6110 Dead after upgrade

Hi!
I did right now do an software upgrade on my 6110, everything looked okay, no errors or pequliar messages, but now the phone won't start up. When I push the "on"-button, the usual "bzm" sounds and the screen lights up, but then nothing happens, and after about 15 seconds the screen goes black again and the phone don't react when I push the "on"-button. Is there any way to fix this other sending it to the serviceshop?

you can take the phone to service centre and let them flash it as a dead phone ie forcefully writing the software after that it should work and also when it works check out the maps.lock of the maps should be open.

  • E71 just went dead after upgrading

Well, I´ve stopped crying ´cause it did´nt help...
I plugged in my phone to the computer via USB and clicked on upgrade. It started and I left for a coffee. Came back and my phone was dead and the computer said it was a old version of OVI (changed it yesterday, so it wasn't that old) and that I ought to upgrade it and try again.
Yeah, well, I can´t start it now, it makes a buzz and then nothing more and it goes totally black again.
YES, I´ve tryed to press 3 * answerbutton and the on/off button simultaniously without any luck. Sometimes it starts (with the screen turning greyish) but then nothing more and it shuts down totally again.
    HELP!
I don´t know what I´m supposed to do tomorrow and for the next few weeks....

Hi, I suggest you remove the battery and the memory card. Insert just the battery after one minute and try to boot it. If it boots try with the memory card again. If it fails you will probably have to format the card.
If it does not turn on, try another hard reset without having the memory card installed. As you may know the phone memory will be wiped doing it, but there doesn't seem to be any other choices.
One thing though, your phone didn't run out of battery during the update? If you're not sure, try charging it for at least 15 mins - if it will charge of course.
If nothing works and you cannot get it back to life you will unfortunately have to visit a Nokia care point to get it fixed.
As you've already tried getting it back to life but not succeded I guess this thread by psychomania: /t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Recovering-from-a-failed-firmware-update/td-p/398147 isn't too much help, but if you get it back to life it gives some really good advices to what to do trying to update it again. It also provides you with the links to find your nearest Nokia care point.
It's worth reading. And make sure you do the hard reset correct as you will have to depress the key combination, hold those buttons in, push the power button, keep holding those three first keys in and keep holding the down until you're past the Nokia Handshake logo screen.
    Good luck!

  • MBP as good as dead after upgrade to 5.8?

    Hi All,
A strange problem with my MBP after trying to upgrade to 5.8. It never restarted after a seemingly normal installation script. Only things happening are the sleeping led comming on, a short sounding noise from the fan, the cd-drive clicking and the sleeping led going off.
I tried every bit of troubleshooting I could find which gave me one little spark of hope: after holding down the power button for a second or ten the sleeping light shows a read-out: a two second burst of on-off's followed by a short pause followed by going on for one second.
Is there anyone out there who got a clue what the diagnosis of this might be?
I'm certain it will end up in my local Apple Store but knowing the guys over there it would be better if I try to be at least one step ahead...
    Thanks in advance!!
    grts, Michel

    Update:
As feared, gone to a Apple Center, back to phone with Apple Care, forth to Apple Center again, Apple being slightly apathic to my complaints how a 1.5 year old computer bearing a logo that is supposed to show a high degree of quality and on to a Service Center where they suspect a failing logic board... all parties agree this is not what to expect from a machine with this price tag, noon action what so ever.
For now the MBP is on the test bench - i hope it's the graphic card.
I did get a replacement macbook for the time being. It's not all bad, just extreme improvising.

  • Nokia E65 pretends to be dead after upgrade to fir...

I upgraded my Nokia E65 and the upgrade failed while Nokia was in "test mode" after about ten minutes of upgrade process. But the phone restarted and worked well in new firmware. I decided to give one more chance to be sure and the upgrade failed again, this time phone was in "Nokia local mode". And yet the phone works perfectly and the firmware is version 3.
    What's wrong if any?

    Hi,
please describe your problem shorter and clearly.
i dont understand can you upgrade your phone successfully or no?

    Hi,
Update should fix router issues or more features can be added . But how did you update the router ? Did you use a laptop that's connected wirelessly to the network ? or a wired computer ?
I believe that I can make it

  • Macbook Pro (2008) dead after upgrade to 10.7.3

After download of the update it restarted.... well tha machine tried to restart. All went black.
Apple technician says he can't get the "validation error code" from the machine in regards to "free" logic board repair (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377). I am somewhat disapointed on the fact that the machine dont start even though it is "on" and Apple cant get the "code" beacasue it is not working properly? Catch 22. No I am not eligable and I have to buy a new Mac due to the 10.7.3 NON working upgrade. Im actually very frustrated.
I cant believe that it is a coincidence that my hardware stopped working just at the same time I was upgrading the OS. I think that is a whitewash for not doing the repair.
What can I do to get this issue solved without buying a new mashine for lots of hard earned money?

