6110 navagator sucks in australia

the nokia 6110 navagator comes pre installed with very outdated maps , they claim they are 2006 which i doubt. Even so we are almost in 2008 and there is no sign not even a glimmer of hope for new maps. *We have all be sucked in* and left holding a useless gps. If the maps are old its out with the old trusty UBD which i tend to use more and more often making the nokia a complete joke.

Try this... Go to Navigator > Options > Settings > Units > Select Metric. It worked on mine !!

You are correct that GPS network covers the globe, but I think that you will find the Assisted GPS feature which requires a network connection is not functioning; without this feature and relying entirely upon Integrated GPS it can take anything up to 20 minutes outside to get that first positional fix again in different part of the world.
More information on Positional methods here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/n86-8mp/how-to/maps/use-gps
You don't say whether "roaming" or using local SIM but may have to re-define access point for positional server to get Assisted GPS working.

  • 3G Nokia 6110 Nagivator cannot update to latest ve...

    Hi,
I bought my Nokia 6110 Nagivator from 3G Australia at 2007, phone code is 0553278 and RM-122. The latest firmware version is now v6.01 but for some reason nokia software updater said my phone have the latest firmware update version 4.22. Is there anywhere I can manually install v6.01? I have finished my contract with 3G Australia and I think I have my right to upgrade to my phone to any versions I want to. Will Nokia Customer service center able to help?
    Thank
    Sam

In other words they blew you off.
The problem does not lie with Nokia, it lies with the operator.
Nokia passes new firmware versions on to operators before releasing them to the general public. This leaves operators the time to do whatever branding they want to do and pass the branded version back to Nokia for distribution via NSU and FOTA. This is so that branded phones and SIM-free, generic phones can get the update more or less at the same time. However, we know how quick off the mark operators are when it comes to supporting existing customers as opposed to hooking in new customers, and this means that they really take their time over branding and approving new firmware, resulting in the current situation where you're left stranded with old firmware while others have managed to upgrade long since.
If others have been able to upgrade then this means that your operator was given the new firmware ages ago. The fact that it hasn't yet been made available to you means that the operator has done b*gg3r all with it. Nokia are waiting for them to pass the modified firmware back for distribution, not the other way round.
Your operator has to pull its finger out - the ball is in its court.

  • Pre-loaded Australia Map in 6110 Navigator

    Hi All,
I have 6110 Navigator which was bought from Singapore. It came with a pre-loaded Singapore map, which isn't much use for me here in Oz so I deleted it.
Now I have a few questions
    (1) How do I get the Australian map into this phone, as if it came pre-loaded like other 6110 Navigtor in Australia?
    (2) Where does the pre-loaded map reside? In the memory card or phone?
    (3) Do I need to pay for a licence to use the pre-loaded map?
    (4) Do I need to flash my 6110 to get it with the pre-loaded Australia map? If so how do I do that?
    Thanks in Advance.

Ths model is sold with a licence installed for the region of purchase, you would have to buy a licence from Route 66 to use any other maps.
You should be able to install the Australian maps from the software supplied with the phone on the DVD, and then you can activate it buying a licence to activate it through the "Extras" selection in the Options menu in the Route 66 software.

  • Navigator 6110 and Australia 2006 Q2 Map

    Hi All
My new 6110 Navigator was supplied with a Route 66 DVD that contains maps of Austraia that don't match the licence on my phone. Despite repeated calls to Nokia support I'm advised they can't help me I need to persue this with Route 66. Funny, but I thought I bought the phone from Nokia. I know for sure the key deciding thing for me was that it inlcuded a licenced copy of the Autralian Maps.
There is a really easy way around this. All I have to do is shell out 49 Euros and buy an updated map from Route 66. This is incredibly easy to do but getting a copy of the map I am licenced for seems to be impossible. Remarkable really.
Can anyone help please? I need to download a copy of the Australia 2006 Q2 Map that matches my licence. All help appreciated.
    John

After several calls to Nokia who denied any responsibility and referred me to Route 66, this is the response from Route 66 support (verbatim):
    "Dear customer,
I kindly inform you that it is Nokia's decision what is the map included in the package.
We can only provide you maps via the ROUTE 66 application, but every map has to be purchased.
Sof if you are not pleased with the map which Nokia installed from the beginning please contact Nokia for further information.
    Kind regards
    Cristina Mares
    ROUTE 66 Customer Support"
So, if you are buying a Navigator 6110 don't expect any support from Nokia or Route 66 if you need a copy of the map licensed with the phone. There appears to be no way of recovering the map you are licensed for but you can sure go and buy a new one. If this isn't a scam it has the same net effect.

