Power Adapter - UK compatible?

Hey guys, I have a quick question that I'm sure most of you would be able to answer, I hope.
I am bringing my laptop from the US to the United Kingdom and was wondering if my 60W adapter for my macbook pro would work?
Also, in the same note, should I buy plug converters to make the adapter fit the electrical outlets over there?
Thank you so much!

Yes, it will work in most any country, but you may need a plug adapter for the power outlets.

  • Is light faulty on new 60w power adapter for my Macbook?

Had to order a new 60w power adapter for my Macbook a couple of weeks ago -- bought it from the Apple Store (the new design adapter). When it's plugged in it turns green, then immediately turns red to recharge -- all normal. Once fully recharged the adapter light turns/stays green. But after awhile the adapter light goes out altogether. The icon shows it's charging, but the red (and green) light is off. If I remove the adapter and plug it back in the lights will come on again.
    Is this normal?
    Thanks.

I think I'm experiencing the same problem. My computer charges but the light goes back and forth from being on or off, orange or green. I'm a little disappointed that the light could be burned out, but I guess a little light like that can't last forever. Oh well.
Is it worth pursuing a replacement from Apple since I still have AppleCare? Just wondered.
Anyway, this is really helpful information. Thanks for sharing.

  • Generic 60W power adapter

My daughter broke her AC Power adapter that came with her MacBook. Went to my local apple store and they want $79.00 plus tax for a new one. Anyone out there have any luck buying a generic brand. I'm always a little bit nervous about this. Don't want to take a chance blowing up a expensive machine. Is it worth going generic to save a few bucks?
    Please advise.
    Tnx
    Rob -

I have a friend that bought a generic one off of eBay for $20 for his Black Macbook. The adapter wire failed at the base and he put it away for a couple of weeks, then when he finally plugged it into an authentic adapter, the battery was useless with a (Zero) 0 in the charge status. Anyway, he got the new adapter and a generic battery on there, and has used it with no issues. He says the Macbook actually runs longer now. I looked at it with a lot of suspicion at first. I noticed that the Amber/Green LED on the tip actually functions exactly the same too. Overall, I think it was a great deal. He got both parts for less than an authentic adapter. I would trust it. Additionally, he even got a 1 year warranty on both parts. Use a USA seller like he did even though the parts are made in China like the authentic ones.

  • Power adapter 60w noise

I have a week old MB Alum 2.4ghz model and have noticed that the 60w power adapter has a squealing sound, which you can hear quite easily in a semi-quiet room, or if you put your ear up to the adapter, the sound is even more noticeable....it stills charges, but there is the sound!
....so just wondering if this is normal or should i be contacting Apple for a replacement?
i have tried the 60w power adapter from my 2007 MB (white) model and there is no sound from this one!
    cheers

I had a similar problem but opposite- mine would make noise when the MagSafe was connected! After testing with a different power cord my computer made the same noise. Due mainly to another bug with my Airport Card, Apple is finally replacing the logic board and Airport card- hopefully this will eliminate the problem.
You may want to try resetting the Power Management Unit to see if this fixes the problem:

  • Satellite M50-159: What is the part number of the origanal AC power adapter

My power adapter has broken and up until now i have been using a universal adapter but the connection is loose and takes a while for the orange light to turn on.
My question is what is the part number of the original AC adapter that came with this laptop. I have just ordered what i thought was the correct power adapter part number was PA3468E-1AC3 but the connecter did not fit into my laptop even though the toshiba website said this power adapter was compatible.
    Please help
    Alex

    Hi dear friend,
you had the wrong partnumber. What you need is PA3283U2ACA (K000028790) which is the right one. Heres a link where you can check the connector of the AC-adapter:

I hope you will get what you need. :)

  • Universal power adapter problem with Vision M 6

Fed up with charging my zen vision M 60gb through my pc's usb, I purchased a Creative uni'versal power adaptor. I've selected the correct plug for the UK but it doesn't seem to charge my zen. The blue power light comes on but that's all. No display or charging symbol like you normally get. Anyone have any experienece of these adapters? Thanks

    Hi,
The Uni'versal Power Adapter is compatible with your Vision: M, see the specs.
Bring along with you the Sync Adapter, just in case.

  • Universal Power Adapter for Europe for my Zen Vision

I'm going to Spain in 2 weeks and i'm wondering if the Uni'versal Power Adapter will work with my Zen Vision: M. In the compatability section, it names several models, but I don't see the Vision: M. Does that mean I won't be able to bring my Zen with me? Or am I just not looking hard enough and I can actually buy the Uni'versal Adapter?

    Hi,
The Uni'versal Power Adapter is compatible with your Vision: M, see the specs.
Bring along with you the Sync Adapter, just in case.

  • Fake power adapter - can I tell from the serial number?

    Hi,
I have a 60W power adapter (magsafe, t-plug) and I'm trying to establish whether it's an 'Apple approved' part. It looks like my other power adapter - same writing on the sides, same apple logo embossed into the side - but I no longer trust the source.
Is there a way I can tell from its serial number? There is a number next to the cable socket, reading "RR84530725UA". I have a feeling that this might be a part not intended for UK market, or possibly one that has not passed the proper QA checks.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alastair

Probably the best thing to do is take it to an Apple Store and compare it side-by-side with an Apple-branded adapter.

  • Zen V Plus - Use Micro Power Adapt

    Hi,
I just ordered the Zen V Plus (ZVP 8GB) over the phone from Creative (I'm in UK) and I was recommended to purchase?the external power adapter. So I ended up buying that as well. When I got the confirmation e-mail, the power adapter turns out to be the "Zen Micro Power Supply" - as opposed to the standard (and uni'versal?) "Zen Power Adapter". Since both the Micro and the V series?only charge via USB I assume that the Zen Micro power adapter is compatible with the Zen V?Just want to be 00%?sure that it will work. Tia.

Creative is selling?the Micro Power adapter?on the?web site for $9.99. 67% off list price. That's better than paying $29.99!It said they were out of stock for now. When you click on the?link?asking if you wanted to be notified when they were back in stock; another window comes up and?it says?that it works with the Zen V and Zen V Plus.Message Edited by mjmvb on 2-7-200707:32 PM

  • What to do with old 60w power adapters?

I just bought a new 60w power adapter, since my old one wasn't working. Is there a place i can go to recycle the old one or is there a proper way to get rid of it as an aternative to just trowing it in the trash?

You can drop it off at the nearest Apple Store. They'll take care of it with proper recycling/disposal.

  • NewMacBook Power Adapter Typo Error

There is a typo error on this link: as per 11/08/2006 10:10 PM
    http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html
That said it shipped with 60W Power adapter, but if we scrool on the specs table, it said comes with 85W Power Adapter (usually for MacBook Pro).
Hope everybody that order this new MacBook do double check so nobody will be dissapointed later.
And if there is moderator around, do inform the webmaster to fix the typo error to the rightfull information.
    Good Luck.

There is truly moderator around, and the typo problem now fixed: 11/09/2006 3:45PM

So the buyer will get the 60W Power adapter instead of 85 as stated before.

Can you plug in your 60w magsafe power adapter to peru without harming it?

Yes you will need a plug adapter, the power supply is rated for 100v-240v. Apple has a travel kit full of adapters you could also check the web for a particular one for your needs.