This is extremely unlikely. However, it is possible for a bug in software to damage your computer.
    I suspect two possibilities.
    1)  Somehow 10.7.3 has altered your firmware preventing the computer from starting.
    2)  The hardware has failed coincidentally with upgrading.  ( More likely in my view.)
Our office has switched back to Snow Leopard for security reasons. But I do know others running 10.7.3 without difficulties.
Apple cant get the "code" beacasue it is not working properly? Catch 22.
If your computer simply had the graphics chip problem the “code” would be readable. The reason they are unable to get this code is because your Mac has a deeper (and more serious) problem.

  • Mail App dead after Leopard upgrade + 10.5.6 update

Has anyone else ended up with a dead Mail app after upgrading to Leopard and applying the 10.5.6 update? Mail app would appear to launch, but would not run or quit. Reinstalling the 10.5.6 combo update didn't help. I had to reinstall Leopard from scratch to fix the problem. Needless to say, I updated to 10.5.5 the second time and everything works fine. But it appears that 10.5.6 can lay some nasty surprises on you.

After upgrading from Tiger to Leopard with the default method Mail was the only thing that didn't work. It wouldn't open a Mail window, appeared to be open on the menu bar and in the dock but would not quit from either command. I had to force quit. When I finally got a mail window to appear, all my email profiles and folders appeared in the left hand bar, but nary an email to be seen in any location. I could not send or receive emails. Pretty much dead!
I didn't have a meltdown because I'd archived my most important emails that were in my folders. I dug through dozens of posts on multiple forums and tried a procedure I could see was making it worse. I shut down the computer so I could get help from AppleCare this morning.
I got in trouble following the less than adequate instructions from The AppleBlog; inadequate because it didn't say where to move the folders and plist to. My most helpful Apple Tech advised me that I needed to QUIT Mail before dragging ONLY the ~Library>Preferences>com.apple.mail.plist file to my desktop. The two folders need to stay in the Library.
After you are out of Mail, on the desktop click on the plist to highlight it. Use Control-click to display the popup menu and select Copy for the plist. Open finder window and select ONLY Preferences (~Library>Preferences) so the word Preferences is highlighted. Go to the Finder>Edit>Paste drop down menu of the toolbar. Select Paste. It will ask if you want to replace the newly created plist with the one you just copied. Select replace. Relaunch Mail and that should restore all your Mail Profiles and retrieve your messages.
This process even brought back my mail folders and put all my saved messages back where they were filed. I didn't have to get into my archived messages file after all.
I just wish I could have found this simpler fix online without spending hours searching and reading conflicting suggestions. Maybe this will help someone else fix their problem faster.

  • Why is my iPhone 4S dead, not showing in iTunes, won't charge after upgrading to 5.1.1???????!!!!!!!??

After upgrading my iphone 4S to 5.1.1 I had a problem... woke up one morning and my phone was DEAD!  It was completely non responsive, not showing up in iTunes, not charging from my Mophie, or A/C or Mac.
I wanted to post the fix that worked for me in case anyone else out there is having the same heart pulpitations I was this morning.  In the online communities Parisilia had posted a fix to do a hard reset  (Hold down the home button and power button simultaneously for several seconds, the phone will reboot and will then be recognized in iTunes and you can restore from backup).  This worked for me - PHEW!! Off the ledge...
Once my phone rebooted it didn't actually need a restore because it hadn't 'reset' - everything was as it was the night before, although the battery had gone from 51% to 41%  Personally I'm shocked that it would drain 10% in one night and who knows how long it was 'dead' for after I put it to bed at 11:45pm????!!
This is my second iPhone 4S since Oct 2011 - the first one had to be replaced because of something radically wrong with the battery capability.  After several very frustrating months of trying various fixes Apple finally took the phone back thinking it musta been a dud.  I've had this one for about 3 months and it's been much better battery-wise, but now the mysterious DOA event has me seriously worried that I have another dud.  Looking thru the communities there seem to be many more people experiencing the same issue, so hopefully it's software and can be fixed (APPLE ARE YOU LISTENING??) rather than me being up the creek again.
Good luck to anyone else experiencing the same issue.

