6101 irDA PC Suite success!

HI
I have looked at lots of posts on connecting a Nokia 6101 to PC Suite by any means. I have Win XP Home.
I connected my 6101 to PC Suite by infrared with Maplin's USB adapter - there is a cheaper SigmaTel adapter around which may also work (I didn't force the PC to re-install the drivers on the CD-ROM, it came with: it set up some kinda connection without actually talking to Nokia PC Suite).
Anyway the Maplin one DOES connect to PC Suite!
Two important things to ensure are
(a) the RIGHT HAND SIDE of the phone (as you look at the keyboard) should face the IR adaptor
(b) the speed you select should be 115200 bps (Do Start, RIGHT Click "My Computer", select "Properties", then "Hardware" Tab, "Device Manager" Button, find and expand "Infrared Devices" and look in its "Properties": "Advanced" Tab)
If the PC speakers are on, you will be able to hear XP telling you of a successful IR connection: an old Sci Fi, Dr Who-type "boingy" sound. If connection is fading you hear a strange echoey rumble like a World War Two bomber in "Dambusters". If connection is lost, you hear a "whoosh!".
Connection with IR to Nokia PC Suite lets you move/backup photos and sounds to the PC, mess around with address books and messages and copy applications onto the phone.
What you CAN'T do is update the software (is this crucial?). For that you need to connect by cable - something that might involve endless try-outs of genuine Nokia cables. No sign of any CA-42 cable success in these forums!
Hope someone else finds this useful

Suddenly everything is OK, isn't it irritating, me thinks Nokia has to sort PC Suite out. It appears to give a lot of people problems with connection!!

Am I alone in not being able to connect my 6101 via Infra Red to the PC Suite.
Yes it is activated both on phone and thru the wizard and I have adjusted the speed.
I wonder is I am trying for the impossible!!

  • CONNECT 6101 TO PC SUITE?

Hi i want to know if
    1. the nokia 6101 can connect to pc suite
    2.what cable should i use?
ive tried using the dku 5 dku 2 and the ca-53 and no luck...
    please help.

It is not that simple. For sure, Windows wil detect that there is some new hardware trying to connect via USB. Then windows tries its best to try to figure out that what is the driver in the PC that knows what is in the other end of the cable and if you have some non-Nokia cable, you can only wish that the cable has the capasity to pass through the information about the capabilities of the NOkia device to the PC.
In your case the Nokia Phone does not even seem to recognise there is a cable attached, so I don't think the cable is very cleverly designed.
It is a shame that people keep on buying these cheap cables, it seems really many of them are just rubbish.Message Edited by manta on 24-Aug-2006

  • Latest PC Suite version fails after 1-2 system reb...

I've been using PC Suite successfully under XP SP3 with my 6102 phone connected via Nokia USB cable. When I updated PC SUite recently to v7.1.18.0 the suite worked fine, but after a couple of reboots of my computer it no longer registers the phone when I plug the cable in. When I tell PC Suite to "repair" itself, it knows that a Nokia phone is connected, even though it shows it as disconnected in the system tray area. I have unistalled and reinstalled PC Suite twice with repeateable results -- sees the phone initially, then refuses to connect fully after system reboots. Any ideas?

PC Suite Cleaner is no longer available on the Nokia web site. I found a copy (v3.6) on another site but when I tried to run it, I got a message that it would not work with the version of PC Suite that was "installed" (the fact that PC Suite Cleaner detected anyting at all proves that PC Suite uninstall left residual stuff on the hard drive). Tried reinstallng newest PC Suite (now for the fourth time), with the same result: Worked flawlessly, but icons did not appear in system tray area after reboot; when trying to uninstall or repair, it detects that a Nokia phone is connected, but PC Suite won't display icons or sync with phone with it unless I completely uninstall and reinstall it.

  • Problem In using Nokia PC Suite with the new Nokia...

My Nokia Ahs 310 is a new phone I bought and I tried with it to connect internet through my PC using Nokia PC Suite. But, when I connect phone to the PC it tells that it can't find the drivers and install the new device. And in someyimes in Nokia PC Suite it showed as "connected in non compatible USB".
However I can't log into internet using my Nokia Asha 310. Please help me in this regard.

scoobyman, I think KRNS tries to use his Nokia 310 as modem for his computer. Consequently, no Wi-Fi involved.

This does not affect the Nokia 310 but only Nokia Asha 501, Nokia 301, Nokia 210, and the Nokia 206 – because my Nokia 310 works with Nokia Suite and PC Suite perfectly. Furthermore, The Nokia 301 was tested with the PC Suite successfully. Same for the Nokia 206. Success reports for the Nokia 210 are still missing.

install the latest Nokia Suite. This install the latest Connectivity Cable Driver automatically. Then
install the latest PC Suite (I like its modem handling more)
Nokia 310 » SIM Manager » choose SIM1 (at least for data)
PC Suite » Menu » File » Connect to the Internet
Works here with my Nokia 310, just tested for you. However, I was not able to use SIM2 for the computer. If neither PC Suite nor Nokia Suite worked for you, please say so!