  • 6110 Pre-installed Australia Map

Hey guys. I've managed to delete the preinstalled Australia map from my 6110 navigator.
The first time I used the Route 66 software, I deleted all of the other language voices to save space on the SD card, and at the same time must have had the Australia map checked.
I've reinstalled the Australia map to the phone via the Route 66 software, however it's now locked and needs a license, which they want to charge me 49.95 euros for. How do I get my original map and/or license back?

Thanks for th info Patc, but the phone is brand new, so I haven't even had a chance to sync it with anything yet. I got it in Brisbane on Thursday, but was away on holiday, and only just got back to my computer. I was looking forward to playing around with it properly, but managed to somehow stuff it.
So, basically I don't have any backups, new or old. I should have backed up the phone with the Route 66 program as soon as I connected it, but didn't. Thanks for the suggestion though, if anyones got any other ideas, I'd be grateful beyond measure!

  • Navigation problem on 6110 navigator

I have experience a search problem with my Nokia 6110 navigator, whenever i search Broome, Australia, or move the cursor on the map to Broome, my navigation application will automatically shut down, and will lose my previous successful map point. Can anyone tell me if they have experience the same problem with their phone? thanks

    Hi timothy,
I have the exact same problem on my phone and note you posted the problem back in August. Have you figured out why as yet? Please let me know, otherwise I will have to start chasing it up with Nokia or Route 66.
    Thanks

  • Quad Core iMac Delivery - Australia

Anyone in Australia got a quad core iMAC??
    When was it ordered?
ordered mine on 05/11... no update

I was told today my Imac would not be delivered until the end of January today. I was told 3 - 4 weeks from when I ordered it in October, it has now been 7 weeks and by the time I get it, 15 weeks, over 3 months.
Apple advertise on the web site 7 - 10 business days. I was told even if I ordered a non Quad core I would not get it to the end of January.
I ordered through David Jones with an apple rep. Seems to me if you order online you get your mac and if you order with a reseller you get screwed up the ....
The web site still says 7-10 days, apple suck.
How can you expect someone to wait 3 1/2 months for a computer.

  • Western Australia out by 1 hour issue.

    Hello Everyone,
As of Monday, we noticed all our BB fleet's times were an hour ahead.
As such I read KB 24267 (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB24267) as per the link from Telstra's web site.
I uploaded the required time zone update as per the instructions, confirmed it is resident in the Blackberry but am still an hour over.
Checking the time info on the BB, it shows the Network time is correct but the device time is still one hour out.
As I have not been able to find anywhere in the KB article that it is for Western Australia, I am guessing this DST patch was NOT applicable for ourselves.
Is there another patch I need to try to allow the BB's to work?
Thank you for any help you can give me.

For anyone interested, you need to change the time to manual and the time zone to Taipei.
There does not currently seem to be a software fix from RIM.  What sucks the most is that Telstra's wombats - after speaking to about 5 different customer service officers - didn't pick up on a solution until the 5th person advised that Telstra's current "fix" is to set the time manually.

  • Track calls made with 6110

    Hey,
I'm with Optus in Australia and they dont have "Live Billing" or what ever there excuse was. SOOO i cannot check how much i have used on my plan, untill the bill comes out. Yes i know its gay.
Here is where i want to track calls. My old phone (LG K800) had a feature where you can input call cost per 30 sec block and price per SMS and it told you how much you should have spent. Does the 6110 have a feature like this that i have missed ?? Alternatively, is there an application i can get that does this??
If not, is there a way i can transfer my log of calls and SMS's to my computer so i can put all that into a program and do the same thing??
    Thanks Guys

  • N95 no maps? 6110 incl maps!