    Try
    1. Totally remove iTunes and QuickTime
    see
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
    2. then you will need to do a "deep clean" of registry
by this I mean a registry search for itunes and delete any and every key you find
*however if you do not know how to do this safely don't try it*
unfortunately the registry cleaners do not clean to this level
and itunes leaves considerable detritus in the registry which can screw up updates and or reinstalls
Apple needs a cleaner similar to Norton's effort which has similar problems. Their tool removes ALL evidence of a previous anti virus installation which is what the above solution achieves in iTunes

  • Win XP partition in Bootcamp dead after Mountain Lion upgrade

After upgrading my 3.1 Mac Pro to Mountain Lion, all my volumes show on the desktop
Bootcamp shows me the Windows disk choice....but after I choose it I get a black screen with the following error message
"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk Hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and hardware reference manuals for additional information"
Anyone seen this? Any ideas? All was working well just before the upgrade. I never dreamed Mountain Lion would touch the WIndows partition, but evidently it did. Volumes on the desktop seem to be fine and have all files, programs and folders....just this boot error won't let me get to them
Thanks in advance for any help

When ML was installed the partition configuration changed, that's enough to stop XP from booting, I do not know of a simple solution (XP is not supported on ML) but others may.

  • After upgraded iOS5 on my ipad2, sound notification gone dead even with setting sound on

After upgrading my ipad2 to ios5, sounds notification doesn't work, even though setting sound is on

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • Can't Login With Network Account After Upgrade To Yosemite Server 4

I've been putting off this troubleshooting for a while now, and after trying everything I could find, decided to post.
    - After upgrading my server to Yosemite with Server 4, and my MacBook to Yosemite, I can no longer login with any network accounts.
    - I was on clean installs of Mavericks before the upgrade.
    - I'm using SSL for the OD, with a GoDaddy cert, the same one that was working on Mavericks.
    - I've tried removing the laptop's binding using the Users and Groups preferences dialog, which does not remove the laptop's entry from Open Directory, so I manually deleted the record on the server.
    - I then choose to Join again, and it looks as though everything goes through, but I still cannot login with a network account.  Also, when rejoining, it does not create a binding on the server.
    - If I use the Directory Utility->Services->LDAPv3, and add it that way, entering the FQDN and checking Encrypt..., Use for auth and Use for contacts, it asks me for the directory admin username and password, and does in fact create the binding on the server, but I still cannot login.  What's strange about that method, is that it forces the use of the IP address of the server, rather than the FQDN, like I entered it, which would of course have problems, because the certificate's common name is the server's FQDN.  It does not allow me to change from using the IP address, graying out that field.
    - I've also tried destroying the OD and restoring from archive to no avail.
It looks like many users have hit dead ends with this, with some having success by completely formatting and setting up a new iteration of the server, but I will not be doing that.  However, I'll be happy to try any other suggestions.
    Thanks for your time,
       -- Mike

Okay, I've finally resolved the issue, thanks to the Apple Enterprise tech support team.  I'm thinking they wouldn't mind if I share this information, but I can't guarantee that this will work on your system or, worse yet, degrade your system further.  However, that's fairly unlikely, just make sure you have plenty of backups before you begin any troubleshooting session.
So I was told to perform the following instructions, which I did, line for line.  The part about closing Server.app seems a given, but I'm not sure why they want you to open Server.app at the the end (maybe taken out of context from some other instructions?).  I did it anyway, but you should be able to begin testing, on a client workstation, right after rekerberizing is complete.  I did, however, need to reboot my client, login as local admin, and then binding would proceed, and network users are able to login again.  The engineer also let me know to expect an error, something like the following: "2015-03-11 21:58:38 +0000 Error synchronizing removal of attribute draft-krbPrincipalACL from record 72519e4c-7ac7-15e4-bd42-10adb1944cbc: 77013 result: 16 No such attribute" - this is apparently normal, and did in fact happen in my experience.
    So here's the fix:
    - Quit Server.app (don’t just close the window)
    - On the Open Directory Server, execute these Terminal commands:
      - sudo mkdir /var/db/openldap/migration/
      - sudo touch /var/db/openldap/migration/.rekerberize
      - sudo slapconfig -firstboot
    - Open Server.app
And that's it.  I did nothing else on my OD server, just logged out.  Immediately tried binding on my MacBook client, it failed, I rebooted, tried again, it worked quickly, and I'm able to login with network user accounts again.

I'm glad that keyboard and mouse are working properly under USB 1.0, but neither my usb-parport printer nor my USB external hard drive are recognised any more :-(
Any ideas how to solve this?? (I'd prefer not to downgrade the kernel)

I've discovered it's not that USB 2.0 is not working. 3 out of 6 usb ports/busses seem to work properly. The other three seem totally dead. Obviously this was not the case under kernel 3.9.9-1. Downgrading to kernel 3.10.2 made no difference.
In practical terms this means that I can use my printer and access my external drive if I use the right port/bus. And I could probably work around the problem by plugging a USB hub in one of the working ports. But I would be happy to get rid of the error messages and have all 6 usb busses working as they did before...