  • PC Suite Sync Error "Unable to load progress inter...

I have been using PC suite successfully for the last few years but recently when i try to sync Outlook to PC Suite I get the error message "Unable to load progress interface" and the process aborts.
I have found the earlier posts regarding this problem and have tried all solutions involving uninstalling and using PC suite cleaner, cc_cleaner, etc. However the one solution I haven't been able to try is the solution posted by 'miksu' (/t5/PC-and-Mac-Software/SYNCH-NOKIA-IPROGRESS2/m-p/33402) involving the download if a file called NclRegpermissions.zip.
The original download location of this file is now unavailable and I have searched in vain for the file.
Does anyone have a solution to this frustrating problem, or know of a download location for the NclRegpermissions.zip file?
    Thanks
    Win XP SP3

    Connect Bluetooth/Cable

I had exactly the same problem with the PC Suite when it updated itself to the latest version (PC Suite 7.1.40.1). Nokia could not provide any assistance.
I tried the OVI Suite in place of the faulty PC Suite (having read some of the postings here). It was of no use as the OVI Suite does not load the Calander Function at all - which is one of the two functions I need to synch - contacts and calander.
So much for having a smart phone that you cannot synch!!!!

  • Cannot uninstall older version PC Suite and instal...

I had PC Suite ver 7.1.18.0. There was connection problem in it. I tried to uninstalla it and install newer ver 7.1.26.0 (finnish). But installatin stops always in 84 % and nothing happens. ThenI stop installation (when it is hanged) and try to uninstalla ver 7.1.26 program says than there is an other installation  going and nothing can be done unless installation is ready, but it hangs again at 84 %.
I have try to use Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, but it finds only PC Connectivity Solution an NOkia Connctivity Caple Driver, not PC Suite itself. I have tried to also maually remove folders. But it do not help..
I use Win XP Pro SP3

I have the same issue as gorge.  I tried to use Nokia PC Suite Cleaner 7.1.1.  I rebooted the machine to complete the removal.  When I tried to re-install the latest version, it hanged and eventually gave the message that an older version was installed and it could not uninstall it.

Can anyone tell me why I am getting "EBusiness Suite 11.5.9" as the business domain when I am using the metadata import wizard, althou we are connecting to "EBusiness Suite 11.5.10.2". I am also not able to import any of the HR tables except for one "HR.PER_ABSENCE_ATTENDANCES"
I am able to connect to the EBusiness Suite successfully from the OWB repository user:
    1) but when I us the metadata import wizard and select the "Business Domain" --> Browser is shows "EBusiness Suite 11.5.9". We are currently running Oracle Applications EBusiness Suite 11.5.10.2. It also does not include the "HR" schema in the Business domain list.
    2) when I use the same metadata import wizard and select "Text string, where object" option
I am only able to see the PER_ABSENCE_ATTENDANCES table in the HR schema.
The current version of OWB repository user 10gR2 (10.2.0.4.0)
    OWB Client version 10.2.0.4.36
    Database version 10.2.0.3.0 EE
    Regards
    Ben

    Hi
Which database schema are you connect to EBS using?
I think that display name is taken from the view FND_APPLICATION_VL where the columns APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME and APPLICATION_NAME are used by OWB. Can you check what is projected in these values from the view?
    Cheers
    David

  • Synchronizing with 64-bit Outlook 2010 via PC Suit...

Is it possible to use PC Suite under 64-bit Windows 7 for synchronizing the phone's contacts and organizer with the 64-bit version of MS Outlook included in Office 2010?

As others above, I have been using PC Suite successfully for a number of years now with various versions of Microsoft operating systems and Office. Now I have Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 (both x64) and now PC Suite refuses to synchronise, and the previous contributor says to use OVI Suite because PC Suite is about to be discontinued.
For me, OVI Suite does NOT work properly anyway, it keeps chewing up increasing amounts of CPU cycles, so I have disabled it. PC Suite works well, but now does not synchronise with Outlook 2010.
If this issue cannot be resolved, my contract is due to be renewed in a months time, and I may well choose a phone other than Nokia.
PS: I tried synchronising in Ovi Suite -- and failed. Ovi Suite could not even find my broadband connection, it seems. Not very clever is it?
Customer service is about listening to customers as well as informing them what is happening. Neither seems to be at the forefront of Nokia right now. The result of that is likely to be that Nokia may well lose long-time loyal customers. That will hurt (the bottom line).

  • PC Suite does not startup

    Background:
Nokia PC Suite worked correctly and about 2 weeks ago it stopped working. I can't identify anything that started this behaviour.
    Problem Behaviour:
When I run PCSuite (via PCSuite.exe or via a link to PCSuite.exe) the "hour glass icon" appears for a second and then nothing further. No window open up, and no icon apear in the icon system tray like before. No error message or dialog is reported.
Some things that still seem to work correctly. When I run PSync2.exe it works correctly and I can sync with my phone.
I uninstalled PC Suite successfully, and re-installed twice already. In both cases, after the install the behaviour was as I described above.
    Question:
Any ideas, please? Does PCSuite have a log file to check if any errors are reported at that level?
    Other info:
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate (with service packs up to date)
Nokia Software: Nokia PC Suite version 6.86.9.3
    Connection method: USB and Bluetooth
    Phone: Nokia E61i

    Hi,
I am having the same problem on XP SP2 machine,
    Pc-suite will not run.
Have tried uninstalling and re-installing all of Nokia's software, no change.
Have tried updating the software on PC and Phone, lost all contacts on the phone
    Still no change.
Have since found, as per "hduplessis", that I can run "PSync2.exe" directly to sync the phone contacts.
Any clues as to why this has stopped running?
Thanks for any help that I can get.