    Hi all,
just gotten my N95 and was very disapointed to find it doesn't have any maps on it?
Afriend bought the 6110 Navigator and it had maps already on it?
How is it, that the flagship phone comes without maps on it and need to be purchased seperatly?
Can you get cheaper or free maps from the net or can I use the maps that came free with my Navman ICN 500?
Thanks and best regards from Australia
    Martin

    Hi martinmelbourne
Starting with off topic battery issue. If you start by fully charging then completely discharging battery for 5-10 cycles you will find battery endurance improves. There are several factors contributing to poor battery life in N95:
Bluetooth - do you need it on?
WLAN - can change TX100 to TX10 in advanced settings
Disable 3G on the N95 if not utilizing:
    Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Network
    > Dual mode
    > UMTS
    > GSM
I am sorry that I can't talk you through using Maploader v1.1 which is slightly different to 1.0, but when you run application you are able to choose Regional Maps to download; when maps downloaded to PC you can choose to put microSD into card reader or use memory card in N95 connected as a USB mass storage device (data transfer mode)

  • CR-49 Cradle - Availability in Australia

    Hi,
Having just purchased a new Nokia 6110 Navigator phone, I would like to get a cradle and holder to affix it to my car windscreen.
It seems the only cradle available is a CR-39 model which does not charge the phone. I have seen a CR-49 model mentioned which DOES charge the phone while in the cradle.
Is the CR-49 Cradle/Charger available in Australia? And if not..>WHY NOT?????
It does not make sense when you go out and purchase these phones and then find out that not all the manufacturers accessories are available.

  • Comparing 6110 N95 and N95 8Gb

Having decided I must have a 6110, I went into my local phone carrier store to sign up for a plan that included the 6110. I was introduced to the N95 as an alternative. On researching the N95 I discovered the N95 8 GB. I was also told the "turn by turn voice guided navigation" was included, however, many reviews state this a monthly subscription service - is this true?
I am now totally unsure what to buy. My most important criteria are the GPS and navigation functions, standard phone/contacts functions, email and MP3 playback. I dont really need video and other multimedia/comms stuff.
    Any guidance would be appreciated

    Hi,
After all said and done, I think that the map should be subscription free just like the 6110 navigator. If I need to use the phone outside australia I am happy to pay $60 for a map. But a better question is.... with Vodafone The monthly 10 or 15 dollars I pay for subscription on my N95 8GB actually turns out to be far more in cost than the most expensive UBD or Sydways I have ever seen, not to mention the the navigation software uses gps and thus you are now charge $5 a minute. Pretty expensive 40 min trip if you ask me or does this include free use of gprs.
I just see this a money grabbing scheme, we will give you the use of the inbuilt maps but not only will it cost you per month but also when you actually use it.
Its the same as the " $5 a minute and doesnt matter how much you download " comeon, on 1 minute the phone would be lucky to download 2mb, definately not a song from itunes or pay as you go web site, so now you paying 10 buck for downloading and 1 or 2 bucks for a song hehehehehhe, most expensive mp3 in the world. No wonder such places like p2p are going so strong, telco companies have thier hands very deep in our pockets.

  • What's the latest maps for Australia?

    Is it Q1 2009 Australia?

if ur talking about route 66, i believe ur using the 6110 navigator (u didnt say in any of ur posts)?
coz thats the only phone that came with route 66 maps since all the other nokia with gps solutions came with the nokia maps application
if u are using the 6110 navigator then i believe that u will have to contact route 66 about purchasing map updates before being able to use them in the phone

  • How can I use Active Print on my Ipad and print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one

I was previously able to use Active Print on my Ipod to print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one.  Now, however, with my Ipad version 2 I can no longer get this to work.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

    Hi,
HP do not provide any USB connection solution for iOS.
As Active Print is a 3rd party application which provide this functionality, i believe you may find a better help within Active Print support as they more familier with their application requirement and functionality:
