6110 Navi buying new maps

I just bought a new 6110Navi, but it has no map for my country. So I used route66 Sync that comes with package to buy extra maps on route 66 web shop. But funny thing is there is nothing showed up (no downlink or instructions) after I paid for my map online. I am so confused about how I get my map since I have already paid for it. Certainly I do not want to buy it again through my cell phone, which definitly will cost my over 300 dollars extra according to my service provider.
does anyone know how should I get my map now?

Yes, route 66 is bad but dont let it put you off the phone. Its still a very good bit of hardware. See if you can get a refund from the maps, and buy copilot which is compatible.
Gordonja, thats the maps for the N95, nokia maps not route66.
The stupid software which you use to buy new maps doesnt give you any sort of referance. So while you can download the maps, you have to unlock them by paying for them.
So god forbid if you lose them, or your memory card gets corrupt. Thats it, gone. The backup function in the software never worked. I have however, copied it to another memory card, though I dont know what for since route66 sucks.
If you are going to return the phone and still want satnav, you could get another series 60 phone with bluetooth(the E65 is one) and get a seperate satnav reciever. However, you still have to get a satnav program.
Its such a shame nokia chose route66, its a nasty bit of software, and yes, the software you install on the PC too.

I have a 6110 Nav with pre-loaded, maps of Greece and the Balkans on the supplied 512mb card, but I need maps of Italy, France, Germany, UK as well. Is there a package you would recommend I download from Nokia or Route66 for this need? How do I do this??
Also, I have a new 1 Gig MicroSD card, will I need a bigger one?
Lastly, Will I still be able to use my maps for Greece and Balkans if I download additional maps?

it IS true. the maps are there. install route 66 sync software (delivered with your mobile phone on a dvd), it will ask for an update, install that, select in the route 66 sync software "r66 store", select maps, go to europe, and there you get the "Western Europe" map (costs 99,99 euro, 1,64gb, withouth nordics!) or "Western Europe with Nordics (also costs of 99,99euro, 1,78gb, with nordics). so better get with nordics. you will need at least 2gb card anyway...
but currently route 66 got problems, as they did not link the maps correctly last friday. the "Western Europe with Nordics" is in fact the map without nordics (1,64gb, download interrupted at 92-94%), not clear yet what the map "Western Europe (without nordics)" really is.
as western europe with or without nordics does NOT include greece and baltics, you may also need to get that map, or it may work with your old map together (therefore, i guess you need a card larger than 2gb, or you get western europe without nordics, i do not know the size of the greece/baltics map). but that may fit on a 2 gb card. cards of size up to 8gb are supported (and more)
anyway, to make those maps work, you need to update your mobile phone to firmware 4.22.
guess route66 will fix those wrong linked maps soon.

Speed Traps on 6110 Nav

Is it possible to get speed trap alerts for South African roads on the 6110 navigator?
If so where can I get them from?

Please be informed that when formatting or replacing the memory card the licenses for the extra options you purchased are not lost as they are not stored on the micro SD card.
For instance, if you go to 'Options' > 'Extras' > 'Maps', you will see all the maps you purchased for your phone with a yellow key next to them. This symbol means you have a license of use for those maps. By formatting the card, only the map content (the actual map files) is lost.
You can now download this lost content by using the 'Download Missing Content' option in the ROUTE 66 Sync application:
1. Please launch ROUTE 66 Sync on your PC. Connect the phone to the PC via USB. Make sure Nokia Navigator is closed on the phone before connecting it. Choose 'Data transfer' on the telephone.
2. Tick the map which has no content (only a yellow key) in the 'My device' section.
3. Press 'Downloading missing content' in the up bar menu.
4. A new window will open. Press 'Start' to download the content.
5. When the download is finished, close the window and disconnect the phone. You will now see a yelow padlock next to the map.
The same procedure goes for restoring 'Safety cameras', 'Color schemes', or 'Travel guides'.
The default map included in the package is also lost when formatting the card (actually only the map content). To restore the default map please use the ROUTE 66 Sync DVD and follow the steps below:
1. Launch ROUTE 66 Sync on your PC and insert the Sync DVD into the DVD drive. Connect the phone to the PC via USB. Make sure the navigation application is closed on the phone before connecting it. Choose 'Data transfer' on the telephone.
2. Go to the DVD section (on the left-hand side) and find the default map. Tick it.
3. Press 'Copy' in the up bar menu. The map content will be copied to the memory card. When asked to buy the map license, please choose 'No' as you already own it.
4. When the download is finished, close the window and disconnect the phone. You will now see a yellow padlock next to the map.

Where and how can I get new maps for my Nokia 330?

Shortly after having bought my 330, I discovered a missing highway, hence I really need a map upgrade.
However, no map upgrade is available at Nokia's website, and neither is one at the Route 66 website. It looks like the maps are from Navteq and that I should buy a new one at Navteq's website, but the 330 isn't listed there.
So, am I true if I buy a new map from Navteq for my Nokia 330 running Route 66 Navigate 7?

I have exactly the same problem of a very poor satellites level since the beginning.
I am also a little bit disappointing about the number of contact points to send back the GPS. When I bought the GPS, I was thinking that NOKIA will have a strong support, good sofware update, etc... Unfortunately, the GPS N330 is stopping to work at certain time, this is why now I understand the Reset button, so I have to reset it several time.
So I am not happy at all, and when I will have the opportunity I will buy another GPS from a manufacturer which is specialised with the GPS
For the small story, I bought at the same time a N70, and I am not happy also, as it cuts the running communication, it resets sometime without any explanation..
So it was the first times, but now hat will be the latest.