  • PC Suite install hanging

    Hi,
When installing PC suite 7.1.30.8 (latest) on my lenovo thinkpad  T400 the installer is stuck at 83% ( GUI is still reactive though)
It's an XP SP3 machine. Tried on my desktop PC : there it installed worked, but I need it my my laptop.
No errors no nothing. Pressing cancel does not do anthing either.
Run the cleanup tool & tried again: same.
Tried with wireless / bluetooth disabled: still stuck.
    Any help greatly appreciated...

I have reported to Nokia Support and they have made various suggestions about resolving this problem. To date none of them have worked.
    This was the latest.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++With regard to your email, I would suggest that you uninstall your previous Nokia PC Suite and reinstall the latest version of the Nokia PC Suite. In order to download the Nokia PC Suite successfully, please deactivate the firewall as with an active firewall, component or drivers downloaded would be corrupted.  Kindly refer to the steps given below to uninstall and reinstall the Nokia PC Suite:
     1) On your PC, please select "Start > Search > Search for files and folders".
     2) In the search column, please type in "Nokia PC Suite" or "Nokia" and click "Search".
     3) Select "Tools > Folder options > View". Kindly ensure that the "Show hidden files" tab is selected.
     4) Once done, please revert to the "Add/remove programs" list on your PC and remove the previous Nokia PC Suite
software. You may also run the Windows Registry Cleaner on your PC.
     5) Run the Get Connected wizard to connect your phone to the PC and to install phone-specific cable drivers. Follow the
         instructions on the screen.
After the installation, it is good to check that the drivers have been installed successfully:
     1) Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager.
     2) Check that here are no question marks or exclamation marks in the list.
     3) If a driver has not been installed successfully, and question marks or exclamation marks are shown in the list,
        uninstall and reinstall the driver:
     4) Select the driver, click Action > Uninstall, and then Action > Scan for hardware changes.

My problem is the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver being an old edition that cannot be uninstalled. I have asked that they tell me how to isilate and uninstall this driver, but still waiting. With the amount of problems that version 7 in general and this latest version, 7.1.38 or 7.1.39 cause I still think the software itself is at fault.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.90 hanging on "Signing In" w...

    Hi,
I have been trying to get the latest Software Update for my E7 for about 6 weeks. I log in to Nokia Ovi Suite successfully and then when I go to get the latest update it asks me to sign in again, which I do and then it hangs there showing "Signing In". I have left this over night and come down the next morning to see the same thing. It is obviously starting to really p*** me off. What actually makes it even more annoying is that I have to come to a forum to try to resolve the problem as I can't find a contact for Nokia.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There can sometimes be issues in downloading the phone sw but if your problem has gone on for several weeks, it's then something else. There may be something wrong in your Ovi Suite installation and you could try to fix it by running the uninstall command and selecting the repair option during uninstall. Check also that the internet connectivity is working OK on your PC and that you can connect to your Nokia account when prompted by Ovi Suite.
If the problem persists, you could try upgrading to the latest Nokia Suite beta version which can be found at Nokia Betalabs:
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-suite-beta?req=true
It's worth checking also if the over-the-air update for your phone becomes available sometimes later on in Applications > SW Update menu. The OTA packages don't necessarily become available at the same time with the PC updates.

  • Serial Number is Invalid? Need Help.

I recently got a new macbook pro and I transferred my cs5 Suite successfully to the new computer. I used After Effects a few times successfully but about two days ago when ever i tried using any of the cs5 applications, photoshop, ae, etc I got any error that said the adobe application manager was damaged or somin. So i redownloaded the application manager and it opened the applications but now its asking for the serial number again. I put my serial number in and the application opened successfully. However, then the application manager opened up a window that said it appears this serial number is invalid and i need to enter a new one. So now when i open the application it asks for another serial number, and when i put mine in it says its invalid. I cant open any of my applications because it says the serial is invalid. I need help. It could be that I did not transfer properly or somthing but im not sure. Also i never uninstalled or canceld cs5 suite on my old macbook because i dont know if u have to or not. Any help would be great. All of the apps still open and work properly on the old macbook, so i assume its a transfer problem. Someone please inform me on what I need to do.

MrGoodbar1318 I would recommend removing your Adobe software by running the un-installers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.  Once you have removed the software then also verify the following folders have been removed:
    Library/Application Support/Adobe/AdobePCD
    Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps
These folders contain the serial number information and could be possibly causing your serial number to come up as invalid if they got damaged or the permissions got adjusted on them.