How to add a new mapping file

I am using SSIS (SQL Server 2008) to replicate from an ODBC source (using .NET Framework Data Provider for ODBC) to SQL Server.
I am using the Import/Export Wizard and encountering the problem described in KB 152728:

I tried creating a new mapping file by copying an existing one (DB2ToMSSql10.XML), renaming it ODBCToMSSql10.XML (as near as I can tell, the filename doesn't matter), and changing the SourceType line:

Is there anything else I need to do? I was expecting I might find a file that SSIS uses to figure out which mapping file to use, but I was unsuccessful, so I think it looks at the SourceType line.
The following is the full output of the dialog - perhaps I should be modifying DTS\binn\DtwTypeConversion.xml instead? But that seems messier than creating a new file in DTS\MappingFiles:

Purchasing a battery from a third party vendor is a high risk proposition. Many such batteries have been found to be substandard.
I suggest that you try and contact Apple and see if you can have one shipped to you.

Nothing happened to it.
It is still there. Maybe it says apply now, not sure, but it is still there.

Adding new map in apex 4.0

I've just installed new apex and it looks nice
But as I've found the map of Poland is way out of date (administration plan has changed in 1999 but guys from AnyMap just missed that ;D )
I've downloaded new map in .shp format and converted it to .amap format (needed for AnyMap) then i've placed it in map /i/ folder
The problem is that it doesn't work :/
I can ink to this map but apex is shouting on me with errors :/
Is there anyone who done this and have succeed ?

Thank you for bringing this issue with the Poland map to our attention. I've logged bug 9880137 to track this issue, and will hopefully have a revised AnyChart poland.amap file for a future release. In the meantime, I'm happy you were able to work around the issue yourself by obtaining an alternative map to use. For anyone else wishing to download an alternative map of Poland, you may want to check out this site offering free Shapefiles: http://downloads.cloudmade.com/europe/poland. The Shapefiles can be converted to .amap format using AnyChart's Map Converter: http://www.anychart.com/products/anymap/converter/. If you mean other folders then you need to create them in your email client e.g. in a browser (which you can only do in IMAP accounts, not POP account) - you can't create new folders in the Mail app itself

This has nothing to do with Apple, as Apple does not make the apps.
This is the decision of the app maker.
Contact those app makers and ask them why they do this.

Upgrade mac pro or buy new imac

Really need some help here. My base machine is a quad-core Nehalem Mac Pro running at 3.33 with 8Gb of RAM and using a ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card. My choices are:
Buy a new iMac 3.4 Ghz quad core i7, 16 Gb RAM, nVidia GTX 680MX, 750 Gb SSD drive (about $3500)
OR
Buy 16 Gb RAM, nVidia GTX 680 (about 900 dollars)
Is there much of a performance differece between the 2 to justify the difference in cost?

The Mac Pro you own has way more headroom to upgrade for short money.
The 2009 and later can upgrade RAM DIMM modules by the each -- don't buy new memory modules for these Macs smaller than 8GB per module (cheaper than two 4GB). These are as cheap as US$70 + shipping from Mac-Centric vendors such as Data Memory Systems:

G4 400: Upgrade or Buy New?

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post after lurking in the shadows for a while. As you can probably guess I have a G4 400 that I've owned from new. It's getting slow(er) and I'm thinking of upgrading/buying new. I fancy a new Intel iMac but my budget can't stretch to it. Also the lack of CS in Universal is a MAJOR factor. I mainly use the Mac for general browsing etc and CS for Photoshop and graphic design. It's not a work machine so speed is not so important.
I was thinking of buying a G4 Macmini as a stop gap until I can afford the Intel iMac. Would this be better than upgrading the G4 400? See below.
On the upgrade path I was looking at: More RAM, CPU upgrade to 1.4MHz, bigger harddrive (I already have a 2nd 40GB drive).
What graphics card can I upgrade to? I'd like to be able to run a 2nd monitor if possible.
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi i've just upgraded my Sawooth G4 to 1.4Gh Sonnet. It flies now! There used to be long waiting times in between rendering in Photoshop (but i'm used to it, then), but now, the spinning beach ball rarely make an appearance.
I was like you a few months back, and lots of people/friends adviced me to get a Mini instead. I'm glad i sticked with my G4 and upgraded parts, one at a time. I'm a Graphic Designer too. Though i'm using Photoshop 7, Illustator 10, Freehand MX, etc... Basically older versions.
Next up for me will be a Pioneer 110D, and i'm looking for ATI 8500 or 9000 through ebay. And maybe, just maybe a SATA card and HD.

Why would apple install iPhoto by default with Snow Leapord and make us import all our photos in it at the first place, and now ask for money if we want to retrieve our photos back on mountain lion? What if they make contacts a paid app with the next OS upgrade, and then bully us to pay money if we want our contacts? This is something very dissappointing on Apple's part. I need answers here.

I fail to remember if the installer gave me an option to keep my applications.
The Mountain Lion installer will not delete applications. It will only mark applications, that are not compatible with your current system with a "forbidden" sign in the icon. And you cannot launch them.
Does your iPhoto icon in the Applications folder look like this?
Then your iPhoto version is incompatible and cannot run with Mt. Lion. If it is iPhoto '11, with a versionnumber starting with 9.x.x., you can upgrade it by downloading a newer version from the Apple downloads site http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1650.
But if you have 8.x.x, you need to buy an upgrade.
